For my phone listed in title, am I able to work this onto a wireless carrier such as Wind Mobile? I'm not sure if the phone itself will work on their AWS network. Wind says they use 1700/2100. I'm trying to unlock my phone and see if this will be a useful move.
Link (for my phone specs AFAIK): gsmarena.com/samsung_vibrant-3416.php
Note: I know it's the vibrant model, but in Canada they renamed it differently for no reason.

I have seen many Thread about I9000 trying to convert T959 modem to use the T-mobile network. What i couldn't find is from T959 to I9000 to make it to the international version.
I have the T-Mobile Vibrant T-959 unlocked with ECLAIR. I know that the network band of this phone is 850/900/1800/1900. i found the result according to Samsung website. I know in another post it was said that it is hardware issue but the hardware is 850/900/1800/1900.
I live in the United Arab Emirates and the network band here is 900/1800 similar to the European or Asian Network. but the T-mobile uses 850/1900 so i couldn't get 3G or any kind of internet connection here, unless i find a WiFi connection. I need the 3G connection on the move.
I want to know is there any way to change the the modem band to I9000? so that i can use a custom rom like Darky which is Stable according to many users.
I would never be using the phone on US T-mobile or any Network in the US.
You might think this Question is redundant and has already been answered but i search every where but it comes back empty.
Your feedback would be highly Appreciated!!!!
I don't think you can actually change your phone's bands.
However, an unlocked US T-Mobile Vibrant should be working on 3G. According to Wikipedia, the two 3G networks in UAE (du and Etisalat?) use the 2100MHz band, which should be supported.
Thanks for the reply, i tried everything but nothing worked.
One more question to ask, what will happen if i flash i9000 rom and radio on a T-mobile phone. Or should i just flash it with a T-mobile rom without changing the radio, and if the sim gets locked I will just unlock?
this is the final question to ask.
Don't know if this helps but I use my unlocked vibrant in the uk, so if European bands are the same...it should work.
You can change roms and I would recommend you should but you can't use an i9000 modem.
Do you have a Sim with a data plan?
Can you text or make calls?

Yes i can make a calls and send Text but no internet connection. I just bought data plan for my sim.
So i Should get Vibrant custom rom not the I9000 rom?
And thank you Guys for your replay, I hope this tread will help other confused users on XDA
I would like everyone to know that it is not good thing to change there modem from T959 to i9000 your phone will brick never do it.
I just flashed a new rom from Trigger 3.2 which upgraded to Froyo 2.2 and i put in the settings for the Access Point and it works perfectly.
So if you have any difficulty accessing 3g or HSDPA connection on android 2.1 just upgrade it and it will work.
How did you conclude you're not on 3G? Do you get EDGE or GPRS internet connection?
So i need the 1800 mhz how can i do?
Flash a i9000 modem and see if it works.

There is the possibility to brick the phone?
I feel pretty stupid asking this question seeing as I put this ROM on myself and ought to know everything about it. It's Neutrino GT for the Atrix 4G. I have AT&T for my provider, and I have poor reception at my home. I recently had to switch to my backup Atrix with the ROM, and I noticed that it is using U.S. Cellular, which provides full EDGE reception. Obviously nothing amazing, but still better than what I was getting with AT&T. I also have the option of using T-Mobile.
My question is..Is this only possible because of the ROM, or is there another piece of android development that allows this to happen without actually roaming? I want to get another phone and be able to have this option, but I need to understand how it's possible to have the option to use other carriers at will.
Where did you get your backup Atrix? It has been SIM (network) unlocked if its an AT&T and you can use it on other networks. That's not the ROM.

I bought the Atrix off eBay long while back, and I did unlock it. Although my SGSIII GT-I9300 only seemed to be able to connect to the AT&T carrier (unless roaming), and not have this option. Additionally, I have an AT&T SIM in it. Unfortunately I'm not allowed to post a picture yet on my post being new, but under Settings > Mobile Networks > Network operators > Available Networks, it will list AT&T, AT&T, U.S. Cellular (or USA Unicel), and T-Mobile. On my SGSIII, it only listed the two AT&T networks. This is all with just the AT&T SIM in it. If you dial a wrong number when it's under U.S. Cellular, it will even go through the whole "Hello, this is U.S. Cellular..The number you have reached..." bit.
Hello Everyone
I don't know if this has been asked before, but I searched and found no answers. Basically, Me and my dad want to switch from Rogers to Mobilicity (which uses the 1700/2100 frequency), so we went to the mobilicity store and tried my dad's galaxy s2 lte (rogers version) with the mobilicity sim card, and the phone didn't detect mobilicity's network (it goes into Rogers roaming mode i think). So I started looking around, and I found this advertisement on Kijiji Calgary about modifying the S2 LTE to work with Mobilicity's frequency. So, Is there a way I can convert/modify the phone by myself to work with the AWS 1700/2100 frequency? I assume the phone has to be rooted first if such thing is possible?
Thanks!
I don't think so as it's HW related.

i have the tmobile version (SGH-T989) flashed to the Rogers radio... and now i'm able to connect to RoBelLus
and when i'm fed up w/ their high prices, I can just flash back a Tmobile radio and go with Wind/Mobilicity
it works for the ATT Skyrocket & Tmobile version of the S2 ... i'm not sure if it will work with the Rogers one... do some research, you should be able to do it
PM me if you some help researching... if i can't get u the answers, i might be able to guide you to the right threads
I've been wanting an upgrade from my G2x for a while and what I want, which is what everyone else wants, is the Samsung Galaxy S3. I don't know which model to get, being that there are so many models of the S3 depending on the service provider. Here's the situation: I'm on a t-mobile value plan, living in West Virginia (I'm a student) with the only service here is roaming on AT&T, thus I only get edge. Can I use a different model, like an unlocked AT&T, and then be able to use more than 2G? Then be able to get full 4G when I do go to t-mobile service area? (From the chart by forum moderator, it shows AT&T shares 1900 mHz, 2100mHz, HSPA+, so it should technically work with tmobile, correct line of thought?)
*I already know that unlocked international version won't be able to get on anything more than 2G in US, it having different radios.
Also, read somewhere that I could buy the AT&T model and be able to use international LTE networks. Is that true? Could someone here enlighten me about the issues with the radios/frequencies (for US) for S3?
Much appreciated. Tried to find this question answered somewhere, and couldn't so posting now.
Hi, I'm new here.
I own Universal Unlocked Samsung S10 Model # SM-G973U1 purchased directly from Samsung. I originally activated it on the Boost Mobile network and Ive decided to switch to AT&T prepaid service. I find out that the SM-G973U1 apparently wont utilize the AT&T Wifi Calling (Per: AT&T Forum). I was informed I'd need the SM-G973U.
I'm also not sure if I'm even getting the 4g connection (My phone shows LTE, LTE+, H, H+ and no connection).
I believe I have bad cell reception in my house.
If I were to install the SM-G973U firmware onto my SM-G973U1, would this solve my problem?
Will my phone still be an Universal unlocked phone?
If I choose to switch back to the SM-G973U1 firmware should I be OK?
Would I need to do the same if I were to switch to T-Mobile?
Would I be better off switching to T-Mobile?
Any other thoughts about this topic I should be aware of?
Thank you for your time.
Robert
