I'm glad it's coming soon. I'm wondering what benefits would buying from best buy vs verizon.
I am actually looking to buy two.
One as an upgrade for myself. The other for my girlfriend, porting her number over from sprint.
Upgrade for me I know either will be fine. But I am unsure how well BBY can port numbers and if it would be better dealing with verizon directly.
Best Buy no MIR (I guess none at Verizon too), larger selection of cases and accesories. Best Buy still has a machine that can transfer contacts and photos (e.g. if you're not coming from a prior google phone w/ backed up contacts). If you want protection best buy has a 9.99 a month option, covers accidental damage, battery replacement, hardware issues (but not theft) no deductible while verizon's insurance is cheaper, has a deductible. Free enrollment right now with the buy back program.
Cons: limited stock, generally not sent as many units as verizon (highly suggest you pre-order), some people just hate best buy and refuse to shop there. some accessories might be more expensive
As far as porting goes, just bring in your girlfriends bill or account number and best buy will have no problems porting over her sprint number. just make sure she is fully out of contract vs eligible for an upgrade. Otherwise she will pay an etf with sprint.
Thanks for the info!
I don't care much for best buy either but will shop there when deals are good.
She will have a etf regardless but with her contant dropped calls it is worth it.
Anyway, I don't usually load up on accessories. When I do it is usually an extended battery and holdster from seidio. I love seido.
One question.... can best buy bill equipment to my account if I pre-order?
I'd like to have one billed on my account for my upgrade... I asked a best buy rep.... said not possible. So VZW for at least one of them
Yea they cannot bill through Verizon. As far as extended batteries go, the one that is currently sold for the evo probably wont work
Does anyone know if BB can transfer an upgrade from another line on the account for a preorder?

just activate it on that line then call vzw and have them move the phones to the correct lines... I had to do this for my incredible... you just have to call and then hit *228 and reprogram both phones after they correct the esn numbers...
If i have an early upgrade (upgrade after 13 months on a 2-year contract) can i buy the phone at a 2-year contract price from best buy?

I don't think VZW will let anyone release this phone before they do.

Well I went and preordered, and no one said anything about requiring an upgrade. And I know that isn't true because you can buy phone's on BestBuy's website at full price without adding a contract.

If they won't do it then they can have their gift card back, I want my $50 back, and I'll never be back.
I bought at best buy cause it included the buy back program for free promotion... they estimated the phone will be worth 130 in 2 years when its at end of life...

Best Buy will sell the phone out right without a contract
Best Buy will not do 1 year contracts, I refuse to sign a new contract that says I have to wait 20 months for an upgrade. Not in this day in age anyway.
Just pre ordered. Buy back program is a good incentive makes for earlier upgrade possibilities. Paying full retail

Well no. Sometimes ebay sellers have a "surplus" of new phones and try to clear them out at a high-midrange price before the demand goes down. If it were me, I'd go the ebay route. If there's a problem with it, ebay guarantees returns and all that. I never buy directly from a person without a middleman.
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using Tapatalk 2
I bought my Rezound new, sealed in the box from a Verizon employee who won it at work in a contest. They already had one and needed some cash.
I paid $200.00 cash for it (after ESN was verified, etc.)
Might be the BEST 200 bucks I have ever spent.
So back to the question, watch Craigslist and have the seller meet you at at VZW store to verify the ESN. You might not find NIB, but you should be able to get a good used one for a very reasonable price.
What he said. ^^^^

I have to agree with chef Thomas I've bought a whole lot of phones on eBay brand new, around a lil over 400 sounds right for that market.
I'd go that route or craigslist local. Sometimes there's similar deals in your local area and you can do the deal in person just get the ESN ahead of time, and check it then and also check it at time of purchase.
There's a tool for that by the way I don't have a link handy but can send you one.
If you buy a phone from.an individual make sure when you send them the money it clearly states it's a purchase of a phone, because you can dispute the payment and get your money back but if its marked as a gift your stuck like chuck, it used to be that way at least.

Condition pending ...
If the device has been "fully and properly" returned to stock software, and is in excellent cosmetic condition...
Then $200 may be a bit low..
But if you sell it rooted ....and it has a few scratches or marks on the bezels or screen, then $200 is fair.
Of course, it really comes down to the right buyer, and what they are willing to pay.
And for the record, I am an advocate of honest dealing between buyer and seller.
Nothing makes a person more upset than buying blind, and having their trust betrayed...
So if any issues exist with the device, disclose them up front ...IMHO ....g
Appreciate the advice and i believe in the same. ill ask the buyer what they want rooted or not. and I'd return it to stock. Also I'm throwing in 2 cases and a spare extended battery.

$200 is on the low end for a one in great condition.
You'll know if its too low if you get a lot of hits for it (Craigslist) and people want to buy it immediately.
Why go through the extra steps of rooting it? To me that makes the phone look like its been run through the ringer...

True, but its hard to get that price locally when people will constantly compare your price to the latest phone.

The only thing that would drive me away is I don't like reserve auctions. Instead of playing the hidden reserve game with your potential buyers, just be up front with them and set your starting bid at the very least amount you would accept (around $600-$625 I would imagine?), and set the Buy It Now price at the high end of what other eBay sellers are actually selling their phones for. Just my opinion of course. This will also weed out the less serious bidders who will try to low-ball you. If you're worried about missing out on bids, do you really want people who won't pay $600+ bidding on your phone, when you know damn well it will sell for at least that amount?
One more thing - be prepared to give a prospective buyer the IMEI number off your phone (if they ask for it) so they can check to see if it's on the AT&T black list. Of course, I'm not implying you're a thief or anything. I just had a friend that bought a used AT&T iPhone off of Craigslist. When he went to activate it, AT&T wouldn't do it because it had been reported as stolen, and I think the carriers share this list nowadays. So he now basically has a wifi-only iPod touch that no carrier will touch.
Noted, and changes made. Thanks for the tip. I hope my first time selling something on eBay goes over well lol.

Wow I didn't know that. Doing a quick google search, this looks to be a brand new change that eBay implemented on May 1st. You might re-think my strategy then. I didn't know they forced you to do that now. I'd feel bad if I screwed up your auction.

I have done well selling my phone's using buy it now or best offer. I usually list it for $50 over what I actually want. At $725 I imagine you would get offers for st least 650 if not more. If you can throw in a case along with those head phones you will get some pretty good offers. I had a job selling stuff on EBay for 3 years and rarely ever did an auction. If you really want to do a timed auction make it end on a Sunday night at around 9pm eastern time.

And if you use paypal they will take a percentage as well. I sold my old HTC one x+ on ebay after not using them for years and was shocked at how much they took from me on the purchase. I sold the phone for $365 and after fees from ebay (~$38) and paypal (~$15) I lost 15% in fees. My fault I should of checked their new policy but never again

Yes it is worth it. I have a mint one X+ and One X here and i bought the ONE outright because it was so nice. You'll love it, get it! No major issues for the ONE, or any minor issues that i know of. If you get one from an ATT Corporate store (which i recommend) make sure you look it over well before they finalize your transaction. Look for gaps, rough edges anything out of the ordinary.. Better to exchange one that's not right before they marry it to your account.. Mine was perfect first try, but some have gaps and other QC issues.

I do not recommend the att store. Costco has no activation fees, they wave the upgrade fee, it's 129.99 I believe still and you get 90 days to return and exchange it in addition to a bunch of free phone accessories and an option to get a 2 year prorated damage warranty with $25 deductible.

YEah no costco in my city, maybe not in my state, never seen one. Its $99 at ATT.
The best thing to do is to try it out yourself in the store with the live models. Take some time and go through the phone ie...camera, front speakers (boom sound), Sense 5 (blink feed), ui fluidity, browser test, button layout (note: it actually takes a few days to get used to it), watching videos on the S-LCD 3 HD1080p screen (beautiful) and the overall feel of the phone. IMO it seems more of an upgrade from the One X to the HTC One than the S3 to the S4. But that's just me.

Just go for the HTC One at Costco or Sams Club. I suggest Costco if you have one. Try it risk free for 14 days, if you don't like it return it. You get NO restocking fees as these places, or at least Costco I know you don't.
Like I said, with everything you get with costco, I think it evens out and you get 90 days of exchanges. I see you have a few Costcos in Carolina.
I called in about an insurance claim because I shattered my one x screen. I didn't want to use my uprgrade but after finding out the deductible was 199.99. I talked to a rep who said she would give it to me for 99.99 since I wasn't intending on using my upgrade and she quoted me a 50.00 deductible until she found out the real price. Try calling att who knows maybe you might get a deal.
