I have very open apps and I dont know why like Maps x 2 and google services twice! and Facebbok used so much rqam like 60 mb

Got to your developer settings & set the background process limit to 2, the it should buy u some RAM

The reason behind this is that devs are still working on jb(these releases are UNOFFICIAL) and they present some problems like ram managment... Dont worry though they will fix it :good:
U can also use greenify for ram problems...
And lets not forget that u can quarantine apps so that they are just installed... They cannot be used while in quarantine, so they cannot run in background.
Finally, make sure to use custom roms which are debloated.
Hope that works

[Q] how to maximize the working x10 other than JIT and delete some junk app?

my sony x10 too laggy when i use live wallpaper, does anyone knows about the optimize x10 with .apk? like one click lag fix on SGS ?
Usually it will lag until it caches everything, then with time it will only get better, JIT helps as well but some of who used it faced battery problems ( I was one of them ) having 7 hours of battery life, however with time I noticed a huge improvement as my X10i now can go more than 20 hours with live wallpaper ( beautiful weather live wallpaper ) and JIT.
you can un-install Timescape and all of its components as it improves your device performance a lot

you can always re-flash it to the original state and gain the warranty again
It's you choice in the end, but many people are doing that.
You can backup timescape before un-installing it, similar to what I did, so whenever I wanted it back all I have to do is restore it

Used freeze to Timescape, but haven't see a big difference
Use minfreemanager, what will force android to free up more memory(mine about 70MB always free).
It's like a task manager, but the droid's default one. Mine is a little smoother, what's really good
Search on the market, install, and open link what it shows for details

Actually you want Android to use as much RAM as possible. If you keep forcing it to free up RAM it will make things worse. Let the OS do its job people! This is not Windows!
can you video how to install JIT app? i have rooted my x10 with Z4root

Actually there are ppl around here with ~120MB free limit with no problem. As the app have presets I use those instead of set an insane limit. And Android itself is what wipe apps from RAM, so it's not like the Windoze
The Aggressive preset means ~65MB and this is still better than default ~28MB

Pretty newbie
You need to combine several stuff to make your phone much more efficient :
- Delete all apps you don't need : all useless keyboards, Face Recognition (big eater), MediaScape, TimeScape, Playnow, all useless widgets ... using Root Explorer
- Use autokiller in strict mode (example), it will free up ram
- You may use Setcpu to max performance when you need (remember it will drains you battery like black hole !!)
- Use startup auditor to block unwanted processes
- Use Android System Info to monitor running processes and kill memory/cpu eaters once you don't use them anymore
- Avoid use of widgets
where i can download root explorer? i cant find it in the market...
please give me video "how to install JIT"

Slow xperia mini pro at the start

Hello people I have a question:
My phone has only like 40 apps installed, with go launcher ex and some widgets, but every time I turn it on when I get to the menu its like slow, when I try to move between apps again the same slowness, and then after some time the slowness dissappear and goes normal. What can it be?
Thanks
That happens because you are running too many processes at the same time, try killing some via Adv. Task Killer, then tell me if it works. And the slow boot is because there are too many apps (you said ONLY 40 ) when I had 50 it was Very Very Very slow, then I uninstalled some of them and its very quick now. Or the slow boot is because of your rom, try MiniCM7 Pro by paul-xxx, its very good, fast and stable.
Hope it helps you

Thanks for anwering, are 40 apps too much? I thought the phone would slow at 150 apps or sth lol.
I have the custom firmware 2.1 sony, and I dont know much about roms like MiniCM7, Saw them in a lot of topics but never understood, are they firmwares? The apps I have installed in my phone with SE firmware will work in that rom? Does multitouch works there?
Really thanks
By the sounds of it you should read a bit more so you understand what were on about before you think about cm or custom roms or pm I will explain a bit better

It becomes slow with 150 apps only if you have a very good processor and RAM, but if not you just [email protected]* your cellphone. And the custom roms are like new Android versions, for example I use MiniCM7 Pro (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1201116), its very quick and stable, so I installed it via CWMrecovery (if you want root and install xrec: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=913136). And so I'm using Gingerbread now on my cellphone. If you need help PM me
There is actually nothing wrong with 150 apps. It's just the apps that self launch as services in the background that cause the memory issues.
Actually having 150 launcher draw icons could have some impact.

High Ram Usage Issue

Hello
Yes, yes I know i'm a noob...but one that need help.. So please Help me and i proomise i'll thank
I got my Samsung Galasy S II GT-I900G about a month ago, I've been turning it off every night so that It can charge. Like a week ago for some reason I didnt and in the middle of the next day the RAM got to about 560MB/0.91GB and then after a while it got stuck while i was sending an SMS. I had to take the battery out and and turn it on for it to start working again. I'm not that much of a hardcore gamer or phone user. I dont know why my phone would do this. I have deleted all my apps and still the same problem so its definetly not a leaky app. It gets stuck and then i have to take the battery out !
My phone has 2.3.4 android version
If you need any other information, let me know and i'll post it... But PLEASE help me.
I'm desperate here
My Phone:
Model Number:GTI900G
Android version: 2.3.4
Kernel Version: [email protected]#2
Build Number: GINGERBREAK.JPKH8

I just have the i9100 not the g. So i dont know whats the difference in phones. Is your phone rooted? Are u using a 3rd party sms app?
looks like an iphone but powered by android baby!!!!
Try to figure out wich apps are actually using all this Ram with some tools found on the market.
After that you could delete those apps, or freeze it (with anttek for example)
If this doesn't work, perhaps flash another Kernel :/
Different processor

Try Androis Assistant from market
i use the stock active applications widget. You can check ram and 'clear memory' to remove cached processes. or reach it buy holding down the menu button and selecting task manager
From what i figured out i think this is not only active running ram, but includes applications you have used since your phone was turned on...not drawing any power,,,just in limbo (cached) until you need them again. Thus they start up faster and don;t consume extra power when starting up again.
settings- applications- running-- shows active background apps and you can see how much ram they need. hit the menu button again you can selected 'cached'. This will show cached apps.
Your phone should not slow down with 500-600 ram useage considering most of it is cached ram. Ram not being used is wasted ram on an android device
My s2 fluctuates between 280 and 570 ram used and is still equally zippy
If it happens again you might want to flash a different kernal or you have a dodgy app i suspect
If i am mistaken please correct me
@androidkid311: Thanks for your reply .. and No my phone isn't rooted, and I have yet to update it... and Right now my phone is free of any apps except for the system ones...
@staik: Thank you for replying... Could you please tell me about an app that will help me monitor my ram usage?? and all my apps are already deleted...other then system apps.. I cant use anttek cause my phone isnt rooted :/
@MistahBungle: haha Thanks
@umarian: Thanks for your response , i'll try it and get right back to you...
@IronMit: Thank you for such an explanatory response . I use task manager to close active apps and clear memory about 20-30 times a day... and when i turn my phone on i go into the running applications and stop all the useless apps like google maps and social hub and stuff... does nothing to help.
Right now there are no apps on my phone except for the system apps ! and i know i think the same unused ram is wasted ram but it freezes my phone so :/
How do you flash a kernel anyways?? Sorry if i'm being unbearably stupid but....gotta learn right??
Thank you everyone for your response....though my problem is yet to be solved
How do you flash a kernel anyways?? Sorry if i'm being unbearably stupid but....gotta learn right??
Same as firmware flash kernel in ODIN via PDA instructions with kernels .
or if you have CWM and root some are CWM flashable
like
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1357020
jje
You have to root to flash another kernel...I dont want to root my phone just yet...In case nothing works and I have to take the phone back... Rooting it would void my warranty :/
You can always flash a stock Samsung firmware with a different kernel or even flash a stock kernel .
Neither of which require root .
Kernel does not require CWM or Root to flash via ODIN .

You are not supposed to ask for the Best ROMS which is not allowed..!! Sorry mate.. If you ever want to download a Custom ROM please look at its Specifications,Reviews,Your Requirements,ROM Updates etc.... but you shouldn't ask for the BEST ROM.. since each ROM has its own uniqueness
I cannot resist now to press the report button now.. doing it just because its clearly specified in XDA Rules regarding these kind of requests
First of all Free up some ram :-
1.use custom kernels
2.use Disable service app from googleplay to disables all the unwanted programs
3.use system app remover download it from googleplay too to uninstall all the unwanted apps which r running at the backgroung and consumes lot of rams
4. Disable or Uninstall Unused Apps
6.Limit or Disable Background Data
7.Toggle Autosync data to off and tap Ok on the warning that comes up
Toggle all types of data syncing to off, including email, contacts and calenda
8.use Xbooster download frm googleplay to free up some ram
9.Check the internal memory space. A low internal memory might be the reason behind any severe lag that your phone is experiencing.
10.Restart the phone once in a day. This is a temporary option, but it works!
11.Overclocking your phone's processor. This will ultimately speed up your phone, but will eat up more battery juice than before.
Hit thnx if i helped you.. :fingers-crossed::fingers-crossed:

high RAM usage

Hi,
I have gs3, rooted, running on stock firmware 4.1.2.
the problem im facing is usually after a day of usage, the ram reaches 700mb. and even when I try to clear ram, it only closes 1 app and doesnt clear much of my ram.
I have done some research regarding this issue, and I know how linux handle ram differently than windows, but this high consumption of ram really is lagging down my phone. (harder to type, delay when flipping through home screen etc)
any solution for this? is there an app that really "clears" up ram?
thanks in advance.

Install Greenify from the Google Playstore and use it to hibernate the memory hogging apps. That will also help save your battery. Also, never close apps forcibly.
See multiple identical posts try and actually understand android and how it uses ram .
As said Greenify + Startup Manager +360 Mobile Safe + Update Firmware .
Lag is usually firmware have a look at Lag Fix also .

im still using stock firmware, would try to play around with custom firmware in near future.
