[Q] [Request] Android 4.2.2 ROM port over? - HTC Droid DNA

Would anyone else love to see the 4.2.2 ROM ported from the Google Edition One to the DNA? I have been trying to get some sweet stock Android on my DNA for a long time and it doesn't appear there are any ROMs on here or anywhere else that would accomplish that. Is it possible?

Right, but isn't that still just a developmental progress? I would love CM as well but I don't think they have a stable release yet.

I really hope this phone opens up roms for our phone

CM vs. Stock Android = two completely different roms. I want to use the CM 10.1 roms, but they don't have working BT audio yet. Maybe this phone's rom will help them get it working? The GPE rom will get tweaked and modded by the htc one community and hopefully those will be easily ported to the dna. Sense is cool and all, but I would like to free up some space on my stupid 16gb of non-expandable storage more than anything. Heck it might even get better battery life without all that htc stuff running in the background? Keeping my fingers crossed. :good:

There are plenty of stock roms. Not necessarily pure aosp, but there's cm amongst many other roms. And they are all about 99% working.

I would have to say no; otherwise it would have been done by now. Kernels are incompatible, can't use an ICS kernel with JB and vice versa. Pretty sure the kernel is the only hold up for us getting a whole bunch of new ROMs.

Ha ha, I know how you feel, dude. I would so love something non-stock. On another note, try some of these themed (inverted) apps. I'm using the inverted play store now and it works fine. Just wipe cache and dalvik first.
http://www.rujelus22.com/evo/m/index.php
Let me know if you try other ones and get them to work. Maybe we can start a new thread directing people where to get them.
Edit: inverted ES file explorer works and looks awesome!

What he meant is that the Nexus 4's kernel is incompatible. We have a booting JB kernel for the Korean leaks that works fine. Problem is, we don't have source yet, so devs are limited in the resources for either porting the Nexus 4 kernel, or building JB roms until we have source, then it will be a lot easier.
And basically that won't happen until we get JB for stock? Damn all these terms are so confusing lol

Nope. Here. So right now we have the Korean JB leaks, and they boot. Devs can try using that kernel and what else we have to build JB, but that is hard. We can also try and port the Nexus 4 stuff, but once the source for Korean JB comes out we can work on JB and build it much easier. We don't actually need JB on our phones, or any phone, just JB source from Korea, US, or whatever comes first.

Like nygfan said above me, we could get the update and still not have the source. The source is the raw, unencrypted file(s) that the kernel was built from. Without that, it is tough to do much with the kernel because we can't read it.
(somebody correct me if I am wrong, that is how I have always understood it.)
So here's a questions I've been thinking about. I want to root and install Nocturnal so I can get de-bloated, Google Now, etc. However, I don't want to be stuck on ICS if JB is officially released in the U.S. prior to a CM or other JB based custom ROM (I know sometimes allowing an OTA can mess up your root, or at least I think I know that). So here's the question: Should I go ahead and root / install Nocturnal? Or is there a possibility that we will get a JB OTA prior to a custom development? Grassy Ass!

I would suggest rooting.
You can enjoy all there is for now in Noc and we do not know when the JB update is coming out.
Any OTA's will probably break root, but usually a dev can take it and root it before it is installed and make a .zip.
Most likely we will actually see JB sooner on rooted devices than stock ones (assuming there is a leak that will work on ours).
If the OTA DOES come out sooner, I give it a week before a .zip is posted... and that seems too long to me.

Right, without kernel source it's just basically changing values based on guesses with a few bricked devices in between. We could probably get JB without JB software source if we just had a good JB kernel for our device. We could always port JB, much harder to port a kernel.

I'd just go for installing the custom ROM you want now. If you have to you could always LGNPST back to stock and get the official JB update.

Stock rooted is good enough for me as I said earlier.
This sucks, same thing happened with the One X, I'm going back to rooted stock and boycotting his Clean Rom.... lol
I bought the HTC One yesterday and was excited that Scott was doing dev for this phone, then I unlock/root my phone this morning and see his post... WTF??
Using the stock updated Dev version, works great so no complaints but was still disappointed.
I hope they merge these soon, there is really no point for them being separated (m7/AT&T)

[Poll] What ROM is everyone currently using as their Daily Driver? 8/11/13

[Q] What ROM do you guys use as your Daily Driver?
Give your reasons.
List length of time on current ROM.
Provide the hyperlink to the explanation/download page of the listed ROM.
As of 8/11/13:
This POLL is created from theidoctor's list here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2297370
It may not not include all options out there for our Verizon S4's but it should include the most used and most stable. If your ROM that you use as your Daily Driver isn't listed make a comment and explain why you use it.
This POLL is not to show "Best ROM" it is solely for the purpose of showing "Most Used". This helps show newbies what ROMs are popular and what they should start with. It says to newbies that this or that ROM has been "tried and true" by the masses and should hold up for my demands...
Please Vote and then add your Reply to the Thread also.

We were missing a couple choices that were obviously wanted and used by many. I couldn't add them to that list.
Also this list you can pick multiple ROMs... IF you actually use multiple ROMs on a Daily basis.

In that case I have tried many roms but only use Eclipse TW based as my daily driver. IMO it is extremely stable and looks great with the aosp mix. Also its the only TW based rom with the AOSP toggles. No other TW based rom has that. Nitro is a genious and works extermely hard to make us all happy. Bonestock has been amazing so far. Stock > ktoonsez kernel for me in terms of battery life. Only lacking an AOSP theme, but for a fairly new ROM, this is great, and the future is bright for the ROM, and Andy is great. ME7 gets rid of most of the bugs in MDK.

Ravike is working on the sense 4.5 and I'm working on sense 5.
The kernel is taking longer than expected, mostly beacuse he has taught himself how to work on the kernel, and has had a lot of help from sebastianfm, but repeated attempts to get help from well known other kernel devs have ignored his questions.
