Recovering Deleted Photos/Videos ??? - AT&T LG Optimus G

Hey guys, I accidentally deleted some family photos/videos on the LGOG. They were stored on the external SD card.
Is there any app that would help recover/restore those files?
Thanks

There isnt an app, but you could either hookup your phone with a usb cable or get a micro sd card adapter to hookup it up to your computer. Then use the program called Recuva. You can download it for free and it works really well. I've used it multiple times.

Great. Thaks
I'll give it a try

Installed Recuva.
Plugged my LGOG to the desktop. The desktop detects and I can browse the files.
However, Recuva doesn't seem to detect my LGOG as an external drive so it couldn't scan it.
Any suggestions?

Take the card out of the phone, put it in an adapter, and plug the adapted card into either your PCs built in card reader or a USB reader. Gets around potential driver issues

[Q] How too's

New to android here and was wondering if someone could direct me to a good location where I could find information about installing ring tone, pics and general stuff from PC to phone. Sorry for being a newbie but I'm from the blackberry world. I have not found a very helpful place yet for how too's.
Thanks
Well you dont have to install blackbery desktop manager on these phones lol. Just plug your phone into your computer using your usb chord. Select mount as disk drive and send what ever you want from your comouter to the ohone. Shoukd show up on your computer as removable disk

Didnt know you could mount Phone SD storage when connected with a cable

I wondered if it was possible, so when I connected it, it said cable connected on the phone. I was then able to mount storage like normal. Then in the setting-storage, I saw mount external storage, which then gave me access to the phone SD card. Pretty sweet, can transfer stuff very easily now.
nice find, this will definitely come in handy at times
Sweet, now I can transfer photos from my phone with ease! Great find!
Dropbox or AirDroid can transfer photos (and tons more) with ease & no cables needed

thats because in Android 4 / Galaxy Nexus doesnt mount as a "normal" usb device anymore. it uses the MTP protocol instead, and it mostly sucks ;-)
Doesn't work for me either - HTC Desire HD.
No go on evo 3d, just charges

Yup. I can't stand MTP. I want to use Microsoft's Synctoy to sync files between my galaxy nexus and computer, and between my Prime and my computer, but Synctoy doesn't recognize MTP devices. Anyone else have another way to easily sync files on our MTP devices?

there is an awesome app called FolderSync on the Market. It also has a lite version. You can sync via (s)ftp, dropbox and about a dozen other services!
I have it set up so it syncs my photos to my PC when i'm connected to my home network and also to transfer files from a certain folder on my PC to the tablet.

[Q] Where do I find my thumb drive?

I purchased this OTG adapter off og Amazon and it works fine with my mouse with a blue tooth adapter stuck into it. However, when I connect a thumb drive to it, I can't find it anywhere afterwords.
The phone sees the drive, scans it, the drive's light is lit. But when I go into the browser, there's nothing there indicating my thumb drive. Same result with hooking up my card reader with a CF card in it.
Am I missing something here?
Thanks,
Serge

There's nothing in the file manager. Thanks.
It should show up under USB Storage in my files or root explorer. (usually at the bottom of the list for some reason) If it's not there it probably has to do with the ROM & how it handles MTP or something b/c I use it all the time.

For me it's in /mnt/sdcard/usbStorage/sda/.
I have a stock ROM on rooted phone. So how do I remedy this? Do I need a Samsung branded adapter?

When I look there it's empty. It could be because of my card reader. I don't know. I'm going to get another USB stick and see what happens.
Thanks, guys!
Try another flash drive. I don't know if your being rooted has anything to do with it (I'm not) but my generic cable works fine with the couple of flash drives I've tested it with.

I tried another two thumb drives and all I see is an empty directory, usbStorage/cda. Funny thing when I pull the drive a message pops up saying that the drive "is not mounted empty or not present". Go figure.

Is it formatted as FAT or FAT32?
if its over 64gb mem stick it wont be detected
Works great on my phone. This is just brilliant. My phone can almost completely replace my laptop now
Edit: Question. Does a cable exist that has HDMI output AND usb functionality? (i.e. desktop mode)

How Can I Get to My Data?

I have an Atrix with a broken digitizer. Unfortunately, I did not save important stuff like camera pictures to my external sd card. I also have a lock screen which appears to be preventing the phone from connecting to the computer when plugged into the usb drive. Anything I can do to get to the internal sd?
Thanks in advance.

Which recovery is installed in your phone? If you have clockworkmod, you can plug the phone in a computer through USB and mount your internal memory, that way you can recover what's in the internal sdcard.
I have rom racers recovery installed, so it should have that option somewhere.

If all else fails, buy a lapdock. If $60 would be worth saving .your data.
I don't know if this works on Atrix(on defy it doesn't), but you could try to dump your data-partition with the linux/max commandline-tool "sbf_flash":

[Q] Storage questions about DNA

Well I love my DNA, love everything except the shortage of storage. I though heck, thats enough storage for me, boy was I wrong...lol
So my question for you guys, do you use the cloud to save excess data and/or can we use usb sticks/thumbdrives to hook up to our phones to gain extra access to data, like music and video data that takes so much room on the internal sdcards.
You can use an OTG (on the go) cable to connect a USB memory or even connect an SD card. Don't know if it works right out the box or if you need to be rooted, but it's possible.

Thanks man, that actually solves all my storage issues, thanks for taking the time to enlighten me.
I use usb otg helper to mount my micro sd card for additional storage. It also makes it easy to transfer files between phones/pcs. I can even back up directly to external sd via clockwork mod. Just mount it in recovery and then you can flash/restore/backup without having the files on your phone.
I use spotify for music, I purge my download folder every once in a while, and I only keep one nandroid backup at at time. I have no issues with storage.

For music you could use Google music, and use drive for your other stuff, such as files. Saves a lot of storage for me when you have over 1500 songs.
