In the past i have once messed up the flashing of a rom and as a result my xperia neo v got stuck at boot loop at the "sony" logo
To fix it, all i did was to go into flashmode and flash the stock .ftf. After that, my phone would work again and i could flash my rom again.
However, now, my soft-bricked phone (same situation, bootloop at sony logo) is unable to go into flash mode and fastboot no matter which button it is i am holding. It just enters recovery mode no matter what i press.
When i hold volume down/menu/back button when i plug in, the phone vibrates and the sony logo appears, then the led light turns blue for a second then disappears, and enters recovery mode.
I am unsure whether my bootloader is unlocked as i may have relocked it in the past but i doubt it relocked it.
I did not find anything helpful after searching the forums for a solution for being unable to enter both flashmode and fastboot.
Re-flashing the rom, wiping cache partition, dalvik cache, factory reset, all of that did not work
Please help if you can :crying:
[EDIT]
Flashmode now works, but i get the header 6 error, so i am trying to use EMMA to fix my phone
[EDIT2]
EMMA worked! thanks guys for your suggestions.
credits to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2190272 for the suggestion
(in case anyone stumbles upon this thread and wants to try this solution)
on a side note my phone is now back to 2.3.4 haha
more problems incoming

[EDIT] current phone :
using stock Xperia Neo V GB 2.3.4 (build 4.0.2.A.0.62 )

Cannot go into fastboot mode either (USB + Menu button) but at least Flashtool is able to reboot it into fastboot...
...is there any similar trick to reboot into flashmode? Flashtool only tells me to do the manual stuff for flashmode.
Or, alternatively, is there any way to perform a ROM update - I'm fine with the latest SE stock ROM, I just need that fixed auto-leveling audio feature I had in my Arc since last Summer -, maybe through some fastboot injection + multiple other steps?
It's running GB 2.3.2 aka 3.0.A.2.181 and I need 2.3.4 aka 4.0.A.2.0.XX; I have root but that's it, when I tried installing CWM it did install but does not work, phone freezes at bootup when I keep pushing Volume Down at the first logo to invoke CWM.
PC Companion also 2.0 craps out when I try to run the update, telling me to take it to a SEMC place...
Thanks in advance
Having the same problem.. cant go into flashmode USB + back
What do you mean by you cant go? what happens when you try to go into that mode?
If you get blue LED on that means you are in that mode.

I meant what I said: it does NOT go into flash mode. You can try 100x it will only turn on charging, that's all.
And yes, having owned X10 and Arc previously I've done this before multiple times so I know how it goes normally... not on this Neo though, that's for sure.
So the question is: is there any way to perform an update via fastboot...?

For the love of God, Asians: PLEASE STOP ****IN' PLUGGING THIS **** IN EVERY OTHER POST.
Is it locked to a specific network? My understanding is that it'll have fastboot locked and you won't be able to get into flash mode. Mine's a Neo V, though, so the Neo may be different.
If it's the same as the Neo V then you have to unlock fastboot as well as the bootloader.
If you go to the dialler and enter *#*#7378423#*#* to get into the service menu, I think one of the options tells you about simlocks. Sorry I can't be clearer, my phone won't go to that menu, presumably because I've got CM7 on there now.
Apologies if the Neo doesn't work the same way.
---------- Post added at 02:21 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:08 PM ----------
I've just found a similar post, which seems to have ended with the same conclusion:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1305966
To unlock fastboot, I paid someone else to do it with their credits for setool.
Of course, having a locked fastboot shouldn't stop you from upgrading but I'd guess it'd have to be to a specific version that your supplier has modified.
Maybe it sees the CWM install and views it as non-standard. It might be worth flashing a stock recovery and trying again.
I realise that Flashtool was able to put the phone into fastboot mode. I imagine this "locked fastboot" terminology doesn't quite cover what it really means.
You can use flash mode, back button, greenlight with a locked phone ( sim and bootloader). Fastboot menu key, blue light needs unlocked phone ( sim)

I'm sorry, but this is another problem. What do you mean with "Hard restart" I restarted the phone already but always stuck in Sony logo and I installed all drivers before. Before this happened everything worked with the Flashtool and the Firmwares/Kernels I downloaded.

Custom kernels are only for unlocked bootloader. I though you were on unlocked bootloader buddy.
Also, when you try to install a firmware via flashtool uncheck the option "final verification".

This can be because sometimes flashtool asks me to install drivers and when I'm installing them then there is the error. I Can't enter fastboot because I ha ve a locked BL.
In your pc go to c/flashtool/drivers n install that exe.. And if you're mobile just stays on sony logo then let it stay there for sometime.. May be some error with TA partition

Yes it is possible without having to start up your phone, and yes i read thread but take note on what i was refering to in detail i said MT27_6.1.1.B.1.54_KERNEL and not {{MT27_6.1.1.B.1.54_Global}}}. Either way just unlock your bootloader seeing as how u cant turn it on to get the imei their is another way with flashtool.
1) download and install latest Flashtool (Flashtool Version 0.9.11.0)
2) Start Flashtool and click on BLU button on the top its right next to the lightning rod
3) turn off your phone (Hold power button and volume up make sure it vibrates twice), connect phone to PC in flashmode(hold down volume down while connecting it to pc)
4) click on get unlock key button, it will switch you to Sony Mobile website, here complete all boxes
5) copy IMEI form Flashtool to Sony Mobile site, than you will get unlock code to your mailbox
6) copy unlock key to Flashtool window and than click unlock
7) connect phone in fastbootmode ( holding volume up while connecting it to pc)
8) wait to unlock finish.
you should now have unlocked bootloader. Then retry flashing the .54 i also say just flash .54_KERNEL and NOT .54_Global.

Hello there.
After beeing fed up with the sluggish performance of my Neo stock ICS over the last months I finally took the step
and tried to install a custom rom.
I went for the xperia Ultimate HD 3.0.2. And I messed it up!!
Root went fine with help of the Dessert Journey thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=42856914
Installed x-parts for CWM and here is where it started to go sideways.
I left the bootloader locked.
I took me 10 attempts to get into CWM but finally managed to start it.
I then installed ultimate HD with the help of a guide.
But then the phone stalled showing the sony logo. However I could still get into CWM so I repeated the process 4 times.
On the 4th attempt I was starting to get frustrated and here is where I messed up.
I had a brain freeze and ticked the last box in Aroma where its says reebot allthough the guide I used clearly says don't!
Result: The phone starts with the usual vibration but freezes on the sony logo.
I spent a few hours trying to find a thread how I could undo my mess but I just don't know where to start.I have now more or less given up and resigned to the fact that I killed it.
I'll probably drop the hammer on a second hand nexus 4 today.
It would however be fun to ressurrect the neo and to be able to play with it. (Perhaps bad choise of words) So any Idea where to start for me to untangle this mess?
Thanks in advance

I wish it had helped! I have flashed the phone. But Im still stuck at sony logo.
Flashtoll says this: WARN - <- This level is successfully initialized.
Can it be that I have installed a corrupt rom that doesn't work and that because my bootloader is locked CWM has disappeared and that the phone has no way to start properly.

Then try using sus and flash the stock rom with that and after your phone starts once then repeat all the steps for rooting and everything.

If you flashed a rom with locked bootloader and after that you can still enter cwm, then you didn't follow the right steps.
When you install a rom you have to make all wipes in cwm, this will delete cwm after rom installation.
Same way with flashtool, when you flash a ftf firmware to restore corrupt phone make sure to check all wipes.

Yeah....
So I removed the sd-card and checked what I ROM I had installed. I had installed xperia ultimate hd 3.0.2 following a guide for xperia ultimate hd 2.0.2. apparently they somewhat different. There is still a folder callad Clockwork Mod on the SD card.
Did I ever mess up.
Sus also say the latest updates are already istalled on the phone.
Question: The ftf firmware I flashed is the 4.1.0.587 Nordic and it does not give the option for any wipes. There is the 4.1.0.587 Global that does.
Should I flash that and wipe everything?

Do this.. Just go to recovery, do wipes as follows,
Wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache partition,
Go to advance, wipe dalvik cache,
Mounts and storage, format data, format system, format cache..
Flash rom once again properly by reading instructions,.. This should fix it without flashing stock ftf and stuff.. And while flashing please tick on locked bootloader in aroma.. Hope this helps you

Seeing at your logs clearly tells that you're not flashing full firmware .ftf but just the kernel.
So to fix this do following:
1. Start Flashtool
2. Click on flash icon & select Flashmode.
3. Select the ftf file.
4. IMPORTANT: See the boxes on the right & CHECK all the 'Wipe boxes' (Apps log, User data, Cache, etc.) & UNCHECK all the 'Exclude boxes' (FOTA, System, Kernel, Baseband, etc.)
5. Click OK
6. Follow the instructions on screen.
7. Boot up your phone!
Then root your phone again > install CWM Recovery > follow the guide of ROM you want to install.
You're done! Cheers!
So when tried to flash the 4.1.0.587 Nordic ftf it did not give the option for any wipes. Could not check or uncheck anything because box was blank.
Then i flashed the 4.1.0.587 Global ftf and wiped cache and user data.
That worked!!
Thanks everyone that had the patience to try and help me.
Now I'm just gonna enjoythe fact that it works and in a day or so I'll root the slow and lagging thing and install a propher ROM
I have now been running Xperia Ultimate HD 2.0.2 for a week with no big issues and lot less lag.
Great! Cant wait to try another ROM.

@TJam12
It may be corruped firmware file, connect your phone in flashmode while flashtool window is open, if it stays connected for about 45 seconds it's not drivers problem.
Why not use SUS or PCC to flash stock?
I Could But I Need To Relock The Bootloader By Flashing The Relock Ftf.. But Its Gives Me The Same Error As This One..
Btw, It Only Stays For 10 Seconds, Is It A Drivers Problem? But Flashtool Detected It Though..

Not sure how safe this is if you cannot flash the others.
The others I don't know but maybe you will be able to flash them with flashtool
There is the partition image that may need to be flashed first.
Maybe it's better to find a computer that flashtool would work on.

You said flash mode disconnects after 10 seconds, normally it is 45 seconds, that could be a problem or with the file.
Try reloading the firmware file or even better, build ne from PCC files.
Start repair with PCC untill it ask you to connect in flash mode, the build FTF .

How did this began?
If you have developwr options enabled you can try adb pull command.
If what you want to backup is on the sdcard(internal storage) fear not, reflashing will not erase it.

And it's stuck there since? Have you tried to force reboot, power + volume up untill you feel 1 vibration, or power off (1+) 3 vibrations?
Your options are limited.
You can still unlock the bootloader and flash custom kernel with CWM recovery that supports mounting usb, or adb, or use PC Companion/flashtol.
I have flashed my Xperia P many times with PC Companion and flashtool and never lost any data on internal memory.

I forgot unlocking needs the code from Sony and for the you need the IMEI number.
Just flash, there no other options realy.
You will probably need to use repair since the phone is not on.
