use dfs cdma tool
I don't know man.
How safe is it using that tool?
And which one do I need to download?
I don't see our device listed as a supported device.

That's not aprl issue. It's typically a sim card issue.

By doing that you very likely fried your sim. You should not be dialing *22899 from a lte phone.

I'm coming from the Motorola side of things and I do not know which files are the radio files. I'm in need of doing some modifications to try and get the Radio to get Verizon towers. I only have a month or so then I switch to T-mobile but would like to get the LGOG working on Verizon's network. I know the chip is capable of those frequencies just need to modify the Radio files.
I know the Motorola Droids call them .ril not sure for LG.

Verizion is cdma, you aren't going to be able to activate it on their network because the esn/imei isn't in their system. They like sprint will only activate a phone that is for their network.
This is so far from the right section, even moto forums aren't that backwards...

Yeah, I've tried to no avail. I did get the mbn files to try and get the radio up on Verizon but no luck thus far. So I will be passing this up for now but will continue to tinker.

Will verizon s4 work on at&t. Will i be able to get 4g? Thanks
4G as in H+? Then yes.
No, they have different radios. GSM (AT&T) vs CDMA (Verizon)
JaeKay, the Verizon S4 had both radios. I have personally used an AT&T SIM and made calls and gotten H+. So to the OP, YES YOU CAN. You just need to add the APN info after you put in the new SIM card.

Need to root for APN change/add ? or possible to add new APN without rooting?
I was rooted but it should not be a requirement. Just need a non Verizon SIM in the phone.

A co worker of mine pulled a new S4 out of box and put in his at&t SIM sure enough it worked. so non rooted works too.

I have both a TMO sim and and ATT sim, and I got EDGE with TMO. No H/H+ right now on TMO because very few areas are on 1900. Our version of the S4 does not have the ability to use H/H+ on the AWS frequencies, just LTE.

I would hardly core that as an source. Additionally, it directly contradicts your earlier assertion.
Check the actual model numbers that Samsung has put forth... there is no such animal as the SGH-I545.

Hey guys...
So, the Verizon S4 is the model named SCH-I545 and it comes with a sim slot, right? Besides, it comes Internationally Unlocked, so it can be used on GSM networks around the world, correct?
Just one more question, does it work on the 850MHz Band for 3G?
I'm thinking on buying one also! Thanks!
I brought the vzw s4 back to india.. but its not working with either vodafone or airtel GSM.
After rooting and installing apn manager and titanium pro I was able to get the data working but that too only 3g.
But the voice n sms is still not working.
I too am lookiblng for a solution but didnt find any, inspite of this being a world phone.

Same issue in India
I am having the same issue. The phone picks up only data signal and not voice or SMS. I have a Note2 purchased from Verizon and it works perfect. I have rooted and was able to install an I9505 ROM Wamma Lite. It picked up the gsm signal for a moment and same issue occured. Can aI9505 modem be iinstalled using Odin which will make the gsm modem primary and CDMA secondary and allow gsm use for voice and SMS. Please help.

Yes, it will work on 850
Straight from Sammy.
"Frequencies and Data Type:
LTE: Bands 4/13
CDMA 1x/EVDO Rev.A: 800/1900MHz
HSPA+/UMTS: 850/900/1900/2100MHz
GSM: 850/900/1800/1900MHz"
I am using my i545 in both CDMA and GSM networks. Didn't try HDSPA, but EVDO Rev.A and even Rev.B, and GSM with EDGE - working properly without problems. Switching between networks - is in the Settings. My phone is connected to two different operators at the same time - to CDMA and GSM.

Are you using CDMA injected? I am using i-545 in Indonesia with local operator CDMA RUIM not successful, will try with CDMA injected.
So I installed the Google Edition rom on my GS4, and everything worked fine. Then I had the brilliant idea to call *228 to reprogram my towers, and I lost all 4g connection.
I restored back to my stock rooted rom, and used Phone Info to see if I can get 4g back. When I made Phone Info do LTE only, I got 4g LTE connection, and it passed the ping test, but I switched back to LTE/CDMA auto (PRL) and it goes back to only 3g connection.
Is there anyway to fix this?
Dialing *228 doesnt do anything for 4G. The cell towers are automatically updated via your sim card.

You nuked your sim. Get a new one and don't dial *228.

Alright, thanks for the info
I helped someone out who couldn't get data after all the troubleshooting we did. I told him to go to the Verizon store and get a new sim. He did and now he gets full data.
I have never seen this discussed before but I am in the market for a replacement S4 since my got dropped in water.
I found a S4 that was originally Verizon flashed to Cricket.
Is it possible to flash back to Verizon?
Any insight would be appreciated.
Thank you!!
It was probably flashed to Cricket because the ESN was bad on Verizon. I would run an esn check first or ask the seller for it.

Not addressing the my original inquiry. ESN is already checked and clean.
Currently working through this post but looks like I soft bricked it while trying to flash the stock kernel:
droidforums.net/forum/samsung-galaxy-s4-development/243165-how-root-your-verizon-galaxy-s4.html
Now using Software Repair Assistant to get me back to square one. Rooting it is not difficult but I am uncertain what I need to confirm to make sure it is "flashed" to Verizon, not Cricket. I attempted to switch devices on verizon website earlier and it had no problem with the ESN but I could not get the phone connected to the Verizon network to accept a call so I switched back to my old backup device again.
Am I going at it the right way?
You never said you already checked the ESN. If you updated to the latest firmware, you're SOL.

UDPATE AND NEXT QUESTION:
I am rooted but the S4 does not appear to have the current Verizon radios flashed (it is not connecting to the verizon network).
Does anyone have the latest .zip or .tar file that will flash the radios to a Galaxy S4??
I am comfortable with either format and using ClockWorldMod or Odin to get the job done.
Or am I still SOL??
Thanks!!
verizon..cricket.......
About the return to VZW? 100% sure if you look in the "Development" section for an answer you'll find it along with all of the tools you need. Do you have an active 4G VZW sim, google can help also, Hope this helps.
