Search engine or program for root files - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi.
Is there any search engine or program that we can insert the full rom letters(Like XEU-I9100XWLSW-20130530173418.zip) and bring us the best/latest/safest file that is offer ONLY root and nothing more.
And we can install to any s2 mobile from recovery menu?

google.com

Ha ha ha ....
Very funny....
Can you please answer with a SIRIUS answer.
Thanks

There is no such thing. Perhaps you could code an app like this ?
If you want to root your phone, choose one of the usual root methods.

Ok then.
Is there one root file that fit to any rom?
If doesn't then is there any root file for each rom version like
android 2.3.x
android 4.0.x
android 4.1.x
android 4.2.x
e.t.c.

If you're talking about CFRoot, you need to matchup the stock kernel you're currently running with the relevant CFRoot kernel as closely as you can (doesn't have to be an exact match tho; read the thread carefully), or you can flash the Odin version of a custom kernel like Siyah (read the first page of the relevant thread to work out which build you need to flash depending on which version of Android you're running). And there are root methods which don't involve flashing a kernel for some older Android builds. It's all in the General & Development sections.
No, there is not a 'one root file' to fit any rom.

What exactly is cfroot and what you earn if you install your phone that root file? Is there different cfroot file for every rom or it is the same?
And what is the difference with the simply root files?

Search (This is my final post to this thread).

WHY is you final post to this thread?
Are you so hard to explain to a newbie some things?
If it is so hard to you to explain some things to any newbie then you DON'T post at all to newbie people is so simple.
As i read for cfroot it change the custom counter so i don't even try that even i can use the triangle away after that.

Hey you ungrateful muppet, read the rules and get into the habit of searching.

NO NO NO i am not a ungrateful muppet but i ask the person it answer to some of my questions and after that it tell me i don't answer to any other questions of you.
I believe if it DOESN'T want to answer to any newbie questions it surely can don't post at all at my topic i believe is so simple.
So where do you thing i was an ungrateful muppet??????

Ok I'll try to spell it out, with what I can make out of your problem.
1.You were helped by mistahbungle and instead of thanking him,you insult him by telling what to do/what not to do.
2.I dont see you hitting the thanks button for his help. And out of 165 posts youve made, only 3 thanks dished out.So if your posts have asked for help, then that would make you "ungrateful".
3.Simple searches would advise you the thing you asked for doesnt exist,as said by mistahbungle.
You can read posts about rooting GB/ICS/JB with recovery/and or odin, also look at exynos abuse.
4.You are in a forum where I,and loads of other people have read through 1,000's of posts, and help people for free in our spare time.
5.You are meant to read the rules, and search to save opening up new threads. So looking at your thread, throw in a couple of lame questions, and your attitude towards someone that is trying to help you makes you a muppet.

CF-Root kernel only offers root. CF-Root kernel, is your keyword here.
There are lots of other ways to ONLY get root, all you need to do is search
To find out about CF-Root kernel - search
You have the keyword, and now your question can be easily answered. (it could've been easily answered before cause you already had the keyword)

The Binary counter will get triggered if you flash anything unofficial, your only option is to either keep it or reset it, there are no super safe simple one click all firmware supported rooting app's, if you're too scared to do it then ask someone to do it for you, or better still keep stock.

If i have ALWAYS OFFICIAL ROMS to my mobile and then simply make it root the counter will it count or not?
In little words the counter begin to count only if i install to my phone custom roms and never oficial roms?

Official Roms won't trigger the counter, and in JB for i9100 Samsung has enabled flashing signed zip file's from stock recovery (which can be used to root the device), in ics you should try rooting with exynos abuse(which is the easiest method), rooting anyway would trigger the binary counter.

What is exynos abuse and when the counter begin to count?
If i have a mobile with NOT CUSTOM but official rom and make it rooted it begin to count or not?
And the triangleaway it reset ALL mobiles phones counter or only on samsung mobile phones custom rom counter?

I will repeat exactly what has been said multiple times to you now...
"Search you muppet"
This is not spoon feed central, If you want to learn at least have the ability to search and read first. Instead of asking what exynos abuse is and expecting people to try and explain it to you why dont you do something simple like type the words into google or search box at top of page??? Those will give you threads that have plenty of info for you.

How to root and 'best' ROM

I'm a noob who needs to learn how to root their sgs2. First Android phone but I'm looking to open up and get more from my phone.
Also there seems to be so many roms and people taking of bricking. If anyone could explain the 'best' rom and what to do once my phone is rooted I would appreciate it thanks

If you don't know what you want root for, I'd suggest not rooting.
The best ROM is <insert name of ROM here>.
My advice: stick to stock.
Man, people need to use the search button nowadays :/
As well as Google.
If you're an Android noob and you start rooting, there is a high chance of failing to root HENCE a brick would occur. Most bricks you hear or see that people get are from careless actions or they don't know what in god's name they are doing.
Do not make that mistake.
Research before attempting because I assume no matter what, you want your device rooted.
Make sure you have an GT-I9100 device, check by turning on and off your device.
The best ROMs I have used, and maybe you should stick to for a while, is either CriskeloROM, SensatioN Rom, CheckROM or Lite'ning ROM, found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1253665
Use Odin to flash a custom kernel, for example Ninphetamine: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1179814
Follow guides on ROM pages to install their ROMs, installing a ROM automatically roots your device.
Good advice from previous poster.First read up on rooting and what it brings to your phone as it doesnt just bring flashing rights. As for bricking, its easy to brick your phone if your not carefull and dont read the instructions well and put the wrong kernel in Odin. Its an easy proccess but some people just dont follow the guides.Bricking in some cases is self caused. The ROM thing is a hard one cos there is no perfect ROM when everyone has different needs so its a case of read each ROM thread and choose what you like.If you dont like it try another. No one here on this site who knows what they are doing,Im quite sure, has only ever flashed one ROM in there time here.Best thing to do right now is stay stock until you read up on some important facts about flashing
1.Rooting,how why and what it brings.
2.nandroid backup
3.EFS/IMEI backup and restore-super impotant cos if you loose this info your screwed
4.the difference between each one and what each Dev brings to his/her ROM
5.Flashing.Some are done via recovery and some via odin. Also bootloops and how to get out of them
if i were you i'd first read all bout roms/kernels till your eyes bleed
then once you know how to do it, well pick a kernel and a rom which suits your needs
learn from people mistakes, i usually read couple pages on how people messed up while flashing so i dont fall in the same, and in case you brick your phone also have a way to recover it prepared
Maxwell0;2109742
Also there seems to be so many roms and people taking of bricking. If anyone could explain the 'best' rom and what to do once my phone is rooted I would appreciate it thanks :)
As asked if you know nothing and that knowledge is so limited you have to ask the banned question what is best rom then stick with stock until you understand .
Likewise why root if you dont know why .

Read post #4 of that thread. It has a WORKING link to the "[04/Jan][ROOTING/UNROOTING] DooMLoRD's Easy Rooting Toolkit [v4.0](zergRush Exploit)

If you can't understand this and think it's not helpful, I would suggest you not root your phone. No offense.

You could have flashed a custom ROM withOUT rooting. Indeed, there are several custom ROMs that come already rooted.
EDIT: Sorry, ignore the above sentence. I'm mistaken. You need root. My bad.
Sorry, but in my opinion, you went backwards on this. You rooted for the sake of rooting, then wondered "what can I do now that I have root?", instead of rooting because you needed to do something that required root. But I digress, and I'll get off my soapbox now.
That said, several apps that require root that I like are DroidWall (control what apps can access the internet via 3g and/or wifi), SixAxis Controller (use a ps3 controller on your phone - great for emulators), AdAway (ad blocker), Chainfire 3D (for Tegra only compatible games), Root Explorer (essential for tweaking files in system folders), Startup manager (control what apps are allowed to start when the phone boots), Titanium Backup (backup/restore applications and their data, freeze apps), and SetCPU (undervolt/overclock/change governors/etc).
First of all i rooted for the apps that need rooting like titanium and some other apps.
Second, indeed for flashing because i always thought it was essential. (saw your edit)
Third, i read some things about security issues (dataleaks fe.)and thought i had to root to solve them.
Maybe i'm totally wrong but as i said before there is so much info that its hard to pick the right things out of the topics.

Flashing roms two methods ODIN or CWM and now MOBILE ODIN .
If you want to flash a custom rom you read that roms install instructions no more and no less .
Most but not all custom roms are flashed via CWM
CWM requires root and CWM install .
Root + CWM .

Now know that with the actual root i can't flash.
Do i need to unroot this root before Root CWM?
So i read this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1103399 and took Odin.
Now wondering wich CF Root to take.
My kernelversion says: [email protected]#2
Wich kernel i need to take:
this one: CF-Root-SGS2_XW_XEF_KJ2-v4.4-CWM4.zip
or this one: CF-Root-SGS2_XW_XEF_KJ2-v5.0-CWM5.zip
Or am i reading it wrong?
KJ2 might as well take v5 CWM

And what about the unroot part? Do i need to unroot first and then CF-root?

Sorry i didn't list one of my main things i searched the forums and everyone about the GT 9100 are all with vodaphone (ones in aus) and i'm with telstra im not sure if that changes things? just wish there was a sticky explaining all this haha.
They use different kernels, but the procedure should be the same, just find the right kernel for your phone, and you can root it. I used this method http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1125414 but CF-Root might be better since it has CWM which allows you to flash different ROMs. But that's if you want to flash ROMs .

I know that it requires something about insecure and secure kernals to root haha, i know almost nothing else. But how come it only requires the kf4? and not the whole DVKF4? haha.
It's just their way of "branding" kernels. The rest is a signature for something else .

KF4 is the build, (I believe K is the year, F is the month, and 4 is the build number) the DV portion indicates where and for what carrier (if applicable). It's some wonky code Samsung came up with. I don't know the logic behind how they picked them though.
DVKF4 is for Telstra in Australia, from what I can tell.
Edit to add: forgot to say; carrier and location are unimportant when rooting, so that's why I said any insecure KF4 kernel should work for you.

Yep. Everything you need to know is in the Stickies, CFRoot thread, the carrier branded firmware thread & the country specific/non branded firmware thread.
So far as flashing custom roms or kernels go, follow whatever instructions these particular roms or kernels have.
Those firmware threads I linked you to have tutorials that shows you how to use Odin which you can use to root your phone initially. You can also flash stock roms if you ever need to at some point in the future with it. Once your phone is rooted, most custom roms/kernels are flashed via CWM (or Mobile Odin).

He there,
I will open by saying I am a complete novice at this but can follow instructions to the letter as long as I have them in front of me.
I have a Galaxy S2 on the Orange network currently running ICS 4.0.3
I have tried rooting it, following the instructions from one or two threads here and seemed to achieve little success "Titanium Backup says NO!"
Thankfully, I haven't bricked it XD
I was wondering if any of the experts here could give me either a link to working instructions on the method to root and perhaps even install a JB based kernel to this particular device in the S2 family or would be so gracious as to spell it out for me here?
Many thanks.

Ummm thanks, I think. But this is exactly what I didn't need. I need follow able instructions not vague statements in broken Internet speak.
Is there anyone out there willing/able to do that?
What you "need" to do is read the rules and stop expecting to be spoon fed.
Maybe Sun90 thought you had done just a teensy weensy bit of the donkey work for yourself,so youd understand what hes saying.
Ahh yes, this explains EVERYTHING.
For your information I have tried doing the legwork myself. What that got me was clockworkmod SEEMING to install but then being informed by titanium still informing me my phone was still unrooted.
I had wondered where I was going wrong since I am already aware there are specific complications with my particular handset. If you had read my original post rather than just jumped in to attack me then you would have known that.
But then I am not surprised at this reaction, a friend warned me there are a lot of snarky jerks on here that like to shoot people with valid questions down, I had hoped to prove him wrong. Maybe I still will, in part.
Well a friend told me theres a lot of lazy twats that come here and expect to be spoon fed....not prepared to spend their own time learning.
People help other people out here, and the normal courtesy is to thank people. Now if you dont understand what they mean,a normal person would ask them to expand on or explain their answer......not be a sanctimonius git like you.
Now,read your 1st post again, some crap about you can do stuff/guides if "its layed out in front of you".Then you say youve had that twice and youve still failed. Now you want someone to spend their time with attempt no.3.
Hope you like your orange p model,I stupidly bought the plain unbranded one....lol.

Sgs2 ics 4.0.4 help!!

Hey,
So I upgraded my Samsung Galaxy S II I9100 to ICS 4.0.4 before 1-2 months. The new graphics and extra features looked really great at first, but 2 hours after using it on normal applications (Facebook, YouTube, Twitter.) It froze and did nothing, like literally just freezes at the screen it lagged on. This has been happening continuously for the past 2 months and I'm really sick of it, I upgraded my phone and my dad's one (both SGS2I9100) using Samsung Kies, ever since that, it just keeps freezing like 4 times a day and I have to take off my battery and re-put it so it can reset since nothing will do this.. The old the firmware I had was the really amazingly going well and never lagged even once (I can't remember which firmware though). I'm a total noob, I didn't and don't have my phone rooted or some stuff like that, expect downloading APKs off the internet lol.
I really want someone to help me in this, I know there must be a solution since I don't think I'm the only one who has been annoyed by this, specially when it happens on a daily routine. I searched over the forums and found nothing. I know there must be something talking about the issue but I'm too nooby to understand the article titles which might be a solution of my problem.
Please help me in my problem it really bothers me and xda is my last hope...
Thank you all.
Note: please use simple terms because I really won't understand, and if you do, please teach me them lol.
Well, first of all your up for some reading.
While you go from thread to thread you'll run into the world of ROMs and flashing.
The first thing you have to know is that your device comes with 4 things:
1) Hardware (dah)
2) Kernel (link between Hardware & OS)
3) ROM (OS)
4) Modem (Baseband for your country / Region)
You are actually on 4.0.4, It's Kernel is known to suffer the brick bug issue.
Flashing is used to get the best from your device, in relation to your personal user experience. You got plenty of options like Stock Roms and Custom Roms, as well as Stock Kernels and custom kernels.
When flashing stock roms you get the chance to get rid of your carrier stuff (bloatware and animation boot) by getting an unbranded ROM (samsung official stock rom), you can either go down to previous versions (Gingerbread, ICS 4.0.3) or even go up (Jelly bean leaked ROM). Carrier branded or not, it's just a matter of choice.
When flashing custom roms you get a whole lot of roms to choose from. The most common are CyanogenMod (CM), RR (revolution remix), Omega and etcetera. These roms take the best of the stock roms and leave the worst, so you'll get a more personalized experience.
When Flashing custom kernels your trying to get the best performance for your ROM, this means you can use a stock ROM with a custom kernel.
Modems are basebands that let your carrier network function in your region / country, so if you flash a modem, your network might not work, so you'll have to flash another modem and so on.
Check all that out and if you decide to go on flashing, we are here to help you on the easiest / safest way to do it.
rembember to read and re-read all first.
you did notice this is now your official post right?
Okay I kinda get it, can you kindly please send me links that will help my problem? I'd rather downgrade with Stock ROM than a costum one.
Another thing, will it affect anything that has to do with my Carier? and does my phone have to be rooted in order this to work? If so how can I?
Many thanks.

try sammobile.com
they have plenty of stock roms.
I'd personally advice you to get 4.0.3 stock ROM. What's you carrier? I could look it up for you while you learn about flashing/downgrade.
That's what I was thinking of too, and it's Orange IL (Israel)
I need you you to tell me how do it too please

The best option for you is to get Mobile Odin Pro, got 5 bucks to spare in google play?
After installing that, what should I do?

You really should start reading. The people who posted above didn't get all the knowledge by inventing it by themselves, but through searching, reading and trying to follow rhe guides. Search for the threads that are made for people like you who are quite new to this

There are 2 types of people: those who do not like to read and the rest who like. Then those who like may not understand. Now, those who do not read and those who read but don't understand actually contribute 99% of the posts in every forums you visit.

When the guy doesn't read it was a good advice to start doing it, because it's not really allowed to ask everything that is allready asked so many times.
When he actually does read, but doesn't understand (which I don't think because he's asking basic question about steps he must take) then it's maybe better to rethink if he's really going to flash something because he doesn't know what he's doing

Okay, so I did some reading and figured out that I needed to root my phone, I'm on this thread which was recommended by many people http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1501719 . Am I doing it the right thing? since I want to downgrade to stock 4.0.3?
Second question, I downloaded the CWM zip and extractred the CWM file on SDCARD, it says reboot to recovery, how can I do that?

Why don't you just flash a stock rom through Odin? No offence but I'm serious, the lack of knowledge you show here by asking about Recovery to me seems to be a sign you shouldn't root it at all, and learn a whole lot more about flashing and more if you want to.

These all aren't stupid questions, because everybody had to go through them the first time. It's just that all the questions have allready been answered here on xda, so that's why you've been told to search and read for yourself.
Here's an article that can be helpfull:
http://www.jayceooi.com/2011/08/08/how-to-install-firmware-on-samsung-galaxy-s2-with-odin-video/
If you don't fully understand it, please look into the guides in the S2 section.
