Hello everyone,
I'm encountering problems with my S3. I have aokp_i9300_nightly_2013-06-15 rom installed.
When i connect my phone to my laptop using the factory usb cable, it only charges the device.
I tried removing kies and all drivers from my computer but it didnt help.
Also i dont see any options in my notifications area when i connect it. When i go to usb connection modes (MTP, PTP) i check/tick MTP but when i go back and go to the connection modes again, it is unchecked.
I have usbdebug enabled.
Any help is greatly appreciated!!

Samsung SIII tethering to Windows 8.
I have a similar problem tethering to a new Windows 8 laptop. Will the above suggestion apply?
I have recently purchased a Windows 8 laptop and I am having issues tethering my Samsung Galaxy S3 for an internet connection. When I try to tether via Wi-Fi the laptop shows 5 bars of connection strength, however, my laptop also advises me it is a limited connection and I am unable to access the internet.
I spoke to Samsung and they suggested downloading KIES, which I did. This did not change the situation as far as tethering via Wi-Fi, however, after carrying out a USB cable troubleshooting on the KIES program I did manage to get a connection via USB, but it is short lived and disconnects.
Tethering via Bluetooth is not successful at all.
Has anyone else experienced the same problem and is there an easy fix.
I am in a remote area which has good Telstra 3G coverage and rely on my mobile as an internet connection.
Any assistance would be welcomed.

I've been using the latest release of Tesla Coil, which really is a great ROM and I have had no problems up until now.
I have been tethering just fine via USB, using HTC's Internet Connection Mode whilst we change ISPs, but for some reason this morning it refuses to work.
I plug in the USB cable, I get the prompt on the phone and select ICM and then... nothing! The device isn't detected by Windows 7 (it had been coming up as HTC Ethernet Adapter 9k, or something similar.)
I tried enabling it by going into Settings -> Wireless & Networks - Internet Connection Mode, I check the box, get the little Mobile Hotspot prompt and then ICM becomes unchecked again.
I'm pretty new to Android and really, I solved my problem by using Barnacle Wifi Tether, but I really want to learn why this has happened and how to fix it

Go to settings -> Wireless and network -> Tethering and portable hotspot -> Then select "Portable Wi-Fi hotspot settings" - From this you can set up a Wi-Fi network that uses your mobile internet.
Once you've set this up connect to the wireless network via your laptop and launch the app called "Kies air". From there you can transfer files without the need of the usb connector...
To use DLNA you need a wireless network, i wouldn't recommend using the portable Wi-Fi hotspot for it.
Thank you very much Stylee32 this helps
hope i will get my WiFi router soon
Edit: I tried this solution. Got my PC connected to Mobile. But the url which Kies Air gave didnt work
Edit 2: Finally it worked. Thank you so much
No problem at all, glad i could help
Hello Everybody
I have this strange Problem , When I plug my Razr XT-910 To my PC , after enabling usb debugging it works and it is identified among the drivers,
but after a period ( 5min) My PC connection gets disabled but windows cannot detect any problem,
the web sites just don't respond while Connection icon shows it's still available and other PCs In my house work just fine.
I disabled MTP Mode and decided to use it under mass storage mode and it worked without this issue
what is the probelm and how can I fix it ? My PC Spec :-
Phenom II X4 955BE
ASUS M5A99FX Pro R2.0
8GB Ram
My Razr :-

It sounds like your PC is trying to use the phone as a modem, i.e. USB tethering. The PC routes packets out to your phone instead of going out over the ethernet or WiFi connection. Your carrier is probably blocking USB tethering, so you get no internet on your PC.
Disabling MTP disables the USB tethering, so that is why the problem goes away when MTP is turned off.
I can't verify this solution, but I would try to disable USB tethering. On my phone (stock verizon version running 4.0.4) this is done under settings/techering/enable USB tethering, which you want un-checked. I think this option is only available after you are plugged into PC.
i hope i can explain myself good enough please let me know if you have any questions..
my android phone (galaxy s3 i9300) is connected to my router's wifi, just like anybody else if they have a router that supports wifi.. all other smartphones i have are connected to it.
now i have a computer but i can't run a cable to it from the router.
i just want to know if there's any way i share the wifi connection i'm connected to on my phone to the computer using USB cable
it's just like using regular tethering but instead of using the mobile's network to tether a wifi connection, i want to use the wifi connection to tether my pc?
i have a rooted device, all ready to go, is there an app or something i need to install on my pc..anything please help
My Galaxy S6 edge+ has 33mbps download speed with my mobile carrier. But when I connect it to my PC and use the mobile phone internet via USB tethering I can only get ~20kb download speed!
Does anyone know why and how I can fix this?
I know it should not be this slow because I was using USB tethering only a few days ago with amazing speeds, this only happens today.
I think it may be a driver related problem?
I have tried changing/updating the USB tehter driver via Device manager to the Microsoft:
Remote NDIS based Internet Sharing Device
Remote NDIS Compatible Device
neither helped
