Battery not charging - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello people, I can't charge my phone at all. When I plug in, it will say it is charging. But next morning, battery will be lesser then before charge. This is not my charger problem as I have replaced a new one from Samsung. I also tried re,moving battery for 5 mins and putting it back but still can't charge. I also wipe and reflash ROM but still can't solve problem. Any other solutions to try?

Most probably your charging port is at fault here

Judged by your multiple battery problem posts you probably need a service centre . jje

What about changing the battery instead of the charger? Tried that already?

I got a the same issue this morning. Says it charging but it's not.

It does not have warranty anymore. I tried my 3rd charger already but still can't fix.

Same happened to me after a month of jb update what I found is the only thing that I'll bring back charging to normal is ics if the problem is really annoying then install ics Rom that I'll solve your problem
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
So you have change back to ics?
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
Try a different cable, same thing was happening to me a couple of months back. Turned out to be the cable.

Yea that's the only thing that solved my charging woes...before that I had tried all the tricks ie removing battery for 10 sec.., rebooting , changing Rom ,kernels after super wipe but nothing worked but for ics.

Even I changed the cable and chargers everything would solve the problem for couple of days then again back to square one...one peculiar thing was there was no knowing when it used to charge and when it used to stop there was no pattern to it...

Dude, i have the same problem as you. When my phone is plugged in, it takes forever to charge it and if i am using it when charging it will quickly discharge. Really annoying.
Slow charging
I think i have the same problem.
when i charge my phone over night, the battery is in the morning only 40-50%
I tried my old htc desire charger and the normal s3 charger, but it does not make any difference.
What can be the problem? my charger, battery or my phone itself?
FYI, I did a Kies update and that fixed my battery problem. Try it. It may work for you to.
it happened to me too
what I did was u changed my USB cable
it solved my problem
try this
Sent from my GT-I9300
a different good quality cable will solve the problem. I had a slow charging issue .changed to a Nokia sync cable .nd voila charges in the required speed
Sent from my GT-I9300
yes.. i guess whoever is encountering problem should try using the original cable and see if solve the problem.. mine does.. no choice..

Use Original Samsung cable or Nokia cable - that fixes most charging problems.
3rd party cables give a lot of problems...

I tried twisting the cable....first i tought some problem in the connection point of cable to my phone....i changed cable nothing.....
is it hardware issue of my phone where it connects to charging cable or is it Jelly bean????
im really disappointed that how come a new phone (only 1.5 months old) can have this problem.....
PLEASE HELP ME.....I CANNOT CHARGE MY MOBILE.......from wall or USB....im starting to hate samsung ...although i used Galaxy S Plus...and loved it.....

S1/S2/ BlackBerry and many others work on the S3

[Q] Having phone issues

Hello people, I have a rooted s3 running super nexus ROM. I decided to charge my phone last night at 83%. This morning when I check, I still had 83%. I have changed all my chargers and cables(charger and cables are original) before this happened but unfortunately I still can't charge. I don't know if its my Hardware or software problem. Anyone else have the same problem as me?
I have uploaded my phone info as well.

that might be some software bug rather than a hardware problem. did you try removing the battery and re-inserting it?
Yes sriram. I did remove my battery. As a matter of fact, this is my second battery.I tried resetting battery stats and factory resets but problem persists.

then this might be a problem with the charging port i guess! better return to stock warranty and give it in the service center.

Charging faulty?

I've been trying to charge my phone lately my nexus s charger no longer charges as quick as it used to and my tab2 plug and s3 wire doesn't seem to be charging as fast. Could this be a USB fault or ROM as I came from paranoid ROM tried to go stock got a error and used the kies emergency recovery

This. I've been using my blackberry cable for a while now to since the stock chargers are really crappy. Besides, it disconnects with the slightest touch. I first blamed my USB ports for it, but when I changed the cable everything's fine

Battery life woes.... Flashed AOKP and...

Well how do i start this off.... I had average battery life before flashing AOKP. I was on CleanRom V9 at first, I saw that AOKP was finally stable enough for me to consider it. I flashed, had it all set up for a day or 2. Then I experienced this extremely slow charging bug. I read about it on the thread over there. Then I said forget it and went back to CleanRom. Well I restored back to CleanRom and the battery woes continued on to there! And even when I have the phone on the charger, it continues to drain, no matter what I do. Like earlier today, I had my phone charging and I opened it to check my Twitter. Phone stayed at 100% for about an hour ON THE CHARGER. Sat my phone down STILL ON THE CHARGER to take a quick shower, came back and it was sitting on 84%. It dropped 16% in like 30 mins. Does anyone know what could POSSIBLY be causing this weird battery drain? Maybe just a bad battery? Or my charger isn't working right? Oh I have the original OEM charger. Please help!

Reflash clean rom. Wipe everything including internal sd
Sent from my SCH-I605 using Tapatalk 2
And that will work? I won't need to wipe my SD card would I? Shouldn't have a thing to do with it.... Could I reflash AOKP afterwards?
Sent from my SCH-I605 using Tapatalk 4 Beta
Try it and let us know. You're having issues. Either way try this clean flash and report your findings or deal with the issues you have. It can't get any worse then it already is unless you somehow manage to brick your phone

Thanks man

I had this issue and for some reason, after a few days, using a new charger worked. I believe the stock charger is just made cheaply. Go to a verizon and ask them to do a battery test with the stock Samsung charger
Sent from my SCH-I605 using Tapatalk 4 Beta
Cool. Weird, I used my wife charger for her note and it charged while I was using the phone. But I used my charger, it drained while I used it. Idk. Bad charger maybe.
Sent from my SCH-I605 using Tapatalk 4 Beta
UPDATE: It seems as if it may have been the USB cable from the stock Samsung charger. The base itself is performing great but I ended up using a different USB cable in the base. Phone charged up while using EXTENSIVELY. previously it wouldn't charge at all and would drain while on the charger. Im still experiencing a lil extra battery drain but I already have new Hyperion batteries on order from Amazon. Could be a combination of bad cable and failing battery. Will update when batteries arrive.

S2 i9100 slow/not charging?

Hi,
I've got a S2 that is slow at charging (like 1% or 2% every hour) but I've tried multiple batteries, multiple chargers, reset the battery stats, changed rom but nothing is fixing it.
Any ideas as to what it could be? (I've ordered a new charging port as it was only £5 so that should be here Monday) but what other things could it be and is there a way to charge the battery externally? (not in the phone?)

haha yeah but I mean, you seem rather confident that it's the charging port... I am buying the port just incase it is that but also as a backup as we have 3 s2's in the house

It is the charging port, same problem happened to my phone last year. I've replaced the changing port and everything is back to normal.
