I am new to TouchWiz and the GS4. I just spent like 20 minutes trying to figure this out. Figured I would share. In the status bar, there is an icon that is usually the left most icon in the right aligned group. It looks like crosshair with a border around the outside with three curved lines coming out of the right side. That icon is for E911. And "can't be turned off."

After figuring this out I now understand why the custom roms remove this since it "can't be removed" in stock.

Hi, I'm on AOKP-Neo 1.5 Linaro! [AOSP 4.0.4] my first real run with an AOSP rom, usually sense. Here is what happens, I recieve a text, it flashes across the top and then disapears from the bar. Same thing with Gmail. In sense roms if I get a text the message flashes across the top, like this, but then a message icon stayed in the top left corner. Now when I turn on my phone I have to look for led or pull down the notifications. Trying to clarify if this is native to ICS or if I can adjust a setting to keep the small icon in the corner until openning.
Not a big deal, just the way I liked it. I understand I can change my ringtone louder and the frequency of the led, just hoping to keep something in that top left corner. Heart will be warmed by answer.
Can't say that I've ever had that issue. Did you change any status bar options in ROM Control that might have affected it?
Notification Icon Transparency! Haha, i thought that was for the bar itself. Thanks for getting me there!
Maybe I'm just crazy and haven't noticed these before, but today I noticed a Verizon Wireless text across the top of the lock screen and also the bottom of the notification shade. I know the notification shade is pretty standard, but I don't recall seeing either of those before today.
Right before I noticed this, I saw "Refreshing SIM Data" pop up twice as a toast notification while I was in the Play Store.
Is this Verizon getting us back for putting stickers over the home button or has this always been there?

I am not positive, but I think those were always there.
Hey TrueSmart users. For those of us that use Nova Launcher by default - the status bar doesn't show in any app besides a few seconds in app transitions. I've tried "always show" status bar apps, gestures, Xposed modifications, etc - still nothing. It's like our status bar is a different species of status bars... Anyone have any luck (or not have this problem at all with Nova)? I'm curious to know.
For any launcher other than what comes on the watch you have to use swipe status bar and enable "alternative mode".

I mentioned that in another thread, it's a bit of a pain because it blocks part of the screen for clicks. Ehhh....
Until somebody pretty much rewrites the UI/Framework it's all we got.

Open swipe status bar. scroll down to "Try it". move the slider for area poition and area width all the way to the right, adjust sensitivity all the way to the left. this reduces the non-clickacble area to a sliver and i've not encountered it interfering with anything.
I never held a notch phone, but the poco has got my attention because of the price, I was wondering what happens when you've a lot of icons on one side of the notch, i usually have battery %, network signal, vpn icon, wi-fi icon, BT icon, and you could have even more...
My question is: what happens when you have all those things active on a notch this small? do they stay hidden or they go to other place? It looks like it only has enough space for time on one side and enough for 3 or 4 icons on the other side.
Of course the icons will be distributed over the status bar less the notch, I think.
I'm guessing the same thing as happens with a regular phone when you have too many icons on the status bar. They disappear off the screen and you have instead a symbol indicating that several icons are hidden
Should look something like this, weblink can be found in file name.
On Pie and rooted. Is there any way to fix the "4 status bar icons max" issue?
Hello! I've searched far and wide and have read tons of complaints about this issue, but no resolutions. Those complaining posts I found were from several months ago, so I was hoping maybe a resolution came about.
It seems as though for whatever reason (possibly due to phones now having notches), Google has made it so there can be no more than 4 notification icons in the system tray. This is extremely aggravating to me. I typically have my weather app showing me the temperature in the status bar, and now I can't see that any more without swiping down. I also have no idea if I have a new notification from eBay because Wunderlist and my text notification icon take up those spaces.
There is PLENTY of room on my status bar for more notifications, so this stupid "dot" is annoying me to no end. My phone is rooted. Is there any way to double the height of the status bar so I can see all my notifications? Or if that's not an option, is there a way to just tell Android Pie to behave like Oreo and just show me all of the notification icons it can fit in my status bar?
Again I am rooted, on Pie, on an original Pixel XL, so I am hoping there's some answers out there for me, but I am not finding anything. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!
