Okay, As the title says, I've got a Rooted SGS4, GT-I9505, Running on a TWRP Recovery, And im using the Nightlies from CM Site, Wont let me link due to new account, Now..
My Problem seems to be that when i go into recovery and do my Wipe/Factory Reset, It works fine, But then when i go to flash the zip file, It freaks out! it starts saying Cant mount /system,eft,preload and then obviously gives me a big red failed!.. Now i wipe again, Then restore.. And start again, Also Tried wiping everything but my system folder, etc etc, i've tried everything.. Now ive tried messing with going into the mount tab aswell and seeing if i can mount things myself, but that seems to do somthing else, because it didnt do what i'd expected.
SO.. Am i missing a step between wiping and flashing, Or and i Wiping the wrong things? OR do i need to mount system, efs, preload myself?
SGS4 GT-I9505, Vodafone, AU.
SOLVED-ISH! (Read post below!)

Bad download..... That is usually the problem. Check to see in a file explorer if the size of the file is adequate to the size of it on the get.cm site.

Thanks for that!, Sorry aswell :S
Big news!
Seems TWRP was the issue, It was utterly crapping itsself, It seems after i'd flashed Philz CWM recovery, Everything went pretty smooth.. Now my only problem is that this is my first custom rom, so now to see where i should start before i move to CM10 and stay there haha!
If anyone has any suggestions for a thread/post that would be great.. Only thing i know is step 1: Get a GApps.zip!

Note that your TWRP backups are not compatible with CWM so one thing to do is make a backup in CWM of a known good configuration.

I have been looking at the Omega V13 ROM and really fancy trying it out.
Do I simply place the download ZIP file onto my sd card and install from Recovery?
I had originally un-zipped the file and placed the folders in my phone, but Recovery didn't find any update files...
Am I being an idiot?
Thanks in advance.

Just a quick tip, you do need to be rooted and already flashed a custom kernel to get CWM to flash that zip in recovery. I suggest you do A LOT more reading before doing ANYTHING..... Sorry if you know all this already, from your post I would say make sure you read all you can and understand what you're before doing it.... GL

If I were you I would NOT do ANYTHING till you understand what you're doing.... There is so much to learn and it takes time to learn... If you do something wrong you can brick (make your phone not usable) it's not worth the risk till you have read LOTS to understand what you're doing..... Here is a link to get you started http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1384134
Just remember it's not cool to have a phone that doesn't work.... Once you get it all figured out flash your first custom kernel in Mobile Odin so you don't trip the flash counter... The free XDA v is in that link......http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1347899

Thanks for the reply mate, but despite my noob question regarding this particular ROM, I have flashed/modded my phone a number of times. I have tried the Resurrection ROM, plus a couple of others in the past. The confusion in me arose because every other ROM I'd tried used Odin, whereas this is my first through Recovery.
Thanks again.

And with that, GL enjoy your new ROM!!!
That's fair enough dude
Generally instructions on how to install are on the first page of the thread. In general you have to do:
Full Wipe/Factory reset
Wipe cache partition
Advanced -> Wipe dalvik cache
Install zip from SD (or internal memory)
WARNING: You will lost all your phone numbers, wifi passwords, SMS, game levels and data you dont back up. I recommend using Titanium backup for those matters & SMS backup app. Anyway just in case do a backup of anything important you wish to keep.
Well, I've tested a few ROM's this evening and have stuck with Resurrection Remix (4.0.4).
Have to say that I love it thus far!
Thanks for your responses guys.

I know i'm going to get bashed for putting this in the dev section, but we really should have a general question for just t mo and not the entire line of phones. I wanted to know if there was a newer recovery out for the t mo variant. The one in the root guide works with no sd card support. There was another one being talked about which had sd card support and worked on my backup but errored on data during the restore.
That problem was fixed.
As stated, it was fixed; you need to flash the CWM recovery v4 from team epic in odin.
Is that the one in the new tool kit that was released?
Maybe posting in the right thread would give you politer and more specific answers. Just a suggestion. :good:

Hey guys,
Before anyone rushes into flaming, I just want to note that I've been a member here long enough to know how to search the threads before asking a question that has already been answered. This is the reason for the title. Anywho, here is my situation. I got my hands on a brand new S4, used it stock for a bit, then decided to root it (couldn't help myself.)
Post rooting, everything went great. The ROM (JellyBeans) was running smooth, life was peachy, until I decided to let my flashing addiction get the best of me and I decided to try a new ROM (no offense beanstown, just trying something new.) Anyways, I went into recovery, flashed the new ROM, of course wiping the device 4 times, as has become my habit. Went to turn it on, and the "Custom" screen pops up, then the phone just turns off.
I tried using Odin to return it to stock, but unless I'm using the wrong file, I'm getting the same result. Odin seemingly runs fine, but still no booting. Any ideas? The file I'm using with Odin is VRUAMDK_NoWipe. If there is a different one I should be using, please be kind enough to include a link for me. Thank you.
Just flash the full odin back to stock the version that is still rootable. That should do the trick some times not wiping is the issue.

I mentioned in my original post that I had attempted to use Odin to restore it back to stock. At this point, it doesn't really matter to me whether I can root or not, I'd just like it to turn back on. Shoot, I'd be happy with a boot loop right about now.

The no wipe mdk Odin file has caused issues with me. There is another Odin file floating around that should get you working again, although it causes full wipe.

reflash your verizon kernel, it will boot, you really didn't need to do odin, guess that is every ones quick fix. and if you are doing odin, after it flashes get into recovery and do a factory reset.

No, you can't use Odin to flash Slim. But you know what you can use XDA for? Reading. I'm sorry, but spoonfeeding is against XDA rules. Read up & flash slimbean. First you want a custom recovery & root, from there all you have to do is download the ROM and flash it according to the instructions in Slim OP. I'm not saying any more.

No one said you have to be a developer or expert. I'm certainly not. I only know what I know because I read things before attempting them. This isn't meant to be harsh, but right now your phone is in danger. Messing with your phone when you don't know what you're doing is a sure way to screw things up. So please do some reading. I already told you where to start, you need a custom recovery & root.

Good to hear.
The reason that everything looks small is that it's not standard dpi. Slim has default 182 dpi, stock is 240 dpi. You can change it, go to settings>interface>LCD density. Follow what it says there, the instructions work great there.

I've the fusionjack kernel included into the ROM...

Recovery asked if disable to restore something, select "yes" and now my phone is rooted

Hello! Like it says in the title I have a problem with rooting. All I did was to upgrade to official jelly bean. I searched for like 3 days continuously in French, German, English and all I have found was some info about what I should do. So I know that I have to flash a new CWM and that's probably why I can't flash ROMs. I get into Recovery mode, I select "apply update from external storage" and then it says with red : "E:failed to mount /sdcard (No such file or directory)". I found another method, with adb, tried it and failed, it says can't read file or open it, I'm not sure. With odin I tried so much CWMs... I can't number them. None of them worked. So I'm asking you, I'm mad to upgrade my android, to flash cyanogenmod, and I can't. Please help!! And please tell me how I know what version of cwm I need? I mean it's from Baseband- I9100PXXLS8 or Build number-I9100PXXLSQ? Please help! And don't tell me to search please!
How do you not know about philz kernel. Link below... Pls read it and flash what is for you're model and not the i9100.

I'm sorry I didn't know I did this thread duplicated. Maybe I pushed post thread button two times. I'm sorry. About philz kernel I know it, I said I tried so many versions... none of them worked. Thanks I'll try to flash it when I come back to school. My baseband is I9100PXXLS8. I saw some cwms with xwls8. Is there a problem? There says is nothing if is xx or xw it doesn't matter. Is that so?
Baseband is irrelevant because it's the modem. You need the build number, which is the kernel.

Hello. Last night I installed cwm for my phone. IT WORKED!! FINALLY!! Then I flashed the 10.1.3 RC2 CyanogenMod stable ROM and I was a bit scared because the android keyboard was failing continuously and I didn't know why. And then I remembered I flashed the 4.3 gapps. So I downloaded the gapps for 4.2.2 and now all works fine. No problem. SO HAPPY I FINALLY GOT A NEW ROM!! thank you to all guys that helped me.
