[Q] How quickly Galaxy S2 screen shows burn in - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello everyone. If its posted in wrong category then please Move it.
I'm interested in buying Galaxy S2 (used one) for playing. I want to know that how many people reported burn in issues with their S2 ?
Is its common in S2 or very rare ? I found a S2 without any burn-in issues. so how many chances are there that it will show burn-in ?

Nor did I...can you explain us Panjgoori, what do you mean by burn in?

If you display bright static images on the screen for long enough/often enough, you will get burn in to one degree or another. I don't think you'd find a phone on the market today where this isn't the case.
As to how noticeable the burn in is, that's another thing entirely. Many of the cases I've seen on here you'd have to turn the brightness right up & have a completely blank screen/the right background to notice it I.E you probably wouldn't notice it using the phone day to day.
Don't let this kind of thing stop you buying any phone, chances are you won't even notice it if it does happen.

I'm having that problem. I've bought the GALAXY S2 GT-I9100 3 days ago by Amazon.com. A family member brought me the phone to Argentina, and just now, after 24 hours of that I give in my hands, I discovered this problem. The truth is that I'm super disappointed with Samsung and bought by Amazon.com thinking it would be all 100% OK, but apparently not. The problem is that in Argentina this Cellphone is discontinued and costs the twice that this costs...

Seba, show us a pic.
You can still buy it in mercadolibre, it's kinda cheap right now.

I couldn't take a picture yet.
PD: No se que decis de mercadolibre, ¿donde lo ves barato? 4 lucas te parece barato? yo lo pague menos de $2000 por amazon.

I saw it around 1900 - 2300 pesos in mercadolibre.
Why can't you take a pic? Don't you already have the device?
Sent from...this is not even my S2

I have this 'problem'. The old Whatsapp lay-out+contact name/photo is burned into my screen. However, I only see it when my screen is almost white.

I'm not sure you are referring to the issue that made the screen gradually faded to a lighter color on one side, that was a software issue fixed on recent ROM releases.
99% have that tint? Ive never seen it in real life... Mine is normal, no yellow/blue tint, I got it at release day.

And you've seen 5,999,999 phones to be able to draw this conclusion? Some people have problems and in certain regions exchanges seem to be coming from the same batches so I can see why it may seem widespread. It's not or more people on the forum would be *****ing.

I don't think I am that blind compared my screen to a new sg2 I don't see the yellow or blue ting I purchased mine Aug 3rd. Is anyone who purchased their SGII in North America having this issue or is it just the first release batch outside of North America that is having this problem? Some on asked for a screen shot so we can all see what your looking at how about it.

you know what they say thou beauty is in the eye of the beholder , so im guessing most people either a don’t notice it , or b simply live with it.
I showed my first phone which was quite bad to numerous people some people spotted it straight away and was shocked like me, others didn’t but did notice it when pointed out, but said they could live with it on another note they all noticed the pink spot instantly anyhow .....
I’ve had 2 now both from different batches and awaiting third tomorrow ive checked the device out in numerous shops and they all had it to various degrees along with smear / ghosting text (which not many people seem to complain about). Reminds me of when Sony released there flagship tv the x3500 followed by the led version the x4500 both of these flagship tvs had smear / ghosting. This was acknowledged as a draw back of that technology as the panel needed to warm up.
However Samsung haven’t said anything in relation to this i.e. if its a fault or a drawback with the technology which leaves most people who are unhappy with there device swapping it endlessly looking for a perfect / working model free from yellow tint or pink spot when in reality there is no such device.
thanks bcoz of ur replays.
but today i c one of my friends that have sgs2 and they sgs2 have not this issue )
i root and install cm7,criscelo,Villain,litening but i never c yellow issue in left side
NOW I AM LOOKING FOR A NEW SGS2 WITH OK LED :d

You can replace the screen a million times, the software is the culprit... the issue has been fixed by Samsung. They adjusted the screen sensors to distribute evenly the light intensity.
Fun test for yawl... If you find the "tint" noticeable... Go to display settings, turn OFF the option that says "Auto adjust screen power"
viola.
No more tint.
however, only a true black pixel is "off" now, and battery might suffer, I haven't played too much with it, but I noticed it.
It is a software issue, but the reason some people see it more often than others, is simply the color of the images and text that they display on their screen more often. OLED will always have "warmer" tones than a standard LCD, you can tweak the software to cool them, but they are noted for VIVID color, not accurate color

[Q] Does anybody knows a good service to replace the screen in UK?

I just got the phone this morning and I had it in my pocket, I have touched the wall by mistake and I heard a "crack" sound... yes, it was the screen of my brand new phone. The Galaxy S3 is very fragile, I still have my (1 year old) Galaxy S2 and that one survived to many accidents. This one I would not recommend... the screen is too fragile... now back to the subject, does anyone know any good service near London or a site were I can buy a new screen?
Thank you!
Can't answer your question about service but I know what you mean about the S2 screen. Months ago I jumped on my S2's screen three times in a row really hard because I was peed of with it and it never cracked. Wish they stayed with the original glass on S3 as S2.
its the size of the screen that makes it weaker... all the big screen phones are much easier to break.. the s2 was a strong phone but stretching to the 4.8 screen on the s3 has made it weaker

I managed to sell it like that and buy a fresh one with a good case on it, I hope it will last longer!
Thank you!

Just got my S3 and i need help! ALREADY! :(

i just got my S3 and i m so worried and so sad people!
i got the pebble blue s3. i have issues with my screen. i ran the screen test and found the same dark spots on my screen when screen is black. there are lots of them. i dont have nice camera to take pic of those dots. they are really annoying because i surf the internet a lot and these dots are very visible specially in the dark!
the other issue is something with the viewing angle. when i hold the device right next to my eyes (as we all do most of the times) the screen seems to be more yellowish and the colors seem to be alot washed away! but when i change the viewing angle like just a little, i mean when i tilt the device just a little the colors get normal the way they should be!
the next thing is the pink tint. in the browser the white pages are EXTREMELY PINK! yes EXTREMELY PINK! that happens at the automatic brightness!
when viewing the black color on the sceen, when the capacitive touch buttons are on the light of the menu button seems to leave its light on the screen. and the blacks are NOT AT ALL BLACK!!!
people i am so tensed and worried! can someone help me out of these problems? i have read that the white S3 does not have any of this problem is it true? i have also read that the dark spots are because of the glu used and those would go away with time, but i dont believe in that! should i send the device to claim warranty and get it repaired? pls pls pls some one help me! i have spent all my money i had saved for the past 4 months for this set and i even sold my Galaxy Note for this! i am so much tensed! pls help me guys!

You got a defective unit it happens. So send it back or get it repaired / exchanged. You spent a lot of money you should get a product that works as intended without defects. The sooner the better you'll be much happier. Best advice I can give you. All without the need to jumping off a bridge or if you do hope that you that you land on kyan to break your fall.

The block splotches are absolutely not indicative of a bad display.
They are present on virtually every OLED screen, ranging from the Nexus One's, to the PlayStation Vita's, to the Samsung Galaxy S3's.
I can't speak for your other issues, but people need to understand the splotches are common on pretty much any OLED. Some can see them easily, some seem to be unable to, but it does not mean the panel is defective.
Why are you on here? I see you just joined the site recently. How about you learn to be polite and if you can't, then leave.

yeah u r right. i guess my set is faulty. but i thought this might be something that would get ok with time. but that does does not make any sense. if those dots were something related to the glue, those should have been vanished by now as the set is old now. i mean it should have been produced at least like 1 or 2 months ago.

You have to admit though that it was funny
I use an app called dead pixel test, and it allows you to cycle through several different solid coloured screns, like all white, all black, red blue etc. No probelms with my screen, but I have a screen protector on it now.
Does yours have a screen protector that could be affecting it? Otherwise just return it as faulty.
I also have the pebble blue and screen is amazing. No issues here. Did notice the marks on a completely black screen in a dark room once but it hasn't showed since. Didn't really bother me.

Just tested my phone for the dark patches and the screen is full of them. So far it hasn't ruined my life. Or indeed a millisecond of my life.

Get over it and get it exchanged if your not happy, but seriously whining like the above makes you look very silly as your acting like an 8 year old with a tantrum.
My s3 has faults too, like the front facing speaker isnt flat and sits at an angle... but you dont hear me whining....
These are a mass produced product and there will always be faulty units... so dont fret and go and get another one

[Q] Is The Galaxy SIII still worth buying?

I'm looking into buying a new phone, and one I'm looking at is the SIII. What is currently putting me off is this sudden death syndrome.
So my question is, would anyone here still recommend buying the SIII despite the sudden death syndrome problem that at least some are having?
I'll mention other phone if asked, but I'm trying to avoid the recommend the best phone type topic, least here in the SIII forums, I may ask that question elsewhere.
SDS affects incredibly small amount of phones, and Samsung repairs it for free. SGS3 definitely still costs its money, it's a great phone

No BS, I was one of the unlucky bastards that saw his SIII die of unnatural causes. SDS struck during the night. Last time I picked up my phone was at around 4 in the AM, it was fully charged and I was heading for bed. At 7:15 I awoke to the sound of my second alarm clock (yes, I am one of those guys that really needs a backup alarm clock). I hadn't heard my beloved SIII go off at 7. The green "charged" led was on. But the phone wouldn't switch the screen on no matter what button I pressed. So I unplugged it. The led immediately went off and that was the last time that particular SIII ever did anything again. From that point on it was totally dead. Nothing. Abso-freakin'-lutly nothing. Sent it in for repairs although it had a custom ROM (aka warranty probably void). Nevertheless, they sent me a new replacement unit. First 5 minutes inside my house, was rooted again and on it's way to OMEGA ROM bliss.
I am happy with the phone. Sure by now there are better devices. Sure you can get something that does more. But to me, this phone is still fantastic and I love it to bits. Would really still consider it. If I were rich, maybe I'd splurge on something else. But if money matters and I had to make a sensible choice, sure, I'd still consider the SIII a top contender.
I recently buyed a second Galaxy S III for my girlfriend to make it easier to help her with technical support. What i can recomment if you buy it is to buy a Tempered Glass Screen Protector. Mine Galaxy S III has already has a crack in the screen.

I would get that one but I'm outside the US, and rather buy from the UK as that's where I live.
Edit: Had a bit of a look into I9305, and whilst it's available, it's at least £50 more for one, and no real well known that many sellers in the UK for an unlocked one. So less it becomes more widely available and at the same/similar price as a regular one, it's not an option. Anyway thanks for the information.

Thanks for clearing that up. Now I feel bad that I only have 1GB ram and 3g
But the 9305 hardly has any development
Mostly yes!
1. The latest XELLA kernel fixes a major cause for Sudden Death Syndrome.
2. i9300 is still seeing the largest amount of development.
3. The only somehow similar alternatives IMHO are i9305 (but not so much development goes there) or Note2 (if the size is OK for you).

I did think about the Note 2, size wise probably not a problem, but it costs a bit more than I'm willing to pay, the SIII is at the top end, also the note 2 is a bit more of a tablet, and I've already have the note 10.1, and I'm looking for something a little more phone sized, and SIII looks to me the closest one to what I want for the price I'm willing to pay.

A friend of mine had an similar problem with his SII.
a pink field began to grow in a corner of the screen and it went bigger and bigger until the whole Screen had very strange colors. He was very lucky because Samsung changed his display for free because of warranty.

Hm wierd because the display should new.
But sadly i dont have the reciept for the phone. Maybe i can just talk to samsung directly, and ask if its still supported by the warranty.
But thank you very much for your input!
i would still like to here if there is a quick fix or anything.
