One of my relatives been haviog problems with the phone charging, if i slightly move the cable i can see the charging icon blinking andit feels kind of loose, it is not a problem with the charger because it does exactly the same with another USB data cable.
Does anyone knows where can i buy a new charging port AND the flex ribbon? did a Google search but only found the actual microusb port but not the flex cable that connects to the motherboard, any help appreciated.
I don't think it's a flex cable. I think the amaze port is a part of the mother board.

Hello
I have a big problem with my Razr, my usb connector of my razr is broken.
I can not charge it anymore, it is not caused by usb cable because I tried with differents.
Someone know if we can buy new usb connector and replace it ?

Is the connector on the phone "physically" broken, or does it just not charge?
It just doesn't charge.
But the connector is damaged for sure.
Just as a temp solution you Cern use battery charges (connecting their probes directly to the bat. + -)

I tried to do that yesterday but it didnt work.
I cut an usb cable and I put the red and black wires only on screw (
I did not have a screwdriver )

I have bought a HTC ONE S, if someone want to buy my razr in low price...
I recently bought a s3 to repair and resell.
The phone has 2issues
Broken digitizer
The usb port doesn't charge or is recognized by the pc.
Does anyone know how i replace the micro usb port?
What i know:
it's not connected via flex cable, is soldered to the board. so will need soldering
To replace i need a hot air blower, my soldering gun has that function.
Please tell me more

that's pretty much it. desolder the old one, solder a new one on there.
Does anyone have good resolution pictures of the usb port on the motherboard, so i could know what im getting myself into.

Dear Glebun and other users,
I'm thinking of replacing the Micro USB port on my black GT-i9300. I've had charging issues some time now. First I had to some ' tricks' examples: Turning off, getting it to charge then turn on. Repeatedly jack the cable in and out. Rebooting and what not.
However now it wont charge at all. When plugged in to the wall socket it just stays at the level it is (when not using and screen off) when plugged in and using it the battery drains. Also my laptop won't reconize the device. (also won't charge when pluggen in the laptop).
I got this phone from my brother who has installed Cyanogenmod on it.
Now what kind of equipement do I need exactly? And do I need to work with some anti-static armband?
I am more interested in how you plan to fix the digitizer and make money on it?
like topic says, my usb port is super lose, any movement to the phone will make the cable jiggle out. I have some jeweler screwdrivers, but does anyone know of guides to help me with this problem? thanks everyone.

Here's a good teardown

It seems to be soldered on to the motherboard...
You'll want a T5 screwdriver as well.

Have you tried a different cable? I've had several cables where the little catches on the one side of the adapter have worn out and the cable then will slide right out or not make a good connection. Replacing the cable solved it every time.
looking at it visually, it seems to me that the brackets actually holding the port together are misaligned, so the cable cant fit flush in it :\. Tried to push it back in by myself with a flatedge, no avail.
Thanks for all the suggestions guys, I think I can live with it.
Ok, im trying to figure out why this phone wont charge or connect to pc via usb. I have done testing on the port, and it appears the port is good. and it seems to be making good contact with the board. I have posted pics of the port and the area that connects to the board. I have checked the continuity from a cut usb cable i have, plugged it in port and have good continuity across all the pins of the port. My question is, are the pads on the other side of the pcb points for the usb port? becuase i have no continuity on any of the points with any pin in the cable. the phone turns on, i bought a brand new battery and screen for the phone, i got it for free from someone and it was completely shattered. I have about 75 dollars invested in it. It works perfectly, completely virgin no root or unlocked bootloader. Running the latest update.
I also posted a pic of the jtag pads, there is no continuity on any of those either to the USB. Nor any other pad on the board anywhere. And i think thats odd, there should be one somewhere.
Sorry if i posted this in the wrong area, mods can move it if they need to.

Oh yea, ive done all the obvious things to try and figure it out. When i got it, they said it just quit charging, so i figured it was the battery, so i bought a brand new battery, which came charged, and a new screen, since it was shattered. It turns on, works perfectly, but it will no charge or connect to pc. ive tried 4 or 5 different cables, and ive wiggled and bent and pushed and pulled and everything else on them to try and get a sign of connectivity. So far ive come up with nothing.. This appears to be a common problem with this model, i guess i should have researched it more before i spent so much on parts for it.
Maybe the circuit board is fried.

Theres no visible damage to the board, no water damage, nothing is broken, im having a hard time diagnosing it

As in the port lost connection to the board/broke? or this same situation, where it just quit working for no reason? The port is working as it should, and making good connection with the board. I'm stumped. If the port was broken, i could replace the port, no problem, but im 100% positive the port is not the issue here.

I didn't get into it as deep as you, but my phone would charge yet would not work over data (connected to pc). Repair store was stumped too.

Did you figure out what happened to it? Mine suddenly developed a problem last week and would appear to be charging (charging light on) but it does not really charge. The port looks ok.
Hi there,
I am looking for a way to charge my i9100 without using the usb port, as it is broken. I do know some phones have external charging pins hidden under the battery cover - my wife's Nexus S has those. Nonetheless I couldn't find them on my Galaxy S II. Anyone had some experience with this? I do know one can buy and replace the usb port together with the whole bottom circuit board, which would probably fix my problem. But I got the phone for free to use before buying a new one and I did not want to put any money into it

Hi namarath,
I have the same problem. The usb flex cable I bought to exchange the broken one was broken itself, which is common. As a solution I bought an external battery charger for just 5 Euro on Aliexpress. Works fine since I have two batteries. The indicator light switches from pink to blue when charged. Be warned that this light is bright like disco lights
Cheers

Buying a broken replacement USB port/board assembly is NOT common......buying the WRONG version of the board IS common....There are 4 different non interchangeable versions.
See this guide that I wrote for explanations.....
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2335961
But yes, I agree, an external charger and spare battery is a good option....I have done this for both my S2 and S5......

Hi keithross39,
Well, unfortunately in my case everything but loading the battery did work with the new flex cable which indeed had the same version number. So I was one of the few to pick a broken one But thanks for your work in that area!
Cheers
