Does Nova Launcher effect these things.... - AT&T HTC One (M7)

Hello,
I'm kind of new to these launchers. Just got Nova and wanted to maybe hear from some of those who may have used it a bit longer on their HTC one.
Since installing nova, Have you seen changes in
1) Battery life
2) Camera
I was curious to wether or not sense 5 has anything to do with the quality of the photos of the ultra pixel camera
Thanks yall
-Nick

The launcher doesn't get rid of sense and it doesn't effect the camera.

The only thing Nova changes from Sense is the transparent status bar. (Which I miss) Also, you cant use Sense clock widget on Nova.

Nova is good for hiding the blink feed if that feature annoys you

Search HTC Sense 5 Clock on these forums. It's a skin for fancy widget, comes pretty close to the original.

[Q] HTC Widgets /w a Different Launcher.

Hope this is a good place to ask this.
Ok I Love the HTC Widgets and Framework.. But I absolutely hate the Launcher it has.
Is there anyway to keep the HTC Framework but have a Different Launcher for it. Id love to use Launcher PRO or Zeam. Either one or something similar.
apparently this is an extremely difficult task and to my knowledge nobody has been able to do this on any phone ever. so chances are no. I would love to use zeam too but i think we are stuck with what we have.
This has been asked too many times. Answer no. replacement launcher pro paid version.

Its possible, you have to remove ever applications dependace on HTC.resources.apk and make every application individual on its own instead of depending on another framework... This way it would show up on every launcher but... Too much work for something so little

I think by "launcher" the OP means the "home" or desktop. IE he wants HTC Sense, but with say the bottom 5 icon setup that Go Launcher, LP, or ADW use, and maybe the ability to change the grid.
Thanks for the information. I was wondering this myself.

Fancy widget pro has the clock widget. The only difference is that it doesn't flip. It's one of the custom skins.

So far I like Sense 4, but I dislike the launcher...

The launcher seems limited, and even worse, has some pretty big performance issues. It seems fast *for the most part*, but relatively frequently, when I go to close or launch an app there is a pause or delay. Anyone else experience this?
So who else has ditched the Sense 4 launcher for Nova or something else?
I, personally, like some of the widgets offered through Sense, however I do not like the limitations. The things that pushed me to switch primarily are 4x5 rows/columns for icons and such along with a superior dock setup. Stock sense with an app drawer and 4 options is just too limited. I made the jump for Nova launcher when my OG Evo was running ICS and purchased the paid app and have not regretted it once. 3 sets of dock bars, refined folders nestled within them, along with my 4x5 screens. I miss a very few of the sense widgets, but most of them I have replaced with Android Pro Widgets (free version is enough for me on this one).
Just my overall 2 cents. Plus some of the stutters with sense seem to be absent on Nova
Other than the inexplicable restarts after some applications, I think it's being locked into the 4x4 grid that will be the end of the Sense 4 launcher for me. If it was just 4x5 I could look past a lot more of the other things.
I've been using Nova. It's like butter.
Thanks for the feedback, guys. Been using Nova and I love it too. Shame I can't use some of the Sense widgets though. I was really starting to like the calendar and the people widget. Not worth the hassle of using the launcher, though.

I am not sure of the calendar, but the people widget in Android Pro Widgets i *think* is very very similar to the sense ones. Check it out, may be worth your time!
If Sense 4.0 had landscape mode for the home screen, it would be PERFECT. I am addicted to the calendar widget which is what is keeping me stuck on Sense. I tried NOVA and think it is the best launcher I have tried. Nova is super fast and has landscape mode. If it could use Sense widgets it would be a no brainer to switch.
Do any of you know if ANY launcher out there supports sense widgets?

I like sense 4 too, along with some of the widgets, but I leave my phone on the kickstand all day at work so having a landscape desktop is more important to me.
I tried both Apex and Nova. I'm currently using Nova (free version so far) and it's working great for me. I like that you can customize the rows/columns in both of those launchers.

What's your favorite launcher, and why?

Title says it all. I've been cycling between sense, apex, go, and nova, but can't decide which one to stick with. I'm leaning towards nova. What do you guys think about your launchers?

I'm pretty impressed with Sense 4.0. My OG Evo was senseless 100% of the time, but I don't feel bogged down by it this time around.
I still have Apex installed and use it too... But find that I don't mind using sense.
Honestly, if someone modified sense to
A) accept gestures and b) added one more row to the home screen
I don't think I would really leave it.
The "frequent" tab in the app drawer and native folder support makes all the difference.

Yup. Same here. I suppose mist of the things I like about it could probably be found in other launchers. Familiarity, I suppose. I like the adjustable transparency in app drawer, and resize all Widgets, and changing desktop grid (which i know is available in other launchers, well,...except sense)

Nova. I'd go Sense if they would add 1 more row to the screens and give me a larger / scrolling dock
I used to be a huge fan of LauncherPro until the developer dedicated all his time and effort to a music app and abandoned the launcher replacement that everyone loved. I just stick with Sense because I know I won't have to worry about any issues.
I like apex, up to seven customizable icons in the dock and landscape homescreen.

Oh, I almost forgot. Nova allows for vertical scroll in app drawer, which I love. I don't like having my desktop and drawer scroll the same way. Confused my muscle memory. Or I'm just that thick lol.

I like both Apex and Nova. Just wish one of them would add the ability to customize the app drawer grids (5x6, 6x6, etc.) and icon resizing.
I am using stock sense for now but have used Apex mostly on my tablet. I will probably use Apex once I get bored of stock or if I try out CM9 at some point.
I am not a huge fan of the rotating screen transition HTC uses so I may change a little early just to get the normal slide transition back.
I might also try Nova or whatever launcher allows the vertical scrolling app drawer. I'm not a fan of the paginated style. I feel like it was done to hide lack of smoothness of the phones in the past.
i am using apex and cant use anything else. now that themes are there too. there is a free black theme that gets rid of most of the blue. very nice
i use adwpro

I don't know a way to make Sense rotate and since the charger/usb for these phones is on the side, a dock with Sense seems useless. I use APEX usually.
sense on all HTC phones is my pick because it ties in with everything else so much. if it was a nexus or aosp i would use apex

How's sense compared to other skins?

So I'm still debating whether I want this phone or not. I currently own a galaxy nexus and I must say I like stock a lot. Ive never had sense and I wonder how it is compared to stock. I played with it at the store but I don't think it's enough to determine whether to purchase or not. I hate touch wiz and the moto skin but to me sense has always looked nice. Is it clunky or cluttered compared to stock ? Does the skin make the phone lag at all? Just some information about it would be nice since everywhere I read says it's ugly or bad.

You hate moto skin ? The new one looks great on the razr m... Ok but to your question the sense skin is simply beautiful. They really took the time out to make it look great and the gpu can definitly handle it well. Keyboard sucks tho. And i wish they incorporated true mulittasking lioe touchwiz and lg ui did... One thing you will hate is that sense isnt optimized for the big display so luch homescreen and app drawer is wasted. This can be fixed by using nova or any other launcher.

Sense is fine and it runs fine on the DNA, it's not as intrusive as Touchwiz and it's not as simple as untouched Android. However that's exactly why I don't really like it. With my Nexus phone I get to experience the real android that I know and love. I get updates quick and I get to enjoy watching Android get better and better.
With my Samsung devices I know that I can't expect to get the latest from Google but I actually really like touchwiz for a lot of it's own things. Before the DNA I had the S III for a while and I loved certain functions like swiping with my palm to take a screenshot or putting the phone to my ear while texting someone to call that person. I loved being able to easily play a video on a corner while texting someone or just checking anything real quick. Touchwiz in my opinion manages to feel like a completely different experience.
With the Droid DNA, it feels like I'm just using a nicer looking version of original Android but without some of the nice things like swiping from my camera app to see the gallery right away and flick away pictures I didn't like. Not saying this is a bad thing, I'm sure plenty of people absolutely love that. Personally, i think it's lacking, but I still think the phone is amazing, I'll probably end up getting rid of my Nexus for a Note 2 and then adding some nice rom on this one to make it look Nexus...ish.

I personally love HTC Sense. However I have come to love the stock android experience.
Ive used sense from OG EVO, Evo LTE, and now DNA. Sense does some pretty cool things and its VERY polished. On the DNA there is no lag and thanks to the 2GB or ram i wouldnt worry at all about it. Ive never had a single issue with it. Its really organized and easy to find what you are looking for. I would say that its the most complete android OEM launcher. Icons are very polished same goes for apps and widgets. I really dont get why people dont like it... whats not to love about it? sure stock is wonderful but sense is just as good if not better.
Someone else mentioned multitasking windows. a side note to that... its only supported by a few samsung devices running crapwiz and its very under developed. Not even avail. to US devices (without root, please correct me if im wrong on this, i dont want to mislead anyone)
I would say Sense kinda ruined the rest of android launcher experiences due to the fact that Its just really that good. I dare you to give it a whole hearted run through and tell me that it just isnt all that... go ahead try it.

Those are just the widgets though, Sense is much more then the widgets. For example, you have all the great sharing options, the cool animations, lock screen widgets, and all the widgets you mentioned still have their apps you can open. So no, you don't lose sense just by switching launchers, you lose just the nice widgets, and you can find replacements for most of them in the play store. :good:

The Sense seems like an alternative launcher, where as the Touchwiz makes itself seem like a different OS entirely, due to all the Touchwiz gimmicks integrated through out the system.
I honestly love the Sense UI. I've used it since my Incredible, and every custom ROM I've put on that and my Rezound has had Sense. I don't find that it negatively affects performance in any way, and (for me at least) it greatly enhances the user experience. I was helping my girlfriend set up her new Asus Transformer Tablet running stock 4.1 Jellybean, and also her mom's new SIII, and the lack of widgets and functionality from Sense that I've now taken for granted was seriously bothering me. Plus, Sense is pretty

Ha I was also wondering this. Was just about to ask and saw this thread. I was wanting to make a sleek simple homescreen and someone said I couldn't change icons with stock launcher.
How easy is it to switch back and forth between launchers?
As easy as installing from the play store and running it.

But would it keep all the settings. Like could you set up two different launchers and have them set the way you want. Then just feel like going to a different look one day just because you feel like it lol.
Yes. A launcher is just an app like any other app. Settings get saved.
Nova, have used it since I got my Galaxy S2. Love it easy backup/restore change icons individually, and more!
Just installed Nova Launcher and gotta say its pretty cool. Here's what I created. Just two questions. Can nova launcher make the status bar clear? And I used simple text to change icons on the dock but it has black background behind the words. Can I make that clear somehow.
