Custom CRT Animation - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-I777

So there are a thousand threads on enabling/disabling the CRT animation on android devices. But I have yet to come across one that shows how to create your own.
Is this just impossible? Or is it somwthing done so rarely that it just hasn't been covered in a thread?
I know the basics of replacing other animations but have not been able to narrow down a search for a specific file or folder location that points to the CRT animation that I want to change.
Anyone else ever looked for it or had any success in doing so?

I've played with it before. What I've been wanting (but haven't dug around for it recently) is to find the files that control it, what kind of images, xml, smali, whatever may be used, and make my own to replace the standard ones.
I don't think a whole lot of people really theme that kind of thing, bit it would be cool to try.

gingerbread crt screen off animation on ANY build

theres people asking for this....and i don't think people should flash a non stable rom just for this animation....so here:
screen off and lock
doesn't use lock button, but you can remap long press of search button (i don't use google voice actions that much) to lock the screen with an animation.
hope this helps some people
oh....and if you're rooted (which most people on here are) you can pull the xml animation file and rename it lock_screen_enter.xml or lock_screen_behind_enter.xml, then push it to your frameworkres.apk/anim, it will be your animation for unlocking your phone. it's ultra fast and fits perfectly with the unlock sounds.
i'd include a video, but i dont have a digital camera....
Hmm, Im going to wait to see if someone tries this. Could be pretty epic.
Hmm I was under the impression that the frameworks prior to ginger bread had no support for that kind of animation.
Might when I get home, I really do like the tv animation
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA Premium App
I guess pre-gingerbread, the sdk doesn't call for an xml when hitting the power/lock button. So that's why I use the feature to remap long pressing the search button.

alright, sorry , it sounded like ya think i'm a moron. I tried 2 times, reinstalled, restarted, and still no Gingerbread style tv off animation. There seems to be a slightly different animation when putting phone to sleep when I set it to "old style TV", but def not gingerbread , not even close.
So I guess I'm must be doing something VERY wrong with the simple instructions and setttings... IDK man. Not sure what to say,
Thanks for the app, unfortunately tho it does not give that GB style tv off animation
EDIT: yes I have all animations turned on, always do
I figure it's close enough for those who really wanted the animation like me. And it works in landscape. So that's a plus to me.
I just wasn't down to install an unstable gb build for this animation.

I'm not bashing at all. Just reporting back from my use of the app. NONE of the animations I select work , so maybe it is the ROM I'm using. IDK.

Working very well, thanks man! Are there any ways to speed/slow down the animation?
EDIT: Can you also elaborate on unlock animation? Does this mean when we hit the power button the screen will turn on that way in reverse? I'd like to get that going, but would I have to know how to edit and recompile an apk? I've never really messed with xml files.

I've done it. It works pretty well but we don't have as much real estate as a tablet so I only had five screens. I have a modified version of hubs I'm using now. It takes a little while to set up but its worth it. Check the screenshot section, I have my hubs and new modified hubs posted there.

I usually keep my DX2 pretty much the same all the time. Its pretty simple. But I was thinking of doing this to my TouchPad. As of right now I only have one homescreen on my TouchPad because I cant really think of anything else to put on there that wont already fit on the one screen. lol. This would be cool.

Usually hubs includes tabs or text for all homescreens in order to jump directly to that homescreen. I just decided not to do that, to me it looks cleaner and less cluttered on a phone.

How to show a line beneath bad spelled words like in iOS

Since I have my SGS3 a few weeks ago there's something missing and I don't know why. I'm talking about the in line spell checking.
In ICS when you misspell a word a red dotted line appears underneath that word, so you can easily see the mistake and fix it. This is also present in iOS.
Why don't we have that on our SGS3? I really need it to easily check for any mistakes when writing emails and other stuff.
Right now there is no way to see when a word is incorrectly written. I have to re-read all my text again to see if it's correct and it takes to long compared to just looking for the red dots.
It's it just me or is there a way of enabling this feature? I downloaded the ICS keyboard from the market and it doesn't have this much needed feature.
I don't understand why no one seems to find this to be a problem.

samsung keyboard, settng, predictive text, spell correction
Thanks but that's not what I mean. I still don't get any visible sign on a misspelled word. I'm not talking about spell checker.
What I want is something like iOS when you misspell a word and a red dotted line appears beneath the word. That way it's very easy to check for misspelled word on very long notes.
I think I saw this same feature on the ICS keynote. A line appears beneath the mistakes word and it gives you a list of optional words to change to.
This does not appear on my SGS3. Maybe it's because it's not stock Android. How can I get this?
Thanks.

No, no, no. It doesn't need to work like iOS. I'm saying that stock Android has this feature but I don't see it on the SGS3 and that is weird. Stock Android shows you a line beneath any word misspelled. Why not the SGS3?
There has to be a way to show it.

I've already downloaded the ICS and JB keyboards and still that feature is not present. It's not present strangely on any keyboard: Swype, swiftkey, go keyboard, etc. It's actually really weird. It's an essential feature and it comes with stock Android. I don't know if this problem is only with Samsung or if HTC has it too.
Will moving the keyboard file to system really work? I will try it.
My last resort would be to use CM10 I guess.

Who has changed their DPI?

One of the first things I thought of when I got my phone was "wow, EVERYTHING is way too big". I tried shrinking icons and text, but still want happy with things like the system ui.
Once I had my phone rooted I dove into the build.prop file and changed from 480 to 320, and couldn't be happier! Naturally the launcher was jacked up, but Nova launcher fixed that. The only remaining annoyances are a few Samsung apps that don't scale properly, the phone, camera, calculator and I'm sure a few more I haven't noticed. I know there are multi-DPI apps available for the unlocked S4, but I didn't want to be the first to test them on Verizon.
If you've changed your DPI, what did you go with? Any problems? Have you tried the multi-DPI Samsung apps?

Use the xposed mod, should work just fine as it isn't phone dependent.
Just did this, amazing. My first thought too, this phone is for visually impaired! What are some other good values, if any, between 320 & 480?
I've tried exposed in the past on my GN (Toro) running AOKP and came away mostly disappointed. Fact is, I want EVERYTHING to be smaller, not just select apps. I really don't get Google's insistence on making the GUI elements so big, it's not like we're dealing with resistive screens any more. I wish they would just take advantage of the fact that android scales so well and allow anyone to change their DPI either device wide or per app, then they could make everything default to smaller with big only for old and/or blind people.

I have changed mine to 420 but i cant decide if i like it or not. Sometimes its cool making everything smaller and using that screen space but other times I am missing seeing larger icons and text, showing off that resolution in the more visible graphics. Hmmm... I also tried 320 before that and everything was very very small lol.
Plus I can't use the Xposed app to fix the now cut off Gallery/Phone app because I use 3Minit Framework and app instead..

Is there a way to make a widget persistent?

Is there any way to make a selective widget, like the DuckDuckGo widget, persistent in the place of the Google search widget? I ask this because the Google search widget that is persistent doesn't take up a complete grid like it would if I was to add the DuckDuckGo widget to every page at the top.
Adding the DuckDuckGo widget drops everything down much further, even with another grid space added on Nova, than just having the persistent widget does.
I saw with Lightning Laughed you could "pin" a widget in place and it is almost like using a persistent widget, in that it stays in the same place as you scroll through homescreens, but its still very very different. I have also seen Overlays but that is completely different as well.
So is there any way to modify Nova, and of the other launchers, or a ROM to use the DuckDuckGo widget as persistent instead of the Google search bar?

Not at all, the ssLauncher Dev has no idea what I a, talking about, he doesn't speak English as his first language so its extremely hard for me to explain things to him. I eventually gave up.
I've heard that the Dev responsible for Action Launcher adds just about anything his users ask for so I am going to email him later today and see if he can and would add that. Ive been trying to figure this out for quite a while and no one knows anything about it and the few that do, I've found 2 people who supposedly know, don't want to explain what edits need to be made.
