[Q] Will our tablets work with 64 Gig MicroSD Cards? - Xperia Tablet Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

If so, any recommendations?
Or if only a 32 gig will work, what do you guys use brand wise, class, etc?
Just want to make sure I get one that works well with the device.

It doea work with 64. I swap my card between the Tablet Z and my ZL all the time. You may need to format in the tablet. Then you can even read\write on a laptop.

If I'm not wrong (I always forget), the 32 GB Wifi model does not support 64GB MicroSDXC, only the 16GB models do. They also do not support exFAT (FAT64), only FAT32 and thus are limited to 4GB files. They only support a maximum of MicroSDHC 32GB, but support may be added in future patches - I believe similar functionality was patched to one of the XPERIA smartphones.
Currently only 16GB models support 64GB MicroSDXC and exFAT.
The sole exception is the Japanese SO-03E 32GB celluar model, which supports 64GB MicroSDXC and exFAT - it read my SanDisk Mobile Ultra (30MB/s) 64GB XC card flawlessly.

This is incorrect. I have the SGP312 and a Samsung 64GB MicroSDXC (and exFAT) work just fine in it.
The 16GB GSM/HSPA+/LTE Versions only support 32GB and no exFAT.

I second this information.
If you have a SGP311 or SGP312, you're good to go with the fastest 64GB MicroSD you can buy.
Taken from Sony Mobile:
[2] - SO-03E, SGP311, SGP312: SDXC up to 64GB
- SGP321 SGP351 SGP341: Up to 32GB

I found this information on many posts but tell me one thing: i have SGP321 and in the first day it worked correctly with Samsung SDXC 64GB (movies, pictures etc). After formatting micro SD card, tab doesn't see the card anymore. I made factory reset to tablet but it didn't help.
I still don't know how it happened, that tab worked with SDXC...
EDIT: after full formatting the card with exFAT (3-4h waiting), tab works correctly with SDXC

That's correct, exFAT is the format you need to use for the SD to be appropriately detected. I'm glad it went well for you.

actually, tab doesn't want to cooperate with SDXC 64GB from samsung... it sees the card but doesn't see content of it. ES Explorer also sees directories on micro SDXC but no files. Well... i have to buy new one, but 32GB

i believe, because SGP311 and SGP312 supports 64GB SDXC but SGP321 unfortunately doesn't...

wrong, sgp321 works with 64gb xtreme pro and exfat format without any issue... :good::good::good::good:

Maybe. Anyway my SGP321 doesn't work with samsung micro SDXC. IT worked once, on the beginning. Even sony says on webpage that xperia z supports 64gb bit in chosen models.
EDIT: after benchmark the card - ATTO disk benchmark and Crystal Disk informed me, that the card is class 4 - it's fake, not original Samsung, that's the solution of my problems... I wrote to seller complete information about my discoveries, he agreed to receive card back without any opposites. Damn it...

Just want to confirm that my 64 GB micro sd card works fine with exfat:
Type: SanDisk 64GB Class 10 Ultra Micro SDXC Memory Card (Silver/red)
on XTZ SGP312 (32GB-WIFI) / Android version 4.3

64gb microSD...

Do it work?
Galaxy S II phones say they only accept up to 32gb microSD cards and yet they happily accept 64gb cards. Was wondering if the tab 7.7 does as well?
Yes i have 2 sandisk 64gb class 6 micro sd cards,1 in my gs2 the other in my tab for 2 weeks now works perfectly.
Get it on sale here hurry:
http://www.adorama.com/IDSMUMSD64G.h...ce=rflaid62905
Yes it does
I can confirm both wifi and 3g can take the 64gb micro sd.
Yep, confirmed again here. I swap between 2 SanDisk 64GB microSD cards for my data and haven't had any issues.
Confirming the Verizon version i815 can accept Sandisk 64GB microSDXC.
I would get one for my 7.7 if that one mod that let's you swap the external and internal sdcard works with it. Has anyone tried it? With all the new high resolutions games and mapping data from offline navigation app, i'm running out of internal sdcard memory.
FYI, on an ICS rom (Skyfire) I was only able to get the Gtab to recognize my 64gb microsd card when formatted as FAT32. ExFat and NTFS were not recognized.
FWIW I've learned the hard way (3 dead 64gb cards) that they DO work but are 'fragile'. Just format fat32 using EaseUS (free) and you're good to go. The fragile part is that they seem to get corrupted at the slightest provication. Seems like any power interuption, no proper unmount or ejection, any early data flow termimation, whatever, will do it. Just be **very** careful in use and should be ok.

[Q] Maximum SDHC /SDXC Card Size for SII

Hi,
Could anyone that already has one, confirm if either of the following cards
SanDisk 64GB Micro SDXC Ultra Card
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B007JTKM30/ref=nosim/?tag=hotukdeals-21
or
SanDisk Ultra Android 64GB MicroSDHC Class 10 Bi-coloured Card with Adapter
http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B007WTAJ...de=asn&creative=22206&creativeASIN=B007WTAJTO
works in an SII with no Problems?
I have seen 1 report that it I think the SDXC works, but shows up as damaged, and you have to reformat in the phone. If this is done, can it still be read/written to in a PC card adapter?
Any info on both would be great, the SDHC is considerably cheaper though
Thanks

[Q] SGP321 and 64GB SDXC

I just got 64GB micro SDXC, put it into my Xperia Tablet Z SGP321 and found out, that it get unmounted after a while when I'm writing anything on sd card.
I though that this tablet has support for sd cards up to 64GB, but now I found out that 3G model has support only for sd cards up to 32GB.
Is there any way to use my 64GB card with this tablet?
My 4G/LTE version formatted my 64GB card up to 64GB perfectly fine.
Did you get the tablet to format it itself, or just stick it in straight from the packet?
I tried to format it in the tablet with no difference.
no problem with the 64GB and the SGP321 Android 4.2.2 ....

Same device, same FW...
Today I tried some full HD movies (8GB & 13GB) and few 700MB movies, copied using card reader connected to PC.
Then I put card into tablet, open one movie (it worked) and tried to skip to half of the movie. Card got unmounted but then automatically remount. I tried it again and it works now, I'm able to play all movies and skip forward/backward...
But still, when I try to copy some files to SD card in tablet, it got unmounted after short while (i.e. after 10MB).
I use SanDisk 64GB microSDXC class 10.
Maybe it's a fake?

I have a 64gb SanDisk and have also noticed the occasional. Usually during situations of heavy load. Works fine for the most part, just the occasional dismounts, and I know mines legit because it's straight from SanDisk after I rma'd my original one.
I had the same problem with SanDisk Ultra 64 GB card, now I replaced it with Patriot 64 GB Class 10 and everything is working fine.
No more unmounting issues

[Q] 128GB MicroSD shipping in 2-3 weeks

Hello,
Would the new 128GB MicroSD work on the S3 or would there need to be a software mod or will it not work at all due to hardware limitations?
not sure if the link will post but its available on amazon for $119...
The gs3 microsd slot only works with a max of 64 gb. U shld have known when u looked at the specs. At least tat is wat Samsung said.

Although I can't guarantee it I would guess it works. My HTC Desire spec said that it only supported up to 32GB but I used a 64GB card fine in it. When it was released 32GB was the largest card available. Same with the S3 in that the 64GB card was the largest at the time.
Theorically could work, as sometimes the limitation is more of the format of the card. For example, I use a 64 GB card in my s3 without problem, and, in other devices, I have read about the format of the card to change this.
For example, the nintendo 3DS can use an SD card of maximum 32 GB, but if you have an sd of 64 GB, but format it as fat 32, you are able to use it.
The only problem is that you'll need a specific tool, if you are using windows, to format cards large than 32GB to use Fat32
It might work. I've seen cheap chinese phones support 32gb so I hope a 128gb should be no problem for the S3. But for $119, it's better (and cheaper) not to risk it.

Yes, I use the 64 GB version. I believe they are the fastest microSD available.
All right I will buy it.
64 is overkill to me. 32gb is enough.
I see no point in buying such a fast card for the Z2.
