Irresistible Urge to Install CM10 - HTC Rezound

The topic says it all. Having said that, I am new to cm on rezound, I'm interested in the nightlies. I only entertain this because bluetooth is working for calls. I read up on flashing to the latest firmware (I'm one iteration behind the suggested one), flashing twrp recovery, I'm s-off, and the only thing that eludes me is the kernel. Does the kernel come with the nightly build? If so, Is it good to use? If not, hiro perhaps? Not really interested in tweaking voltage or overclocking, just want a smooth out of the box type kernel.
Anything I should expect or look out for? I'm coming from ecliptic rez

Yes it comes with a kernel, run it with it's defaults is what I suggest.
Make a back up of your current rom, if you're not happy with CM10.1, just do a restore.
Just keep in mind, your internal and SD Card mount points will change, internal is /emmc, SD Card is now /sdcard instead of /sdcard2. I'd back them up and clean off anything you don't need in those storage areas first.

Good call. Will the internal and external storage be erased? Is that common?

No just swapped. You get apps and things that normally cache to the internal storage on /sdcard now writing to the actual SD Card, that's the only reason I recommend cleaning up things, or back up the data on them and swap the contents.

That's good news. I hated how my internal would get mistaken for my external.

If you're s-off, you don't need to re-lock your phone... In the event you do, you can re-use the same token.

Thanks for answering these questions, very much appreciated... But if I RUU to update the hboot and the radios, won't I need to unlock the bootloader again to install a custom recovery or would the new hboot still be unlocked since I'm s-off prior to ruu?

RUU won't touch your s-off.
Run RUU.
Install TWRP.
Wipe and flash CM 10.1

I know it won't touch my s-off, just want to make sure once I RUU my bootloader won't have to be unlocked again. Thanks for confirming both.

S-off trumps all. If you are s-off, then it doesn't matter if your bootloader is locked/unlocked.

Success. What an amazing Rom so far...Been looking forward to this since my T-bolt.

Just an update... I suggest doing the RUU, flashing cm, boot it, then ruu and reflash. Helped for some reason.

Back to stock

i am currently running an ICS rom and need to return mine for another device since it is defected.
Can i just htcdev LOCK then flash the ruu renamed as PH98IMG.zip to get back to stock?
You can do that cause I think ruu is different than just flashing stock. I had an og evo and I flashed the stock and I still had s-off so best advice make sure there is an s-on utility for ur device then use the ruu to return to stock

That will work fine. You can also relock then run the RUU on a windows PC, but pretty much the same thing will be accomplished.
i flashed back to gb then did waht i stated in the op and all it did was lock me in the bootloader and now my phone is stuck no matter what it do.

I'm no expert but I think (if you made a Nandroid) you can extract the boot.img from the Nandroid then flash it and restore your stock Backup. I would also wipe / factory reset in recovery.
If you don't have a Nandroid backup you can download the RUU or a boot.img from a Rom like Scott's GB ROM and use one of those after you extract the boot.img.
I just did this today, I first flashed back to a gingerbread rom, then i unzipped the ruu and took the boot_signed.img from it, renamed it to boot than flashed it from fastboot. Then I put the ruu zip on my memory card (renamed it to ph98img) and fastboot OEM locked the device. I then rebooted the bootloader and applied the update.

I got it from scottsroms.com, I just downloaded the zip file in the ruu section, as for reverting back to a gingerbread Rom, I'm sure anyone of them would work (scotts clean rom has always done me well). I only say that because once you flash the boot image, your ics rom won't boot, so you can't place the ruu on the memory card, unless you have another way to mount your sd card to the computer (i.e. adapter, or another phone)

I believe all you have to do is pick the rom you want, install it and your good. The majority of them automatically takes you to hboot to flash the kernal, but not all of them, so make sure you read the instructions before you flash.

I wondered this as well. Most csr's don't seem to be as knowledgeable as the people here on xda. They also don't seem to have a lot of knowledge on particular devices besides the obvious specs. I really don't think anyone is going to boot into fastboot to see it's been relocked, or even know what that means.
I'm gonna gamble with it, I'm tired of the noise coming from the headphone Jack whenever I play music.

I just spoke with a Verizon tech on the phone last night, he told me that simply unlocking the phone would NOT void the warranty considering HTC is allowing it via their website. However he did say that any rooting/roms would void it immediately (if they can detect it of course).
So basically just put it back to stock and you are good?

I want to use the ICS that just came out recently. I am just confused if i need to go back to complete stock or not and how i even do that. I am currently using Senseless Redefined. Do i need to go back to stock somehow? Or do i just relock it and rename the ICS leak PH98IMG.zip?
You should always start from fresh when downloading new leakes. Keeps you from having as many bug/issues.

No need to go back to stock as the RUU will write over everything. All you need to do is backup your files (internal SD WILL get wiped) and rename the RUU to PH98IMG.zip and flash in bootloader.

New to HTC modding (Question)

After some headache, I installed Scotts ROM
[ROM / LEAK] 5/8 - Stock Rooted RUU 3.14.605.5 / Truly De-Odexed! / Root works
I read somewhere that the RUU had to be flashed twice and as the newb I am... I flashed it once.
My HBOOT is 2.11.0000
No idea what my radio is... It doesnt list it on the front of the bootloader menu.
Do I need to reflash? Should I rewipe?
I had 2 random reboots already.
I'm S-ON as well.

No that is not the case. Here is the latest leaked RUU
Rename it to PH98IMG.zip and put it on your the root of your SD card. Make sure you don't rename it to PH98IMG.zip.zip. Windows hides the .zip extension.
Your bootloader needs to locked in fastboot.
Code:
fastboot oem lock
(Do this before you place the PH98IMG.zip on your sd card.)
reboot into hboot, it find the image and then update the bootloader. It will take a long long time.
Then boot back into hboot for it to make another pass, this will update the system to ICS.
Unlock the bootloader again
Install Amon Ra recovery.
Install Scotts rooted stock rom that you have on the phone currently.
Done.
Warning, running the RUU will ERASE your internal SD card, so if you have pictures, video, music you want to keep, move it to your PC before you run the RUU.

How do I get to the developer Menu with that ZIP file on the SD card, won't it just try to update and give me no way out of that process?

SD does not mount automatically

I have seen others mentioning this but not resolution for just the Rezound. I have the new firmware, S-Off, and have run various stock ICS ROMs and after every reboot, I have to manually mount my SD card. Does anyone have a fix for this? Do I have to reload a RUU, unlock the bootloader, etc all over again?
Try formatting the card in the phone. Backup your data first.
I have this same problem, the weird thing is it sometimes mounts automatically and sometimes doesn't. Haven't found a fix, but used to have a widget that would do it just can't find.d it now.

I guess at this point, you might as well run the RUU. Not that big of a deal. DON'T unlock the bootloader, you're s-off, right? So put the RUU named ph98img on the SD card and let it go. Also, go ahead and do a factory reset before you put AmonRA on.....
Question: What did you run to get the latest firmware..?

I'm pretty sure to you have to lock the bootloader to run the RUU. Maybe someone else can chime in here.... Or you could try...
If you lock it...don't unlock again... NO need to be unlocked if s-off.
AFter you flash the RUU, boot into hboot and do a factory reset with the stock recovery....then go ahead and flash Amon.

If you get s-off, it will ask you if you want to upgrade your hboot, just select yes. Then you can flash ANY ROM you want!
It shouldn't wipe your external SD, but take it out just to be safe.

If you get s-off, it will ask you if you want to upgrade your hboot, just select yes. Then you can flash ANY ROM you want!
It shouldn't wipe your external SD, but take it out just to be safe.

That was my only concern if I need to be on the latest hboot... It's being a while since the last time I flash a Rom on the rez. There's a lot to keep up

Thanks there is a lot going on here. On the thunderbolt we are barely starting picking up on new staff. I mean there is no hboot, or firmware , or bunch of new Rom on the thunderbolt ... Lol but still use it, like it and hate it sometimes

It does wipe your SD card, it says so in the instructions/site. I just S-Off'd last night and I had to reformat my SD card to get it to work again, it even says so after controlbear is done running.

Why the snide remark? Wholly unnecessary stuff like this is why the Rezound forums have such a bad rep.

Hey, you came at me first.
I said to take it out anyway because it shouldn't, but sometimes it does. Just read the thread. Some people say it does, some don't. Take it out just to be safe.
You need a sdcard in the device to achieve S-off, if you don't have another sdcard just copy all of your stuff to your PC.
