[Q] My Prime is Bricked. Need some consultation. - Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime

I recently purchased a used Transformer Prime. It was rooted and flashed with an old version of CM9. I wanted to install Androwook 2.2. Knowing the issues with older versions of ClockworkMod, I updated it to 5.x. I flashed the asus with the "Upgrade HairyBean 4.2.1 Bootloader and Recovery" all went smoothly. I than flashed Hairybean 2.2, restarted. I got stuck in the infamous boot loop via Clockworkmod. Not a problem. I went into adb/fastboot mode and altered the bootloader so that when booting it would boot the OS before the Clockworkmod. Well now it froze at the splash screen.
Here is where the problem got really large. I followed a few other forums and booted into the menu where you can usb, data wipe or boot. I data-wiped, thinking that I could just move a rom onto my external sd card. I did not know that clockworkmod uses the internal sdcard. D***. Well I figured I could move the rom from the external sd card to the internal via command prompt. But neither fastboot, ADB or command prompt recolonizes my prime.
So I downloaded the Android SDK and installed the google drivers, to no avail. So I downloaded PDAnet in hopes of using there drivers. It doesn't recognize the prime either. In device manager I see nothing related to an android device.
I need to be able to access the transformer on my pc to move files over and hopefully unbrick this bad boy. I could use any help I can get. Any ideas?

You're hard bricked and because of you're lack of reading we are mocking you in private chat
EDIT: YOU ACTUALLY PROBABLY AREN'T HARD BRICKED. Hopefully that scared you into reading more next time. Please explain when you installed clockwork recovery. Did you do it before or after the Hairy Bean Bootloader Upgrade zip?

its true, we are but, I want to know how you ended up with cwm after installing the hb bootloader recovery upgrade?

I appreciate the mocking. haha. CWM was already on when I bought it. I tried to override it, to no avail.
Anyhow a very nice gentleman over at rootzwiki has helped move forward.
At this point I have TWRP installed. A rom on my external SD card. The problem is TWRP does not see the rom or any files at all.
I have discovered this tablet does not have NVFlash and the bootloader is locked. So that needs to be adddresed.
Right now I believe I need to move the rom from the external sd card to internal storage via a ADB on my windows pc. Any thoughts?

I have been trying to help the OP for the last several hours and so far we have established the following:
1. He wiped his device using the Asus Bootloader (one of the options next to RCK and Fastboot)
2. Couldn't boot up but went directly into CWM
3. I advised him to flash TWRP (latest version Asus ICS Bootloader version since he said the splash screen says "Eee Pad" indicating an ICS bootloader).
4. He's most likely LOCKED with his bootloader since it doesn't say "This Device is unlocked" or "AndroidRoot 9.....(indicating he has nvflash enabled)
5. He has a working version of TWRP and can access ADB + Fastboot (haven't tried APX mode)
6. TWRP does not see his ROM on the external sdcard and there's nothing on the internal memory.
WHAT can we do to help him? Yea, yea we've all made mistakes let move on and help him out... thanks:fingers-crossed:

Anyone have the proper adb commands to copy/move the Virtuous ROM from the EXt sd card to Internal memory?

TWRP should read the sd card. I'd try another sd card. TWRP has issues with some larger cards and I believe sandisk extreme cards are fussy as well

I said the same thing, and asked him to check the file extensions since Windows sometimes hides it and a common mistake is adding two file extensions. He checked that, and it wasn't the case. I'm not sure why twrp wouldn't read the sdcard but he also said it wouldn't Mount....

The SD card setup is a samsung 32gb micro sd card in a sd card adapter. It has been formatted in FAT32. I've had no problems with it until now.
I tried to do an command prompt run.
I ran "adb push C:/Desktop/rom.zip \data\media
But now my adb and fastboot dont recognize the tablet in fastboot mode, yet it is recognized in Device Manager.

I would try using it without the adaptor... You could always uninstall and reinstall naked Drivers through Device Manager... if you do always remember to reboot your computer..

I have absolutely no Idea what you two are talking about and I have seen a lot of cofusing stuff posted on these walls. If he has any recovery on his device his device is unlocked period.
eee pad does not indicate what bootloader is installed only the location of that symbol on the splash screen.
I suggest you stop "helping" him before you come up with an Idea that does brick him. I am going to bed. the op should turn the darned thing off and wait for a competent authority to come to his aid.

what are you talking about? if you have a custom recovery on your asus transformer prime tf201 such as cwm or twrp, you have an unlocked device and nothing will ever send you back
further, if you have twrp and it cant see your micro sd card, try a different one.

It is possible to be rooted and not unlocked. I don't know how a bootloader could be flashed with it being locked, but when the stock bootloader is unlocked it says, "This Device is Unlocked" at the top left part of the screen. Does it not? If he had nvflash enabled, this (
"This Device is Unlocked" ) would be replaced by The AndroidRoot 9....# instead. Neither apply to him. You answer.

ok listen the most basic fact about the prime is that you need to have an unlocked prime to install a custom recovery. tell me I am wrong

Andrew has done nothing but help me. He did not make anything worse off. I dont have another sd card laying around. I cant take the adapter off and insert it in the transformer prime since it only accepts SD cards and not mini sd cards.

[Q] 16GB Nook Tablet CM7 Won't Re-boot

I have a 16GB Nook Tablet that had the software 1.4.2 on it. I rooted it using the sd card method and installed CM7. Rom ran perfectly. I turned off boot animation. I held down power button to restart and now it won't turn on. I boot into clockwork mod to try and reflash something but get an error.
Can you still boot into your CM7 SD ROM?

I don't think so. I formatted the sd card so I could put pictures ect back on. I then re-made sd boot disk but still doesn't work.
Tried [UnBrick]TOTAL WIPE and reflash back to 1.4.0 via Ubuntu Recovery and it gets stuck at "writing all zeros to MLO"
Noob needs some assistance, haha

Try to find the Barnes and Noble factory image in the Development subforum.
I can't remember where it is but you write the image to an SD card and just power on the device with the card inside and observe a complete restore.

I somehow screwed up my partitions recently. Couldn't get out of bootloop. Let me look for the method I used. Brb
ok. to begin, here's how i screwed mine up. i was running cm9 with cyanoboot and twrp. i was running through several backups and compressing them. after one, i ended up in a bootloop with cyanoboot that continuously went to recovery. i do not know what all was wrong with the device specificly, but i tried adamoutlers ubuntu, and various other steps. nothing worked. i found my solution using several different threads. ultimately, this is what worked....
i can not claim any responsibility if this screws up your device more than it already is.
read all of this and these links before performing anything. fully charge your device beforehand!
get SDFormatter to have properly a properly formatted sdcard
my NT is a 16gb, and i use a windows 7 pc.
first, create a bootable cwm sdcard. NOTE: i was able to get both steps below onto the root of the sdcard.
second, run this zip to clear the boot count... you may or may not need this. i dont see where it would hurt starting fresh.
http://www.mediafire.com/?lybnkrvgjnqc65b
(original post- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=26570960&postcount=18)
third, replace partition 1-4 and 6. i presume this restores the b&n recovery. run this zip...
http://www.mediafire.com/?z2n5h3k81a0nsy8
(original post - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=26575066&postcount=20)
fourth, restore the stock 1.4.2 rom, unrooted.
i used this method: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=26329581&postcount=1
you may already have a copy of the stock rom, but if you are getting errors, i would download another. CHECKSUM!!!!! i have dicked up more devices than i care to count because of a bad download. i now use MD5_SHA-1 Utility. google it for download.
then i re-rooted using this sdcard method: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=21275927&postcount=1
again, i can not claim any responsibility if this screws up your device more than it already is. i do hope this helps. it fixed mine.

Wiped System?No OS on twrp2.2

hello
First time, Long time. Just managed to install twrp2.2 and it is a nice ui for any sytem. But my issue is rough.
I was going to install a new rom with a Merto pcs service flashed over from Sprint. Unlocked S-om with rom manager on it
when I received it back. Read alot and many peple claim it is ok to stay with 1.50 so-on, others say to go back to 1.40.
I managed to root the device per maxs evo hacks and until I installed and accidently wiped kel/cashe, System by accident,
Anyways I even tried removing the 8 gig sd card and used a fully backed up same card to try and get recovery img file to boot into.
No luck because it goes into a screen that says (Parsing...[SD ZIP under that it says [1] RECOVERY . Then , Do you want to update
up=yes , down = No. Tried yes and continues bootloop.
Then I tried putting back the other sd card and that allows me to go onto the twrp ui but no ofixes that I know of or can do.
Can anyone help me, I will look out for you, really.
Thanks in advance. D-ACman Florida.
If I read correctly, you need to take out your SD card and put into a PC to remove the pg86100.zip img off of it. Put it back then go back to the bootloader and go to recovery. After that, flash a rom.

Ok I can try that but believe me I tried to do just that when thigs went crazy. So I though I should reinstall stock ruu after accidentally
wipeing my system along with cashe/kalvik/ and complete wipe, I somehow wiped the bootdrive of what it is telling me is the is no OS
installed si I'm at a loss and I k now if I can get into trwp recovery I can get a Rom either stock or other to be read and installed.
Each time I get bootloops and what I'm thinking is I should have take fastboot off when try to install an ICS rom, but that is still not the issue
I just believe I wiped eveything because of the statement on twrp ui that there is no OS installed.
I really appreciate whatever feedback and instructions you can give me. Just tell me what to try or do and I will
Thanks very much.
Download twrp recovery.img file. Put into your adb platform tools folder.
With phone off hold volume down & power.
Once in the bootloader, select fastboot.
Open a command from your platform tools folder. Then type..
fastboot boot recovery.img
Then just flash another ROM. If your sdcard is wiped , just toggle USB mass storage in recovery & transfer from computer.
Hope that helps

Ok woke up early today and I had seen this type of fix on another page on Q&A. SO first I had to get the file but you cant just
open prompt and type a command but I k now I had to go to the tools folder after inserting the .img file. Ok did that.
Since I have always kept my SDk in the root of my C:dr it's easier to hold shift down and right click on the tools folder then I placed the commands and brother, for lack of a better word or terminology,--- Absolutlely nothing happens.
Now am I using the right syntax commands? maybe not but the way you gave me the advice I thought it might get the img file onto the internal
drive of the phone.
Man I tried to even put the trwpzip file onto the sdcard and install it, unfortunetly that did'nt work either. So when I use the file manager
in TWRP2.2 I can see the files in the root of the phone and when I go and tap on the inner usb dr I have no files that I can see. What I might
have to do is to take snapshots of the actual menus I am seeing and perhaps I can get help that way.
I know it is difficult when you can't see exactly what is on my phone screen.
What about the DUMLOCK method within the ui of twrp. I have to digest some info on that section for I have'nt a clue about what the
dumlock does but if it's in the twrp UI it must be of some importance.
I really appreciate what you guys are doing for me and wether I get it fixed with or without your methods I will definately give U points for
taking time out to read my issues. I have not mentioned that I also have a duplicate phone (My 1st EVO) and that one came with 1.40 H-Boot
as opposed to this one with 1.50. nevertheless it is a good feeling, I know, when you can get ur **** running and installing Roms like if it was
a candy store. Im an old school type guy, as far as age is concerned and I am a Self employed Sub HVAC/R TECH and I Love to play with
ANdroid and all that goes with Flashing. I just wish I would have went to school for Computer Programming instead of AC.
But it is what it is. Sorry for the long life history and thanks again, If U can figure something else out please reply. Thanks
D-ACman
Still on Bootloop

Ok here I'll try again.
Phone is Evo3d Flashed to Metro PCS
phone is unlocked and S-ON
TWRP 2.2 recovery
when noticed I was low on space on my micro sd card I then replaced it witha pny 32 gig class 4 sd card
It comes already formatted 32 fat but I did another clean format on the computer
I replaced or copied everything onto the new card then installed it the working evo 3-d
I was on mikV for a few days but once I got into leedroid tweeks I then decided to just flash my nandroid recovery and go
back to stock.
At that time I was on CWM 4040 or something to that affect.
I noticed the beautiful UI for the TWRP 2.2 and decided to use that recovery.
As soon as I decided to use another custom rom the **** hit the fan.
So now I'm back where I started and I am reading many posts where I think I need to go and relock the phone
then install the stock rom and hopefully that will work.
What I need is to get step by step on the command prompts and computer to recognize the phone
when I try to place the image thats necessary to do the "fastboot lock commands and that it is seen working.
That's where I'm stuck at and am going from this dell laptop computer to my desktop and start the ADK/SDK download
put it in the C: drive and hopefully In the cprompt it will communicate to the phone.
I there a nooby guide to the step by step command procedure to do this?

Help with unbricking

I am ready to break something!!!
OK, after spending over a day reading and trying different things to no avail, my brain is a jumbled mess
i have a 16gb NT it was updated to the 1.4.3 when i started. I rooted it using indirect/brianf21 sd card method. everything worked fine for the little bit that i messed with it in this state. i then moved on to Veronica's CM7beta_ribbon_ICS rom for the most part everything was working. I installed a few apps from the market and on a reboot i got stuck in a bootloop. powered off, bootloop again. so i booted into CWM and tried reflashing the ROM only to be met with the 'please restart you device' screen. its all downhill from there. i can currently boot into CWM internally and have tried many different methods. so right now i dont get the 'restart' screen as it just goes into CWM. I have never worked with ABD but have been fighting drivers trying to get my nook to show up and having no luck so that i might try something there. i am new to rooting on the NT but have rooted and flashed different roms to my phone so i feel i have a basic concept. i dont know if im having so much of an issue cuz of the 1.4.3 or what **sigh**
I am now defeated and am in need of some help!!! haha! if anyone has anything to offer i would be so very thankful!

in order to get drivers working while in recocery mode you need to find the product id of the nook while its in cwm. in windows you need to go to device manager and check to see if your nook shows up in "other devices". then right click and go to properties and go to the tab that relates to hardware and find the neccessary info.
after that you should see two lines. ypu need to copy those two to the android_win.inf and modify the lines in there with notepad or something.
then try installing drivers and it shouls pick it up

thanks for the reply. ok my nook is showing up as a mass storage device under other devices but is also showing up under android phone as 'android composite ADB interface' and also under portable devices as 2 drives G: and H: both unclickable. when i right click the android phone i get a hardware tab but all i see there is device functions and device functions summery so im not sure of the info that you are referring to that i need. i have been at this all day and apologize if i am missing something because im tired haha. the other file i found was called android_winusb.inf, is this the right one? thanks again for your help!

yea that inf file is the one you need to modify. but you already have adb composite interface... so that means drivers are installed.
what happens when you do adb devices after you get into cwm. what's the output?

did you download the drivers and adb zip from one of the threads? that archive should have all you need for adb. after extractng you need to navigate to the extracted folder and do adb devices.
try looking in thr general section for these drivers I was talking about.
there should be a thread by lavero burgos in there.

ok well now you have adb working. now the problem is how to fix your problem lol... I'll see if I can think of something.
in the meantime can you go into detail as to how you got tto your current situation?
EDIT: do you get any errors when booting into cwm? like not being able to mount a certain drive or something?
Sent from my Nook Tablet CM7 BETA using xda premium app
no errors booting into cwm internal and never had a problem when booting into it from an sd card. i flashed it internally hoping it would be a little easier seeing as how i only have one sd card but i am going to go get another today just to work through this.
nook started on 1.4.3 i rooted it using brianf23 and indirects sd card method. market and everything worked great. so i flashed Veronica's CM7beta_ribbon_ICS rom. everything for the most part was working, tho i did notice that some menu items would not open for me but they were noting i really needed to mess with at the time. so i installed a few apps and was done for the day. turned it on the next day and got stuck in a bootloop, so powered off and rebooted but got the same bootloop. booted into recovery did the standard dalvik cache ect and reflashed the rom, hoping this might fix the loop. upon rebooting is when i got stuck at the 'please reboot your device' screen. i have tried several methods of just flashing to stock ect, formatted my sd correctly and made sure it was active to try and flash back to stock that way but my nook will not boot from sd. so 12+ hours later i hung my head and asked for help lol! thanks to you i am able to start ADB no clue what to do but hey....step in the right direction!
Happy Dance
i got it working back to stock!! thank you so much for getting me going with ADB, without your help i would have stayed lost. i used kring789's ADB instructions and *poof* it rebooted to stock :good::good: thanks again for your help!

Samsung Galaxy Note II stuck at bootscreen [OS flashing?]

Well. It's my worst fear. Launched the DPI changer app, attempted to change my DPI (to a valid amount) and nothing happened, no big deal. My wireless connections stopped working and my shop stopped working. I downloaded a different DPI changer, everything was working except Google Play. I attempted everything then decided to tell it to "change" my DPI to default. Went to reboot then bam.
I get the following:
The standard splash with the Verizon 4GLite then it goes on to loop at the Samsung splash for a bit then loops from the beginning (4GLite).
I've tried getting into "recovery" mode but it won't go, I do not know why. (Vol up + home + power). Need help please, thanks.
(Noob alert, if you mention anything that I might need, if you could please supply a DL link to minimize any more mess ups I might make)
EDIT: I got into recovery mode I forgot you were able to remove the battery (I was panicking, I apologize) I am also rooted with 4.2
EDIT2: I've attempted a factory reset, nothing new happened.
EDIT3: I need to reflash an OS. I'm really freaking out. It says I don't have a bootloader (OS).
Bottom line: This problem kinda... multiplied itself most likely based on my own stupidity. I'm keeping it at the "Team Win Recovery Project v2.5.0.0" recovery menu because I don't even want to boot into anything. Awaiting instructions.

I saw you posted this in the att forums but I think I can help. Just download any ROM and flash it. Twrp has a failsafe now that will basically prevent you from bricking your phone if no os is detected. Do you have an external memory card? If you do transfer a ROM to your card, put it in your device, and flash it. Your not bricked.....your just soft bricked. Or you can always go back to stock. I'm sure your device thread has instructions on how to Odin back to stock. Hope this helps

So if I wanted to flash stock, I just need to put the stock rom on my ESD put it into my phone and flash it from the recovery menu? Is there more to it than that? Or do I need to do that all externally with "Odin"? Where would I obtain the stock rom? And thank you for your response.

Sadly, no. I didn't. You are correct, I am very new to this sort of thing, I've rooted other devices before (simple one click only, I'm good with computers, but not smart phones) but nothing has blown up this bad before. I've placed this rom (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2261478) on my ESD however, when I put my ESD back in, it reads it as blank. I'm assuming I need to relaunch recover mode to refresh its directories. However I'm very scared to do that because I have no OS anymore.

Just navigate in your recovery back to your internal SD then back to your external. If that does not work then go to the reboot menu in TWRP and and hit recovery. It will restart your recovery only and should refresh what is sees on your external card. If that does not work go to mount and make sure external SD is ticked in the settings, if not then tick it, Reboot recovery again. If still that doesnt work then go to Advanced, file manager, and navigate to your external SD (if you can) and find the file you downloaded, pick the zip file and move it to your internal SD. Then flash it. Regardless of any of these steps if you can find the .zip file flash it. Then reboot. Hope that helps you. You should be able to reboot to recovery any time you need to regardless of no OS. Please keep your phone charging during this whole process. If this works then make a nandroid backup in Twrp.

Edit- If none of this works then you'll probably have to adb sideload your phone to transfer the rom to your internal SD card. Otherwise you can ODIN back to 100% stock which involves a huge download and you'll have to reroot your phone. If you don't know how to ODIN to stock then get on youtube and there are plenty of videos to help you along. The basis for the note 2 (att, verizon, sprint,....) should all be the same just a different file to download.

I rebooted into recovery. I only hesitated because it warned me I didn't have an OS. That worked, I saw the ROM and am now flashing it. I will edit and let you know if all works.
EDIT: It worked, thank you so much for your time and effort! I'm sure it's a pain dealing with noobies, I hope this helps people in the future since it's very friendly to beginners. I hope to not come back to this thread and say something isn't working properly.

No problem man. Not everyone here is a butthole. Its not a pain because I was there once too. Just make sure you run a backup in twrp. You can name it too! Just practice and read around. Watch YouTube videos (I learn by visual)
And I keep my backups on PC in case a memory card goes bad. If you wipe system in recovery make sure you flash a ROM because system is obviously your OS and twrp prevents it from booting and bricking your device. Good choice on the recovery.
If it will at least boot to something there's always hope. be sure to hit the thanks button. It always helps. Glad to have gotten you up and running. If you need more help just pm me.

[Q] Is this the right procedure?

Hi there,
I have been given a Sony Tablet S (S1) by a family member who said if i can fix it i can keep it. Im used to rooting phones and other tablets but I just want to make sure I'm not going to make this worse.
Basically the tablet is soft bricked and stays on the Sony boot screen. I can enter recovery. As far as I can tell, the tablet got this way after it lost power in the middle of an official OTA update.
What recovery image should I be using to instal on the recovery screen? HC, ICS? ive been looking for a while and I'm either just finding dead links or rooted images.
Whatever I try it has to be something i can put on the sd and access from the recovery as i cannot get my computer to recognise the tablet for any adb stuff.

What was the android version revision? r1a,r5,r5a?
If you can access recovery try the latest update from stiflizs sig or his post "faq please sticky this" in general try flashing it twice with the tablet either pluged in or fully charged also try installing the drivers manually thru device manager on pc. Your sd card must be fat32 formatted with the ota update or thetab will not see it
By the sounds of it you might have to push the update thru adb or part there of as the previous attempt might have changed your incremental higher and it wont take the same update again get a logcat after the flash and post here fot stif to look at
If you explain the situation to sony they might fix for free that's a big might
rooted lighting wildfire on unoffical j.b from benni
and sony XTS rooted stock j.b thanks djrbliss

Having some trouble here. I have tried numerous links now and all of them when transferred to my SD (or any other flash device) come up with the message "please insert the last disk of the multi-volume set". Windows also cannot open the folders and just says the zips are empty. I have tried new and old UK, US and AUS zips from the sony links in your thread and our own 4shared account stifilz. Whats going on???

For starters they are encrypted so you won't be able to unzip them normally. You are copying the intact zip over? Will be a problem with you pc then. Do you have another to try?
