[Q] Rooting HTC EVO 4G LTE - Sprint HTC EVO 4G LTE

hello I have been trying to root a HTC EVO 4G LTE
INFO of phone:
Mode number: EVO
Android version: 4.1.1
HTC Sense version: 4+
HTC SDK AP Level: 4.63
if anymore info is needed i will obtain it
I know that the problem is that the phone does not have the option to be on power mode only
The phone has not had anything changed on it.
I am also wondering if there is a way to flash the ROM, [Samsung has ODIN which lets you flash special ROMS to phone]
If anyone knows a way to get this phone rooted I would really appreciate it.:good:

Go to htcdev and unlock your bootloader by following the instructions.
http://www.htcdev.com/
After that, get S-off using moonshine method.

I already know about the site and I've tried unlocking the bootloader but it messes up during the fastboot process for some reason and i've tried using htcdev on windows 7 and windows 8.
but my main question is having the HTCEVO4GLTE to have the option to be on "charge mode"

Make sure you have the latest driver. You can find it in the link below. Use the one dated 6-6-13.

I'm thinking the option changed when the EVO LTE was upgraded from ICS to JB.

[Q] White HTC Evo 3D, is it any different?

Alright, so I have the White(Radioshack only) HTC Evo 3D.
I've tried everything that's out there to root/unlock/downgrade 1.5 -> 1.4
Nothing is working, so my biggest question is <insert title name here>.
I don't mean to be a huge NOOB. But seriously, is it different? I can't manage to do..well..anything at this point, I absolutely LOATHE the stock rom on here, and can't find any way to get away from it.
Any help would be lovely!
PS: I would have posted in development, and just asked for help rooting my phone here, but I can't as I'm a newbie on these forums.

If u don't mind the HTC Unlock, have u looked at my hboot 1.50 guide (in my signature)?
And you've already tried unknownforce & Closeone's downgrade thread?

When I tried that, when I went into "recovery" with vol down + power it said that I can't use that image. It said something about my version being older, when its not.
That means you need to update to a newer version and sence we are on that subject what version are you running

If you don't mind me asking, update for what?
You most likely have to download the full 2.17 RUU so that it will "upgrade" your phone before you can "downgrade" it.
h ttp://sdx-downloads.com/devs/DC13/ROMS/RUU_Shooter_S_Sprint_WWE_2.17.651.5_Radio_1.06.00.1216_NV_NV_spcs_1.42_release_233304_signed.exe
(take out the space)
Ok I found it on football dev section but this will require you to dowload the ruu which contain the hboot 1.4 now you will at need your bootloader unlocked to do this or do you have that done already ? So I present to you the ruu that will downgrade your hboot to 1.4 don't download this to EVO you have to download it to your pc or laptop and put the EVO in bootloader and then connect the USB cable and press power to turn on your fastboot next on your pc or laptop execute the program and it will run I've done this on my EVO and let me tell you the program is slow butt it works so here you go http://www.filefactory.com/file/c19...216_NV_NV_spcs_1.42_release_233304_signed.exe

Ok then the only other option is rootevo3dnew and you can't go wrong with that one its design for people that have hboot 1.50

Alright, I'm running it now, and I'm at a black "HTC" screen and the program ran into an error: (Error 171, USB connection error).
Edit: Yup, it's not flashing.
Did u enable usb debugging in android's settings?
Overall I'm confused about a few things.
What is your detailed hw & sw versions:
- hboot:
- locked/unlocked:
- s-on/s-off:
- Fw: 2.17.651.5 etc?
- Radio:
What do u actually want... HTC Unlock or hboot downgrade with s-off?
U said u tried everything, but didn't link any threads or files that u used, so we can't be sure what u actually did.
(havent seen u post in any of the xda threads u should be following. I coulda missed it. U did say ur post count was low).
U didn't indicate if u read the hboot 1.50 guide in my signature.

I was just trying to unlock the bootloader and install a custom rom.
I eventually figured it out, but not anything that I tried worked, and then it did by just trying over and again. Not sure what else to really say.
I was hboot 1.5 locked s-on and everything was stock. No "cracks" would work, until I "brute forced it."

Evo V 4G Root and Bootloader Unlock Guide?

Hey all,
So I've got the Eco V for Virgin and I'm looking to put some custom Roms on it but I'm very confused as to where to start. I know there's an all in one tool for the Desire HD to unlock the bootloader and to root it, but I'm curious to if there is a similar method to the Evo V. Thanks for the help!

Now will this work for the 4.0.3 version? I know this is an older method and the other guys on the links are using Gingerbreak. Even though I'm running ICS...

Iwill probably wont root again until Jelly Bean Update

I lost my root on the last OTA and since there are still no new method to re root on this new version might as well wait till the JB update. I think by Mid August / Sept we can see the new OTA to JB

I almost tried this until I read the following ~ I wanted the fixes in the latest OTA:
"Successful in rooting all builds up to 1.13.651.1."
It works for 1.22. It unlocks your phone and installs twrp. You just have to flash chainfires 0.94 superuser to be fully rooted

Yes, S-OFF on hboot 1.15 is a work-in-progress, perhaps with a future Lazy Panda exploit.
I believe the original user's requirement was root and unlocked on the current OTA.
These are HTC phones. You can always use HTC dev as a last resort. We will always have root.
Also, don't accept otas if your rooted or ever plan on rooting.

Believe that s-on with the new hboot restricts u as to what is flashable, ie kernels, splash screens, radios. Whereas the old hboot does not. Why some of us are waiting for s-off on current ota/hboot.

I think you just need to type "fastboot oem lock" without the quotes in a cmd window.
An RUU will take you back to complete stock.
I have never done it so not 100%
Question why have you not tried to go S-OFF? It would save you so many headaches.
I'm pretty sure you need the stock recovery to accept an OTA so RUU is probably the way to go

I can confirm. RUU failed until I had the stock recovery and locked bootloader

Thanks fellas
adb tools w/stock recovery incase anyone needs it
I'm S-On, Unlocked, rooted, hboot 1.15 and have TWRP (don't recall which custom ROM I installed months ago but it is stock based). When I checked for the JB update I was notified it was there and was able to download it but I haven't tried installing yet. Will I be able to install it or will I need to re-lock, un-root or otherwise modify my phone before I can install stock JB?
Some people are having trouble recovering root after 2.03, might be better to wait a bit longer

Go to Cyanogen Mod official website ... You can get a whole lot information there... !!! its is the only rom which is providing jellybean 4.1.2 on AMAZE 4g
Please read the "pinned" threads located at the top of the various forums. All of the info you seek is located there. The brief reader's digest version is as follows: You need to download and have a working adb setup. You also need some drivers from the HTC website. While there you need to register as a developer and follow the instructions. If followed correctly they'll give you a binary blob that you need to push to your phone from windows to unlock your bootloader. You'll still be s-on but unlocked. Then depending on which version of the amaze you have and which version of android is currently running on it there are different procedures for attaining s-off, which is a requirement if using a non-T-Mobile US device. After you've gotten those things in order you can begin flashing.
None of this is difficult, but it does require reading on your part, and nobody here is going to hold your hand, especially if they see you haven't made any effort by at least reading the instruction threads.
Just flash the SuperSU.zip file via recovery. For some customs roms, you won't need to root your phone before flashing, your phone will automatically get root access one you flash them. All you will need is having a custom recovery .

Actually you're not quite on point. Without unlocking your bootloader you can't flash a recovery and smartflash on 4ext doesn't work properly without a working busybox and superuser. So after unlocking and flashing or pushing a superuser apk you need to also install busybox too or smartflash can't write to the protected partitions.
I think everyone knows they cannot flash a custom recovery without unlocking the bootloader first.

LOL you'd be surprised what kind of questions get asked here and how often the same ones are repeated, especially in this forum where newbies can post until eligible for the other forums. Look and see how many threads and individual posts are here, the vast majority are the same basic questions asked over and over by those who've never bothered to read the information posts pinned to top of each forum.
