Hello all!
I want to re-install my stock firmware without wiping user data (specially Google account log-in data). Are there any way to do it?
I search how to make a flashable zip file from the .tar.md5. But there's no SGS3 tutorial (found only Epic 4G Touch tutorial).
Thanks!
Data isn't wiped if you flash official firmware so any of our guides here work

I had installed the old version of ClockworkMod Touch. Now, I'm trying to update by Odin and is not working. This has happened with some of you? Thanks!
Hi
Try this, even I managed it and I'm a noob to flashing and rooting.....

Hope it helps
I already tried that. But ClockworkMod continues in the old version. Although saying that Odin was successfully completed, the ClockworkMod not change.
Flash the firmware after reading the instructions.

my phone is currently rooted, i meant should i unroot before flashing?
whenever I flash a stock firmware via odin my phone gets unrooted automaticaly
I had the same question but after searching a bit, I was informed I could just flash using Odin. Most likely lose root but can be rerooted afterwards, at least that's what I was told.

Yup, just flash with Odin then flash cf root again afterwards

Hello guys ,
i have got a question. If I install CWM and CyanogenMod, can I reflash StockROM without any problems (with Stock Recovery and original kernel, baseband and csc)?
Can I use a one-piece flashfile for that or I have to use a three-part flashfile?
If I have to use a three-part flashfile, where can I get it? On samfirmware.com are only one-piece firmwarefiles...
Greetings...
Shouldn't be any problems, back up sd card in case you need to factory reset to get it to boot

And if I flash CyanogenMod, how can I reflash the StockROM with all original things, like CSC, Baseband etc?

I'll use pre-rooted stock rom from here . All things you've asked are included in package. If you use TA and do Factory Reset your phone will be rooted and Official/Normal at the same time

CSC is Samsung feature, not included in cm/aosp, modem....just make a note of you baseband, and if the Rom flash changes it just re-flash modem

Download the stock rom of your choice from SamFirmware, then flash with odin. Then boot into the phone's recovery and factory reset then reboot and voila.

So you say that in a 1 part firmware are the same files as in the three-part firmware? That's nice! ^^

Before I got my SIII, I used a Galaxy Fit and there I needed all files to flash my Firmware...
That's very nice to hear. Then are the other fields for files only for that if I especially want one of these files and not for flashing a new ROM?
Yes, it's optional. If you want to use for example a Rescue Firmware you'll need much more files and then more options must be ticked

Thanks, and this Rescue ROM is for making a factory condition?
Yes and No. I've just used it as Example to explain why there's more options in Odin. Rescue ROM is for bricked phones, if you flash accidentally with wrong ROM it can bring your phone back to life

Yes, but do not use unless you have too, it contains a .pit file which is the partition layout, .....not to be messed with unless absolutely necessary
Hello everyone,
I got my new S3 and would like to root it. I am looking for the easiest way to do so. Currently I would like to stay on stock firmware, but only rooted. There seems to be so many ways to root the I9300, so I am looking for suggestions from user who have rooted already.
My S3 info:
Model number: GT-I9300
Android version: 4.1.2
Baseband version:I9300XXELLA
Build number: JZO54K.I9300XXEMA2
This method seems the easiest: [GT-I930x/T/N][SHV-E210*][SHW-M440S] CF-Auto-Root
Thank you,
CF-Autoroot or CF-Root 6.5 depending if you want to have a custom recovery or not. Follow the guides and make sure to flash the correct file for your device!
PhilZ Or TWRP .

Although I would recommend changing the recovery that comes with the latter anyway as we can't guarantee it's SDS safe, which means may as well do CF_Autoroot.
Then as JJE says, flash Philz or TWRP
I used cf auto root then put cwm recovery on. XXEMC2 also have stock rom at the min

Great. Just need to change recovery to TWRP or Philz then you're done.

Philz is like CWM but with way more features.
TWRP is a completely different experience but equally as good. Both of these are safe from SDS (See sticky in general for Sudden Death)
CWM is nto SDS safe
Just read thay thread..and I do suffer feom random bouts of the phone restarting itself.but this is an issue I had on stock rom before root
Have noticed since root my clock widget forgets to update so I have to delete it and replace again on hoke screen
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
We're talking about recovery now not rom. If you stick with cwm, when you flash a rom - we cannot tell you you're safe from brick due to sds. Only twrp or philz we can say you're safe. We've advised you. Follow or ignore our advice, its your call but you have been warned.

When you say "with", you don't mean you will try to root with Mobile Odin do you? Mobile Odin only works after root. You will need Desktop Odin to flash CF_AutoRoot
