I am a user of Google Music All Access service (i wont explain how i got it to work outside the US) and the app automatically downloads songs i add to my libarary for offline usage.
The songs are in data/data/com.google.android.music
However despite the full size and valid extension they cannot be played in any other app then Google Play (not even when i transfer them to the PC)
ARE they encrypted? If so how to fix this?

They are most probably encrypted to stop piracy.

There is no way to decrypt them at this time, but you can always plug in your phone to your PC with a 3,5 audio cable from headphone jack on phone to microphone jack on PC. Then record each song with like sound recorder or Audacity.
Bump on this - It has been almost a year, and the service is now rolling out in Canada and other. Somebody must have looked into this?

Obviously not. Because this enables piracy, and we all know XDA doesn't condone that.
I can't test it at the minute but I'm fairly certain that if you log into Google Play Music on a PC, there is an option to download the individual tracks as MP3's. I think it allows you to do it 2 or 3 times per track.
Why not just do that instead of worrying about decrypting music on your phone?

Open chrome > new tab Incognito > enable desktopmode > visit the play music site> login to your google account> locate the purchased song and download( you can only download 2 times through the web).

Hi everbody.
I have Sensation with Android 2.3.5 right now. And there is a problem I couldn't solve and find any solution about it.
Some of my musics don't show up on library no matter which music player I use. These songs don't have any particular property that can cause it. Half of the songs of same album or different bitrates or same bitrates or same tags or different tags. It's just mixed at all.
I can see and play these songs using file explorers.
Different roms don't change anything either. Sense or CM.
Deleting and copying music files again or tagging again didn't solve.
Formatting SD card didn't solve.
Deleting cache of MediaProvider.apk didn't solve.
Changing file manes or folder didn't solve.
I use cover art downloader to refresh mediastore everytime but it doesn't stick.
I'm tired of it.
I'm open to the ideas...
What is the format of your songs that can't play normally?

I don't have this problem. I have up to 22mb mp3, 512kbps bitrate, mp3 or flac format.. btw, I use Google music.
If you try to search the music using search option in music app, will it work?

Mines are V0 Mp3 and their size are up to 15 MB. Average is 8 MB. Totally 1567 songs.
Search can't find them either because they're not included in library.
Btw, there are people who have that problem on the net. Even on Google forums(I don't know exact name) after long conversations still no solution as far as I read.
So no one has any clue?

Tried an hour ago, it added the missing songs to the library. Just came back to check if it's still ok but no luck. They dissapeared again.
unfortunatly I am kinda having same problem but I think mine is a bit more irritating. ever since I updated to gingerbread on my thunderbolt all and I mean all my music was misscatigorized, band names changed ,song names changed. it appears that the only ones that didnt change were one that had all info even album art. even newly downloaded songs are misscatagorized. im considering deleting the stock player all together . who the hell has the time to go threw and re name everything or re download .

It's not supposed to. Play Music is only for music you have uploaded to Play Music
Go the the phone browser, navigate to Google play music and then upload the tracks you have. You'll be advised to do this on a desktop if you have more than as few you want doing

Well, seeing as 3 days ago it let me move all the music to the SD card, and originally had no problem recognizing it at first, its strange that it is suddenly not supposed to.
So. Let's get this answered. Why doesn't the music work / play in cm10 ? Can someone specify suggestions ? Please and thanks

Music works fine over here...for the most part. The only issues in terms of music after flashing ROMs was that my songs doubled and if I played the doubled version I'd get an error message. I also noticed my music library contains notification sounds and audio from my videos I've taken, a little odd but im still able to listen to music with out any real issues. What are your issues?

I had the same problems, so I would just go back and flash cm9
I founded out when you flash a new ROM and music seems to not play or find. You want to get a file explorer and go on your storage and look for a file that says "No music" and delete it. I did that and now my music play's perfectly
Hope that helped!
I'm an idiot when it comes to cloud storage. I have a bunch of music and I know it won't fit with the 16gb capacity on my DNA so I was wondering if there is a website or an app that will let me access all of my music from my computer on my phone?

I use BubbleUPnP to stream media from my pc. Works great with pix, music, and video. You need to install the server software on your pc to stream over mobile network.
Win7, media player 11 works great for me. I use MX player as a renderer on my phone. It has the best codec support.
There are several free cloud storage services but I don't know if you can stream to your phone from them

Google music lets you store like 20k songs for free. Also drop box gives you 25 gigs of storage although I think that might be only for verizon.

When I opened drop box on my DNA I had to go through a tutorial and then I got the extra space. Not sure if its a Verizon thing or not.
I'm gonna look for the tutorial. I gained a little space (500mb) for auto upload but didn't see an opportunity for the rest. Will check it out

I don't know if this would be able to cover all of your needs, but you should check out Bitcasa. It's a new Cloud Storage service and I like it very much. You sign up and start off with 10gb free and you can upgrade to unlimited storage for $10 a month.
I use Bitcasa for my pictures and documents, but I use Spotify for music though... but I still hope this helps! :good:
Yeah I use Google music. Download the uploader from the Google music page and just start uploading your music then you can also redownload it later to all of your devices if you want to or stream it

Try Plex
Plex, app and desktop media server work well. I think the app is $5 but it works not only for music but you can access your movies, pictures, anything you upload to the app you can watch from pretty much anywhere. But for a free alternative, use google music.
I've been using Subsonic for a few years now. I have the Subsonic server installed on my desktop at home which allows me to stream all of my movies and music to my phone or computer. It was pretty easy to setup.

The dna does not have a dropbox promotion associated with it. You probably got it from a Rom which includes a promotion from a different device.

No it has nothing to do with any roms. When I first installed dropbox on my DNA it had the 25gb bonus once I completed their tutorial. If you Google "HTC DNA dropbox" the first link from dropbox.com has all the details.

Yep, Dropbox 4.0/4+ bonus is not available for Verizon. Some people were able to get it from custom roms. I received a small bonus when i was on a custom rom with my thunderbolt so maybe that is why I cant get the second 4+ (25gig) bonus on my ViperDNA. You might be only able to receive the bonus (w/ custom rom) if you have not received any other sense bonuses in the past.
I My Google music uploaded on my pc stopped working and I get the couldn't connect to Google play. I have tried un installing reinstalling and disabling av as well as sent logs to Google and tried the access code and it still won't work. I have been working with Google for 2 months. So today I got an email and they have forwarded my case to a supervisor because the rep I initially got was horrible and they also credited me 10$ for inconvienece. Which is nice but it's still not working. I have had to transfer music to my laptop and upload which I use only for school so it's a pain in the butt has anyone had this issue and found a fix for it just curious because I don't think Google knows what to do.

Have you tried creating a second gmail/google account and using that for music? Your phone can have several google accounts setup. I have a google account with all my music synced to it; and all of my family put that account on their phone, in addition to their own personal google account. That way they have access to the same music, and we only sync the music from the computer to one account, instead of many accounts.
No my account is fine it's the upload program for the pc that doesn't work. It says it can't connect to the Google play servers so I can't even get into the sign in app...

Yeah I did download it to my pc, and it wont let me copy it to my droid using my cable because it says the file is protected I assume that means the drm is preventing it. I might try stripping the drm and converting the file to a different file type that android can read since we cant read .wmv files which is what it downloads as.

Or since you already legally bought it, just download it through a torrent. That is the real use for torrents don'tcha know

I literally lol'd. You bought it, you own it, therefore if you torrent it and get "caught" you can prove that you were either A. Backing it up and/or B. Converting it to a compatible format - which in both cases is not pirating. Torrenting has legitimate uses too bro.

Use an alternate android media player, such as MX Player. It plays a ton of different file formats that the default android player won't.
I use MX Player to play tons of files natively without converting, like hi10p 1080p Anime with dual audio and soft subs. You can also download a custom ffmpeg plugin to support DTS audio, which i think is the only major thing it's missing by default.
This is much more convenient than converting every movie you want to put on your phone. The DNA is more than powerful enough to play all the common formats.

I think its the drm that was the issue
Sent from my HTC6435LVW using xda app-developers app
So I used audible tunebite 10 it's actually quite a unique software. Basically since the file is protected by drm and I need to convert it so I can copy it to my phone I opened up tunebite and converted it. Tunebite re records the movie and takes what ever is going through the sound card and on the screen it then converts the file and you can do as you please with it because the new converted file is not protected by drm. The new output had basically the same quality as the original. Only con is it took about 2 and a half hours so I just watched the movie again. It's also really good for music. An example that you can use it for is let's say I want a song so I open up spotify turn record on in tunebite and it will capture the sound going through the sound card and then convert it to a file format I want. It also then automaticallt tags the song and then I can do as I please with it. It's a very nice software and you can buy it from their site or through amazon like I did.
There is a free trial that you can use to see what the software is capable of before you buy it that's what I did and I liked it. With the trial you are limited on how long you can recorded and what not but it's just to get a taste of it and see the results. Overall I think it works very well and I will deffidently get my money's worth.

Yes that is probably not legal however the main reason I am using this is really just to make a copy of the movie I bought to covert it to a readable format and be able to play the movie on my nexus 7. Also since I'm just making a copy in a different format the drm has not been touched from the original file.
