Hi all.
I am sure this has been answered but I can't find it using search.
All my attempts at looking for the instructions on how to root my EVO 3D use the official HTCdev unlock.
The problem is, when I go through the process I get an error code 170. I deciphered this to be that my
provider blocks me from unlocking. (I am currently in Japan, and my carrier is AU (KDDI)).
How do I unlock the EVO 3D without first going through HTC?
Can someone who knows better point me to the way?
Thanks.

1st I wanna say i came from an inspire so probably things are a bit different.
I bought a att atrix, now I will be using this in the dominican republic so i need unlock, in the inspire rooting would give you radio OFF and your device would be unlocked, after reading here unlocking BL and Rooting won't give you sim unlock and the best thing to do would be to buy an unlock code from ebay. Some one please confirm this.
Now the device comes with gingerbread, I don't need to flash an sbf right? I can go straight to unlock the bootloader?
Now to unlock the bootloader, ive seen several methods, the easiest ones seems to be the Script which has everything, but after readying the latest posts, almost everyone is getting issues? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1182871 is this recommended or not?
ALso found this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1202883&highlight=sim+unlock
Just wanted your input on how should i unlock the bootloader since getting the money for the phone wasn't easy and I don't want it lost by hard bricking.
Also any insight on further processes like installing CWN and Rooting would be helpful.
Thanks in advance, will thank people who help.
Anybody? Hello?
Call or chat to AT&T customer support for sim-unlocking your phone. Better to use online "Chat" since they'll ask your phone's IMEI # and you don't want to misspell it. Atrix is not exclusive to AT&T, so if you're kind and reasonable enough, they'll give the unlock code to you for free. Call again if you're denied at first, I'm sure you'll meet someone who wants to help you. I just got mine a few weeks back.
For BL unlocking and rooting, see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1154600 if you're new to this.
Hello from Canada! This is my first post here, although I've been on this site or other sites like it trying to find out how to fix my problem:
I have my old Rogers GSM HTC EVO 3D, running HBOOT 1.53.0007 (S-ON) and Android ICS 4.0, and I'm trying to give it to my friend who's a little short on cash.
Because he's not on Rogers like I am, I need to unlock it so that it works with his carrier. I've spent roughly 4 hours looking up ways to unlock this thing, including S-OFF, Rooting, HTC Unlocking and more, and by now the details are starting to bunch up and get confusing.
I'm not inept, just confused :silly: I'm a desktop/server software engineer and I have both a Linux machine and a Windows desktop at my disposal - that being said, what would I need to do to get this phone unlocked? Would you be willing to list out a few steps, hints or tips to get this rolling? I'd be really greatful.
I don't need anything fancy in the end, just a working unlocked phone.
If have a few other questions too, if you don't mind explaining for me:
How is GSM unlocking related to rooting, S-OFF, and other stuff?
Is a specific version of android tied to HBOOT? As in, can I keep ICS and still run HBOOT 1.49?

If I understand you correctly, your phone is working fine and you need to unlock SIM? If that's the case you don't need to unlock your bootloader, just go to HTCdev site and find SIM unlock tool.
So, answer to your aditional questions is
1. No, you dont need s-off or bootloader unlock
2.H-boot is tied to a specific Androud version but 1.49.xxx h-boot works with all Android versions

Hi everyone. I'm new at this and was wondering if I install a custom Rom on AT&T HTC Desire 610 Go Phone, will I be able to use T-mobile instead of AT&T? Will it unlock or bypass the network so I don't need to get network unlock pin? I contacted AT&T customer service to unlock network pin but was told I need to activate service to get help with that. I really don't want to activate the phone only to get a network unlock code when I'll be using T-mobile after. If custom Rom won't do the trick is there a way to SIM-Unlock the phone or a tutorial? The Phone is brand new Bootloader unlocked with HTCDEV and rooted. Purchased at Target. Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance to anyone with some insight on my dilemma
Nope. Requires supercid mode, which requires s-off, which we don't have yet. Only option is at&t. If you've got a friend with an at&t account in good standing, they might be able to do it for you.
