As title, one is Docomo version, and the other is the Generic version.
I'm going to have an SO-03E. What will happen if I flash a SGP311 version firmware on my SO-03E via flashtool?
Edit: I'm asking for SGP312, not SGP311.
Thanks for answering my noob question. That's why I am called NoobTW.
From my Xperia V via xda premium
Replying from a SO-03E, mate. If I'm not wrong, the SGP311 is a WiFi only, 16GB model. I understand debranding SO-03E is possible with SGP312 firmware, but I doubt the wifi only SGP311 firmware will work properly. Mind you that since the SO-03E is the only celluar model with 32GB of internal memory, flashing SGP312 FW halves youe available space.
SO-03E, being a Japanese model, also appears to have tighter QC than the international models. Its firmware is also, of course, different and it contains DoCoMo apps preinstalled. A fullmsize calculator , clock app and notes are also included, I believe the international one has no full calc app. SO-03E also does not have STAMINA mode, instead it only has a skinned version of standard Android power saving. There is one key hardware difference; a pullout 1Seg antenna is incouded in the top left corner by the earphone flap.
I can confirm the SGP311 is the WiFi only 16gb model

32GB Wifi only model is SGP312 but if i were you I would go for 16GB version and 64GB Micro SD card. You will have enough space for movies and stuff and it will be cheaper to buy. I did that and I'm quite happy with my choice.

I've ordered an SO-03E. And sorry for my wrong expression. What I wanted to ask is what's the difference between SO-03E and SGP312, not SGP311.
My SO-03E will arrive on ... around 7/7, I think.
From my Xperia V via xda premium
The other advantage of the SO-03E is that it accepts 64GB MicroSDXC with exFAT (mine automatically formated a MicroSDXC in exFAT) - if I'm not wrong, the other 32GB WiFi models do not.

thats the same thing i have as well, i did originally want 32gb internal storage but when i heard the 16gb version supported 64gb micro sd cards i thought to myself that will be more than enough for me since i watch a lot of anime, tv or movies and mine also formatted the microsd to exFat.

I also can't wait to see my XTZ! Hope there will be STAMINA mode for SO-03E's 4.2.2.

Personally I find the white color more flattering for the XTZ (another advantage of SO-03E, since 16GB only comes in black). Coupled with the tablet's sparse and featureless design it makes it very clean and classy.

But btw, it seems there are more people bought the black one than the white one.
Hi guys,
I have DoCoMo LTE 32GB and flashed with SGP321 which debranded and has ofcourse stamina mode.
Cant me happiernnow :fingers-crossed:
There is a post about resizing the partition once you flash as it will make your 32GB into 16GB but look for that thread and it tells you how to flash without loosing your partitio.
Also there is a hardware difference. Im in Australia and I only get 3G not 4G as its band is different
Enjoy
I forgot to mention SO-03Ealso has a skinnable japanese XPERIA kayboard called POBox touch,, and the AOSP Browser.

Ok, Please let me in on your secret...
I have a Sony XTZ (Jap Docomo version SO-03E) with stock FW .269
I have rooted, been given superuser access, and am able to use the loaded Clockworkmod.
In the service code menu I still see that bootloader unlock = no
What is the next step towards installing a custom firmware (Such as from the SP321)? The fastboot flash technique still doesn't allow access to input the unlock code from Sony. Cant seem to find a rom that will successfully flash to the device using CWM. When I try to use Clockwork mod to flash a CM10.1 FW for an SP321 device, it give me an error saying that the model number is wrong!! I did root this, so why is CWM holding me up?
I have an FTF file for a stock SP321 device (I think), but not sure how to flash that type of file.
Perhaps this is a noob question and I am not experienced enough with the android superuser app or CWM, but if I am having trouble, odds are many other are too.
Many thanks to any who can help,

Hey,
if you have the SPG321 FTF downloaded from XDA then all you need to do is flash using flashtools

have a read of the above.
You will be set to go. The answers you seek are on the 2nd page.

Worked like a charm.
All I needed was the tip on using the flashtool. The referenced thread did however also enable me to keep my 32gb partition size and installed apps.
Only downside to the SP321 Rom: it changes the 4g baseband, but gives more options for the 3g baseband internationally. A fair trade to drop the Docomo crap I would say. I think there may be a way to not change the baseband during flashing (one of the options in flash tool), but I didn't want to press my luck on the first try. However, with FTF files from both regions (and knowledge of the flashtool), it seems like a person could flash basebands at will depending on the region of interest. see:http://www.worldtimezone.com/4g.html
Oh yeah, and now the useless 1Seg tuner on the Jap model is slightly more useless (no support for it).
Many thanks,
+1

I think it is UK, Europe for sure. Unbranded, too.
I actually flashed a C6802 Firmware on my C6833 which took away LTE, but left everything else in tact.
Unfortunately from what I have read the C6802 simply lacks the LTE chip on the SOC so actually there is no way to get LTE.
But feel free to try. If all fails you can still always flash back.

I am battling a different problem at the moment, so cannot try today.
I hope someone has the time to try it out, since from what I understand, C6802 does indeed have same SoC as C6833, which is SD800 MSM8974
There were discussions that 'maybe' the antenna could be different, but my gut feeling says it is the same.

Unbranded does not mean no bloatware. It just means, that it is not a carrier branded version like vodafone or t-mobile, o2 or whatever with their special software installed.
What you want is a vanilla android version for the Xperia Z ultra.
Look in the development forums. Maybe someone is working on this.
With root access you can also delete unwanted apps, though in the newer android versions, you can also disable unwanted apps what essentially freezes them.
lol i don't mean bloatware in that way i am fine with sonys UI its just o2 version has o2 bootup and loadsa of o2 software pre installed and i would like to flash it to the international unbranded carrier free
if this what i am looking for?

yes. All Sony goodness without carrier bloat.
This one is for ya
They are both about the same price, so which is the more desirable/better version ?
Lets throw in a poll while we're at it..............
This article basically says that text, icon, and font size (which are very important factors to me) are larger on the Google Play edition, but the Sony version has better software optimization for this device.
http://www.theverge.com/2013/12/20/5229978/sony-xperia-z-ultra-z-ultra-google-play-edition-review
Which one runs graphics intensive games more smoothly ?
Tough call - totally depends on your personal preference. I'd go with the Sony version as it's almost as clean as the stock android and I actually like their walkman, album app (& album widget) better than the stock versions.
Sony version. You can flash the GPe ROM on the Sony version, but you can't flash a Sony ROM on the GPe version (yet). The stock Sony ROM is very good.

Sony sell both the c6806 and c6833 LTE versions, the GPe only comes in the c6806 flavour
The GPe will get the update to 4.4.3 well before Sony release it for their own phones, but once released for the GPe it should only be a day or two before it's ported to the Sony hardware - as long as there isn't too big a change to the kernel.

Just read the guides, all the info you need is there, it can just be a bit daunting at first. Those instructions are minimalistic and are a reference so you can see the steps needed, there is of course more to it than that but you can see what you need to look into

I don't understand why someone wouod buy the 16gb version anyway when loads of the space is already used up by the os before you start putting apps on. Surely the extra cash is worth double the storage after paying so much for it in the first place!

N that itself suggests things are really close to reality
N that it will be available soon

Strange. Am in India, on a locally bought XZU. But not seeing the update in Sony PC Companion.
Hoping someone uploads a FTF though.
Also, will changing the build.prop to some other region trigger the update?

1275-9426 (apparently) will at least trigger ota on locked bootloaders.. (then towelroot I guess..)

So at the moment no love for unlocked ones?

Sry, I was a little misleading.. There is never any love for unlocked ones when it comes to ota updating lol ~ so I agree, ftf required
I am considering relocking it just to get this update

Changed the CDA to 1275-9426 (Italy), but that did not lead to an update. Maybe it is currently available only for 6833 devices? Wondering what will happen if I replace all instances of C6802 to C6833 in the build.prop...

Yes, that will be the sanest thing to do.
Well, I did go ahead and change all instances of C6802 to C6833 in build.prop. Saved the file, and rebooted.
The good news - the phone boots up and works just fine.
The bad news - the phone still shows up as C6802 in PC Companion, and does not trigger any update to 4.4.4.
Am not sure where exactly it is picking up the model number from.
I locked bootloader and updated without any problem.

What does it say if you go in model number with the string *#*#7378423#*#* ?

Does it bring VoLTE support?
Webpage in my region has also been changed, but update is still nowhere to be seen. Update checker gives about 9 regions that have the 108 available. I have 1275-7448 (Custom BAL) so - still waiting.
BTW, I went through the settings and it appears that nothing is changed...

EDIT: I found something, but it's really not that important right now. I found out that clicking into the theme you want to apply it actually shows what the theme is going to change once applied. Next step would be to let us change every single aspect to mix and match several themes...

I have Flashed I4213 Android 10 rom into my I4293 device and this what happened.
Many of you may know that the fact Sony recently released Android 10 official firmware (53.1.A.2.2) for both Xperia 10 and 10 plus. but not all of the devices. I've been using Xperia 10 Plus I4293 Hong Kong variant for few months now. Even though official firmware released my device still haven't got the new update. Last night I've done a little bit experiment. I've downloaded 53.1.A.2.2 (Customized South Africa) firmware from XperiFirm and then done few changes inside the firmware folder. then using Androxyde flashtool created a new bundle for my Xperia 10 Plus I4293. I've renamed it Customized AU - 53.1.A.2.2. To this point I had no idea what's gonna happen next. But I still wanted to flashed it to my device and try it out. And guess what, it's actually worked. As I said before I've used South African firmware for my device. But after I put my sim card it's automatically detected as Australia. Surprisingly there's no country lock in that firmware. But in settings phone model shown as I4213 instead of I4293. Because after I flashed I4213 firmware into my device it's automatically converted it's model number. But as I know I4213 is the 4GB ram variant of the Xperia 10 plus. But in android system it's detect the 6GB ram. And the great thing is all the original Sony apps seems working perfectly, including Album, Camera pretty much everything.
And there was a common screen freeze or non responsive bug in these devices before. And now it's all gone. From my experience so far touch screen and touch responsive much better than before. Even the finger print sensor. seems like they actually fixed the previous bug with this update. I think that's a huge improvement for all these devices. I really want to flash actual Hong Kong version of the firmware to my device. but after couple weeks releasing the firmware for only for few regions, Sony still failing to provide the update for all the models of the same device.

[update:25/05/20 Actually the screen freeze issue still not completely gone. I'm still experiencing some of those issues as before as well as occupational ghost touches. But it's a really few amount compared to Android 9. I have no idea what causes that problem. I've even flashed LineageOS before. And yet problem arrived after few days.]
How to do it:
1. Download the I4213 - 53.1.A.2.2 firmware using the Flashtool by Androxye.
2. And also, add this flash script into the firmware folder before you create the bundle.
3. And then close the XperiFirm and click tools-->bundles-->create.
4. On that window, select the downloaded firmware folder, then select the device model you wanted to flash. So you need to select Xperia 10 (I4293) not I4213. [even though you've downloaded I4293 firmware you need to select I4293. Because we're flashing a I4293 device.]
5. On the branding and version tabs just type anything you want. And then select all the firmware files in folder list and click [->] button to add all those files to firmware content section. And click create button. I'll take some time to create the bundle.
6. And then click flash device icon and select flashmode option. you could see your firmware file on flashmode section, under I4293 . And That's pretty much it. And then you can flash the firmware into your device.
*Please be aware the fact that, after flashing this firmware into your device. It'll automatically convert into a I4213 device. But the android software will detect your 6GB ram without any problem. even the IMEI doesn't change. everything will be fine.
** And if Sony releases the firmware for I4293, you can flash those firmware file into your device and convert back to the original model number. And for that just follow the same steps. But for that you need to download I4293 firmware and create a bundle for I4213 and flash it to your device.
***And also as always, please make some backups before doing this.

[update:07/06/20 It's about a month Sony first released their 53.1.A.2.2 firmware for Xperia 10 plus 4GB ram [I4213] version. They included March 2020 android security patch even though, now it's few months older. When you check the security settings on your device you can see it's already outdated. And the irony is I4293 model still haven't got single android 10 update yet. And their security patch already outdated. Honestly Sony has the worst update delivery system ever. But luckily in Android 10 we can install more updated play store security patch.
Someone received the official update on reddit and complained that he can not hear through the earpiece after the update to android 10,only through speaker during a call. Can you confirm that you can make and receive calls?

No. everything working for me. even ear proximity sensor works just fine. And I just found out that Sony released I4293 China version of the firmware. It's called Customized CN (53.1.A.3.8)
Hi. Me too i want to flash android 10 but still no update for my xperia 10 i4193 hk. I already flashed tw taiwan firmware as it is more updated but still no android 10 update. Im thinking of trying what you did with your 10 plus. But you said on your post you change something in the firmware? Can you confirm that? Is that something like porting the firmware from different region to your i4293? And by the just now there is an update for your device but for china region i4293. The build number is quite different 53.1.a.3.8.

I can actually provide you the firmware file I've used to flash. And yes, right now there's 53.1.A.3.8 Which is indeed Chinese market version. We can actually flash that to our device without doing any changes because model number is the same. I'm actually thinking about re-flashing 53.1.A.3.8 version into my device. But I'm still wondering what's different between 53.1.A.3.8 and 53.1.A.2.2.

You don't have to change pretty much anything. Just download the firmware using the Flashtool by Androxye. In your case I4113 South African firmware. And then click tools-->bundles-->create. On that window, select the downloaded firmware folder, then select the device model you wanted to flash. So you need to select Xperia 10 (I4193) not I4113. On the branding and version tabs just type anything you want. And then select all the firmware files in folder list and click [->] button. And finally click create button. And then you can flash the firmware into your device.
And also I've found about the 53.1.A.3.8 firmware. Just don't worry about it. It's also Android 10 without google services for china region. They using baidu network instead of google. There's no single google app in that firmware.

Yeah I just checked still nothing. Use this View attachment 53.0.zip flash script. It'll work. just extract the extract the 53.0.fsc file and copy it to your downloaded firmware file before you create a bundle. And yes, this flashing with the PC.

Yeah no worries, man. If you wanna post a thread about it on Xperia 10 section just go ahead.
Hello, I also use I4293(CDA 1318-2077)
If flash to I4213(53.1.A.2.2), what file do I need to change?

Ram Usage
Hello,there
Nicely done on flashing another rom to your phone! I've done this with newflasher (not recommended btw).
Can I ask, did you actually get to unlock 2G of Ram(like some PC Graphics cards with bios mods) or is it just written there because of the model?
Thanks!

Are you crazy? how that even possible in mobile phones? It's obviously because of the phone model. my device is I4293 HK 6GB ram version. that's why. my point is even though you've flashed different model, software recognize the full ram capacity.
