[Q] Generic Imei 004999010640000, FIX with no EFS backup - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, today I flashed the stock rom after I tried the Paranoid Android Rom, then, after the reboot, I noticed There were no Signal.
Looking for some forum, I've seen the problem should be the EFS folder corrupted.
Because I didn't backup the folder without flashing, there is a way to fix it or the only way is to bring the phone to the Samsung assistence? I think it's no more in warranty, isn't it?
What if I backup an EFS Folder from another N7100? Should it work?
I tried this guide (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2159267) but in my nv.log there isn't anything like "MD5 fail. orignal md5 'XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX' computed md5 'XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX' (rild)
where the X's are a bunch of number and letters.".
Any Ideas?
In the home there is a window black with the words in yellow:
PDA: n7100XXDME6
Phone:n7100XXDME4
CSC: N7100ITVDMF1
H/W: Bit Actuve

and other words like rearcam/front cam
tsp
tsk
band: UMTS, CH: N/A
Uart: N/A, USB: N/A
UN: CVTF18AC...
Memory: 16Gb
What's it?

Can be this the problem?

No two phones have the same IMEI. So, no! Restoring another IMEI won't fix.

I have the same problem with my I9100. How you fixed it? I don't have any EFS backup.

Same problem for N7100
I have spent a whole week searching for a solution for the same problem
All the posts I have seen are useless and I reached nothing
Is there a correct solution for this problem?
I have this generic IMEI for my n7100
This happened to me after receiving the OTA update for Note 2
My phone was running the official stock rom 4.1.2
I got the update OTA, installed it then afterwards I lost the network
I searched online for a solution and found out that it has something to do with the IMEI
I opened my IMEI number to find out that it is this generic number
What to do please ?
My phone is out of service for a week now

I have same problem now.
Please someone tell the solution to this problem. I dont have EFS backup.

Help!: Galaxy S2-I9100 - Baseband/IMEI/SN/Airplane-Mode

I have a S2 phone, out of warranty was bought from Spain under the Vodafone carrier. So is not stolen/imei blacklisted or other stuff i saw around.
Was bought by a good friend of mine, now he upgraded to S3 and his old S2 went to me, i think it was rooted, had superuser and acces to /efs/.nv_data.bin. to copy them from /device to /sdcard and also had busybox installed.
Phone shows even the airplane (with ariplane mode off) or the circle with the / inside and IMEI pops with " null/null ".
I did try GSII_repair and unlock software while i had the 4.1.2 software instaled as it came (from my friend) but no use.
I did try to get the nv_data.bin file with a hexedit and search for the 181468 (if i'm not wrong) line for the FF 01 00 00 00 stuff and change the 01 to 00, ofc nothing found about that line. Also between the .bak and .bin file since i remember was no difference at all.
I did try another method to search in the nv_data.bin for the SGH thing about the serial number, again without finding anything.
I tought a stock ROM will help, so i found a tutorial and with Odin3 v1.85 i've put this rom GT-I9100_XEU_I9100XWLP7_I9100XXLPS_I9100XEULP5.tar.md5 with the pda button. Of course the phone turn on and freeze on the S2 logo, than went on MENU+VOL Up+power, and did a whipe and turned on the phone. This went to 4.0.2 with :
Build nr.: IML74k.XWLP7
PDA: I9100XWLP7
CSC: I9100XEULP5
kernel
3.0.15-I9100XWLP7-CL340913
[email protected] #3
Again *#06# and babam, IMEI nothing there.
So i did upgrade again to 4.1.2 I9100XWLSE_I9100OXELS6_I9100XXLS8_HOME.tar.md5 with oding on the pda tab and now shows:
Build nr.: JZ054K.I9100XWLSE
kernel
3.0.31-889555
[email protected] #3
SMP PREEMPT KST 2013.
PDA:I9100XWLSE
CSC:I9100XELS6
Baseband unknown, Imei unknown but now shows something for SN, this: SN: 00195ef068dfae.
Also found some codes *#7465625# -wich shows nothing and than when i try to enter service menu for debung and stuff also shows nothing.
So found another tutorial to add 3 files in Odin, the PDA option (that i used 2 times) and the PHONE and CSC options with 2 more files to upload. I will download, try and post back.
Thanks in advance for any1 wich reads/reply/helps or talks on this theard.:good:
p.s. I tried a soft called SRS with 3 free options to change null imei to 0004999 or something and it tells that phone is not rooted in this moment, and he might be right and here cames the qestion, while you change ROM you lose the root and su because if not, than means phone was not rooted, but hard to think at that because i could acces the /efs folder. Complete mind**** here....
edit: i did try that rom 4.1.2 with I9100XXLSJ_I9100OXXLS1_OXX with the 3 files below
pda: CODE_I9100XXLSJ
csc: CSC_HOME_OXX_I9100OXXLS1
modem: MODEM_I9100XXLS6 Still no baseband/imei and yeah for sure phone is not rooted now, should i root the phone and than .... try what? throw it on window / use it as ipod device ?
edit: found what is suppoused to be my original fimware Latest firmware from Spain / Vodafone carrier (ATL)... i will try to flash it with odin and see what happens.

You do that.
You're looking for a EFS folder back up, check out ktool to see if you can recover the IMEI.
Also call your friend and ask him how the IMEI got lost and if he backed up the EFS folder at any point.

Thanks for your answer and support.
1. This stupid problem came out of nowhere and he did not had a backup on anything.
2. Found out the device was not rooted when that happen (4 days ago) and his bigger brother tryed to use suroot and some tools like ktool or something and another useless tool, and that was the moment when he created the backups.
3. So backups were created after, phone was not rooted when it happen, no backups at all. Now i've put the 4.1.2 baseband, rooted the device, installed jeebo kernel, did try some Dalkvin wipe from cwm but still no result, when i got the phone had no serial number at all, and i don't know how i managed by swamping from rom to rom to get a SN like 00195ef068dfae, this is not the SN but make me feel better than a empty SN field.
I guess that Z3X box would do miracles, but in my city (Brasov, Romania) no1 has one at workshops, found one for about 120$ but at around 100$ i can get a MB to swamp...but still i can not afford that at the moment...
Did try Ktool/gsII_repair and efs repair (chinese verison smthing) without any result like the 3rd time but now with my own root and cwm and stuff. This is another backup made with ktool 5mins ago http://dl.xda-developers.com/attach...5454/2/1/3/5/1/7/5/EFS_Backup_with_K-tool.zip
Also managed to use EFS pro, did a backup, tried to repair baseband/format efs... nothing works
When i try now to repair emai /baseband-again, show an error about mounting /efs

Please help! IMEI gone and can't recover for some reason.

Hi
I have an S2 GT-i9100 that someone gave me after they deleted the EFS folder from without taking a backup.
None of these fixes seem to work for me. I have IMEI unknown, IMEI SV unknown, Baseband is unknown, Network is unknown and the service menu displays no options. LOL!
Where the signal bars should be is a circle with a diagonal line through it.
I have rooted it, flashed several stock firmwares with Odin with no change.
I have an EFS backup from an old S2 (same model) that was water damaged beyond repair and thrown away. Is it possible to put that IMEI on this phone? I have tried copying it and going through this process detailed here and it completes fine but doesn't make a sausage of difference, even after reboot.
Any ideas or is it shagged?
I thought if the EFS folder was deleted the IMEI reverted to the Samsung default IMEI? When I dial the #06 all it says is "IMEI" in large letters.
Oh deary deary....

A friend asked to replace the screen on his i9300 as i've done a few before,

PDA version: I9300XXUGMK6
CSC version: I9300OXAGMK6
IMEI: null
Phone S/N: Unknown
Checking Super user right... true
Reading nv data... OK
Checking magic... not found
any ideas will be appreciated.
Weird if just changing the screen corrupted the efs but irrespective how it happened you need a backup of the efs folder to restore. If you don't have a backup then service centre required.
If you have a box then read the dead boot thread in general forum, the later stages might work.

No efs back up.
what you mean by if I a Box? what box?
ive looked for the dead boot thread but cant find?
I've cp unknown now too.
Is they any links for i9300 firmware that is mg5 please? And mg2 modems please?
I really need to fix this i9300
Also if I post my efs backup from the phone can someone check it to see if it's missing any needed info?

[Q] Unknown Baseband and IMEI on G850A (AT&T)

Hi,
I got this phone from a friend and I don't know the history of it but is unable to detect any SIM card and the Baseband and IMEI appear as Unknown.
Do you have any idea on how to fix it?. Thanks in advance.
i had the same problem on 850FQ i bought few days earlier.
I digged deeper into the Issue and found out when someone wants to unlock their phone it can be done by 2 ways ONE: with an unlock code which people can buy from many online sites TWO: Using some hardware device i dont know its name. The repair guy told me sometimes a phones IMEI is also changed during the unlocking process and if the process is buggy then it may also damage IMEI AND BASEBAND.
Unknown imei/baseband can also be caused by a damaged "modem chip" or it can be caused by corrupt "EFS AND MODEM" folder while flashing custom roms. But since there is no ROOT and No firmwares available for the "A" model i guess your corrupt baseband is either due to "buggy unlocking" or it is a hardware malfunction. People who have the same problem in F or other models can try restoring factory firmwares with odin (from sammobile) but the folks with "A" Model are out of luck. i sold my phone as a demo unit cus i wasn't able to recover its baseband and imei.
Try a factory reset without simcard inserted, see if the imei comes back. if not you may sell it as a demo unit or keep the device for camera and music needs

Not registered on network

Recently I've bought a 2nd hand Samsung s3. And it has an "not registered on network" issue. I'm here in Philippines and it has a 0049 imei and 0000 sn. How can I fix it. Hepl me guys please.

And recently I've flash a Revolutionary s5 v3 rom.
And my imei is still 0049 but the serial number is changed into something. But this serial number doesn't match my serial number at the back of my phone.
I have a backup of my efs folder manually. Exactly the efs folder, I've copied it to my external sdcard.
Search and read, hundreds of identical threads.
