Seriously, the whole rooting proccess on 7500 takes about 30 seconds. You need to do exactly what's outlined in this thread.

RETAIL 3G

1. Download this Root.zip file to your tablet and move it to root directory of tablet storage. (you can also download on comp. then transfer to tablet)
2. Reboot tab and go into recovery mode and apply the root.zip you just downloaded.
3. Then reboot
rooted already
For CWM
1. After rooting download and install Rom Manager from market.
2. open Rom Manager app and have it install clockwork Mod to your device, you should see your device listed within Rom manager.
3. Done.

It doesn't wipe any data, it simply installs root. If you need CWM you need to do the "For CWM" steps.

After reading this post, I remembered a funny thing,
I accidently downloaded the 7510 files instead of the 7500 files when i rooted my tab.... The thing is that I rooted with no problems and it worked great.
how can this happen? Is this normal?

Root on 7500
Hi! I want to be sure of something before doing it...
I want to become root on my 7500 I can't afford to lose any thing on it (apps, data, settings...) because it's not my tab.
So by downloading the RETAIL 3G [GTP7500] root.zip, and going into recovery mode to install the zip, will I lose something or not? Someone said in this post that no data is wiped, but in there:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1171089
They say that install a rom in going to wipe all the apps... and I feel like it's what we do here since we are in the recovery mode.
Anyway, thanks for any precisions.

This has been answered several times in this thread.
Installing a custom recovery and installing Superuser does not cause you to lose data. You'll end up with a rooted, but still stock, tablet. All of your data will still be there unless you do something else, like installing a custom ROM.
Download cwm recovery.md5 from droidbasement
Do some odin, install superuser.

It could be possible that the binary of SU is not updated. try downloading superSU in google store to see what happens.
If that will not work, yes you can root gain your phone using CF root kernel then try flashing another kernel like siyah, speedmod etc.

Hello guys
First of all, I'm sorry to bump an old thread. But I guess it would be better than making a new one
I got my SGS2 from my sister few days ago and I tried to root it. After I did everything instructed by all tutorials I've read, I still can't use CWM Manager. It said just like above posts.
What I did:
1. Root the phone (already tried with 2 different kernels, the LP7s)
2. Open the SuperUser app. The app didn't give any options when I first opened it (like some tutorials do), it only gave 'Okay' to click.
3. Open CWM Manager and you all know the rest
4. Tried to install SU Updater fixer, but the app told me that there are no problems detected.
Then, I found out that I also had a problem connecting to wifi after I root (stuck in obtaining IP address). I didn't have the problem when first I use the device from my sister.
Waiting for your kindly replies. Thank you in advance

OT-995 is already rooted here.
You can download and try some other methods here and here and here.
The User Manual says it's a Platform MTK6573 processor.
This site says that is a dualcore from MTK6573 (650MHz) and NXP SGA531 (208 MHz).
This is the beginning of de OT-991 community, good luck everybody!
Are the speed and batterylife OK?
If I buy this phone and we succeed with rooting, I'll try to make a custom ROM.
Rooting Alcatel
You can always try Gingerbreak 1.2 version just google it
Unfortunately Gingerbreak 1.2 doesn't work on 2.3.3+. SuperOneClick stops in Step 7 and Universal Androot fails (the message is: No ~Fu goo ~ )
Battery lasts two to three days, depending on the usage. The speed is just fine but since the phone is unrooted I haven't installed too many applications yet.
This is the progress so far.
Maybe Googling some errors can help. It could be a problem on your computer or your USB cable, therefore somebody else should try too.
I'm doubting between the Samsung Galaxy Ace and the Alcatel OT-991. If we can root it, I'll buy the 991. If not, I think I'll just pay more and go for the Ace.
yes unlock root not working also not working:z4root,universalroot,and other apk xd,so some idea??
Great phone but we need Root the phone because is inpossible to instal more apps. Please someone came with the root for this phone.
I think that all those apps don't support this phone yet. There is another way to root, which is already mentioned before:

I don't know much about this but you have to press some buttons to get in a special menu where you can update your phone with a .zip file. That's a way to root and flash a ROM. Since I don't have this phone, I can't try, but I'll try to help you.
You can find more in this thread. Try some key combinations and if you can get into this menu. Good luck! I don't think this .zip file will work, but we can try others and make our own (with Google and a little help).

Volume down is download mode.
Hold menu, power and volume up at the same time.
If you have a custom recovery (likw cwm ClockWorkMod) then you would be able to flash a dorimanx kernel (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1617219) I would download a 7.x version (newest) and flash it through cwm. Or, of course, if you want a different rom then flash the rom like Muthzer the One said.

[Q] Install a custom recovery without PC and root

Hello everyone,
I tryed multiple time to flash my phone (original ROM) with Odin and other software. Every time the connection cannot be established. I have tried with different computers and different cables, including the original one. I came to the conclusion that Micro USB connector in my phone is broken. I can still recharge but data transfer is not possible.
I have an SD card where i can put a ROM in order to update my phone. But if i'm correct that isn't possible if I don't have ClockworkMod Recovery.
So finaly my question: Is it possible to root install a custom recovery without a cable and without root?
So in oder words: If it's not rooted and i have the Stocked recovery I can't do anything without the usb connector.

I would like both. But at this moment I have no USB connector (broken). So I have some kind of a boostrap issue.
Without root no flashing from device
Without custom recovery no root and no other rom.
You need to look for a custom recovery that can be flashed using the update.zip facility in stock. I'm not aware of one but happy searching.

Then you have to flash a "CF-root.tar" file with odin. Then your stock kernel will be rooted, su will be installed and also a custom recovery.
In most cases it will be CWM..... ..... Happy Flashing

Sounds great, but i can't find any signed custom recovery... I'm now downloading the whole internet on my PC so i can perform a grep...
The issue is that i can't use ODIN because my USB connector is broken.

I would like both. But at this moment I have no USB connector (broken). So I have some kind of a boostrap issue.
Without root no flashing from device
Without custom recovery no root and no other rom.

Thats r8
But there could or is the possibility to root phones with an "odin root apk" .But i think one should not do it in this way
cause you could break your device....The download mode with an odin program and an USB connection to your phone
is the only way.
Same problem.
