Internal storage not mounting, in recovery, no adb. - Sprint HTC EVO 4G LTE

i flashed fresh evo lte yesterday via goo manager to update radios, ran flash img gui to go back to aosp, then flashed cm10.1 but it wouldnt boot. eventually i ended up formatting my internal SD, removing my external SD completely, flashing back to fresh evo and it worked, but still no internal storage. i dont know why but im wondering if my internal storage is labeled wrong, or just toasted.. no access to fastboot or adb. no form of formatting so far has worked
im on hboot 1.15.0000, radio 1.05.11.0606, s-on, twrp 2.2.2.0

A rom will not update your firmware/radios
If I remember correctly CM,AOSP,AOKP roms mount your internal storage differently.
Your TWRP is veryyyyyy old
Y U NO S-OFF it will save you alot of headaches
FacePalm in Original Dev takes about 5 minutes now goooooo
Once S-OFF you can update your firmware/radios manually

heh i did this all before s-off was even an option ill your suggestion, i wasnt sure how to go about s-off now that i have no internal storage:/
edit: need a working adb environment for that:/ ill try flashing my last aosp rom to see if that will get me a working adb enviroment to mount the storage then push the kernel through.

I don't think it'll be possible to get S-off right now w/o adb access. i wonder if relocking would allow you to flash a stock ruu and restart. That's probably not possible w/o adb either though.

What does "adb devices" say when you connect your phone? Are you checking the obvious and making sure that usb debugging is enabled?

i decided to reinstall java and android sdks, and it appears i have restored a working adb environment. i try to get s-off now before bed.
edit: nope. well fastboot not working at least.

Make sure you update android-sdk then reboot your PC plug your phone back in and it should install more drivers it did for me anyways after I updated

I suggest doing the following:
Uninstall all drivers and HTC Sync
Reboot computer
Grab the *standalone* drivers from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2246355
Run the installer from above
Reboot computer again
Plug in your phone, have it install drivers
Reboot your computer and phone
Now plug in your phone one last time and it should install the rest of the drivers

I am so lost, need help pleeeeeeeaase!!

Ok, so I got my rezound today and the first thing I did was unlock the bootloader because of the factory reset, I didnt want to adjust any settings just to wipe them out. So i unlocked the bootloader and everything was smooth. Then I rebooted my phone and then tried to install Amon Ra via the guide in the development section. I did everything to the tee but the phone never rebooted automatically so I manually rebooted and then powered down. I deleted the PH98IMG file from my sd card (which was for the 1.02.605.6 version) Then I tried to access the Recovery via the volume down and power buttons. When it looks like the recovery is going to load but I get an image of a phone with an exclamation point inside of a red triangle ...???? So i booted my phone back up it would no longer connect via USB mounting as storage, I tried everything from formatting the SD card to factory resetting, to rebooting my computer. No idea why that all of a sudden my USB would not connect, I get a CD ROM auto play notification with a white square with VZ inside of it, WTF!?! Ok, also I cannot update to the newest software version. I even relocked but when my phone says checking for new software it just dissapears and nothing happens. This is so frustrating, I just wanted to install Amon Ra to perm root so I could install cleanrom but apparantley im doing something wrong and I have no idea, just trying to follow directions, theres just so many files and im not sure if I have the right ones
I tried to install Amon Ra with the AIO by Hasoon but all I get is a command prompt with this in it
'C:\Users\User\Documents\Desktop\HTC' is not recognized as an internal or extern
al command,
operable program or batch file.
C:\Users\User\Documents\Desktop\HTC ReZound\AIO Toolkit\Rezound_All-In-One_Kit_V
1.0\data>
Also, I charged my phone for like 2 hours when I got it, briefly powering it on twice, the battery light is still orange and the meter under about phone/battery is full and it still says charging???
EDIT: My device is connecting via USB all of a sudden magically....

Did you installed htc sync in your computer?
Sent From My Optimized Blasting 4GLTE ReZound
Yes I had to have the drivers installed to unlock it.... One more thing, I just did the oneclickroot method and it says that I now have perm root. I thought the one click was just a temp root. So I factory reset and still had root. Got the tether up and running now I just need to figure out how to install a recovery so I can flash roms.

Anyways about recovery. Did you try pushing the recovery.img with adb commands? In fastboot?

Yes definately do it from fastboot. I just makes things to much easier.
Also I would apply the OTA before you get to far into the setup process as it will require you to relock your phone to get the new radios from Verizon.

I did relock my phone "fastboot oem lock" from fastboot...it verified that it was "relocked" at the top. Then I tried to boot up the phone and checked for new updates and it searched for about 20 seconds and then just dissapeared and did nothing, just like when it was unlocked. I'm nervous to do anything to this thing now, i tried to restore a backup of apps that I had backed up from my Droid X, and it stuck at the boot logo, I've had to factory reset a handful of times already trying to figure this thing out. I just spent 2 hours re downloading all the apps I had. I suppose I would make a new backup before I try anything else.
Ok first of all you should never do a restore from a phone other than the one you are restoring to, that is just asking for problems.
Next, google RUU_Vigor.
You want the 2.01 version. This will give you the update and wipe your phone clean as if you had just taken it out of the box, meaning it will delete all your data.
After it is complete you can download the Amon Ra img file. Place that in the same directory that adb and fastboot are in. Rename it to Amon_Ra.img. Get your command line to the folder that you have fastboot in and then type this command, "fastboot flash recovery Amon_Ra.img" (without the quotes)
You now have the update and Amon Ra loaded on your phone. Boot into recovery and install su from the developer menu and boom you are done. Phone rooted.

Ok, awesome. This sounds doable except installing the RUU, I found the file and its downloading now but how do I install it? I notice it's a zip file but do I extract it and install the contents of it via fastboot as well? Or is there a way to flash zips with the stock recovery menu? Also, I am guessing a backup would be wise before this and the current version of Amon Ra is 3.14, the one titled "recovery-ra-vigor-3.14-gnm.img" . Just rename it to Amon_Ra.img, place it in platform-tools of my SDK files and install via fastboot?
Also, isn't there a newer RUU? A leaked 3.10.605.13? I have seen that ROMs are based off it but I cannot find the actual file anywhere...
No. The RUU is for official releases only. If you're getting the PHzip file of it then just put it on your ext sd card and it will run in bootloader. Just boot the phone and it will find it. Then make sure to delete that file when it's done so your phone won't find it every time you boot.
If you download the exe file then you run it on your PC by double clicking on it and will need HTC.sync installed.
As to Amon Ra, personally I don't like to rename files I've downloaded from a dev so they don't get lost and disorganized. It's up to you, but you don't have to rename it to flash it, just type the name it has exactly. People rename it for easier typing I guess so if you do that I would suggest at least keeping the version number in the name.
Then after you flash Amon Ra, navigate to its developer menu and install su and then you'll be rooted.

Ok, so I factory reset my device after making a backup with mybackuppro, relocked my device and placed the 3.54mb PHzip from scottsroms website onto the root of my SD card, booted up into bootloader, it checked the file and then nothing. Rebooted the phone and checked the software version, nothing changed. I dont see how something so simple is so frustrating.....I could try to download the larger file thats like 449mb but its titled "Stock Rooted ROM - Vigor - WWE 2.01.605.11.zip" from scottsroms website and its not a PHzip. Should I rename it PH98IMG.zip? then try that?

If you really want to start fresh you need to grab the RUU. That is the official release from HTC and will put you completely back to stock. Get it here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=22045045&postcount=58
I recommend going the RUU route to be certain you get your phone wiped clean. When I ran it for a fresh start it got rid of old folders/files that flashing a ROM did not. Here's some instructions I posted for someone before:
5) Download the RUU for your mainver to your computer.
This is an exe file so just run it on your pc with your phone attached. You need to be locked and you need HTC Sync installed. Now you are back to stock.
5a) Unlock your phone again using the same unlock bin file you got before by putting it in the same folder you are now using for sdk. Type the following command:
fastboot flash unlocktoken Unlock_code.bin
If you don't have it obtain a new one by following the same steps you did before to get it originally. Here is a guide for that:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=20780879&postcount=1
Now you should be stock and unlocked.
6) Flash Amon Ra in fastboot. Get the lateset version, 3.14.
Type the following command to flash it:
fastboot flash recovery recovery-ra-vigor-3.14-gnm.img
Now you should have Amon Ra on your phone.
7) Root your phone by installing su using Amon Ra. Go to the developer menu and find the option in there.
Now you should be stock, unlocked and rooted.
8) MAKE A NANDROID BACK UP NOW AND LABEL IT.
9) Flash a new ROM.
If you use that Stock Rooted ROM, just place it on your ext sd card, then go into Amon Ra and navigate to "flash from zip file" or something like that and select that and it will flash in recovery. Mostly kernels are renamed PHzip and will flash in hboot.

That smaller file you downloaded was most likely just a kernel.

Ok, now I see. I think I had to install an older version of Amon Ra since my software version was older. I succesfully installed Amon Ra 3.10 and installed su and superuser, now I see that I can just flash zips from the menu much like CWM recovery on my Droid X. Now I just have to figure out why my f&%!ing router keeps dropping to local only every 5 minutes, it won't stay connected long enough for me to download an RUU file that size...
So if I flash the zip from scottsroms website do I have to put the kernel on the memory card as well so that it flashes correctly? Thats assuming that the PHzip file is the kernel
Do you have a link or know where I could find an all in one zip file so i dont have to mess around with seperate kernels...a zip that i could flash that has the basebands and everything, i would use the RUU that you posted a link to but its an exe and im not sure what to do with that...
Yes, you need to flash the kernel separately for that.
There is a thread for another stock ota ROM by con247. He has the update packed into it so it will flash the ROM then take you to hboot to flash the update. You need to lock your phone before flashing the update to get the new radios.
So...
Put ROM on sd card
Flash in recovery
When you get to bootloader put phone in fastboot and connect to PC
Relock phone
Flash PHzip in hboot
Unlock phone
Flash Amon Ra if needed (can't recall if you'll have stock recovery now or not)
Install su
The RUU is really easy. Just download it to your computer and double click on it. just have phone locked and HTC sync installed.

I think I may be slightly confused. The RUU is the update right? I just want the most current OTA update with the latest basebands and any bugs that were worked out in the January OTA...Once i'm updated I want to flash a ROM, or do I not need to update in order to flash ROMs? I wanted to check out the newest cleanrom but it says its based off of a leaked software version so idk really where to begin with that one...
The RUU is the complete ROM/kernel/recovery with updates, as long as you get the 2.x one. It will get you stock updated with a factory fresh phone.
You can also get stock with the update from the con237 Stock OTA ROM, which is different than the RUU at that link that con247 also posted.
You do need to update if you want the latest radios.
Are you downloading to your computer? Perhaps you can download to your phone using 4g? Or 3g if you don't get 4g where you are.

So I tried to run that RUU exe with my phone plugged in although my PC would not pick up my device and an installshield popped up and looked like it was loading something, but then it dissappeared and nothing happened. So I uninstalled the HTC drivers along with HTC sync and then reinstalled them. My device was then recognized by the computer but something calle TL-bootstrap wanted to install. I just ignored it. So with the phone plugged in I tried to run the RUU exe again and the same thing happened, nothing...

[Q] Extremely new to rooting, help?

So as I have read and read through threads about unlocking my htc droid dna, it is 2.06 and I have had conflicting answers.. Is it actually possible to root? I have read things regarding pre 2.0 but not after, I also read about moonshine.
If someone can just point me in the right direction that would be great
Thanks for your time

Thank you that is basically what I needed to know
I was literally just in the same situation as you are currently this past weekend. My DNA was bone stock on the latest OTA from Verizon. First I installed the HTC Sync manager program to get the required drivers installed, and then uninstalled ONLY the sync manager program. I then installed the Android SDK on my pc and set up both ADB and FASTBOOT (there are tutorials online showing you how to do this).
Once you have ADB and FASTBOOT installed you should test these connections out to ensure that moonshine will function correctly. You do this by connecting the DNA to your PC and opening a command prompt. Then you will type "adb devices" and it should return a device ID to you. Then boot into your bootloader (reboot and hold the volume down button) and then select fastboot. Your DNA should show "Fastboot USB" if memory serves correctly. You can then return to windows and type "fastboot devices" and it should also return a device ID to you.
Once you know that ADB and FASTBOOT are working, you can download moonshine. BE SURE TO FOLLOW THOSE INSTRUCTIONS TO THE LETTER! Once you are moonshined you can then install a recovery. I recommend TWRP 2.5. I did not like TWRP 2.6 as you cannot easily remove nandroid backups with it like you can on 2.5. Follow TWRP's instructions and then boot into your recovery. Before you do anything MAKE A NANDROID BACKUP! Once this is completed I recommend cutting out the TWRP folder from your DNA internal storage and placing it on your PC as this can take up GB's of space on your phone.
Download the rom of your choice and place it on your DNA. I put mine into a "ROM" folder I created on the phone. Boot into recovery and do a "Factory Reset" wipe. Once this is done head back to "Install" and find your ROM. Swipe to install and enjoy. I really like Newtoroot's NOS GPE!
Thank you so much, I am following everything right now I have an id for fastboot and adb starting the moonshine instructions now.
Well thank you for the instructions I achieved s-off and and current making a nandroid backup and then going to flash to the rom you suggested!
Was very straightforward with 0 issues whatsoever

[Q] ADB not finding phone?

Hey all,
I have an HTC One running GE on Sense (it's 4.2.2), with Bulletproof. My computer is an HP, running on Win 8.1.
I made the mistake of not formatting on the upgrade from 4.1 and that's taken away like 4 GB of space for me to use. I was trying to reformat so I could get some of that back, but when I put the phone in download mode in CWM, ADB can't find the phone.
Obviously, I can't reformat without having a ROM ready to install.
I've done a number of things to get it to show up in ADB:
a) checked for HTC sync (not present)
b) checked for other drivers in device manager (not present)
c) enabled the install of unsigned drivers (apparently this needed to be done separately in Win 8.1)
d) tried to point the system to the Universal Naked Drivers (the system says no suitable drivers found)
e) enabled USB debugging
Results are the same - ADB is unable to find it. I see the device under device manager, but when I try to have it use the drivers I want, it says it cannot find them.
Is there something I'm doing wrong here?

windows 8.1 and your older hboot do not get along.
do you have access to another pc long enough to get s-off on your phone so you can run a RUU ?

I do, but if I need to get s-off first I have a few more questions.
1) Do I need to try to run adb when the phone is on the HBOOT screen or when the phone is in CWM/TWRP's sideload option?
2) What method of getting s-off am I going to be able to use from win7/the version of TWRP I'm in?
3) Is there a way to upgrade the HBOOT so it does work better?
4) What is an RUU?
Some of these questions are probably total noob questions, but it's mostly because the current GE+Sense/Bulletproof combination is insanely stable and this is my first HTC phone.

1. you run adb when the phone is plugged into the pc and booted up or when the phone is in twrp/cwm .. it doesn't work in bootloader
2.revone we hope or rumrunner maybe
3. hboot is part of the firmware update .. you need s-off first
4. A RUU is a Retail update utility it's how the carrier returns your phone to stock (out of the box condition)
If you looking to just gain back the space lost from the update all you need is a root explorer
and go to /data/media thats your old sdcard - you can delete what you don't want from here
the new sdcard is located at data/media/0

Stuck at white HTC screen after battery died

Hello all,
So I am having an interesting issue with my Rezound which has served me well for the past two years. Last night while I was browsing the internet I got the warning that my battery was going to go dead. Ignored it and kept browsing, eventually causing the phone to auto shutdown, fine, I have a spare battery (love removable batteries), threw that in and it started to boot but gets stuck at the white "HTC" loading screen. I am able to get into HBOOT and get the following.
*** LOCKED ***
VIGOR PVT SHIP S_ON RL
HBOOT-2.28.0000
RADIO-2.23.10.0123r/2.23.10.0124r
OpenDSP-v14.6.0.7708.00.0507
eMMC-Boot
Sep 20 2012,17:40:22
When I try to do a factory reset it will act like it is going to start, showing a phone with a green circle and an arrow, and a loading bar. Then before the loading bar begins to get filled in at all (it is just gray with diagonal lines) the green circle changes to a red triangle and an exclamation point.
If I try to boot into recovery I get the same phone with a red triangle image.
This phone is 100% stock unrooted and untouched in any way save for disabling the stock bloatware (I didnt even root it to uninstall that!). AFAIK there was no OTA update done to it yesterday, and I have been using it every day up until now with no real issues.
Simply just the battery died, and now it wont boot. Any ideas?
I am having the same issue on my wife's Rezound. It died last night and went into the same bootloop. Tried a factory reset to no avail. Phone is stock with the same info as previous poster in HBOOT.
I'm familiar with some android development, but know nothing about HTC phones. If somebody could point me in the right direction it would be greatly appreciated.
So I have tried running the stock RUU, no dice, I was already at the latest version.
I then unlocked my bootloader through HTC dev and tried to flash AmonRA so I can do custom ROMs.
Now when I go into my bootloader and select "Recovery" the white HTC screen pops up with a brown progress bar in the top right which fills up quickly, then the phone turns off and that is it until I remove the battery (wont respond to power again after it turns itself off).
So it would appear flashing AmonRA did not work either. Next I will be trying CWM.
Thanks for the update. Keep us posted if anything works. I just don't have the time to learn and try everything right now.
So I got CWM Recovery flashed successfully, but when I boot into recovery and try to wipe I get format failed and mounting errors.
Could my eMMC have been corrupt? How can I fix it?
EDIT: I also get cant mount and cant open on /cache, /system, /sdcard from inside the CWM recovery
Have you attempted to s-off and ruu down to an official exe?
Sent from my DNA using my mind.
I have not done s-off yet, would that fix my mount issues? I am now running TWRP recovery, that also is unable to mount anything. I appear to be having issues with the /dev/block/mmcblk0p35 and /dev/block/mmcblk0p36 and /dev/block/mmcblk0p29 etc areas. At this point any help would be greatly appreciated.
I have put a good 12 hours into trying to get this thing to boot. I feel like I am close and if I could just get it to somehow re-format the whole /block directory then flash a new rom it would would. Pushing an RUU from fastboot did not work, nor did running it from TWRP. TWRP gave me issues in the aforementioned mmcblk areas, and fastboot just says failed, I would guess for the same reason though.
Yes, if all else fails. RUU exe is the last resort
Sent from my DNA using my mind.
I found another phone for the wife to use for now. I'll try to s-off and ruu when i have some time.

Where can I find the instructions and files to get S-Off without access to a ROM and running windows? The JPBear instructions state Linux only and says I need to have a stock ROM.
OK, so from my research I will need to use Linux. Do I need the HTC USB drivers or anything or can I just take a fresh install of Ubuntu and run JPBear? Also, since I have unlocked my bootloader and (tried) to flash a rooted stock rom, do I now need to re-lock and try to run the RUU again? I did try that tonight (re-locking then running the stock RUU) but it still gave me the error that HBOOT was older on the version I was trying to flash.
You won't be able to run any RUU with being s on as their isn't one available for the latest OTA. Try wiping and formatting cache data and system with the latest CWM (Touch). Then follow flash instructions of a ROM for s on.

I have personally used the windows version of jpbear on a custom ROM to s-off my Rezound. It is somewhere in this forum. I was in a similar pickle and needed s-off to ruu. Albeit, my phone didn't have mount issues, so I don't know if ruu will fix your specific issue, but if anything will, ruu will fix it.

I believe an RUU would fix it if I can manage to get S-Off. I found an old version of ControlBear 0.2.2 for windows, when I run it it tells me to connect my phone and install drivers if I run from recovery. If I run from fastboot USB it trys to reboot my device into the ROM. So I dont know if JPBear will even work for me if I don't have access to my ROM.

First off let me say a big THANK YOU for taking the time to respond and help me out. I did some searching, this is the guide you are referring to?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2502814&highlight=s-off
I have no qualms with using linux and have some experience with ubuntu I just do not have an install up and running now so I wanted to avoid that if possible, but no big deal. In this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1612035&page=202
you suggest I use fastboot usb to reinstall everything, is there a guide for this also? I am able to get to the white HBOOT screen to do fastboot USB, and I am also able to get into TWRP recovery. Version 2.6.3.3. However if I try to wipe anything from inside recovery I get "Unable to mount '/emmc'" or '/cache' '/data' or '/system'.
Sorry for my noobness with flashing, last time I did any of this was when I unlocked/s-off my DINC which was very easy at the time.
EDIT: I notice also in that guide you suggest to start from inside the ROM, I am unable to do this. Will it work from HBOOT, fastboot usb, or recovery?

1.) yes that is the guide im referring to...2.) AHA 2.6.3.3 HAS MOUNT ISSUES AND IS POSTED....go to an earlier version like 2.6.3.0...2.6.3.3 is only meant for FLASHING KITKAT ONLY and nothing else.....also why did you even trey to wipe internal sd anyway its not required...if you want the rezounds proper wipe method i can tell you...keep in mind the dinc is a whole different phone using a whole different motherboard....hence the differences....3.) once you have the proper version ill tell you how to get rid of mount issues

OK, I installed 2.6.3.0 and that is running. Still have mount issues but I am guessing that is normal at this point? I didn't try to wipe the internal SD per say, I was trying to wipe the cache and system to do a reinstall after the battery died and I was stuck at the white HTC boot screen.
Basically I am a noob and was just trying anything/everything to get it booting again. I found my old DINC now and am running that for now so I have some more time to work on it. On a side note, CM7.2 GB is still awesome.

so wait you are staying on ice cream sandwhich or lower? ok steps on 2.6.3.0 to get internal back is first go to wipe>advinced wipe and tick internal sd only...then swipe to wipe...youll get an error and thats ok....do the same method again except this time you'll notice it says emmc instead of internal sd....now go to mount option from main screen..then make sure only internal sd is checked and right below all options make sure it says Storage: Internal SDcard (size in mb) if it still says micro sd just tap on that area to change it....tap mount usb and plug into pc...reformat in windows using administrative tools in control panel or if it shows in my computer do it that way.....if you are staying on ICS or lower STAY WITH AMON RA ONLY...twrp and cwm is meant for jb and higher on the rezound....if the above method doesnt work...install amon ra and moun usb that way....you will have to fastboot install the recoveries obviously

I have not decided what ROM I want to run, for now just getting it booting on the rooted OEM rom is fine.
I tried that method and it did not work. It does say unable to mount /emmc, but it also comes up with unable to mount just about everything else. Nothing shows as mounted under mount from the main menu (I have my SD card removed for now) and when I tap Internal SDcard to mount it I get unable to mount /emmc in the console.
I tried AmonRA first, flashing through fastboot usb, and it did not work for me. When I would select recovery from HBOOT the phone would go to the white HTC screen then the screen shuts off but recovery never comes up. The phone just got hot and would not respond to power button so I pulled the battery.

So, if I am on BadBoyz 3.2 currently, and am S-on, my path forward would be:
Restore my stock, unmodified backup
Lock bootloader
Run/flash RUU
Unlock bootloader
Am I missing anything?

Well, I'll be damned!
I should have any important local data backed up at this point, so it's probably better to just nuke the thing and start with a fully clean install.
So, just windows drivers, run RUU, boom fully stock Nougat build and FW, still unlocked, ready for TWRP and a rooted ROM? That easy? No April Fools?? :cyclops:
:edit:
I may fire this off at work, so I haven't installed HTC drivers on this computer yet. Just plugging the phone in, I see no unknown devices in device manager. I see "0PGA2" in portable devices, and also ADB interface in USB devices. ADB Devices returns:
List of devices attached
HT54LSV05110 offline
Still smart to install HTC drivers? Anything newer than 4.2.0?

Thanks for that link. The BMP driver installed,, but the HTC Driver 4.8.0.002 file doesn't do anything. I get a quick "thinking" cursor, then nothing... hmmm.
What's the SD card method? Haven't tried that, but have a big empty card in the phone.

That would be an issue with S-on though, right? I was hoping that the RUU.exe would take care of it all in one shot. Or is firmware flashing first only needed with the SD card method?

I'm not sure...but u can still flash the signed firmware when s-on
I am wanting to run the RUU exe, but am hesitant because ADB doesn't seem to be working properly.
I have tried a few versions of ADB.exe, older ones show the device as "offline", newer ones say "unauthorized".
I've tried every troubleshooting step I can think of, forcing install of latest Google drivers (code 10 driver can't start in device manager), restarting the computer and phone multiple times, toggling USB debugging, manually pushing the adbkey.pub file to data\misc\adb\adb_keys\, toggling the USB connection to "charging" mode, etc.
Nothing seems to work. Best I can tell, the phone should prompt me for an RSA authorization. Any ideas? Does it matter for RUU exe?

I was really just trying to pull some files, because MTP sucks. When I couldn't get it to work, I wondered if that signified some issue in the USB connectivity which could cause an issue running the RUU exe via USB.
No worries?

Yeah, tried that one as well. Says unauthorized.
You think that presents an issue for the RUU? I got the files transferred.
:edit:
Apparently so. The RUU said it couldn't connect to the phone. (Error 170)
Phone says it is "connected as media device" / "use USB for file transfers".
Device manager shows Android USB Devices -> My HTC, and also Portable Devices -> 0PJA2. Can transfer files via MTP.
Do I need to install the whole Android SDK or something?
::edit2::
I uninstalled all HTC and Android drivers / software. Installed HTC Sync Manager (which installs the drivers needed), but when I run it, it says "no phone connected". Same situation where I can see the phone storage as an MTP device, but something seems to be missing.
Sorry for all the handholding!
I think I should just flash the signed firmware (full firmware from RUU in your thread, right?), then the RUU zip version, like you suggested before.
Hmmmm... that didn't work
I wasn't able to run the RRU.exe from my pc. My bootloader was unlocked and i was s-on.
I tried to flash the firmware from the sd card and it stayed on the htc screen. So i just went with the RRU.zip.
I ended up getting the RRU.zip from here and putting it on the sd card and renaming it as mentioned. That worked for me and i am up and running on the nougat.
