[Q] S4 "Google Editition/Nexus Experience" rom for Verizon? - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S 4

Does anyone know where we can find a recovery image for the Nexus Experience S4? Any theories as to whether this ROM will work properly on the Verizon S4?
It sounds like it will have the stability/features of touchwiz with all the goodness of AOSP...

Its just going to be the same as nexus 4 but in the galaxy s4.
As for roms there wont be any until the firmware is released and ported to the Regular S4

The nexus experience rom, which i havent found yet, wouldn't work on your phone. It is configured for gsm s4's and yours still needs to have CDMA backwards compatibility for when there is no LTE or you want to place a call. You can install an AOSP based ROM, but as far as i know, they are all still nightlies. If you do not want to sacrifice stability, then google "stock android lifehacker" and follow all their instructions to make your rom more like stock (sorry i cant add links just yet).

My advice for a google experience on your S4 is quite simple.
1. Install custom launcher like Nova or Apex
2. Download and Install an AOSP or Nexus 4 style theme.
3. Done.
Then all that is needed is for you to remove all the bloatware apps and your good to go.

nvm, I just looked at the post CM10.1 and it looks like invisiblek managed to fix all of the known bugs/issues with the rom...
maybe they used Google Edition sources to do this? I'm not really sure, but it looks awesome!

Stock Jelly Bean without Touchwiz

I know that there are new leaks coming out every day (some real, some not).
But I need a ROM that is Jelly Bean but without the Touchwiz.
I know there is SuperNexus but that has Memory Leaks.
Anyone know of one? Please no time wasters..
I'm gonna be honest with you.
Jelly Bean without touchwiz sounds like you wanna look in the AOSP direction. However, there's no AOSP Jellybean ROM today that hasn't got memory leaks.
I'm not sure, though, if someone has taken a samsung base ROM and taken out all touxhwiz related to replace with AOSP counterparts.
Use a JB leak and holo launcher HD, looses touchwiz and you get stock JB

Can you elaborate a little further? Would this be the closest to a pure Nexus Jellybean as we can get? Very interesting...

He isn't wrong for wanting a non TW rom. Some people dislike TW. I bought the GS3 but hate TW am I wrong for that? But I am surprised I actually like some of the TW features on the GS3 so lately I have been running TW but themed out as much as possibly as AOSP.
But OP as of right now there are no AOSP roms (JB without TW) that do not have a memory leak. Chances are the memory leak will be there until JB kernel sources are released.
If you want jelly bean without whole touchwiz framework, flash some rom based on aosp or cm19, but if you want stock samsung jb rom without touchwiz launcher, just download some 3rd party launcher via play store, i recommend nova or apex. You can't delete whole touchwiz framework but launcher is replaceable.

Holo launcher hd is a third-party launcher based on AOSP JB it looks exactly the same as it, third-party launchers are the only way if you want stock, the other alternate is to flash an AOSP or CM10 Rom.

Yup.
Use a third party launcher like Holo Launcher.
For locker use Holo Locker.
Optionally Root your SIII. And Delete some .apk in system \app.
Lots of replacements there.
Lemme save you the trouble. And get you some suggestions:
AllShare Play - Who wants it? B|
Calculator - Get one like Easy Calculator. Though the stock calculator is pretty nice.
Camera - I'd recommend Camera Zoom FX. but it's paid. stock camera aint bad either.
Clock - A simple deskclock could do. Try "Desk Clock". Or else Stock Clock. " " ".
Contacts, Phone - Can't do anything bout these. except mod on own.
Gallery - Well. It's fine but you can use ICS Gallery by Mobylynx. Pretty fast and elegant
Internet - I hate the stock browser. Get Chrome or ICS Browser +
Messaging - Get ICS Messaging, though i'm not sure if it supports Direct Call.
My Files - Get ES File Explorer. It's the best file manager to drag and drop files.
S Memo, S Planner - Well, they aren't bad. But you can even try out Color Note for S Memo. And for S Planner try Taskos To do list.
S Voice - I don't like S voice at all. Get Speaktoit Assistant. Best voice assistant ever.
Samsung Apps. - Keep this app. Gives free games sometimes.
Video Player - Well. Just keep it. It isn't that bad. Or else try mx video player. It's even good.
Voice Recorder - Stock one is nice. You can try 3rd party Easy Voice Recorder.
Well. That's it.
Can't do anything about the other stuff. Because that's the framework.
I'd recommend trying out a theme, if you want to get rid of that too.
I spent quite some time trying to find the best app in all those areas. So kindly just press the thanks button if i helped you.

Why have you flashed a custom rom, when all you needed was another launcher?
Wait for vertumus to add support for JB in his jelly bean domination theme
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1730397
Use apex/nova launcher with it and this is the closest you can get to stock jelly bean with a samsung ROM.

Any way to get Samsung Galaxy Note lockscreen on a custom Rom?

Im running AOKP M6 and I want to know if I can get the stock lockscreen that comes with the galaxy note. Like the lockscreen thats on the S3. Is there a apk or something?
Not easily. That lock screen is a part of touchwiz, so it would take massive coding work to get it to work on aosp based ROMs, something likely not to happen.

Contrary to the previous reply, it should work just fine.
Here's where to download it (thanks to Black Star): http://beta.androidfilehost.com/?fid=9390077933525140988

My bad if that works...usually touchwiz elements are a no-go on aosp ROMs.
Edit: I'm not on my Note so I can't try that zip, but it likely will still only work on touchwiz based ROMs, as black star is touchwiz based not aosp based. You can still try but don't get your hopes up. Might be a good idea to make a nandroid in case of a trip to bootloop city. If it does work, great, if not, you're gonna want a backup.

[MOD] Awesome Framework Animations [DEODEX/ODEX][N7 PORT]

I also own a Nexus 7, and I recently flashed a ROM (see link below if you own an N7) with the coolest animations (in/out) that I've ever seen on an Android device. I was able to create a flashable zip (tested on TWRP by myself, and confirmed working on CWM by multiple users) using the VillainTheme method that successfully adds these animations to the framework on our S4's. It should also work on any other device running 4.2.2, but I have only tested it on the S4.
EDIT: Here is a demo of the animations in action. Thanks to @123hiten for the video!
If you don't like them, download the restore zip below to restore your framework to its original state immediately prior to flashing this mod.
Installation Instructions
* Download the zip file: Penguin ROM N7 Animations Port
* Flash with TWRP
* Reboot
* Enjoy your new window animations!
Uninstall/Restore Instructions
* Download the framework restore zip file.
* Flash with TWRP
* Reboot
* You should now be back to your original framework that you had (any prior mods/edits included) prior to flashing the animations mod.
NOTE: I am not a developer, and in no way do I take credit for the animations themselves...I also obtained permission from the original ROM dev before sharing. See "Credits" below for links to the original developers' work that made this possible.

It should work on any device, although I haven't been able to test it on any Android version lower than 4.2.2. I didn't tweak anything in the animations themselves when I pulled them from the N7 framework, so the fact that it's working on TouchWiz at all should be a good indicator of its universal compatibility
And honestly I'm not even 100% sure that it HAS to be 4.2.2 (not sure if source has been released yet for the S3?)...as I said, I have no way of testing it on any lower versions so I didn't want to attest to it working on anything else. Worst case scenario and she bootloops, just flash the framework restore zip in the OP and she'll be right as rain :good:

Loving the animations, working on Rogers S4
Thanks for sharing this. I was a little bored with touchjiz launcher so I tried the cloned Windows launcher from the market and it blends really well. :good: . Really mimics like a Nokia lumia. ..

Good question, but nope it shouldn't make a difference. In fact, I flashed the exact same zip on PA 3.6 on my N7, and it worked perfectly
And I'm with you on TouchWiz man, it's amazing how far the amazing devs on here have taken it - it's gotten to the point that pretty much every aesthetic reason for me wanting to stick with AOSP on my old Note has now been implemented on TouchWiz - so I run nothing but that now on my S4.

Help finding suitable Rom

I'm looking for a Rom that has a stock android look and feel, like the stock status bar and stock look for settings, while still maintaining a great camera and gallery app, preferably the touchwiz ones. The air gestures are nice to but not absolutely necessary. A stock android like lock screen is also a must.
Any help is appreciated

When you say Stock Android look and feel do you mean AOSP?
Hyperdrive has a lot of options for pretty much every apsect of the rom
Eclipse S4 TW Edition is basically a TW rom with the look and feel of AOSP. Those are the two best in my opinion. If you're really trying to get down to nearly pure AOSP programs and stuff you can check out Andybone's Barebones Rom too. It just depends on how AOSP like you wanna go.

My ROM doesn't have anything AOSP
An AOSP theme is coming thanks to nito for giving me the permission to use his work.
Tried your Rom, was great but I didn't like how the Rom settings say there is an aosp lock screen but nothing happens when I toggle it. Also you need to add a default music player, be it Samsung's or play music. Also hated how it doesn't restore all apps, had to manually do that.

Lol. Wasn't necessarily talking about theming but more about the removal of more things that some people consider bloatware (all the extra Samsung cool guy features) but after relooking I think I was thinking of someone else's ROM. Yours is one of the first ME7 based roms. My bad Andy.

If you are talking about my ROM..
Google auto restores your apps,...
Not ROM related.
also there is NOTHING wrong with the AOSP lock screen,
and Samsung Music is found in Aroma, choose hub..
I suggest doing a FULL CLEAN install, and NOT installing anything outside my thread.
I can only assume you flashed an android.policy.jar and that broke the AOSP lock screen. User Error.
Also I don't include ANY app you can download from the play store.. why would I?
waste of space.
Everything you hate about my ROM can all be solved by fixing your user errors, and a little research.

You can use Echoe ROM which has aroma options for the S5 launcher, S5 themed notification toggles, and S5 settings app. You can also use the Project Chaos ROM in the international section, which has a full S5 theme, but if you're on Safestrap I'm not sure if Jkruse has a made a patch yet for SS users to flash 4.4 TW international ROM's. Obviously you'll need to be on 4.4 to run Echoe as well.
