Can't Update to 1.27.531.8 - T-Mobile HTC One (M7)

A month ago I recieved the 1.27.531.8 update from T-Mobile, but I haven't been able to actually update my phone since then. I've downloaded it multiple times to no avail. I'm completely stock -- everything is exactly like it was when I took it out of the box.
Alright, now the problem itself: as soon as my phone boots into stock recovery, it starts the update, then immediately comes up with the red triangle and exclamation mark above a phone icon. When I entered the recovery to see what went wrong, the transcript read "Find update package...Opening Update Package...Installation Aborted." After a while, the phone just reboots.
Every time I tried to update, the same thing happens. Completely stock, no root, stock recovery, stock ROM.

Delete old update package and redownload, if that don't work return the phone

Redownloading doesn't work. Is there a better option than replacing the phone?

i777 update downlloading: 20502KB in size

Sometimes just for kicks I check to see if there is an update. Even though I am rooted and running Enthropy's kernel.
Today (2011/12/15) all of a sudden it found a new firmware. I searched the news field and didn't see anything about it. Does anyone here know about it?
Looks like its the ICS update. Odd that it came out so quickly.
(just kidding...)
Probably KK6 just went official.
LOL. Wouldn't that be something. Hell will be frozen. Pigs will be flying... etc etc
You should download the file, pull it then post it here for us to rip it apart and see what it is
It said it downloaded, but not sure where the file was downloaded. It wasn't update.zip ( of course)
Anyone has any ideas?
I assume it would be in your downloaded folder.
Im not sure, Ive never downloaded anything OTA.
I'd guess root of the sd card
edit: not actual card
I got nothing
current software is up to date
Says I have the most current software. No way Samsung or AT&T would have ICS out already.

Not me. After update process finished and phone rebooted, I got a message 'Update process interrupted'. The update didn't go through and my phone stays as is (still on 2.3.4 and rooted).
What do different modems do?
What are the difference between UCKH7, UCKJ4, UCKJ1, UCKJ2, and UCKJ6?
Yes but they were quick. I'm glad to get official ics so early.

Update completed...
So after the update, I'm now on 2.3.6. The screen lock bug is fixed, but what else?
Tried two more times. Even unroot my phone. Still failed to update. Oh well. I'll wait until ICS to update then. Too much hassle to go through flashing back to stock process.

[Q] Error when installing update

I was rooted with TWRP. I flashed stock using VRUAMDK_NoWipe.tar. Phone boots and runs fine, but when in stock recovery I see a red triangle in the androids belly, When trying to install the new update, I get a update failed, error 402. Any ideas?

All I know is that you need to be COMPLETELY STOCK. My assumption would be that NoWipe is leaving something behind that may be causing the problem. Otherwise it could be the flash count. I was getting the same problem and didn't want to risk trying triangle away so I called it quits.

I was stock rooted with cwm....I was also getting 402 after using no wipe..I wound up biting the bullet and flashed the full stock kernel...lost all my settings...hooked up the phone to the pc and installed the verizon update program...the new update came down with no problem....I did of course have to re customize my phone..no biggie since im a firm believer that you should do a factory restore after each update anyway
I was completely stock and rooted and updated whole retaining root.

I'm having the same issue. Had the pre-release kernel and stock root just to freeze apps. Got the error on the update so did no wipe which didn't work. Tried doing complete .tar and .pit restore then update and still getting the error. Checked the count in TA and it was at 0. Tried tether update and failed. Now i'm trying the tether repair tool which is currently running.
Forgot i even tried installing just the stock kernel as well with no effect.

Can't install new T-Mobile update!

so first off i'm fully stock, as in never messed with anything out the box. i downloaded the new software update OTA and tried to install. i restarts and starts the update. as soon as it pops up with the download bar, a red triangle with an exclamation point in the middle and a phone laying down pops up. i tried deleteing the download and doing it again several times, but keep the same results. can any help or explain why this is happening? be greatly appreciated!
That's the screen I have seen on 3 Android devices while updating. While I don't have a One yet, my Note2 shows the same screen when installing an update.

I am having this same issue. I have deleted the the update from the downloads folder requiring my phone to have to re-download the the update but get the same result. Pressing the volume up button doesn't help. I am also fully stock. I have been trying to update repeatedly since it became available. Any and all help is appreciated.

same issue here. I think they not only messed our RUU and made it corrupt, but made the entire OTA corrupt......
Same here. Mine is stuck at the progress bar though. I have to reboot it and then I get the red triangle.
Did anyone of you having this Red Triangle issue ever did any modifications to your phone? Suppressed any apps, deleted them? any changes made to the phone can make that happen. Also while on the red triangle, have you tried pressing the down or up button, sometimes it displays the error what wen't wrong with the install.
If push comes to shove, factory reset, then install. (data will be lost)

mine says
finding update
opening update
something along those lines then it says, installation aborted. it all pops up after i press the volume up key
Pressing power/vol-up in recovery toggles "show recovery text". You're not actually "doing" anything that might affect the update by doing this.
That said: If it is failing, there are basically two reasons:
1) Bad download. The update file itself is corrupted.
2) You did something to the device and the update will not continue because it has detected this.
If it is 1, wipe cache/dalvik (use fastboot to boot into TWRP from your PC if you have to) and try deleting/re-downloading the update. If it is2, you'll need to find some way to return to stock. Waiting for the RUU to be fixed in this case may be the most prudent step.

I have not made any modifications to my phone at all. The only change I do is kill the power saver app when I restart so that it is not in my notification bar. I did do a factory reset last night and then attempted the update again with the same result.
After getting the red triangle, I have tried both the up and down volume buttons but they don't do anything. Sometimes I can get to the recovery menu when also pushing the power button but the only option that works is the reboot option.
I also attempted the manual update option from the HTC website but ran into the issue of the bad file that there is another entire thread about in the general forum.

have you tried installing the past .8 RUU on your phone and then trying again to get the .11 OTA? maybe that can work. (its a PITA but worth the try at this point.)

I have not. I will try and find it when I get home tonight and see if that works. Do you know if it is available on the HTC site or if I will find it somewhere here on the forums? I just backed everything up last night so I am willing to give almost anything a try right now. I will let you know if it works or not.

There is no .8 ruu.
You'd have to try the .8 firmware in the dev thread, and an .8 nandroid or stock Rom

Thanks, I prefer not to root or flash my phone at this time. I will just wait and see if the .11 ruu gets fixed and try that.

Ir there is no .8 RUU then in the website you will find all the software that's ever been shipped with out with out phones, start from the back and let the OTA's do the rest.

Mugetsu posted a bone stock nothing touched .8 nandroid on the .8 thread. I flashed that, made sure twrp didn't root it, then finally flashed the stock recovery. Rebooted, took the .11 OTA (took a few reboots to make it complete at the progress bar in stock recovery). I'm finally now on .11 and rooted with twrp.
I was s-off and unlocked by the way. Didn't relock at all.

I'm not sure about him, but I have a rooted One and have flashed the stock recovery back onto it. I've tried installing the OTA that was pushed to my phone, but when it boots into recovery it only gets about halfway before it fails. It reboots into recovery and tries again, before just showing a red exclamation mark. I haven't been able to find much information on how to install the OTA without wiping the phone and losing all my data. Any ideas?

New ota 531.11

Well last night I got the new it's 531.11
It download and try to install. It fail since I'm on custom recovery but stock rooted Rom.
I remember last time I just installed the other ota via clockworks.
But this in keeps stopping.
Is there a way to unpack it and repack it to use?
Or must I load stock recovery, flash then re root?

yea wish there was a fix i have no clue why it keeps doing this. The .8 update hung but rebooting fix it. but this one just keeps giving the triangle and not sure how to fix it.
Found the FIX
So found out if you hit vol + and power it will bring up the menu for the stock recovery.
I flash the update using that and came up with and error and red triangle.
It said that tmobile iq was missing and it was trying to patch it.
Which is probably why it stops and throws the Red error.
I added it back to my /system/app/ and it fix it but then came up with another error about another missing app. (i debloated the rom and deleted all the crap)
I added back all the stock boat ware files from Nocturnal_1.27.531.7_Odex_TmoStock rom
Then try to flash 531.11 but came up with some errors for some mix match odex files.
So flash the update 531.8
hangs on running bug_fix1 tool but just reboot phone with vol - and power
try to flash again and it . It finally flash and ended up with a fresh copy of 531.8
So now since all those files are there i flash the 531.11
Went throught withotu problems. Reboot on its own a few times tho.
once it loaded it came up and told me to update the camera and i did so.
I didnt have to re root but probably because i have super su set to stay with ota updates. I did flash back cwmod
Headache and a lot of rebooting lol but i guess its just how it works. The script is written to abort if it doesnt find or is a mix match ver of the file its trying to patch.
look on my signature, made a fresh stock odex rom, nothing added.. not rooted rom,
if u want root, just flash the SU and download from the google playstore busybox 9.6.
no files are added or taken out.
