Hey guys,
I was wondering if anyone knew of a nice gallery app that is similar in smoothness to the sense app?

I don't know why people love the Zoes so much, I hated the Sense gallery app, I just a nice, no frills way to organize & view my images, not give fancy slide shows for others
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
Haha, I suppose that's the beauty of android - a tailored experience for everyone. I like how you can have events organized by location and I do enjoy the preview slide shows.
Zoes: I like the 3 second snap shots. They're annoying to share but a neat way to remember an experience.

"A tailored experience for everyone" - I like it! I'll have to remember that phrase especially when I'm talking to Apple users.
I'm also intrigued by the Zoes, but have some mixed feelings about them. I tried to use them to take little "action shots" but found the timing to be very difficult to get right (sometimes it seems like the interesting part happens just after it stops, or it takes a moment to focus and you miss the beginning). It'd be nice to be able to tweak the duration, which got me thinking why not just have it where you press and hold the camera button and it does video/stills until you let go? Then I thought wait, why am I doing this again, why don't I just record a short video in the first place?
Not sure what the answers are, but I like that we're trying new ideas.

I still cannot find a better exchange email and calender application then stock Sence 5

quick pic > all
If you're taking zones for grabbing still frames, you can press the camera button and hold to get burst shots. You can also take video and then grab frames from that.

Let me start off by saying I don't know too much about any technicalities or requirements needed by hardware for applications. This is simply an idea.
Now how possible would it be to have an app/live wallpaper that uses the camera either front, back or both and overlays the home screen entirely. In other words having a realtime camera feed as a live background.
Again its an idea but there can be a feature able to instantly screenshot an image from the actual feed and use it as a stationary wallpaper on the go or just as an easier way to take a photo.
The world is your background. Let's say I have the wallpaper applied and I see a interesting wall with graffiti. I can pull out the phone either record a short 5-10 second clip or snap a picture to use as my wallpaper with ease.
Any feedback as to the likelihood of something like this or similar being possible is welcomed.

I think I've seen this already. There was a app like this that even took screen pictures.

Here's one on the market:

I'm using one, and it works, and it's free, called "camera through wallpaper" by "chikashi yajima". On the market
I'm a bit late but thanks nonetheless to you guys that gave some input. I tried them all and found my favorite "camera through wallpaper" by Chikashi Yajima

I imagine that would be a major battery hog, but very cool to show off your phone.

Battery Hog it is. I've used it to show off a couple times but to use it daily i would need a double stacked extended battery.
Nice app called Display Brightness. Posting this so people will stop starting threads asking how they can do this on ICS. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=rubberbigpepper.DisplayBrightness&hl=en
i'd thank ya but ya had to be a wise guy about it.
tx --- art.
thanks i like the app !
After trying this app today i can readily say it's terrible compared to the stock feature in GB.

I like it enough to put it on all my phones. I got bettter battery life because I could easily manage the screen brightness.
People if you use a free app think about making a donation. The link is on the settings.

If you actually take the time to configure it the app is very nice. For example, set location to top, make bar wide, make fully transparent...and it operates very much like the stock with more features.
work great

Is it possible? For me its just a wasted home screen and annoying that the phone likes to default to it as the default home screen. Anyone else feel like Sense 5 would be better without it?

The only way to "disable" blinkfeed currently is to not set anything up and to set another screen as your home screen. It will still be sitting there on the far left, but ignorance is bliss, so you just don't swipe too far left. LOL I'm sure it will come with time, but the developers are still concentrating on getting all the bugs out before they start working on the tweaks.
You can just set a different homescreen as the default one.

On your HTC One Home Screen just swipe to left.
Just tap and hold on any blank area of the screen.
A Panel will appear on the top. From the available panel, you can set one as your alternative to BlinkFeed. Just tap and drag the panel you wish to set it as home screen. Drag the panel to “Set as home”.

Same here. At first I was like "What is this garbage???"
But after using it for some time now, I really like it. It is a great content delivery vehicle, and honestly has made twitter something enjoyable now.
I hated and despised blinkfeed to begin with. Eventually I kinda grew to it. Only have my Twitter feed instead of FB and all that going to it. Quite useful now.

I've noticed that too. I'm also I'm disappointed they didn't add more sources or add the ability for us to add our own. :/
More sources would of been a welcome refresh. Now i have to see my dock in the feed as well that cuts down the viewing area of the already small tiles.
Oh well, the other changes outweigh this small one.
I do like back button sending you to the top instead of having to hit the status bar. I wasnt that accurate and normally opened the top story on the first try

They also had it so you could hit Home while on the blink feed to jump back to the top since 4.1.2
I haven't seen anyone talk about this launcher, but it is awesome. Yes, you have to pay for it, but with the amount of customizations available it's well worth it. I know I'm a newb around here, and this post may not be taken seriously, but I thought I'd try to get a great dev paid to keep up such great work. Best feature that I've been looking for for over a year is being able to put widgets inside a folder on your home screen.
And that's my 2 cents. Please don't be too harsh, remember I'm a newb around here.

Be easy on the noob, but this should be in the Themes and Apps section of the forum. Hopefully a mod moves it.
But back to the launcher, looks cool but I prefer TouchWiz, I'm one of those

This is the "Tasker" of launchers. It's incredibly powerful & customizable. Just a bit of a learning curve. But much like with Tasker, once you do a few things, the rest gets a lot easier to figure out.
I actually got frustrated the first time I tried the free Lightning Launcher. And gave up on it the first day.
Read your thread and got the ambition to try it out again.
Really glad I did.
Nova Prime has been outstanding for me, but I was missing some customization options and Nova Prime developer team has not responded to my inquiries. So I'm going to double-down and watch a couple Lightning Launcher videos and figure it out.
I really, really like that it lets you have multiple home screen/profile setups. So if I'm right, I can pull up a different homescreen setup for each Tasker profile I have set up.
Also, there are profile/themes you can download from Play Store that give you some pre-arranged fancy-ass customization. Just to get you started.
Tsf shell is the best launcher I've found.

Keep in mind that widgets slow down folder performance by a tiny bit.

I have tried lightning launcher and will say that it was one of the most horrid launchers on the market....using the s4 the only launcher I can say is pretty decent is nova prime and solo launcher....both are perfect launchers with no glitches and tons of customizations and themes

Not for the faint of heart...
I love Lightning Launcher and can't say I did the first 5 times I tried it. At first, it is very intimidating for those that are used to the normal/simple way of laying out your homescreen/desktop. I have tried pretty much every launcher out there and love the benefits everyone provides, but have to admit, they are all essentially the same ole desktop, offering nothing truly innovative.
If you want to see the power of LLX, are worried about bugs and improvements, check the Google plus community: https://plus.google.com/115359051724948606262/
Again, this is only for those experienced enough that want something absolutely unique. If you are content with basic folders, simply swiping left/right and having the normal desktop setup this wont be for you. If you actually want freedom to make your desktop look the way you want, give LL a try.
LLX
I haven't had any problems with it at all. The customization is still amazing, and everyone in the g+ forum is nice and helpful.
