Flashify (flash without unlock the bootloader?) - Transformer TF300T Themes and Apps

anyone tried this: https://play.google.com/store/apps/...1bGwsMSwxLDEsImNvbS5jZ29sbG5lci5mbGFzaGlmeSJd
as far as I know it let's you backup and flash on your Android without having a custom recovery! that's awesome! but you can flash only img files without a custom recovery, you need to have root obviously. But if we could convert any zip to an img file we could flash it with this app! for people that don't want to unlock their bootloader this could be a way to flash things without doing it! like if we had an custom kernel in an img file we could flash it using this app without unlock the bootloader.
come on guys let's explore this app, this could be just what we need!

That works on nexus 7, so probably also on TF300T. Anyone to test it ?

Flash your boot images, recovery images and zip files right away using Flashify!
Does this only work for twrp? Or can the same functions work with cwm?

Christian Göllner replied on July 5, 2013
Hello Michael, it works for TWRP and CWM. The difference is that with TWRP you will be able to wipe cache, dalvik and data, and also flash multiple zips.
This appears to only provide an in android interface and passes info to twrp and cwm as do rom toolbox pro, rom manager and others.
It does not appear to be capable of flashing or creating flashable files on its own.

In this link you can find the official thread where it says that to flash img files you don't even need a custom recovery!

I'll report back to this thread.
Update! The images made available with blobtools are recovery, system, and boot. I have never had need of boot.img. System.img is an image of the /system folder. I tried flashing recovery.img but I was not successful. The tablet I have on hand at the moment is unlocked.
I'll try again next week. Next week I am expecting a tf300t that is still locked. Till then I'll think about other images I could flash. Recovery is signed in the blob, I have never had success flashing recovery with fastboot or twrp on this tablet so I was not surprised it failed.

okay, thanks anyway, I hope that this work

I'll update here when I have the other tablet(locked). I should be able to use dd with a locked tablet that is rooted to create an image file. I think I will begin with that path. I still have several days to consider possible use on our tablets.

First Flashify info:
At this time flashify is not able to flash properly on the tf300 - at least those are the results of my testing.
It will not properly create images or restore the ones I have removed from the stock blobs that Asus created.
Flash Gordon. I installed but decided not to push my luck. Looking at the provided script the op presented (asking for help with script) the partitions are hard coded. The partitions do not match what I find for our tablet.
In the future this may change but at this point I am not that brave when I see obvious concerns.
I admit I did not yet download the actual source and confirm the script provided matches the app.

I'll download the apk source and have a look. If it appears it will work with our tablet I'll give it a try. If the partitions are hard coded as is the script it will not work and will present you with a brick.
Next week, unless things slow!
The script above and app have the same code. I don't know the target device but not our tablet.
This is a no go at the moment however it could be modified and used - similar to what I suggested earlier about using dd to copy and restore partitions.

Best way to get back to absolute stock?

I sold my TFP and was wondering if there are any tutorials on how to flash back to stock?
get outta here ya apple land lover....lmfao you stuck in the apple Matrix. they got you plugged in. they show you a nice new shiny screen n you Jump ship..SMH. its all good man. just busting your chops.
aside from that vv
I could've sworn I saw you said you unlocked your device in other threads. if this is true, there is no way to go back to stock. stock means you have a locked bootloader again. there is no relocking. if you want to go to stock firmware, look in developement section.
If it is unlocked, it will never be stock again. Otherwise, you can just root it and dd the blob file using the method detailed in the thread in the dev section about how to flash any version software,That will revert the kernel and boot and other stuff to stock and also unroot it. Then just do a factory reset/data wipe and you are good to go
I'm not concerned with the bootloader, I just want a stock looking ROM. Is that possible?

see the thing is, there have been several people who unlocked, used custom rom, then tried to flash back an official Asus stock rom and bricked their prime.
SO LET ME WARN YOU, IF YOU UNLOCKED, DO NOT TRY TO FLASH AN OFFICIAL ASUS ROM OR YOU WILL BRICK YOUR TABLET. ask Diamondback for proof. you could try unofficial versions. there is a stock rom but has some tweaks added to it like root n some other things. you have to look in developers section on it. I forgot the guy name. I think it may be Jermaine. look for his stock rom thread. just plz make sure to research it thoroughly first. wouldn't want you to brick your prime.
on another note, if you unlocked n flashed a custom rom, didn't you nandroid backup your stock rom first before flashing? if so then you can just flash/restore that nandroid backup you have through CMW manually.

Restoring a nandroid in CWM does not grab the kernel, he still has to do the blob method I detailed. I grabbed the blob from the official asus .15 zip and it has worked fine. Done it several times myself. Do that method and you are unrooted, stock recovery. Should be like all stock except for bootloader. You will still need to do a factory reset/data wipe I believe.

I used this method:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1492887
For what it is worth....that disclaimer was not up when I first tried it. I have the stock ROM with CWM and unlocked bootloader. It has worked fine for me....flashing the blob replaces the recovery with stock. I have done this 3 times without issue.....maybe I am lucky? Seems more like a CYA disclaimer to me. I can see NO reason why it would pose any threat, this code sits above the bootloader and would be the same whether unlocked or locked. the kernel would be the only concern....but it is replaced properly along with the recovery by the blob method

OK.thanks. so just dd that blob file to, in my case, internal sdcard and reboot and that's it, and that puts recovery and kernel back to stock?
Sent from my HTC Mecha using XDA
No. Place it on the sdcard, insert into tablet. When doing dd command, if=input file (file source) of=output file (destination). I used a USB Thumb drive actually, doesn't matter as long as you know where the blob is for the dd command
Make sure you properly locate the file for the if parameter and that you exactly input the value for of. Messing this up will probably brick the tab so be careful

You can do it from the internal SD Card/memory. Just have to change the path given for if=
You will need a computer at some point though as I am not sure there is a good method to extract the blob itself within android.

First two things are possible with nvflash, by unblobing stock ASUS into the different img files (boot, recovery, system) then flashing them, you will end with stock recovery/ROM.
But last point is impossible for usual mortals, only ASUS can do this when you send it to RMA.
You can remove Twrp and put stock OS back on easy, relocking the bootloader is impossible. You should have known that when you unlocked it in the first place

Root TF201

Ok. Got root on OTA Jellybean tf201.
Here's what I did, not sure if unlocking bootloader is necessary.
Unzip wintools to desktop, put twrp-recovery.blob in tools folder.
save Superuser-3.2-arm-signed.zip to internal memory on tf201
Update to JB ota,
restart phone in bootloader (adb reboot bootloader) or (hold vol down + power, on reboot release power while holding down vol)
select fastboot (usb symbol)
on pc execute cmd in directory with fastboot then run fastboot -i 0x0b05 flash recovery twrp-recovery.blob
once your twrp recovery is flashed just flash Superuser-3.2-arm-signed.zip and you should be rooted.

It would appear that I got lucky when I said previously that I managed to root with no problem and sorry if I misled anyone...
So, my experience here says that the only way to get root is by having a partial root...It would appear that I had this but did not know as there was no "on screen evidence"
My case was this...
As I am a firm believer in always starting afresh when any update comes along (I think especially this should be so in the case of an "incremental" update such as this -it was not a full rom as the size was too small - one should never have faith that all will be well afterwards as often seen on windows updates, mac os updates and android updates...) so I prefer to completely wipe device then start again and re-install apps after.
So, for anybody who wants rooted JB who hasn't been lucky enough to get it so far you'll have to be prepared to either wait for someone to find an exploit or do what I luckily did which also gives you a completely fresh start/clean install.
1 Backup everything you want by whatever is your favourite way of doing it
2 Reflash to .28 by using micro sd update
3 Root .28 using automated debugfs
4 protect root with voodoo ota rootkeeper
5 download and install JB update
6 Factory reset (wipe data in the recovery menu)
7 Run automated debugfs root (this works because of the hidden partial root I had)
8 Re-install apps
At least this way you get an "as new" OS and can tidy up your apps and data at the same time. I think this FW rocks and has, so far, shown absolutely 100% rock solid performance. :good:

You can't downgrade without the bootloader unlocked
Hi all,
as the OTA update to jellybean was not working (dead android with yellow triangle), I downloaded the FW from asus web site.
Installed with the SD card procedure, all went fine.
BUT, the root backup of OTA root keeper is lost, and I'm now stuck without root. The root process is not working anymore (vipermod and co gives an access denied when copying files) and I cannot rollback.
Don't want to unlock my device, so let's hope somebody will find a way to root the JB...
To all: DO NOT MANUALLY UPDATE if you want to keep your root!

[Q] In Jellybean - Unable to root, unable to roll back.

Hi,
I have recently purchased a Transformer Prime. It has auto-updated to Jellybean 4.1.1. As far as I can tell this means I can't root it... sparky's method and vipers method both fail, it looks like they are designed for ICS. Flashing latest TF201 version of CWM recovery is inneffectual - booting to this type of recovery mode just hangs the device.
I have tried to roll back using method 2. From the below thread.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1622628
When using the command "mv /data/local/tmp /data/local/tmp.bak" I receive a permissions error (you can't do it, you ain't speshul enuff)
Device is not rooted. Device is Unlocked.
Any ideas? I would really like to root this so I can remove the useless crap Google bundle and install proper versions of Adblock and Titanium backup.
Happy to provide any information requested.

I have ALREADY searched this forum for roll back methods and tried them. They have failed. If there is a method I've missed that I haven't linked in my OP could you please point it out instead of being apathetic and useless.

No, thankyou. Is this a method to install a recovery with the end goal of using the recovery to rollback?

TWRP allows you to flash a rom blob file.
Do some reading on others doing reversions with twrp because you don't want to flash back the wrong blob file.

Ok. I have ICS blob file with .11 ending already because I read that was the most stable.
I'll read a little further though. Thanks man.

TWRP 2.5.0 access only

Hi everyone, I think I've done a bad damage on my TF201. I was an happy user of [ROM]BAKED TF201 bb-8 (3-16-2013) with TWRP 2.5.0 as recovery, when today I decide to flash the [ROM][Apr 4][JB 4.2.1] AndroWook Prime Hairy Bean v2.11. Doing that I did flash before this file JB.4.2.1.Bootloader.and.partitions.zip. ROM was doing ok, so I decide than to flash via Terminal the TWRP 2.5.0, as the previous one was push me back with the 2.4.4.0. Unfortunately after booting into recovery is asking me the password that I don't remember, and now I am not able anymore to flash any ROM or restore any backup as the TWRP won't show me anything as is keep me asking for a password and when I ask to reboot is telling me that nor OS or SuperUser is available.... Is any solution for this mess that I've done?
Many thanks for the support, I am really desperate now!
EDIT: ok I did manage to resume the ROM, but is any way to recover the passwordto TWRP 2.5.0 recovery?

Go and read the disclaimer that is in big writing at the beginning of the hairy bean thread and then come back here and say what you have done wrong
not sure where you're talking about....
EDIT:
I am facing with this issue you posted here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=40149294&postcount=8
after rebooting the tablet goes straight into recovery, still 2.5.0. The only way to load the rom is reboot the device via adb then with Volume - selecting androd icon and load it.
Quick note: after rebooting via adb I've got a message on top left position of the tablet as follow:
Key driver not found..Booting OS
Android cardhu-user boot loader <1.00 e> released by "WW_epad-10.6.1.2.8-20130225" A03

I'm talking about reading this section.
"READ EVERYTHING CAREFULLY. THIS IS NOT JUST FLASHING ANOTHER ROM
This Rom has been tested by many people but if you do not follow the instructions correctly or then go on to flash an incompatible TWRP you can brick yourself.
DO NOT INSTALL ANY OTHER RECOVERY WHILE USING THE NEW 4.2.1 BOOTLOADER, THEY ARE NOT COMPATIBLE AT THE MOMENT, THE ONE BUILT IN IS MODDED. USE THE DOWNGRADE ZIP TO TAKE YOU BACK TO 4.1.1 BOOTLOADER AND RECOVERY IF YOU NEED IT."
You ignored it and installed 2.5.0 even tho I had posted not to and now you are half bricked.
The post you just linked to is your only chance to recover. If one of the ways does not fix you in that post or you do not have nvflash backups there is nothing I can do sorry.
ok so if flashing either via Terminal or fastboot, would not replace the current TWRP 2.5.0, I am half screw then....
No I never manage to have the nvflash backups, the only backup I have is the one related to the previous ROM with TWRP 2.5.0 image, but of course I am not able to see it now.
Stupid question as I am not aware about it: is the nvflash backups related to a specific hardware or can it be use to any TF201 tablets?
Thanks for your tips

Nvflash backups can only be used on the machine they were created on.
and of course do it now wouldn't be possible....
appreciate your help anyway, if you have maybe another idea is more than welcome!
would be possible in recovery with adb copy the ROM into the tablet and flash it?

That isn't possible because you have the wrong TWRP on there for the bootloader and it can't mount any of the partitions it needs.

... Too good to be true. I think I have to hope for a new TWRP or Hair release which may fix this half brick.
Thank you

apparently you and I have the same problem: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2245136
any more idea for us?
I think we just need to hope for a new TWRP release and see if it would be flashable, otherwise stay in this half brick condition till new update
