Any way to increase BlueTooth signal strength/range? - AT&T LG Optimus G

I just notice that I can't walk too far away from the phone without BT losing signal and disconnecting. I was curious if there is a software method or anything that will allow us to boost signal strenght? Thanks in advance for any advise, suggestions.

I have two headsets and get sixty or more feet with one. The other less than twenty.

Interesting, so you believe it might be more bt headset specific rather that power or signal output strength from our lgog's?

I didn't notice any decrease in range with older headset when I switched from S2 to OG. New headset with OG has a lot further range.

See, what's weird is that if I hook up my LG HBS-730 to my SGS2, the range seems better than it is on my LGOG.

I had gotten rid of the S2 before getting newer headset. It may be that the older headset's range was so bad that the phones range wasn't a factor.

Horrible Bluetooth Range

I did search didnt see it addressed so figured id see if anyone else has issues with Bluetooth. Ive tried my bluetooth headphones and speakers with 2 other phones and my tablets and have no issues. With my note im lucky if i can get more than 5 ft of range before it starts breaking up. Im currently running bigfau blackstar rom. Tried stock and cm10 jb but none made any difference in bluetooth. Also tried without my case still no change. Thank you for any input

I use my bt all day, every day for both phone and music and haven't noticed any difference between rooms, and I've tried a bunch.
That's strange. I have a set of Beats Wireless BT headphones.
I can be quite far from the phone with them still working fine. I've tried on all the ROMs I've tried; mainly CM9, PA (earlier), AOKP, etc.
Just for giggles, remove a case if you're using one and see if it improves. A TPU or plastic type case shouldn't matter, but just isolate it as a problem.
I use BT Tether between my phone and tablet reliably 5+ feet away, and my BT GPS works for at least 5 feet (and that's about norm for how far it goes; small antenna on its side), so all seems about on par to what I'm personally used to.

Speaker squeal?

I haven't seen a thread like this but its really annoying. When I plug my phone into certain speakers and the data arrows come on, a loud squealing noise come from the speakers. Wondering if anyone else has experienced this problem?

It's feedback from the 4G radios interfering with the amp I believe. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong though.

Aside from that? Due to this phones limited onboard storage I frequently stream music from my Google Play account. And its kinda hard to do that in airplane mode lol

try connecting to wifi if you can. It is interfering with the speaker.
I know my gaming headset crackels whenever I get a text message without it being connected to the headset, it is just interfering with the speakers

Hmmm makes sense. Is there any way to disable the amp if that's what's getting interference?

Its actually not headphones. I use the beats that came with my Rezound. Its only with speakers it seems like
Sent from my HTC6435LVW using Tapatalk 2
Sounds like it only seems to happen on low impedance speakers/inputs. You might just need to stick with headphones or use some kind of external pre-amp. This is somewhat disappointing news, although I don't listen to music from my phone much.
Noticed crackling and static when on 4G streams of Pandora. Happens with headphones or hooked up to a mixer and speakers (higher impedance). Doesn't happen with the WiFi enabled for streaming, so I'm going to say Argumentation's explanation seems spot on... Just thinking out loud here, but would there be a way to slow down to 3G speeds for streaming? Sounds counter-intuitive as far as speed is concerned, but if it's the 4G that's causing interference, then maybe that will take care of it?

[Q] Does anyone have a method to minimalize buzzing through the headphone jack?

It is seriously getting on my nerves and turning off the radios does nothing.
Turn off beats.

That's not the only problem. When you stream through Google Music or Pandora or even YouTube, (WiFi or not) the 4G LTE radio causes another buzzing. HTC has confirmed this, but has yet to release a fix.

Yeah. Spotify, YouTube, PowerAmp are the apps I use. And all get the annoying buzz.
That headphone amp doesn't do us much good with all this buzz...

There really is no fix possible, it's not a software problem, it's hardware.
You may also have a defect in your device. I've never heard buzz and us Google Music and beats...

Sane here. This is the first phone I've used that doesn't give me a buzz when using the headphone jack with a an aux plug to a car stereo using any apps. Beats on or off.

I actually have noticed this as well. Even though I wouldn't consider by JVC XX crappy or cheap, they do buzz while my klipsch do not.
Since, from what I have read, only a handful of us are experiencing this issue, I can only assume that only a handful of the devices are defective. So, I called up verizon yesterday and told them that my DNA has a hardware defect, and they are sending me a brand new device! (the DNAs are so new that they don't have refurbished ones yet)

But it also happens through the speaker for me on low volumes.

Was it really that easy? It seems as if my problem is getting worse with time, you think they will send me one without hassle?
I got it through a third party verizon store, do you think that will be an issue?

Bluetooth Audio Volume

With my phone connected to my car stereo via bluetooth, the volume seems considerably low compared to my rezound, which was even lower than my thunderbolt. Phone and deck are both maxed out.
Tried various EQ apps, not much difference..
On stock rom, not rooted.
Anyone else have this issue?

Are you on the OTA update?
My Bluetooth headset has very low volume which has been reported by others. I was hoping this was fixed in the OTA.
Yes im on update.
Sent from my HTC6435LVW using Tapatalk 2
You're not the only one. I've spent most of my time in the Android Central forums and same issue reported there as well. Update seems to have improved connecting but quality hasn't changed much. Personally speaking my Plantronics Voyager worked great on my Samsung Fascinate but on the DNA ... well let's just say a toaster would do a better job with audio.

Can't say I've had the same problem with Korean car head units, Ford Sync units, LG HBS 700 headphones, and an older Jawbone Prime. All have worked fine, and in the case of the LG headphones, I have to operate them both at significantly lower than full volume on both.

Are any of the custom roms better with this issue?
Sent from my HTC6435LVW using Tapatalk 2
No.
I've tried replacing the HTC BT drivers with both stock drivers and CAF drivers and neither made any difference that I could tell.
Dsb9938 pulled an alternative user space stack from somewhere and that didn't change anything for me either.

Horrible bluetooth?

So I have had bluetooth problems with this phone sine day one.. On all my roms and even after getting a replacement phone. I also have used 3 different bluetooth headsets on it.. Is this just me or a wide spread problem?

I did have some problems before and most of the time it was fixed by increasing the max frequency while screen was off ( I was using viper rom or meanbean), I don't know what rom you are having trouble with and also Bluetooth is really sensitive to interference specially in open spaces, I work outside and I've noticed that if I wave my hand right next to my handset while on a phone call, I get the static and crackling noise you might be referring to, but if I'm in my house I dont get the same result... What rom are you using? Kernel? Scheduler? Or app to set your frequencies? I'm on cm 10.1 and this is my second replacement which doesn't like over clock without the kernel stabilizer made by Viperboy and I'm currently using Komodo rls 30, I don't have that static anymore... :good:
Hatkalte 1.3.2... But it happens on all roms. Also it crackles and then disconnects and then reconnects.. And then cycles again.. It's so annoying.

Ok, my bluetooth died at the end and would not be recognized nor recognize any device that I had previously paired with my phone so I had to use VipeRuu and got it replaced, this is my second replacement after that bluetooth failure... Good luck, you might have a hardware issue like mine was, I won't be surprised if in a couple days it dies completely just like my original evo lte, have you tried stock rom?
Sent from my EVO
I've had issues as well. The best performance I had was on an aosp rom. I was able to walk a crossed 8 bays and through a door and still pick up my music playing. I've noticed sometimes while doing yard work that the music would be very choppy. My buddy has an lte and the same LG tone headset and has the same problems. Hopefully when I get my new s4 my problems will be solved. I'll report back when I verify if it is the phone or the headset or just bluetooth in general.
