Best Keyboard with Auto-Correct? - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S 4

Just rooted yesterday, stock ROM. I can't believe how much I miss auto-correct, yikes..

This is by far my favorite keyboard that I have used and I've used them all! Lol
I turned on the gestures (swipe) and turned off the sound and haptic feedback. Unlike some swipe keyboards, this one actually let's you type or swipe without screwing up if you fat thumb it because it "thinks" you're trying to swipe.
Doesn't take much to get used to, but IMO this is the best kB that I've used on my S3, Note2 and now my S4
Good luck

I think two best keyboards with auto-correct are as follows:
International Galaxy S4 Keyboard
and
Google Keyboard
I personally use the International S4 keyboard that built-in to the Hyperdrive ROM and it does a really good job without any lag.

Swift key has quite possibly the best auto correction I've ever used... And it's predictive text is eerily accurate. Almost as if it's mind reading. It also learns your typing style and language style from sms and twitter etc... The "swipe" feature (which swift key calls 'flow') is really cool because unlike with swype and Google keyboard, you don't have to lift your finger to start a new word. You can swipe to the space bar and just keep on swiping to the next word. And it works really well.
I typed this entire post (with the exception of the parentheses and punctuation) without lifting my finger once.
There is a free trial. And once it runs out auto correction disables, but you can still use the keyboard for free... I've tried a whole lot of keyboards and this is by far the best and worth the couple of bucks.
It's rare for an app/developer to truly impress me and provide an app I feel is worth paying money for, deserve support, are essential for all of my devices and are used daily; apps like nova launcher, titanium backup, sliding messaging, Tapatalk, poweramp and tablet talk... To me, swift key is one of those essential apps.

Have to agree with SwiftKey it is pretty good! I love mine and pretty fast predictions!

Anyone know a keyboard similar to the stock one with the # row up top. Love that feature but want to use it on an AOSP ROM

I really like Swype. He's a good mix of swiping and tapping

+1 for Swiftkey. It learns what/how you normally type to people. Example, It knows full sentences of stuff I say to my gf often to the point that all I have to do is keep hitting the space bar to type a full sentence.

Like a few others have already said, SwiftKey is probably the best keyboard available.

I just signed up to be a beta tester and although it took some time for me to get used to it since its a whole new typing experience, now that i've gotten used to it, i'm flying on this keyboard. Best auto-cprrect in my opinion. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.syntellia.fleksy.kb

Yup. Swiftkey is overrated IMO, but that's the best thing about droids. Everyone can use what they want/like/use to. Like I mentioned before, I've tried em all. Including swift and honestly I still like Kii better than Gingerbread kB, jellybean kB, Swiftkey, ICS kB, TW kB etc...
But yet again, to each their own...
(Kii with gesture enabled and no sound or vibrate) and it too learns your words and sentences. So much so, that there have been times where it knows my next word and I've typed almost a whole sentence just by hitting the next word it predicted

I'll have to check this one out too, but I just HAD to point out the irony about you saying how good the autocorrect is and totally borked the word "correct". Lol
Sent from my SCH-I545 using xda premium

im not a swiper.. so THUMB KEYBOARD rules for me.

I'm also one who prefers Kii over swiftkey. I like the layout better. One thing that drives me nuts in swiftkey is the .com button. It shortens the space bar and since I frequently search from the address bar I end up hitting it a lot and inserting a .com in my search.

I was a big supporter of Swiftkey, mainly for the auto correct funtion when typing. I have to say though that if you're addicted to swyping your words as opposed to typing, Google Keyboard is way better at getting it on the first go round. It's great if you need to reply to something, and you need your eyes elsewhere (not encouraging you to do so though )
Anyways, In order of opinion
Google Keyboard
Swiftkey 4
Swype

I'm using the Google Keyboard right now on my S4. I wish the Samsung keyboard worked better with autocorrect, but even with the international version with AC on, it lags behind my typing

SwiftKey Flow
Rooted S4

Just tried the Google kB and gave it a fair run to win me over and I'm still Kii all the way!

Best & "Lightest" Keyboard?

Well, Swiftkey X has lost its appeal to me.
What are some of the best keyboards out there that, as odd a request as it might seem, are also light on system resources?
I just like a snappy keyboard that doesn't take two seconds to pop up or disappear, and doesn't 'stumble' when typing (no input for a sec, then all of a sudden puts in your last 3 strokes).
I don't need much in terms of theming, but the one thing I found with Swiftkey that I REALLY fell in love with was the ability to change the long key press time threshold...for example, I decreased it from like 500ms to 250ms...it makes typing for me a whole lot faster. Are there any other keyboards with that?
Thanks for your input fellas.
My swipe pops up right away. However, I HATE typing passwords or usernames with it. I know that doesn't really help, as I cna't find any keyboards I like... I can't stand swiftkey, especially with the browser, as that .com is ALWAYS in the way when I try to search. For general use, I like the stock keyboard actually... its less laggy than the froyo one was, but it still is a bit laggy...
i used for a while go keyboard, but now i'm using thumb keyboard 4 and it's highly customizable, fast no lags, perfect for my big fingers

I've been eyeing that one and think I'll check out the free demo/trial they have.
Unfortunately, Mgamerz, I kinda don't like any swype keyboards. I actually tried going back to it for a while when Swiftkey started fading and still couldn't get into it.
Thanks for the input guys.
I'm using thumb keyboard and its pretty good. Really like the portrait layout, making it soeasy to type.
It would be much better if it let me customize every single keys so I can make my own layout or keys that I use often.

Well I was mistaken, there is no demo.
But you like it? Never ran into any lag? I see a review here and there that says it lags but it was literally only like 2, and one of them was using the LG optimus (the little crappy one T-mobile has, I think)
@knjigo: You're right...I don't like swyping though. Plus, I'm actually referring not to the length of the vibration feedback, but to how long it takes for, say, when I press a letter at the top with a number mapped "under" it for the long keypress, I could actually change how long I had to wait while pressing the letter to get the number to pop up.
I like it. Using it since alien rom and now I'm using cm7. I have experienced NO lag at all on this beast.

Swype Tablet Beta using the SPen to swype is the best keyboard combo I have found for the Note. Easily the fastest and most accurate way to enter text that I have found...I think I type faster on my phone than I do on my laptop. Haha. That being said, I'm terrible at typing on a laptop/computer keyboard...never learne to use all of my fingers so I just pick at the keyboard with two fingers. Glad my career won't require fast typing.
As to the OP, I definitely run into that problem with some keyboards. Try the Swiftkey 3 Beta, you don't need to use the spacebar unless you're typing a word not in the keyboards dictionary, and it works really well; I think it's awesome how it automatically detects words and puts in spaces for you. Plus, it has some awesome themes to match ICS.

I like using the SPen, and the regular Swype buttons seem too large. Even with fat fingers I have no problems with the smaller buttons. Also, the tablet version had a tab key which is really useful for taking notes in class.

Favorite Keyboard?

Just wondering what the MoPho's and Mo'lec's (?) are using for a keyboard.
I got Thumb Keyboard on Amazon's FAD promotion, and I was using it, but it's a little too liberal with its space bar, Delete/L, and Shift/A, and its word prediction doesn't take this into account. Say you want to type "Facebook", it comes up "afacebook" because it registers Shift as A, and "Facebook" isn't a word suggestion. And you can be tapping a bunch of Deletes, and all of a sudden it starts inserting L's. Or spaces for N's. Not sure what to do about that.
I gave Swype another chance, and I like it, but the options are kinda sparse. I tried to install the Swype beta, and it said it was not available for devices with Swype preinstalled. Figured I could fix that, went into Titanium, backed it up, and deleted it... Swype Beta then downloaded the latest Swype. It looks better, not sure if they improved it.
It seems like there are some things Swype doesn't like to do. The long-press delay for symbols is too long, and brand names are tricky. It let me Swype AirDroid, maybe because that app is installed and it pulls from that, or it's just common enough to be in Swype's dictionary. I don't know.
I never liked the swype gimmick, but I'm giving it another chance. I find that it's great for generic messages, stuff that's in the dictionary. It's when you get to stuff it doesn't know that you spend just as much effort as tapping.
So... what are you guys using, and why do you prefer it?
I was using perfect keyboard but I had the same problem with L and delete. Also when I hit the space bar a lot of times it'd take me to the home screen. That gets old quick when you've got a whole text written out and lose it. So don't use perfect keyboard.
I've tried a few other keyboards but right now I'm using the keyboard that comes with CNA and I'm good with it. Flash CNA and give it and the keyboard a try or ask someone what keyboard it is. I will not use swype again. I even tried a hybrid swype/normal and it still sucked.
Swift Key is pretty good when it comes to prediction...currently using swype though...haven't found one I'm completely happy with.

I can't find anything I like more than Smart Keyboard Pro. I install the English dictionary, turn the long press delay way down, increase key height, turn off haptic feedback, switch it to the HTC skin, and turn off dynamic key resizing. The only issue I have has been in every ICS based rom, the keyboard will freeze periodically and I'll just have to hit back and select the text box again to resume typing. It hasn't been enough of an annoyance yo make me switch.

Just for grins I installed the new Swype beta and it is a huge jump over what comes stock on the phone. I just wish it was easier to update.

Liking it mostly. I just don't like that I can't click on a word and have it bring up other words you might have wanted, ala what swype does. I find myself having to change quite a few words.
Anyone get the flow without a space for a sentence to work? I tried it on a pretty basic sentence and it just double vibrated at me and did nothing.

Its still in beta and there is a feedback link within the settings of the app im sure they are open to suggestions!
and im definitely and advocate for swype but i find the individual key entry which is so necessary to be far to clunky and innacurate where as this finds a happy medium that im very satisfied with. also folks remember this is beta so they will be releasing a polished version sooner or later. if you have complaints voice them from within the apps feedback section
I find the prediction on Flow to be worse than Swype, but it would be servicable if not for not showing multiple predictions when typing on a word. If you make a mistake it takes a while to correct it, but that's to be expected with a beta. It has potential working off of SwiftKey 3's great prediction software.

Keyboard alternatives? Help please

Mainly wondering if there is a way to get the samsung board on aosp roms. I really like having the #'s row, ability to swipe, and have one handed option all in one board. I honestly like the aosp board better in terms of word prediction and typing accuracy but reaching that # button in the bottom left-hand corner is a pain for me. Is it possible? Have tried and purchased probably every keyboard out there over the last two years. My favorite so far is ironically the Google Keyboard. Super simple and works good. Does everything I need it to and does it well.
Only ironic because its free and still better than most paid keyboards. Although no numbers row is slightly disappointing I feel like it is something we will see down the road.

Why is it 85MB when the original is 11?

I have to agree with the above poster. Kii Keyboard is my favorite. I use it on most of my devices, including my Note II. It has all the features of the Samsung Keyboard and many many more, including themes, recolors, and even the ability to take the appearance of other popular keyboards. I love having the ability to customize it to fit my needs for the day or task. Link below to get it from the Play Store.

It always has to a degree. It doesn't come straight out and give that option, it like most things takes a bit of tweaking. Since I have quite large hands, it never has been an issue for me so I didn't both writing down the exact settings I used to achieve it, but under keyboard layout, you would pick the keyboard layout you want, then go further down and mess with either the left or right padding options based on where you want it, and that quickly and easily creates a one-handed keyboard that you can fully adjust the sizing of as you desire by just tweaking those settings.

I've never seen it cause that massive of a keep in file size, I mean we're taking about a 75MB difference not a 1MB difference.
