Is there a tutorial on how to root, unlock, install recovery, and flash a Rom?
I see in the post where its states "flash recovery" with a link to the recovery. How do I flash the recovery?
I also see where it says "Unlock the bootloader". How do I do that?
I have searched up and down these forums for a simple "how-to" that is not based on the presumption that I now how to flash without stating what is used to flash.
An example would be: Open Odin, and place the rom in the PDA slot, connect the device to computer, once recognized press start. Yes, I have Samsung's which I flash often.
Help a very frustrated person wanting to run Liquid JB on a Photon 4G.
First of all please explain the details like photon or electrify, .android 2.3.4 or 2.3.5. If it is 2.3.5 the chance to unlock is very low or impossible and you can flash roms for locked bootloader. Unfortunatly ICS or JB roms are only for unlocked bootloader. If you flash roms for unloked bootloader in a locked bootloader phone the result will be a bricked device. So be carefull.
There is many threads including sticky threads regarding unlocking, rooting and flashing roms. So please search and found it.
Hope this will help you.

Hey, so i just traded my xperia play for an Atrix and have been reading all the guides ever since.
I am also wondering how can i check if the device has an unlocked bootloader.
It is rooted if that helps.
Model #: MB860 , Baseband Version: N_01.92.00R ,
Motorola Webtop Version: OSHWT_U1_6.54.0 , Build #: OLYEM_U4_2.1.1
Alright, so my main questions are: How can i get android 2.3.4 on my device?
Can i flash the AT&T sbf even if my phone is not from at&t?
I can answer one question for ya.
If your bootloader is unlocked it will say unlocked in the top left corner on the motorola dual core boot screen.
Other than that Im not to sure on how to go about getting GB on there.
Edit: Brainfart moment, Once you unlock your bootloader you can flash a custom rom and flash Faux123's unified kernal for all carriers. You will have to set your apns up manually but thats not hard.
Go the the pudding sticky in the dev forum to get your bootloader unlocked.
If your still unsure after that, come back here and Post your questions.
if bootloader is unlocked http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1136261 read that install rsd lite the x64 drivers and the sbf flasher heres the unlocker for bell http://diamantephoto.com/IHOP_Bell.rar
wait so i cant just flash the AT&T sbf file?
and my phone is not from bell, i actually dont know what country its from...

alright so i think my atrix is a retail france version (System version is: Version.4.2.11.MB860.Retail.en.FR)?
so after unlocking the bootloader what should i do to get a simple stock-like gingerbread rom?
After that you have to get romracers cwm installed to install roms and kernels. You can install any rom of your choice, you just have to flash the unified kernel by faux123 each time you change roms.
Sorry id give you links but im using my phone, both links are in the dev forum.
Your radio will stay the same
Just read everything twice and its a piece of cake. Theoretically of course

hey so ive unlocked the bootloader, rooted, installed romracers cwm, and installed the stock-like Homebase rom (v1.4).
After installing homebase my phone started heating up alot and the battery started draining really fast, so...
I just have a few more questions:
How can i check where my atrix is from (is it an At&t one, a bell one or and international one)
Can i installed AT&T roms? (i just have to flash faux's kernel after right?)
is there any other rom that is available that is as stock as possible, a stock rom that i can flash without loosing cwm and root?
Im coming over to the photon from E4GT, tired of Samsung.
Anyway, Im confused about the most optimal route for flashing. I see bootstrap, unlocked bootloader stuff. I see a couple kernals, a couple roms....but then there is the OTA thing that will probably occur when I power on the phone. How will affect my rom set up? Why does flashing an ext 4 kernal break the wifi functionality? Why would anyone use bootstrapped method when the bootloader is now unlocked?
Idk, Im just a little photon newb, and I will probably told to go do more reading. But honestly I have such a headache from researching these phones (new sprint customer), dealing with my E4GT probalems....so if anyone feels like typing and introducing me to photon best practices, I will "thank" them.
Thanks guys
Root, Unlock with Pudding, Flash CWM, flash away.
What about that latest OTA? Will my phone alrdy have it?
Root, unlock, flash cwm 5, flash homebase 2.1 with 4.2 update. My phone has been flawless.
Unlock = loose 4g
Even if you get the latest ota the pudding flash takes you back, then whatever the ROM you flash its based on

Just wondering, what problems did you have with your epic touch?
Sent from my MB855 using XDA Premium App
Flashing issues with bootstrap, possible bricking, only really good for backups... My path for flashing was pudding unlock, root with one click root from shabby, fastboot clockwork onto your phone, then place the ROM of your choice on your phone via cwm... I'm running homebase 2.1 Deblur with update 4.2, and so far not a single problem. Just make sure you know what you are doing and read read read before doing anything. Any questions feel free to pm me or one of the other members and we can help you through everything!

RSDLite gives me error " Failde flashing process: unable to retrive interface handle (0x7027); phone connected."
I would follow the pudding OP. Flash the unlock only sbf file, boot into fastboot and enter the fastboot commands. .sbf files can be trickey and there at helpful hints to curve sbf flashing problems in my noob guide.
As far a the automatic unlock... the Android version doesn't matter so much as your firmware version. 2.3.4 & 2.3.6 are both 4.5.91 firmware I believe. But still suggest using the pudding OP as a guide.
*Edit*
I saw tour post in my thread... that's funny that you claim none of the unlock methods work, b/c what I think you meant to say was that they don't work for you.
How do you think hundreds or thousands of people have unlocked their bootloader? Do you think there's some secret super easy way we just aren't telling you about?
I helped someone unlock their bootloader this afternoon with nothing but the instructions in the Pudding thread OP. Check out the conversation in Rom Racers recovery thread. I'm chalking up your problems to user error.

Did you factory reset / wipe data, and clear cache partition & dalvik cache in recovery before you flashed?

Which method did you have success with?
dont forget to delete the install-recovery.sh in system/etc or you
cant boot into recoveryat startup
and only through rom manager :sly:
I'm running in to the same problem!
I can't get my Bell Atrix 2.3.6 to unlock bootloader
Tried following the pudding noob link but I ran into the problem where RSD lite detected it as "SE Flash Olympus" instead of "NS Flash Olympus"
As I continued reading other ppl's posts down the page, ppl are suggesting project cheesecake or the other link to do the sbf flash which doesn't work for BELL anyways ...
I'm not ready to go with project cheesecake yet cause the directions aren't so straight forward ... (step#3. Using root explorer move those files into their correct places (just follow folder setup, where they came from is where they go) Just where is these "correct places" are?
My device is already rooted and I think this is the only thing stopping me from flashing my rom to CM7
Please help ...
Getting super frustrated!
sorry missed a few posts somehow...
Hi i'm in the same boat, i don't want even try to unlock until i'm sure, my Atrix have 2.3.6 the firm version is not a 4.5.91 is 4.5.2A-51_OLL-48 so i don't want to mess up, i only want the battery fix in CWM, but i understand is only for unlocked phones. Thanks for the help.
Same here. After a lot of reading I am totally confused.
All the guides for unlocking the bootloader are for 2.3.4 / 4.5.91.
My virgin Atrix has stock Bell 2.3.6..
Under Build number it says 4.5.2A-51_OLL-17.8
System Version 45.21.78.MB860.BellMobility.en.CA
Baseband N_01.07.05P
Does this mean that I can still safely unlock the bootloader using pudding's guide and the instructions for unlocking the bootloader on 2.3.4 / 4.5.91 ?
It seems that I am not the only one asking this question.
Someone please clarify that once and for all!
A million THANKS in advance!
Same here
I have the same Question, I have a rooted Atrix 4G no Bootloader unlocked
Android Version 2.3.6..
Build number 4.5.2A-51_OLL-48
System Version 45.2.48.MB860.Latam.en.01
Somebody knows if is safe use the Only unlocker sbf for International for Unlock the bootloader this Atrix???
Thanks
Okay, I just rooted my Electrify and now want to install a custom recovery and ROM. I'm just kinda lost on how to do so. I'm somewhat familiar with using ADB and such. The thing that throws me off is the whole boot loader. Also, I am not sure what ROMS I can use and which I can't. I was looking at Jokers because I'd like to have just a pretty much stock ICS ROM but I also really would like to be able to use MIUI 4.0 but I can't decipher which is for the Photon and which is for the Electrify. Any information is appreciated.
Youll need to unlock your bootloader and install jokers recovery before flashing his ics rom. For stepbystep videos of this, go to youtube and search up qbking77. He has a video series on how to do these things. Id just throw you the link to his xda thread in the photon 4g android development section but im on my mobile. If you go back a few pages youll be able to find it.

I looked at qbkings but all he has on there is the Photon stuff.
Okay. I have a Motorola Photon on the sprint service. luckily l was able to successfully root it, but since my version is 2.3.5 (I'm guessing that's the problem) is there NO way to downgrade /unlock bootloader/ install a custom rom? I've googled and read all the guides and I don't really understand if I'm screwed or what.... some clarification would be helpful!
P'S: I've included a screen shot of my phone info
Yes at 2.3.5, u cannot unlock the bootloader. It is tightly shut by motorola. U either can flash safestrap or wait for kexec development to finish. Apparently this phone is collecting dust as i am following the kexec thread. I have japanese photon though. Isw11m

Well, I downloaded and installed a bootstrap program on this phone. (Called System Recovery ) and it gives me access to a CWM recovery screen.
does that mean I can finally install roms or will it brick my phone if I attempt?
Be carefull, only flash rooms for locked bootloader.
