Hi all....when you open up the camera app....how do you zoom in and out? Thanks

Volume buttons do the zooming.

Pinch to Zoom also works in camera...place your finger and thumb on the screen while in the camera, and pull them apart or squeeze them together to zoom in or out.

Here is how you change what the volume rocker does while the camera application is on:
While in the Camera App
Click on the 'Settings' Gear > Click on the 'Settings' gear again
A new window will pop-up with 3 tabs at the top. Click on the gear and from there, you can edit what your volume rocker does. Zoom In/Out, Take Photo, Take Video.

With CM7 you can set the soft buttons to do other functions. For example you can set the search button to a different app or search app. You can set up the camera to use either volume UP, volume DOWN, or Power button to take pics. If you use the power.button to take pics you can then set up the volume UP/DOWN to zoom in/out. I have asked about this in one of the stock roms but never got an answer.

Does anyone have an answer for the stock rom rooted?
I believe they are currently tinkering with the camera app to enable this functionality.
Is there a way to assign the s-pen short cut of double tapping the screen while holding the side button to launching another app other than s-memo lite. I have a preference to using an alternative note taking app.
Devs?
Same here

Unless I'm mistaken, what I did to the camera there is supposed to make it so the search button opens the camera and takes the pictures. Well, it does open the camera, but it doesn't take the pics. Am I wrong about it making it so it also takes pics? And if that's not the right way to do it, does anyone know how?

When you make a button open the camera thats using the long press shortcut setting, so you for example you hold the search key for 2 sec and it opens the camera. And as far as the button used for taking the picture itself, that is a setting in the actual camera app that you can set in some roms. I know with CM7 you can set it to have the search key, volume key, or power button snap the picture.

Does anyone know how to remap the lock screen button (power button) to operate as a camera shutter button?
I know it's a pretty stupid request, considering the possibility that you might not be able to turn your device off afterwards.
However, when the camera is running, tapping the lock screen button doesn't actually turn off the screen, it locks it while the camera is still running. I'm guessing that this is a special command that the camera app itself activates. If this is the case, is there a way to edit the YP-G1 camera app to use the power button as a hardware shutter button only when the camera app is running?
I'm not looking for a hardware camera shortcut, just a hardware shutter button, because let's face it, it's not easy to take incognito photos when you have to tap the button on the touch screen instead of a hardware button.
There is n app called button remapper (I think) that serves the basic function you're looking for.

While the idea for this app ids close to what I'm looking for, I wonder if there's a way to change the behaviors for certain buttons ONLY within a certain app, not all the time.

Find a watch face that has a settings button on it. Couple of ours for example, Extreme Energy and Burning Skull Fit have settings buttons. [emoji6]
