s3 i9300 not charging - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

i have flashed my stock rom 4.1.2 after flashing cm10.1.Now my phone is not charging by stock charger and also by using usb via pc..what should i do.at starting it was charging now its not charging.i had tried with another charger also its showing that phone is charging.but battery level is not increasing at all.PC is not able to detect my phone also..before this problem started i transferred files.please help me out

Try flashing a stock rom again, download it from sammobile and use odin on your pc.
If it's still the same then try another battery, after that you need a service centre repair.

previously after flashing stock rom it was official but count was 1.after phone charging stopped i used triangle away app to reset it..but device status was modified.but now everything changed once again..

Download mode is still working, so connect the phone to your pc while that screen is displayed and flash the stock rom - the rom currently installed is not a stock rom, so you went wrong previously.
If your phone won't connect then try another lead and pc. If it still won't work then your charging problem may be due to a faulty usb socket. You can also flash using mobile odin.

Read the other phone not charging threads for further clues .

i am now on cm 10.1.earlier it was charging when i was on cm10.1.then flashed stock rom it all went fine for one day before it has stopped charging.that means it not a rom problem?

It depends if you changed anything during that day, if you left the phone fully stock and it still went wrong then it's probably a hardware fault.

i did cache clean of apps running using clean master app.will that effect anything.i opened license file to see what it is..more than that i did nothing..

No idea, you're best off flashing a fresh installation of the stock rom and using it for a few days without installing or restoring any apps or data. Sounds like a hardware fault though.

[Q] Galaxy s2 Brick

Hey,, I recently got my galaxy s2 and im new in the android thing,, i want to flash my phone to litening rom but im worried that i might brick it,, what are the chances that i may brick my phone? tnx and more power
The risk is very small as long as you follow the instructions to the letter. Read from start to finish a few times before doing anything and double check everything. It's actually all very easy and straightforward
Edit: and have a look at the thread about backing up your EFS folder before flashing (you'll need root) it's in the dev section somewhere.

But how hard is it to really brick a SGS2 ?
I think i read about 1 person who couldnt get his phone up and running again .
SGS2 i belive is really hard to brick.
Sorry for my bad english
There are enough who totally brick a phone in the course of a year . But its hard to do plenty of oh hell moments but recovered flashing stock rom .
Brick tends to be a misused term SGS brick means it should work after flashing stock rom via odin . Other phones brick means dead phone return to factory no hope .

As long as you never tick "Re-Partition" and insert the PIT in Odin its almost imposable to brick unless you somehow nuke the bootloader(which you shouldn't be able todo via flashing custom roms).
I dont even think theres much of a chance of radio bricks, worst that happens is that you have to re-flash.

As long as one of the (secondary) bootloaders is still intact and you can get into download-mode (maybe by using the USB jig), then yes.

If the service centre can't fix (when I sent mine to one they told me it was beyond economic repair) don't lose hope as this guy will probably be able to repair it for you: http://forum.xda-developers.com/member.php?u=1602851
Ended up being cheaper than if my local service centre had been able to repair it too.
Being new to flashing I was also very scared at the start. I was pulling my hair out when the first time I flashed a new rom and got stuck in a boot loop. Luckily I backed up the entire system and I was able to restore.
Make sure you do a back up of your system first.
The first time its scary, I had no nails after the first flash lol. But after that its fun, just make sure to read everything and follow the instructions to the letter.
Good Luck!!
Sim card not recognized
I have rooted by galaxy s2 and my phone fails to recognize the sim card and unfortunately I didn't backup my original rom to restore the previous settings
I tried various things: hard reset, install alternative (custom) roms all seem to have no effect on the sim card.
I am getting quite frustrtated with this, is there an original ROM for my location (GREECE, VODAFONE) to try with odin ? I should note that my mobile seems not to connect with the PC when I try to connect it via kies (odin works instead)
Is there a possibility that the phone's card sensors are physically damaged, thus return it for repairs ?
Thanks for your time

SGS2 - Download mode but no recovery
Hi!
I have a bit of a problem here as well when i was trying to flash back to the stock firmware. Now when I try to get to the clockwork recovery mod, I get the famous dead screen with symbols of mobile phone, exclamation point and a pc. I have been searching solution to this problem for hours now, and still I don't want to quit.
My previous custom rom was installed in with no problems. Litening rom 3.0.
Now, with usb jig i can get into the download mode, no problem there. It just seems that the traffic is just jammed.
Download mode works but Odin doesn't transfer anything. Gets stuck on the factoryfs.img while i'm trying to flash. Kies doesn't recognize the phone but pc recognizes the USB device with no problem. Original stock firmware doesn't load on the phone. Odin just stops transferring.
Things I've tried so far.
-Reflash (both litening rom again and stock firmware) with odin (Kies is not on while I do this, I checked)
-Kies (doesn't work)
-Download mode does work but it seems that phone doesn't accept any files.
-I tried the one-click unbrick which seemed to do something god but failed at the end.
What could I still try? I'm running out of options now.
I apologize for my bad english.

Is my phone bricked? If so, what do I do?

I was running Lite'ning Rom (v2.7 I think) until a few days ago until I flashed to the new version of resurrection (v.2.5.3), my phone worked for the last few days but now it seems that the battery is no longer charging either from AC or from USB. The battery is now at 0% and won't enter download mode and isn't recognised by Odin/Kies/etc...what can I do? Looking for any helpful advice at all. I think the phone itself is working fine apart from the charging issue! Thanks for any advice and apologies if this is a stupid question!
Edit: When switching roms, I followed the proper extended instructions (wipe data, cache, dalvik, etc.)

OK, I've managed to get it to turn on by leaving it connected to USB for a long period, it gets to the home screen (which is absent of icons) and then loads the android system page (which is absent of everything but the title). Then it goes off before I can do anything. Still haven't managed to get it into recovery/download mode though, it says that the battery is too low for download.

Ok, to update- I have reflashed resurrection rom via CWM and it is no different in terms of the problem. I have however worked out that it charges while in recovery mode which to me suggests all may not be lost...seems more like a software problem of some sort, no? I am downloading the stock 4.0.3 firmware and will flash via Odin, I'll see if that helps!

[Q] [SOLVED] i9100 USB issues?

Hi there,
A few days ago, I noticed my i9100 (international s2) was barely charing anymore. It would take ages (hours, literally!) to charge to 20 percent while off, and when on, it would even drain slowly while being charged. I switched to another charger and I had the same problem.
I decided to downgrade to official firmware (was on cm10.1 before), but noticed my computer wouldn't recognise my phone anymore. It wasn't a driver issue, because my ubuntu, my netbook and my tablet wouldn't see it either. In fact, there wouldn't even be a USB-debugging icon on my phone. Windows does, however, make the connected sound and my phone does charge.
I reinstalled stock firmware via CWM, but still nothing. So I'm sort of afraid this is a hardware issue. I'm looking to sell this phone within a month (I've bought a Nexus 4!) but I want it to be in working order.
Do I need to contact Samsung, or is there anything else I could do myself?
Thanks in advance.
edit > Additional info: Windows tells me my device has malfunctioned.
Replace USB flex in phone. If it's still under warranty, reset the flash counter & send it in. If there's no warranty, you can do it yourself. You can buy the parts cheaply online (Google search) & do it yourself, there are threads on here & a Google search should yield the info you need to change it. If you're not confident enough to do it yourself, buy the parts online & pay a local mobile shop to do it.

I'm still under warranty, so that shouldn't be a problem. I just wanted to confirm it was a hardware problem.
I'll try to reset the counter, then call Samsung. Thanks!
@lasic, Thanks, but since there also is a USB connectivity problem, I don't think a new battery will fix that.
Edit -> However, I've encountered a new problem. Because I've flash a CWM flashable ZIP, even my current ROM knows it's been tampered with. I can't use ODIN to flash an original factory image from sammobile.
Sounds a lot like it given what you described. Make sure you backup before you send it in, 'authorised repairers' are notorious for wiping phones/flashing new stock firmware regardless of what's wrong with the phone

Yeah I'm prepared for factory resets I'll make sure to back-up all my photos and carbon backups as well
When I try to connect my phone to Odin, it just doesn't see it, so it's the same problem. I don't think I can use USB to flash a stock rom anymore Right now, I've flashed a stock rom using CWM, rooted it, used TriangleAway and will probably unroot it after. But Samsung would be able to see the traces (such as wrong recovery, maybe more.
Ahhh OK. Perhaps flash a stock rom with Mobile Odin ? Also, there used to be CWM flashable stock roms somewhere in the General section. Or...Perhaps if there's an stock Kies/OTA update available, if you use that it should unroot your phone/give you stock recovery back.

[Q] My phone is Completely Dead - Help Me!

Today Evening i went out with my friends, and we took few photos on my mobile.. After that my friend gave my mobile by stating it got stucked. I looked into it, yes it got stucked.. Then i forced it to restart.. it could not start, stucked on bootscreen. so i simply removed the battery and put the mobile into my pocket. once after i reached my home, i started the mobile.. again it got stucked in bootscreen. Then i gone into recovery mode and flashed the same rom (neatrom v4.7) on it from my sd card. Then it got booted, after sometime again it restarted automatcally and stucked on bootscreen. This time i could not even get into recovery mode.. so i downloaded the official stock firmware to install via download mode. Then i tried to flash through odin. it did not got flashed or anything happened for nearly half an hour. so i removed the usb cable from the laptop, immediately phone screen got off.. when i tried to switch on or get into download mode.. my phone does not responds, it is dead. i tried many ways like removing battery and inserting charger while pressing on power button then inserting the battery at the same time. what did i wrong? help me plzzz friends.. what should i do now to get back my mobile?
You plugged out your phone from PC while downloading from Odin?!?!?You completely bricked your device now.Maybe it couldn't flash the kernel or the firmware...Now phone is of course dead. You need to buy a new motherboard.BTW,what firmware did you flash?Do you have I9100 or other variant?
When you flashed a stock ROM, did you flash a pit file as well?
If no, get a jig so you can get to Download mode.

Your initial problem of bootloop could have been easily solved, I don't know what the other people do but when I gave my custom rom installed phone to my brother for a couple of days his friends played with it walla.. Bootloop.. Fix as usual was easy, a cache and dalvik wipe fixed it otherwise a nuke script and a flash would have worked.
But pulling the cable out before flashing is completed or unless terminated by the app itself is a bad thing to do, really bad...

Bricked phone! Please help!

Hi.
Please read all of what I tried before suggesting something.
I have a S3 GT-I9300 international version. It's from Orange Israel and its warranty recently ended.
All of what I tried below has been done with the phone in the Download mode by turning it while holding the power, volume down and the home key, there is absolutely nothing else this phone can do, if I just normally power it on it'll get stuck on the Samsung Galaxy S3 screen, I can't even get to the animated Samsung logo. Kies is uninstalled completely and I have no AV.
Now here is what I tried so far:
1. Most forums said that I could try a regular flash via Odin by inserting the firmware.md5 file into the PDA section and flashing it, but that just makes Odin get stuck on the process (Setup Connection...) or give me this error [1st screenshot from the left]
2. I also tried attaching the .pit file for my 16GB S3 named (GT-I9300_mx_20120220.pit) alone but that makes Odin get stuck on this process as well [2nd screenshot from the left]
3. I tried attaching both .md5 and .pit files at the same time but it just also gets stuck on the (Setup Connection...) forever. And when I say stuck I don't mean Odin stops responding, I mean it just hangs on that process.
4. I looked in forums even more and they suggested I try different USB ports or cables and I did, still nothing.
5. I tried different Odin versions for all of the things I already tried.
6. I tried flashing different firmware versions for all of the things I already tried.
7.1. I downloaded Heimdall Suite and I tried to use it since a guy mentioned it helped him immensely by him just installing the drivers using the "zadig.exe" file and choosing his S3 from the All Devices list and installing the driver, however I encounter something different because the program has Replace Driver option that gives me this error [3rd screenshot from the left]
7.2. I later discovered that I can install the driver anyway by clicking the arrow next to the button and choosing Install WCID driver, that worked successfully, however it hasn't solved my problem like the guy on the forum, for him, the S3 started to get recognized by Odin and it flashed his device successfully, for me, it still gave me that error.
8. After I installed the driver from Zadig I launched Heimdall Suite in hopes of finally flashing my device but it gave me this error when trying to load up the .md5.gz [4th screenshot from the left]
9. I then proceeded to add the .pit file I downloaded earlier into the Flash tab in Heimdall tool and adding the boot.img because I think that should be enough to get it going, plus I don't know what else to put. It gave me this error [5th screenshot from the left]
I'll keep updating this post when I try new stuff, however I would like you guys to suggest things I haven't tried before or supply me with files I haven't found already (.pit files, firmwares I'm not aware of, etc.). Would appreciate any little help of sorting this problem out, the warranty ended so I don't know what am I gonna do if I don't get it fixed :/
Thanks.

Yep sounds bricked. If that's the case, send for repair. Your NAND is probably borked.
Out of interest, what does all the info on the screen say in download mode?

The problem with the S3 is that there really aren't many options before the last option. From what I can see, you have already tried them all.
It tells me you haven't got SDS, but we already knew you had a NAND issue, regardless of that. It was just a matter of interest.

I didn't mention that I also tried all of what I tried with Kies installed.
And it is SDS, I was just browsing through photos and the phone just locked up and restarted and couldn't get passed the GALAXY S3 flash screen, which is why I started trying all this crap, including flashing PIT. And the symptoms and behavior of the phone hasn't changed since the first time it restarted on me. So I definitely didn't change ANYTHING to the phone whatsoever.

It could be SDS. We've seen a few failures like this where download mode doesn't show SDS symptoms. It doesn't mean the result is not SDS. Its uncomfirmable.
SDS possible , Nand damaged itself possible but 90% of problems are user error .
That error is often in trying to smash their way out of trouble avoiding the simple correct method and throwing everything at the phone .Following stuff from multiple forums then asking help on XDA at the end when it is to late .
Whatever you have done in the past right or wrong does not matter it is now a service centre job .
Samsung generally offer 24 months limited warranty but would be likely to reject due to custom rom count .
