Can the sense camera be installed on an aosp Rom? That's the only thing keeping me on a sense Rom right now.

Absolutely not lol...I honestly don't know it may. Be a way...but since the htc inspire 1080p recording was possible with continuous auto focus on sense roms....even aosp jellybean still can't do that...also I think in order to make full use of any htc camera...an htc sense kernel is required...ima noob tho

i believe it needs the sense framework to function at all since it uses if anything links to sense api's like its gallery for instance. If it worked it would probably have been ported over to aosp by now, or at least had a beta testing thread.

that i don't know but from what iv seen and used it is basicaly the same camera with zoe in it that doesn't work anyways with our phone. EDIT: also i just today installed the 4.3 camera and its just adds another gallery and another camera app and i love photosphere it works great here is a pick of my backyard for quality, i moved it too fast so it got kinda of confused lol.
4.3 camera apk is actually pretty solid and has 1080p video recording
If you compare quality of the AOSP camera and Sense camera even rudimentary there's no comparison on the quality.

Yes it is. I wish evo 3d users could use all its features though, but its still way better than stock.

I believe this is kernel related. ZSL and such.....Chad's next kernel should have zsl and be able to utilize the burst, panorama, and other amaze things we can't use now.

The most important feature is a zero lag shutter. When you press the button, it immediately takes the picture. Most of the blury pictures are history. There are other toys included with the app, but most don't work with the 3d.
The best part is you can load the apk (instead of flashing it) , so you can have both apps loaded at the same time.

Meanrom has the amaze camera included but the zero shutter lag doesn't work.... I guess you need a compatible kernel.
Hey guys I've tried both types of apks and I get a force close error on the app.
I am using MIUI rom with cwm 5.0 recovery.
Any ideas?
Amaze camera is not compatible with AOSP ROMS, only Sense.
Also, the Amaze camera doesnt seem to work any longer with ZSL. I know I had ZSL working on one kernel I was on but I cant remember which, and dont remember if I was on the amaze camera or the regular one. But even with Chad's latest kernel (r14) the ZSL still doesnt work in the amaze camera app.
I can report that this camera is working for me on RezRom S4.
Even the options to use the volume keys to take pics works!
I'm sure this thing may have some bugs, but I haven't found any yet (other than the preview doesn't fit the screen right), and it seems less buggy to me than the ported Sense 4 cameras.

It works fine on ViperRez; however, you do lose 720p front facing video, and the preview screen doesn't fit our whole screen size (Like mentioned above). It would be awesome if someone, dev or none dev, could get this working properly for our sense 4 ROMs.

I also noticed that attempting to capture a picture while recording saves a pure white image, and causes the video to not save properly and makes the app lag when trying to stop recording.
Long story short, don't try to capture image while recording video.

Anyone know if our awesome devs have gotten this working 100% yet? Is it included in any of the current rom's?
I wonder if Newts Endeavor 1.0.0 4.5 ROM's camera have these bugs smoothed out, I havn't flashed it yet since we are waiting for a patch to fix an issue or two.
That would be awesome. I want that camera really bad. Do you know if it's in newts Rom?

I really want Jellybean but I am reluctant to not have the sense experience I love (especially the camera) so I was wondering if there was anything for the EVO that offers both... the One X seems to have quite a few so I am hopeful that the EVO has one.

I'd think there would need to be a leak first. If there's no Rom leaked then there isn't anything to work on.

The siii camera is available for aosp roms, and pretty good
Just can't beat the sense camera software though. I hear jb and sense 4x have improved camera software. 29fps, better focus, ect

I've been meaning to ask a similar question, this seems like a good thread to bring up a discussion about what parts of Sense you miss in AOSP.
For me, definitely the camera. Beats audio is another one.
You can get the Sense clock widget in a .apk that works in other launchers.
Is there anything else?
Shortcuts, sense has a buttload of shortcuts that I can't live without. Plus the ui is great looking. Also quick settings. Sure everything is in ics and jb as well but its just not as polished.

Nah, I like and prefer the look of sense and the older weather flip clock. It'd be nice to get the updates straight from Google tho. I'm hopeful in the near future the UI from sense and others will just be a skin that we can apply to an official Google device.

Depends on how much the camera is crippled in AOSP, but I'm certainly going to try it out.
<3 AOSP but the camera software will bet the deal breaker if any.
They said that it will produce comparable images to the Sense version, but obviously stuff like Zoes won't make it over to the AOSP camera. Really interested in trying it out, particularly when it comes to the current AOSP based ROMs and how it will improve them.
I like that it'll have beats all the time.

I just wish the firmware would leak. None of my friends who work at google have access to the android stuff.
The camera issues is what's keeping me from AOSP as it is, I'm ok with losing Zoe but if it can get close to Sense's camera quality, I'll bite.

They already said that the GE One will fully utilize the ultra pixel sensors. So no worries there.

Yeah it's one of the biggest reasons I bought a One :good:
I picked the One over the S4 mainly because I find sense a lot more tolerable compared to TouchWiz though (especially with nova launcher and google keyboard) - until the GE is out.
Already dumped Sense, running CM.
Is there already any announcements if Google will make the rom available to everyone who wants to install it? Can't wait to get sense out of my phone.

There are already 3rd party apps that can use the IR port. There's one in the International HTC One app forum:

The cm10.1 camera software is pretty noisy compared to the stock htc camera software on the phone.Quality is noticeable. The audio quality was very noticeable as well. There was distortion playing songs that didn't distort using beats audio. The app that comes with cm10.1 for audio cannot get the sound close to the way it did out of the box. I switched back to an HTC sense rom. Non of the paid camera apps in google play could come close to the htc tweaked camera that came with the phone.
Hoping for better roms. I'm currently on trickdroid with htc sense 5 and android 4.2.2 but even that is limited in terms of customize ability. It's just not clean. I'm waiting for the HTC one Google edition ROM.

i see. i noticed the difference from the stock with cm10.1. i love the customizations on cm10.1 but love the camera on the stock. thanks for input.
The Sense 5 camera is very nice, unfortunately, as mentioned above and agreed by everyone here on the subforums, the picture quality with the CM 10.1 camera suffers a lot, its just not optimized for the 4 UP camera on this phone. Image quality, sharpness and ability to do special functions like panorama suffer a lot. I'm not even sure HDR does what it's supposed to do.
I'm hoping once the GE rom is made available the camera and audio functions will be improved, even if it means switching to a different rom. I'd rather not as I like the simplicity of CM.

okay, just to double check again. you saying i can flash ROMs from Tmobile, International, and At&t? and as flash as normal? do i have to configure any APN or anything like that? sorry, just double checking before i start flashing away.
Nope don't have to do anything special unless you are going to 4.2 there are instructions on how to do it in the trickdroid thread Google changed how the phone sees your files in 4.2
