Rooting Xperia p without unlocking bootloader - Sony Xperia P, U, Sola, Go

Hi guys,
I am really getting frustrated due to quick battery drain and I tried all the steps. I found there are tweaks available to stop this by changing build.prop
But I have to get root permission to achieve this.
So can anyone provide me clear steps(if possible with screenshot) to root Xperia p without flash. Since I wish to use the same stock kernel. I tried with Bin4ry rooting method which doesn't work well.

oh you're running JB..my bad..from what i've read on JB threads, Bin4ry's rooter doesnt work so you'll have to flash a prerooted ftf

I had tried with his latest version which should support for jb but it got stuck at below stage.

To reduce battery drain, you can try custom kernel like sliding xp kernel and Rom like moonbreaker.
Or use the following guide to root your phone

No Free Internet after Phone Rooted
Hello Guys,
When my friend told me that I can have internet access for free (even without credit left in your phone) by rooting the device, I was curious to do so. I started searching How to Root Xperia P. I found some posts, viewed some videos from youtube and read some forums.
I tried DooMLord method, and I thought it was successful since my phone rebooted and everything went well. I found SuperSU installed in my phone. I tried to access internet (not via wifi) but to no avail. I reset factory setting but still the same.
Then i found a blog posted by Abhijit Guha and I tried it as well. It all went well but still I couldn't enjoy the free internet access they are talking about.
So what should I do now? I have xperia p, LT22i 4.1.2 android version, 6.2.A.1.100 build number. and Unlocking bootloader allowed: YES.
Please help.

Rooting lets you do a lot like modifying your system and boosting its performance. You can flash mods too. I believe that there are no free lunches in the world so I advice you to stop trying to get free internet.

Root for Linux is like administrator for window. With root access you can do whatever you like including brick your phone permanently.
Simple things you can do, like installing scripts to underclock the phone while at sleep to preserve battery, or install MODed system components , and even a MODed stock based ROM like @AndrewdXP said.
If you are going to root, be sure to read about it, have a full backup of your phone, and ready to flash stock firmware, before making any cahnges. Also you may want to be familiar with flashing stock firmware and be sure you can do it (e.g. Windows 8 may have drivers issues) BEFORE you attempt to make any modifications.
Soft bricks are common and useually easy to recover, simply by re-flashing stock firmware and restoring data, but may be time consuming.

[ROM] [4.4] [KK] [TMO] Moto X Leak (updated 11-15-2013)

Hey everyone,
I've come to break you off a piece of this KitKat bar for the T-Mobile Moto X! I did not partake in any development of this ROM, other than providing it to you all to enjoy.
Note: Be sure to have an unlocked bootloader in order to flash.
Instructions:
1. Put your phone in fastboot mode (press and hold power + volume down when phone is off)
2. Connect phone to PC
3. Extract zip on PC and run flashall.bat
The script will also update the bootloader and recovery and you may lose root if you have it.
This should have updates to Touchless Control, Active Display, Camera and has a home screen selector. It does seem to have most of the standard KitKat features, including SMS with Hangout, updated keyboard, etc.
Now supports Tap & Pay with Google Wallet!
It does not come with the Google Experience launcher with Google Now on the left side, however, but you can search for the apk. This update also brings the white icons from the Nexus 5.
This is a test build and as always, please flash with caution. Not responsible for bricked phones, etc. etc. etc.

For unlocked users to be able to flash this, we'll need the boot.img for starters. Maybe the modem too, but may not be needed to be able to boot it up for testing.
If you have root:
adb shell
Code:
su
dd if=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/boot of=/sdcard/boot.img
adb pull /sdcard/boot.img "Folder on PC where you want to put it"
(without the "")
Or copy it from the sdcard manually. Either way it just needs to be taken from the phone. Thanks for the dump, and thanks even more if you can do this for us
Here is a Fast Mirror Link to my Server with No wait and no login
I have also an extracted folder so if you want something without having to download the entire thing

Any improvements in pictures snapped with the camera? Is the purple tint still present? Any samples you could share with us?
Not totally sure this will even work, but is it possible to upload the APKs for the Camera and Gallery from 4.3 so those of us on 4.2.2 could see some benefits? Those of us who're rooted could side load them.

The camera needs tweaking at a level beyond APKs (Else third party camera apps would've fixed the quality right? ) so simply installing the gallery wouldnt work.
I installed the camera and gallery apk and it is working on the Verizon Moto X. I can definitely see a difference in low light conditions.

Downgrade Firmware to gain Root Access

It was suck when I upgrade on 14.1.B.2.257 then everything you do for Root were not work, vroot, oneclick root, etc.
I using Sony Updates software for upgrade it, previous purpose only to making backup Stock ROM, then my root access was gone.
I combine many posting to gain back root access, actually my FW was Indonesia CDA, it may be broke warranty, but I try replace 2.257 with 1.510, that still rootable, with same interface (like white theme on setting). I just wanna share what I simple done.
1. Flash your device with previous FW( Me, use Indonesia 1.510), for you please select as you wish. Download it first.

Just sucessfully rooted my ZUltra using the VRoot tool. Am running 510 fw (Indonesian C6802).
Just wanted to hare my steps:
1. Connect your phone (don't forget to enable USB Debugging)
2. Open the Vroot tool, wait until it detects the phone.
3. Click on the green button on the right bottom corner of the tool (root).
4. After sucesssfully root using the VRoot (your phone will reboot), install the SuperSU from playstore.
5. Open the SuperSU app, it will ask to update binary, click ok.
6. Then open the Vroot tool once again, click the white button (unroot) on the left of the green button, hence removing the chinese superuser app.
7. After that go to SuperSU -> Settings -> Install SuperU into /system.
8. After that reboot the phone, and the SuperSU will still be there, all apps requiring root works perfectly.
Note: if you cannot find the developer options in the settings to enable USB debugging (just like I did the first time ), go to About Phone and click on the Build Number menu 7 times. That will enable the developer mode.

Not sure why we need another guide.. Especially instruction #5 which is something you implement prior to ota updating (and not at the end of the process of flashing files). Not being mean, just thing this will add to the confusion (for those already confused).

Swap vRoot out with the Japanese rootkit. People should not use vRoot.

Finishing on point 4 was "sort of" my point (the word 'must' is detailed in point 5, and I know I'm getting picky with semantics)
Good advice my friend Xmas Darth Manhattan
Sry.. I shouldn't be so negative with fellow users offering guides.. OP
Edit: just noticed the edit of OP
