Stupidly, in order to unbrick my USB connection I flashed a stock HTC Hero ROM . Therefore my phone got unrooted plus I still have the issue were my phone is not detected by any windows (including xp) nor I can mount the SDCARD, in the notification bar I have a insert an SD CARD even when the SD CARD is already inserted.
What I acutally need to do is the following:
1)Fix the SDCARD issue, the catch here is that S-ON so I'm unable to do it from fastboot (run some commands on the phone)
2) Root the phone, which I'm currently unable to do so, since a) The sd card doesn't get mounted therefore I'm unable to run any applications from the SD CARD, b) SPL is S-ON therefore I'm unable to do it via Fastboot.
3) Fix the Phone detection issue, everytime I connect the phone via USB I get a unrecognized device, yes I tried and downloaded HTC Sync, I have installed the Android SDK and yes I also downloaded the Vista x64 drivers, all without success.
Any and all help will be more than appreciated
All,
I've tried everything and I cannot get my PC's to recognise my GS2.
It's not even constant, sometimes I connect it via USB to the PC and it comes up as unrecongised device, other times it will detect as a camera as GT-i9100 (regardless of it I select MTP)... I've reinstalled Kiers I don't know how many times and have even manually installed the drivers but still no luck.
So I gave up with that as I only want to connect to Odin to get rid of this crap software. So I downloaded the CWM root package onto my SD Card and booted into recovery, went to apply the zip and it says it cannot mount /sdcard as not such directory exists?!?! Now I don't have an external SD Card but the .zip file is located on the internal storage in /sdcard/Downloads.
I have a Mac at home that allowed a connection into Kiers first time to update to stock ICS - should I just abandon this trying to connect to Windows and try and find an alternative to Odin for Mac?
Thanks for any help at all.
Dan.
but the .zip file is located on the internal storage in /sdcard/Downloads.
NO try copy pasting update zip file on root of SD card then try....
Edit : this rooting methed you can only try on ICS vesrions
Thanks ZACQ8.
I just thought I'd try another USB cable as a last shot, and OMG it started installing the drivers Still failed to install the Mobile MTP Device but it's getting there...
You have to use the same USB port when you connect your SGSII.
I noticed that if I plugged it into another port the phone would come up as unrecognised - this was all tested on a few PCs when the phone was on GB and connecting as an external hard drive.
I haven't tested if the problem still exists with ICS, as it do 'external hard drive'.
Seems like it was the cable all along...
Phone now recognised in Odin and Device Manager.
Pile of crap.
All I wanted to do is go back to a stock rooted device with ext4 support.
I had Uruk 1.64 installed. All seemed to be working, but it was slugish on my 101 G8. So I reformated device, tried to drop in the latest AOS firmware from Archos and all I get is "Update Failed (1)". I removed the SDE, Formated Device and tried to install the firmware with the same message comming up. It automatically boots to the recovery menu now.
Is it normal to have to format the 101 with fat32 before I copy the new AOS? Whenever I "Update Firmware", it formats itself under the recovery menu then forces me to format it under Windows 7 x64 so I can copy the AOS firmware to the 101.
Any suggestions would be appreciated. (I have also removed the SD card and tried it that way as well)
Try to download the firmware again. This error is often caused by corrupted download.
Or by people that don't look for the right filename.
It really has to be "firmware_archos_android_gen8.aos" not "firmware_archos_android_gen8(1).aos" or anything else.
I already downloaded the image 3 times and renamed it proper (without the numbers)
Can't figure this one out
make sure you've downloaded firmware that matches your device, not 70b etc
I downloaded the firmware on the Archos site for "Archos 28/32/35/43/70/101 internet tablet". I have the G8 101 16gb
can you borrow an USB cable from a friend? maybe you've hit it somehow and it causes data loses. there 0.01% for it to happen. try to fit it well. out of ideas...
I will try a different computer and cable. I was able to copy files to the 101 however. I will give it a shot.
I think it has something to do with the Urukdroid installation on the MicroSD. I was not able to update the firmware; however, when I inserted the micro SD with Uruk on it, it booted back into Uruk. I have since formatted the MicroSD and now I can get nothing to work.
Tried a different computer, download and cable to no avail. Any suggestions?
Is it normal for Windows to format your 101's drive before it can mount it? It makes me do this everytime before I attempt to update the firmware.
SOLVED!!!!
Had to change the file type to "vfat" in the Format menu. I was able to then update the Firmware.
Hello, I rooted my ICOO iCou D70G2 and managed to softbrick it into a loop at the Android messages. I bought another, identical tablet, and would now like to clone the new one into the old. I would very much appreciate complete, newbie level instructions on how this can be done.
Here is what I have tried so far.
I looked for a stock ROM for this device, but can't find one. The closest out there I could locate is for a D70Pro II. I don't know if it will work, and in any case, I still can't figure out how to flash the old tablet.
The old tablet does go into recovery mode using vol up and power. I tried putting the Pro II flash on the micro sd card (tried both img and zip, separate times), but the tablet isn't seeing the micro sd card in recovery mode with the update from sd card option. It shows a folder /sdcard with some seemingly empty subfolders, but even if I take out the micro sd card it shows the same set of folders and says choose a package.
I tried using the Intel USB drivers with adb, but the device isn't recognized in recovery mode by adb. Rockchip Batch Tools 1.8 also doesn't see the device, although it seems to load the ProII img file correctly.
It would be really great to get this old tablet to work. I don't have any CWM, TWRP or any other backup software on either device at this point. The new device is new from the box and not rooted.
Hi, ive got this old bricked tablet, cant enter recovery mode, not recognized in windows when in fastboot mode, nothing working basicaly,
i want to flash it and i CAN'T, its getting frustrating after 3 days i decided to ask help here!
this is where im stuck:
i want to use Rockchip SD disk tool 1.59 to make a bootable SD card for automatic flashing.
First sd card not working, SD disk tool keeps saying loading firmware failed, ok buy a new SD card San disk 16gb
perfect it works!i managed to create a bootable flash IMG but its not flashing or doing anything when powered on with sd in it.
so i try to reflash it on the card, and it keeps giving error again now even on the new SD card : Loading firmware failed! I tried using SD card formatter to format the card, still loading firmware failed!
somebody please help me before i lose my sanity, i cant sleep because of this i want to handle it so badly.
edit:
oh and i dont think usb debugging and oem unlocking are turned on and i cant check!
EDIT 2: OK so i figured out how to fix the loading firmware failed, on the SD card formatter i had to tick the box , overwrite format! this fixed it, but the main problem still remains, the tablet wont boot and flash from the SD card.
EDIT3:
solved by flashing stock rom using fastboot in linux, or maybe Linux_Upgrade_Tool_v1.2 , i cant remember which of these worked in the end, i just know linux upgrade tool was hell to use, with chinese instructions
