Hey dudes and dudettes. Just got a new dna but ive been around these forums a while. Married, 45, 2 kids and a busy life. Enjoying this phone unrooted more than any phone i think ive owned. Couple of qurstions. Im on the newest firmware i think. Is it worth rooting? Difficult? Im coming from the nexus and really liked stock 4.2.2. Ive also had a incredible and a tbolt, so im used to sense and dont mind it. Once i figure out a phone, i really enjoy helping others. Looking forward to being a productive member in these forums. am a new photon owner coming from a htc hero. have had my mopho for a month I an unlocked rooted running cm7 and joker's 1.3 kernel and zep's v6 script and let me tell you this puppy flies my only issue is my internet on 3g guessing is the area I live in but its weak as hell.... other than that its a wonderful phone worth every penny

I'm using MIUI alpha ROM at the moment. A little buggy but still pretty smooth so far. Want to ask a question about it but can't because of the ten posts rule. Have been a member for over a year and have never had a reason to post anything till now.

mine is rooted but not unlocked I dealt with the custom roms on my og evo but I just wanted it rooted to get rid stock apps and hotspot.
I'm actually a little surprised with how comfortable I am with the stock software. With my Evo, once I learned about rooting, I rooted and flashed a new rom on that thing almost immidiately. Haven't found the need for it with this thing yet. Only thing I've changed was the boot screen.

Came from evo 3d,and before that og evo....and this is the better phone.only reason i rooted was because of bloat.that's it.what really make this phone for me is the dock accessories....i really feel that is the future if mobile computing! !

I am a big wuss so staying with the locked bootloader for now.
I am running Jokers4G locked rom with stock kernel. I like the minimilistic part of the Jokers rom I am very happy with the battery life in comparison.
Hmm, quick test CM9 rom indicates that the battery is discharged like on stock. So, the future of the CM9! Best rom 4 ever!

I spent about a week reading and re-reading the 1350+ posts on the [ROMS]12/24/2011 joker roms unlocked and locked(4g) thread and a few other other developers threads about rooting/unlocking/rsd/sbf/cwm/flashing roms and pretty much everything in the developers area. My thinking was read everything until I understood it, THEN start doing everything so I wouldn't screw up my phone and end up asking how to fix things. The reading paid off. My phone is rooted, had bootstrap, is now unlocked with CWM recovery, has been flashed to Skinnyrev2-test3.5, is overclocked and undervolted, and modded with 8-finger multitouch.
I went back to the dev forums to thank the devs for their hard work (especially Joker!) only to find that because I spent my time reading instead of posting, I wasn't allowed to post in the dev forums...
So...since this thread is specifically for that, I'll use it to get my post count up to 10. Even so, it will probably take a few days because I am naturally more of a lurker than poster.

Hi all.
My wife's phone recently played out for the third time within a year (D2). When they replaced it this time they sent her a completely different phone.
Well she liked my DX2 better so I got the other (sam strat) phone. I had planned on moving to another phone in the not so distant future but looks like I got moved sooner then I thought. (Still gonna get a different phone in the near future)
The DX2 community on here is incredible, and I am sure that goes without saying and everyone of you guys and gals know that! I will miss my phone and the community but it's time to move on I suppose. I wish you all the best, I am sure I will stop in from time to time to check up on things.
DK, your an awesome Dev. and I think more so then that you seem to be a super guy from what one can get to know someone else through communicating over the internet / forums. Thanks man for all your time and effort!

Don't be a stranger and be sure to stop in from time to time. When I got my Gnex, the thought crossed my mind that I may not frequent the DX2 community as much. But I just can't let it go. Other areas here on XDA just don't offer what is abundant here. By far the best on the web, hands down.

I'm rockin AT&T's Atrix 2 on the 4.0.4 ICS leak and I still come in the X2 forums to try and help when I can. Had my fun on the X2 from Eclipse to CM7 and CM9 so I know whats what with the device as well. So thats a +1 for me as well. Guess I will see you over on rootzwiki then? They have a forum for the Stratosphere. Rooting+flashing isn't so bad once you learn how to use odin. It's definitly a lot easier rooting the x2, but oh well. Still stuck with 2 or 3 roms too which are all tweaked versions of stock because the radio interface layer is locked by samsung. They say we're supposed to get ICS(only reps, no official updates), but won't give out any dates or anything. Oh well.
I reccommend tweaked 2.2. Pretty awesome!

Yeah Roy I am over there. Got my phone rooted and frosted... lol No ROM or Kernel yet, just not sure if I want to go there, if I did it would deffiently be the Tweaked 2.2.

So I'm about to get a GSM DROID RAZR and its asiaretail etc....question. I'll be using my straight talk att sim. Will I get 3g? Will I be able to flash custom ROMs etc? What will I need for stock firmware and rsd files? Sorry for the questions but I'm in america and coming from a Galaxy Nexus Gsm so I need to get the basics down. Thanks

Well I think I figured out the RSD side of it. I had a Motorola Atrix 2 at one point so that's not too new but I know there's so many versions of the RAZR and didn't want to screw up any

Coming from the nexus to a Droid RaZr will mean you have little to worry about. The phone has many aspects which are similar to the nexus like software buttons and a very much stock like overlay. I know that the phone has a lot of support all over the web, not as much as the nexus, but enough.
The Motorola itself has a specialized forum on XDA where everything generic like that will be discussed. Try not to get overwhelmed with excitement or enthusiasm becuase the phone may turn out to be less than your high expectations. I share that anticipation when I am getting a new device. That being said, it is a great device.
As a side bit of advice, do not rush into flashing and modding without reading. It will always end in tears. [BRICK].

Just be careful with fastboot files. Make sure you only flash the asiaretail fastboot files that work with your phone or you'll end up with a paperweight.

Going to start a ROM bounty here.
Plain and simple i love the idea of the ROM and would like to see a stable build for us.
Bounty will be played upon dev completing a stable build with no major bugs (ie. cell/data/3g,late working/MMS,GPS etc)
I know this can be done and would love to do it if i had the skill sets or the time.

They can flame all they want. Doesn't bother me. I'd like to see some new stuff in the community and am willing to fork out some money to see it. There may or may not be others that feel the same way but hey that's their opinion.

Yeah I've tries it as well as a few other ppl here phone FCS along with contact storage.
I manages to get data working with some edits but no one can get cell service ie. Phone calls to work even when using an alternate dialer like exdialer. Simply says dialing and never goes through.
I also tried the porting tool same issues
