The phone worked perfectly on sense Rom. I flashed an aosp Rom and then the problem began. The Mic does not work at all, not for Google voice, calls, or even voice recorder. I flashed back to sense roms and still the problem persists.
However, when I tap the phone while voice recording, the phone picks it up, as well as background noise. Is there any suggestions? Ideas? Or possible fixes?

Thanks everyone in the Evo community for all your help. I think I figured out the issue and will put down my thoughts in cases anyone else encouters this problem. As it turns out, the headphones that I use are the premium kind, so the headphone jack is a little bigger and longer than most. The reason this keeps happening is because the headphone and phone are not compatible. There might be a possible that the hardware issue comes from aosp roms but I stand strong in this belief.
Thanks again

I have that same issue with Internet calling, not just WiFi calling with the Amaze (which I haven't tried yet). I use an inexpensive VOIP system at home called NetTalk. It plugs directly into your router which avoids the necessity of having a computer turned on in order to work. I'm generally pleased with it, but I experience frequent delays in audio between home and anyone else - whether they are on a traditional land line, cell phone, or another VOIP. It's like listening to the audio track from conversations with the space shuttle. I honestly don't know whether it's an issue with Internet traffic/speed or the system itself, but it does get annoying. However, at $30 a year and considering how infrequently we use a "land line", I put up with it.
Yes I have the same problem, I was told it was a rom issue.

Its driving me nuts.... any Rome that have wifi working?
Sent from my Sensation 4g running amazingly awesome cm7
Couldnt find any fix in the related threads. I have an EVO LTE running Viper Rom. running flawless except annoying cracle/pop from music playback on a bluetooth speaker. talking on a bluetooth headset is fine. HTC suggested some things but nothing worked. My sons bone stock EVO LTE works fine on the same devices. Rom is so awesome I can live with this issue if there is no fix. I can use a cord. Thnak you for any replies.

Are you using a separate kernel?

No known BT issues with noise etc., like the other poster added, sounds like possible kernel issues?

Just an update on my b/t situation. it is 100% crystal clear....Used kernal tuner turn up the minimum frequency from the minimum 384 to around 500 or more. Just set a profile for when i plan on using b/t that will use the higher frequencies. Not sure why this fixes it, but love it now.
Thanks

Bluetooth transmit from vehicle = snap, crackle, pop
HTC One (m7) loaded with ViperOne 5.8.0 Pro. Via bluetooth, I can place calls but the caller can't hear me, though I can hear them. Music plays nicely, but not being able to transmit is a problem. Any solutions? I'm new to this whole deal, so I've given all I know to provide.
Thanks!

This is the EVO LTE forums, so you might want to visit the M7 forums. Also, make sure the microphone in your bluetooth device is working properly. Are you using the bluetooth through a car, or an actual headset/earpiece?

Thanks for the forum tip. I am quite shaky on the use of the correct forum. Anyway the problem was solved by flashing a different kernel. 3.4.10-EliteLunar when combined with ViperOne 5.8.0 on my HTC ONE works fine now. Both myself an another person were NOT able to talk though the vehicle system, hands free. Now we can. Passing along that information even though it is not EVO LTE specific...maybe it might help someone.
I recently installed BlackBean 8 for my HTC Evo 4G LTE. I used Flash Image GUI to flash the Kernel in-rom, then went to recovery, wiped everything 3 times, then installed the rom and Inverted GAPPS. Everything on the rom seems to work perfectly EXCEPT the fact that ANY sound played from the phone plays through the speaker, even when my headphones are plugged in. When I plug them in, I don't even see a headset icon. I reflashed the rom clean again and still the same thing. This doesn't seem to be a common issue, so is anyone else experiencing this or maybe know what's wrong? Help would be much appreciate. I did do a search but didn't find anything this specific.
The only thing I can think of is a hardware issue. Does the same thing happen with other ROMs?

No, it only happened when i switched to this rom. I've run MeanRom, MeanBean, Stock Root, etc. and this is the first time something like this happened. I downloaded the Wired Headset Routing app from the Play Store so I'm now able to toggle the headphone input on and off, which is way better. But I was just wondering if anyone had any input lol
OK so I've had my HOX+ for about a month having moved on from the Apple empire and for the most part I love the phone. There are a few annoying things I've noticed and after much time searching forums, contacting HTC and all that jazz haven't found a good answer yet. So I figured I'd just try asking and getting some opinions here. My disclaimer is that I'm still 100% stock and not quite ready to dive into root and custom ROMs yet
Issue #1 - that damn BT call audio issue - Has anyone found a fix for the BT issue so everyone I talk to in my car doesn't sound like they are talking with their phone in their mouth? I spent a week working with HTC on this and all I ever got was the standard "we're sorry to hear about your issue, working to resolve, blah blah blah"
Issue #2 - I've recently noticed a issue with audio pausing and the phone being slow to respond from unlock when playing music. PowerAmp seems to be the worst culprit but I've noticed this a little with Double Twist also. I've tweaked my audio settings in PA to use the "huge" buffer and highest thread priority. Turning Beats off didn't seem to help either.
Any feedback welcome, thanks.
Gonna have to root to fix Bluetooth audio issues or wait for a ota threw your service provider

For the audio issue i also do have that problem.. little minor pauses.. but quite annoying.. tried different music players but there was no difference.. I also have a bigger problem actually.. the headphones output are not equal.. one is higher than the other.. tried different headphones.. but na.. nothing has changed..

Yeah that sounds almost exactly like my problem, little minor pauses most of the time (which to me is kind of annoying) and every so often a longer pause of like 4-10 seconds. I ended up having my phone go into a sleep of death last night so I rebooted and also ended up removing the Double Twist widget I had up when I was checking out different players. Today the pause issue seemed better but still not 100% so I'm starting to suspect something (widget or otherwise) I'm running is maxing out the CPU or something.
Haven't noticed any balance issue though, what player are you using? I know in PowerAmp and I'd imagine others there is a balance control...could just be off a bit or if nothing else you might try adjusting it to compensate till you find a solution.
Stock based and aosp roms have Bluetooth fixes.
You can't fix anything yourself unless u root, otherwise wait for a carrier update that may never come.
Will also fix any slow performance issues you might be having, even more so with a custom kernel.
Never experienced issues with Bluetooth myself tho.

I am having the same audio issue. I'm using N7 player. It sucks. I thought it was just the player but then It started happening on pandora too. does this quick pause only happen on AUX? I haven't tested to see what happens with bluetooth audio streaming. Only happens/has been tested happening with AUX.
This happens on the latest viper rom for one x+ att
We should fix this!
use Zplayer

I have had same problems with music, tried Zplayer which solved the issues... my phone is on stock rom ...
Had a chance to do some heads down work and played music for the better part of 4 hours. The pause issue is still there with Double Twist, but nowhere near as bad when I was running stock. Very minor now bit still apparent. My PowerAmp trial ran out so I can't test it. Might try Player Pro even though I'm not crazy about it.

I have noticed minor pauses in music at the same spot when walking down my road towards my house. Due to it happening in roughly the same spot, I have put this down to my home WiFi connecting and/or my Vodafone Sure Signal signal booster being picked up as the primary network connection for calls etc.
I have no idea if my thoughts are correct, but is this something anyone else has tried or even thought about? My phone is currently fubar'd so I can't test it atm.
I hv tried few ROMs and concluded that its the stock kernel's processor settings on sleep mode, I installed cm 10.1 with blade kernel and changed minimum CPU frequency at bit higher level and music plays perfectly fine... I hope this could help others.

Yes, I have found that the audio pause issue seems to be related to connecting to a wifi spot. It still happens when wifi is turned off though, so although they are related, it's not the cause.
I definitely think it has to do with the clockspeed of the device when it is idling.
I notice the audio pauses when,
The screen is left on and the orientation changes
pause frequency changes depending on the player
When connecting to a wifi access point/scanning for one
Someone take this information and e-mail HTC. I was going to call them, but I don't have the time to deal with all of this stuff right now. College finals are next week.
EDIT: managed to give HTC a call. They suggested poweramp and said that they were working on a proper fix. I don't have the time to test to see if power amp solves the issue just now, but it's always good to hear other people's experiences/devices specs. So let me know your device specs and what you know about this issue!
It appears that the HTC One stock ROMs suffer from the same bluetooth audio distortion that was plaguing the N4 and other AOSP 4.1.x and up ROMs until recently.
Can someone please test some mp3 audio that is:
- Local on their device, bitrate higher than 256kbps
- streaming to a set of good speakers that can reproduce high frequencies well
Play some Led Zeppelin or jazz that has lots of cymbal work, or some vocal music, and listen for distortion on the cymbal crashes or the 's' or 'ch' sounds.
I don't believe it is just me. HTC One Sprint users are reporting the same. I just want to make sure it isn't just them and my unit or something.

I can confirm it does. Had the Nexus 4 and right now I'm using the HTC One (unlocked). Thinking of getting rid of it since my T-Zones does not work with it.

Sigh. 3 steps forward, 4 steps backwards (at least for me). That distortion is terribly grinding on the ears.
CM10.1 will save me! When it is released...
Just FYI, tested with AOSP CM10.1 ROM and the problem is gone. It's definitely a bug that exists in the stock Sense 5 ROM.
I thought I was the only one (no pun) with this issue. It's very annoying. I hope the stock version gets fixed soon.
Anyone with the recent sense updates have any improvement on this front?

I have a Sprint HTC One, but the Bluetooth problem is the only reason I keep going back to ViperROM from CM10.1. My Bluetooth (Jawbone ERA) works fine for music and other media sounds, but phone audio is completely messed up. My speech is not getting picked up at all, and the remote party sounds garbled. I also tried disabling the WiFi per your request, but that had zero effect. I went from a 5/27 nightly to 6/19, but the Bluetooth phone audio issue has remained.

I have a T-Mobile HTC One and same deal... had Dirty Unicorns installed and bluetooth music/etc worked great, but phone calls were just a fuzzy, distorted mess. And since I still use my phone for calls (and rely on a headset for work) it was unusable.
Right now I'm rocking a stock rooted ROM since I haven't found a ROM yet that works well enough to be my daily.
