I'm running the ICS official firmware on my GTab P7500.
My other devices has a Clear All button on the recent apps. How can I add a button like that on my p7500 (was running CM10.1 untill last week but I prefer stability over new features, however the CM10.1 had a button like that.
Maybe a tutorial or something. Thanks!
In task manager, touch the second tab where it shows you the amount of ram available. There is a button which clears ram, similarly like the clear all button.

First of all I'm sorry that I've not completed the topic title with my question.
What I want is a clear all button, not to go in task manager, ram manager and clear ram witch doesnt do the same thing. Try clear ram then open the recent apps, they are still there.
Clearing the ram means you clear the background apps from your ram, thus gaining more ram. Its similar to the clear recent apps in cm10.1.

If you say so maybe it is, but the recent apps are still there after I press clear Ram. Anyway I've wanted a clear all button or maybe a widget on the desktop, something like that, not to go to task manager, ram manager, clear ram.
Well, in the recent apps I think you can swipe away the apps one by one if that's what you want.

. Yes, I know that, but if you have like 20 apps what do you do?
Ummm, swipe one by one 20 times?

Oh , gee thanks !!! ) Waiting for a button thought

Is there any way to make an app like the galaxy devices have? Yes I know most of them (except sgs2 lol) have low ram, even the galaxy s ... but some of them take battery...
Force close an app without the need to go to app info, running services, cached processes...
Also, there is no way to see the foreground apps without having a 3rd party app (I use appswipe! For that)... foreground apps may cause wakelocks too
Any talented dev to make a good thing for us? Thank you in advance, if you do it...

I do, but if I leave someone else play a bit, or do multitasking and forget...

1. Install 3rd party app(kill all apps feature)
2. Reboot your phone after you friend or someone used it
3. I pretty sure a dev like Andy wont implement it as you know task managers are...not really needed.
4. Make it a habit to kill long press back button...
5. Why not don't use the apps that have wakelock...I have a tight app control here and no wakelocks eventhough all my apps(if they are in memory) are running

1. Those are task killers
2. If I let a friend play, it will only give it back to me when in a rush, so can't reboot, and all the apps stay on background
3. We need something like ICS has, but on GB, to see what apps are running (special softkey in galaxy nexus, I think long-press home on ours, ICS users should say how...)
4. Done I sometimes play on other phones, with softkeys that don't need to be pressed (You know how) and I get scared when I play games and I accidentally press back
5. No more wakelocks except google services and android system

I have a rooted galaxy s3 with custom rom but im just wandering the older version of android has that recent app menu in the notification menu which i liked, is there a way i can get it back ?
What do you mean?

Isn't that a HTC Sense thing?
I just hold the home button and use the task switcher..
This is an HTC thing. An old HTC thing.

I agree
Just like the galaxy nexus the on screen navigation keys.... Back home and recent apps button was great because on the galaxy S3 having to switch recent apps by pressing home button will wear and tear button and takes 2 seconds whereas on screen recent apps button was perfect
I know AOKP rom has this on screen keys mod but any add on that someone is developing or has developed for s3 with touchwiz framework would be winderful.... This new TW is beginning to grow on me

i think goluacher also has a recent and running apps in the menu.
Check out "Task Switcher" by gdroid on play store (com.gdroid.fastfive).
Personally I didn't like it, as the curtain doesn't close automatically. But it seems to work fine.
Maybe a developer can bake it back in once some roms start flowing. But nothing I've seen. Let us know!

Good job posting what the guy on top of you posted. How helpful.
There is a new app on the market called Multitask Shortcut, it's not free (only £0.50 though) and I have not tried it but it does seem to do what you are after (check out the video he has on the app page)...

Is there any task killer for ics? That actually works
Sent from my PG86100 using xda premium
There's absolutely no reason you need this. In any case you can slide programs off the screen to get them off memory when you are switching programs by holding down your home key. I use power hungry apps on my Android and I never need a task killer. And besides. There is no task killer that actually works. Google around and you'll see that they cause more problems than they solve. They were needed on some older 2nd Gen phones. But not on the evo 3d.

What piggyslasher said is true, as they actually do more harm than good with respect to battery life. They kill processes that come back and get killed again for a battery eating cycle.
Having said that, the only time a task killer can be useful is when a process gets out of control and starts eating CPU cycles and batteries. So, I recommend Watchdog from the Play Store. It monitors for run away apps and kills them. There is a free version and if you like it, a paid version.

Thank you guys... I dint know holding the home button will show the apps that I'm using I feel dumb

Actually, for me, holding home to display the recent and open apps, swiping them off to close them, it doesn't display all of them. If I hold home again after swiping them all away, there will be more. But non will show a 3rd time. Just a heads up if you wanted to take advantage of this.

Task killers haven't been needed since Froyo.
Home replacement Go has a built-in one in the app drawer.
Sent from my PG86100 using xda app-developers app
I was using Go task manager for a while, it was good, but then I figured out what these other guys are saying here is true. You dont need a task manager. Android OS is managing the tasks the best way possible.
1)Does someone here knows what's the standard limit for background process in our s3?????
2)And does swiping them from recent apps really kills the app or it just remove them from the recent apps list???????
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
1) i dont think there is any standard.. your android kills apps as soon as your ram fills up
2)no..it doesnt kill..it just removes it from the recent list

Hi,
For the first question, what do you mean exactly? About Low Memory Killer?
For your second question: http://stackroulette.com/android/19...-you-swipe-an-app-out-of-the-recent-apps-list with some explanations from Dianne Hackborn (Android Framework Engineer), some parts are very interesting.

Finally, some evidence!
I'm sick of people saying it doesn't close apps, all you have to do to test it yourself is open a few apps, open task manager, look at used ram, open recent menu and swipe everything away and check ram again.
Thanks viking37!

So, we know task managers are bad in Android. Free RAM is useless. What about shutting down them through Android own Recent apps? I dont do that, but I know some people who does that, and if I am correct sliding them away from recent apps closes them. Is this bad or useless?

Android usually has its own memory control mechanism and will close apps wen it needs , but sliding them from the recent app menu also closes them this might be useful when something is consuming CPU to save battery run-time.,
most kill task managers usually use the kill command and forcefully closes the app.
