[Q] Looking for working CIFS module or kernel - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S 4

I'm looking for either a kernel with cifs (samba, or windows networking support for those who don't know ) support or a working module for cifs. I'm currently running stock (rooted with clockworkmod recovery), and while willing to change to a different rom, I'd like to find one that works with stock.
Is there anything out there?

Don't think so yet as the phone is still pretty new.

Kernel?

I just installed the new elelinux 2.2 special edition with the latest radio and everything is working perfectly so far. However, I've seen all this banter about kernels thrown about and I was just wondering if some body could explain what they are and why I should install the latest '11' version?
I've tried searching, but I couldn't find any clear answers. Thanks!
edit: if somebody could also tell me how to setup hotmail in the email app, that would be great
Should really be posted in, and will likely get moved to q&a. However, basically a kernel is the bridge between hardware and software. Different kernels have different optimisations in them, and most people have found flykernel to be one of the better ones.
Install it if you like (I love it personally) but your phone wont stop working if you don't.

I think Flykernel11 is already included in Elelinux's Special Edition:

No need to flash it over that, i think.
you could look up IMAP and POP3 for mailapp here: Klick!
Sorry for the German Language, cant find it in English ATM.

hi,
nobody for a help?? :'(
You build SEandroid with the kernel, so if some of modded kernels here are open source you can do it. It''s going to be on by default (well, rumoured) starting with Android 4.2 but apparently there's an option to disable it so you can root the phone.
What kernel are you using, standard aosp or modded?
hi derpsec,
thxx for your message, i truelly appreciate.
i am running this rom at the moment http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1588669 but i don t think there are any kernels available for that, it seems they are all for ics not jb.
but i wanted to integrate it into a gb rom on my nexus one for test (based on cm7)
thxx for your help, very nice of you
best regards

Well, there is a different section called the "Q & A Section" where you can actually ask these questions.
And, every ROM specifies it's features from the software version to the base, from the kernel to the modem.. Read around a little bit and you can get to know all by yourself.

First, questions are not encouraged in General Section. Read rules before doing some action.
Second, have you read OP of that kernel you want to install? If no, then read it
If yes, then follow it
Third, There is no best mod. Some may like one and some may another.
Fourth, kernels are in development section, go and read the thread, you'll know how to do it
