Are you sure, because the original developer section is several Custom recovery for our Ace model ported from Gio and not everything although it can be installed, but some items do not work as a USB mass storage and full wipe the problem of recovery.

For now, no new. Very busy with my first job, but working on this project.
my ext is ext3. I read that the cwm is ext4 only. IS that a problem?
I've made a cwm back of my cm9 rom using cwm 5.0.2.6: when I change my ext 3 to ext4, can i still use my cm9 backup to restore using cwm?

Almost all roms are in ext4 file system. Btw, cwm works on all roms. It is px recovery that only supports ext4 roms. You can easily restore your backup, don't worry.

Not until it has been added to the supported devices for CWM. Each device is different, different boot sectors, different partition sizes and a fair few other bits. Each one has to be supported, and as of yet, CWM does not support SGS II.
Hopefully soon it will

If you follow the instructions properly, you will not lose any apps or user data.
I'm using CM7.2 by Lovetz.
When I'm trying to make a backup of the rom via recovery
It says error while backing up /system.
Is there any other way to backup and restore my rom?

No, complete backup can be done only via CWM recovery. You can try mounting system first and then backup again. If that doesn't work then try re-flashing the rom and using stable version of CWM recovery (v4.0.0.9)
Make sure you have enough free space on your SD card. 300MB-1GB
Depends on the ROM you are using and no. of system apps and other stuff.

Use CWM recovery v4.0.0.9 or 5.0.2.6. It has worked for me.

Greetings XDA-World.
Well, Firstly, id like to mention that today is my first day as a registered member of xda. And Yeah, im just 15 so you can call me a noob or inexperienced, i dont mind.
Well Anyway, before i flashed CyanogenMod 7.2 RCO by vo-1, I took two backups of the original stock firmware, one using CWM 4.0.0.9 and the other using CWM 5.0.2.6. However, i decided to go back on stock using the backups but failed, and my Ace is stuck on bootloops. If someone could help me get these backups to work, i would be really grateful.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
[Admins im sorry ive posted in the wrong place or wrong method ot whatsoever, im a newbie]
Thanks,
UsmanJ

You cannot restore Stock ROM's backups using CWM. If your stock rom was on ext4 filesystem then it could have been possible. But, I think you made a backup of a stock ROM and not a custom ROM based on Stock ROM. Lol, a bit confusing but you cant restore that backup as far as my experience says.

Thanks brother. Yes, i could guess that because most custom rom format the system partition as ext4 because it occupies less place. Isnt it possible that we format the System partition in a way tht is supports the initial backup?
Sorry if im too newb.

Ney. Cuz the original backup was taken on a rfs filesystem. You can try one thing. Flash stock rom via odin, root your ace, install ClockWorkMod 5.0.2.6 and then try restoring that backup. Not really sure if this will help but there's no harm in trying

Hi there...
I am new with Samsung phones...came from HTC.
I rooted my SGS 3 with cf-root as discribed in another topic. No i have a CWM based recovery. Can i use clockwork mod to flash roms from sd or do i have to use Odin ?
If Odin... which files do i need to flash or is it always just one file (.tar ???).
Hope u can help...even If it is with a link to another topic

Yea you can use cwm for nearly all custom roms just read the installation instructions first
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
Isn't it the same as with the HTC... just download the rom and "instal from zip" when phone is booted in recovery mode ?

Metod is the same on all android phones with cwm.

For a good, stable and fast rom you could try this one http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1797334 and choose 2.2.0 or http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1663656. Both roms` s are good. Choose for yourself . Look in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1566for for all rom`s.
I am sorry but i do not have any experience with cwm based phones. My HTC was fully clockwork modded. But the options when booted in recovery are the same...so i asume it Works the same ??

CWM is short for 'Clockwork Mod'
So they not only look the same but (except for potential device-specific features) ARE the same =)

if you do, I think it may also wipe your sd card so you need to have the Rom on the external sd card, and have the internal one backed up on pc
Most ROM downloads in zip format should flash through cwm and most tar through Odin, however, as previously stated, read installation instructions to be sure.
You also may want to checkout the TWRP recovery, much more efficient IMO

Can I ask why you wouldn't just download a custom rom? You're making a lot of work for yourself by building on stock... CyanogenMod is stable now by the way and everything works so I don't see why you need to mod stock?
To be honest stock roms work best on this device I only have to edit and tweak a few things and add some scripts the hardest part for me will be the theme side of things and I can also port so I just want to try and make a good rom with no bugs with good performance without a rom that's already been modded
