SynergyROM VZW S4 Google Problems - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S 4

I can't post in the ROM thread so I guess this'll have to do.
Every day I get a notification that says my Gmail can't login to Google. My Gmail is working just fine though, but I keep getting this error. Also in the thread it says it removes bloat, why is it all the ****ty Samsung apps and Verizon apps are still on my phone? I've checked and I am running the ROM and the flashing went fine. Am I supposed to flash the latest gapps? The thread doesn't have the best instructions.

So no one is going to help me? Wtf

[Q] com.android.phone has stopped working error

I had used the amaze 4g all in one tool kit to unlock my bootloader, install a custom recovery, and then installed a custom rom (bullet proof 2.5) along with the provided kernel to go with it.
The phone worked great for a few days, then I noticed that it was acting like the wireless network radios were turned off in the software. They were still enabled so I rebooted and it fixed the problem for a little while.
Now my phone will only give me the com.android.phone has stopped working error and will not let me turn on the wireless network radios.
I have tried complete wipe of the phone and re-installation of the custom rom. I have tried different, yet still recommend, custom kernels, as well as different recoveries all with the same issue.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I tried searching with out any good results.
Thanks.

are you running joes "one good rom"? dude it says right in the op
Attention 2: on the first start "com.android.phone" process will FC, it is normal.
It's because of Toggle2G app. Just open that app and give it permission to run.

I actually stated in my first post what rom I was running when all this happened.
I have tried Joes "one good rom" and followed all his kernel and set up instructions with no luck. On his rom I don't get the error message, but all of the wireless network options are grayed out. I am starting to think it might be something hardware.

No worries. I am actually in the process of finding and flashing the stock rom back onto it, going to try and put everything back to stock and see what happens.

Hi. I decided to add to this thread instead of starting a new one since i am having a similar problem. The originator never said if he was able to solve the problem. I was using the Energy ROM (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1362759) (ICS, S-ON) and everything was fine. I decided to try the Speed ROM (project "butter" http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1623184) which is Jellybean based. I did a full wipe, and after installing it I got the same com.android.phone error. I got it to stop, but then started having other issues like Superuser, BusyBox, and Titanium Backup unable to get root access. Unable to find any other solutions, I decided to restore to stock, which went fine (well I had to try a few times as I haven't done it before). After that, and having the phone working fine back at stock ICS I reflashed the Speed ROM. I ended up with the same issue. I wiped again and returned to the Energy ROM and it seems to be working fine. My quesiton is, why is the Speed ROM not working on my phone? When it flashed there were no issues, and I followed the instrucitons exactly.
I would post in the Speed ROM forum but I don't have enough posts yet since I am usually able to find answers by searching.

Thank you! After I posted I ran across somehting in the speed rom thread that made me go back to the original post. Sure enough, there is a download link for SuperSU which it says you need to flash to gain root after installng the ROM. I guess I read the instructions above, scrolled down to the rom download link, and then stopped. I will try this again with what you suggested when I have time in the next day or two.

[Q] Galaxy Note 3 - can't send SMS, and now can't get any mobile data at all

Galaxy Note 3 Can't send SMS or phone calls, but was receive SMS and calls at first
Hangouts was combined with SMS originally
Device was saying “No APN specified for the device”. When trying to go to Settings>Mobile network settings>Access Point Names, I get error message “Unfortunately, the process com.android.phone has stopped”
Was running cm-11-20140905-NIGHTLY-hltespr.zip at time of problem
Tried wipe/factory reset to 'clean' install of CM11, did not resolve issue
Tried updating to the most recent CM11 nightly: cm-11-20140908-NIGHTLY-hltespr.zip
This did not resolve the issue
Tried going back to an older nightly: cm-11-20140904-NIGHTLY-hltespr.zip
Did not resolve issue
Tried flashing a rooted stock ROM: http://stockroms.net/file/GalaxyNote3/SM-N900P/rooted/SM-N900P-HLTESPR-MJ4-Odex-v2.zip[1]
Did not resolve issue, this put the device into a boot loop, would not get past the Galaxy Note 3 splash screen
Flashed back to the cm-11-20140905-Nightly-hltespr.zip, this fixed the boot loop, but now I'm getting a different message
Wiped data and cache in between each flashing of a new ROM
When trying to call from the phone, it says “Mobile network not available”, and still can't get SMS to send. It no longer gives me any message about “No APN specified”, but the same error happens if I go to Settings>Mobile network settings>Access Point Names
I've found this thread but it only seems to be related to the S3/S4 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2657822[2]

Google Voice is not installed, and I can't find anything in the settings about Voice+
I can't go back to CM10 because there doesn't appear to be a CM ROM for the Note 3 earlier than CM11
I've found threads with similar issues, but they are all for either Galaxy S phones, or for the Note 2. There seems to be little to no information about the Note 3 regarding this issue
At this point, the Note 3 can't send or receive any mobile data, can't make calls, and can't send messages. It's basically a WiFi only device at this point
Perhaps I need to try updating the radio? I'm honestly not sure. But there again, I can't seem to find much on the Note 3
If someone could help me out with this it would be much appreciated, as its my sister's phone and she's going to go crazy without it
EDIT:
One thing I forgot about, somewhere in there I also tried flashing a ROM for hlte, as opposed to hltespr. I think that at point is when all data stopped working
Some have suggested flashing a stable version of CyanogenMod, but there doesn't appear to be one for the Note 3, unless I'm missing something

Do you know where I can find a stock ROM? The one I have been able to find has not worked. Also, does reinstalling a stock room cause the phone to be unrooted? I thought I read somewhere that there has not been an unroot for the Note 3 released yet
I will attempt to locate a stock ROM on my own and attempt to update Profile and PRL and go from there. Thanks for the assistance!

In the development section you should be able to find a stock rom. Yes, by installing a stock rom you will loose root its as if you just got it from the store, lol.

Hmm interesting. I always thought that what software you're running and whether or not you have root access are two separate things. Don't they have rooted Stock ROMs?
Anyway, its irrelevant at this point. I've found a stock ROM I'm hoping will work, will update either way

Just flash an htlespr ROM and you'll be fine.
Flashed back to a Stock ROM, and everything works fine again.
Waiting until a milestone is released to try re-rooting and flashing CM again

Anyone else having an issue with this ROM and google maps randomly saying "Maps has stopped working" over and over and over whenever you try to go to navigation?
Model number changed to 900T
A bit of a newbie question...sorry in advance!
I installed v1.3.6 on my Samsung G900F, and so far, everything is great. When I installed the custom ROM, the model number changed to G900T. If I want to install v1.3.7, do I use the G900F version or the G900T version?
Thanks!
Help please I followed the instructions to the T I updated to the nh5 bootloader and modem via the instructions everything seems well but my download speeds are horrible I'm not getting more than 5 down in an excellent coverage area with full signal bars, I was on ne6, just got the phone Tuesday and now my data is so slow can anyone please help!!

Sorry flashed latest version, on nh5 baseband and modem
Morning all,
Just recently did a full system/cache/dalvik wipe and flashed 1.3.6a.. Then I used Odin to flash bootloader/modem. ROM has been working great, but have noticed that my data connections are turning off a few moments after the screen is off. I checked power saving mode, which wasn't even selected to be installed with the Aroma package. But Restrict Background Data.. setting is off. Turned it on, and back off, same result. I have Always On for my WiFi, but that terminates as well.
Bluetooth and my cell signal (no data) are the only things showing for connections after a few moments if screen off.
Any thoughts?

I've been receiving random reboots out of the ordinary, no FC, just a reboot. As of now i loaded the default settings from Ktweaker. I will observe it for a while. Any tips on how to avoid random reboots and what advice can you give to preserve my phone's lifespan?
thanks for the rom
This has been the only rom I've been using and I love it, Thanks for the work.
Will the G900T still be updated or should I just follow the INTL version?
solved my SM-G900T problems
I was seriously about to dump this phone until I found this ROM. I had been having multiple Bluetooth issues streaming music running stock TW. Recently tried CM12 nightlies with similar to worse results even with Ktoonsez kernel. Tried a few other Lollipop Roms that turned out to be unstable at best. Read a post on another forum about this ROM. Installed it two weeks ago and am happy to report that I no longer have Bluetooth stutters and connectivity problems. My phone performs as one would expect. Thank you!
5.0 for wifi calling
I do really like the wifi calling feature, so is there any possibility for u guys to update it?
Awesome rom! I was just wondering if there is a way to add viper audio on it?
I was wondering when using the call recording feature where the recordings are saved. When the recording is stopped it says "saved to my files" looking through my directory I can't seem to find a folder by that name.
Where can I find the boot loader and modem for BNH5?.
Rooted.. Custom Kernel and Rom.. How to factory Reset
Hey guys... just as subject says. I have an S5 SM-G900T. It is Rooted with custom rom, ZtreStoLite 1.3.6a and Ktoonsez Kernel. I wish to factory reset without messing it up. I have a buncha pop up notifications from games I used to play on the phone(facebook stuff) that for some reason didn't stop when I uninstalled the stuff. I wish to keep my phone the same just to get back to when I first loaded the custom rom.
Thanks in advance, and any other info needed feel free to ask.
Komiical
What would cause slow browser loading? Data is not slow, but any browser loads really slow. Thanks
delete Xposed Installer, greenify and adaway or any similar ad blocker.
reboot, have fun.
Hey guys, what happens if I do not do a Data/Factory reset first in recovery before I run my install (and select the second option - to keep my apps)? What are the downsides?
Thanks!
Download failed
I tried to flash a few times now and every time is the same. I download files with opera, chrome and gmail and it says download failed, the files don't appear anywhere but when I go to download again it asks for overwrite. Pictures I take don't appear in the file browser in the camera folder or the gallery until after the next flash (external sd).
It happened after the first time I flashed ktoonsez, after that I tried to fix it with the stock kernel but it didn't work (does the installer flash the stock or does it assume it is already installed and skips?).
P.S. It downloads apps through play store and internet works just fine (full speed).
Nevermind, flashed stock then reflashed xtrestolite and it works as it should now.
Question, if I have the stock lollipop baseband and modem already from the factory do I have to still upload my bootloader and modem? Or do I have to downgrade to kitkat bootloader and modem for this room to work?
I tried it with the lollipop baseband and modem and it just sits at a black screen after Samsung logo. I let it sit for over 70 min and nothing beaides the black screen. Tried multiple times to flash, re-download, and still nothing.
This also happened when I tried to deodex my stock rom too.
Sent from my SM-G900T using XDA Free mobile app
Thanks for the awesome!
Just wanted to say thanks for the awesome rom!
It was just what I was looking for. Loved how striped down it is and the fact I can still use ART.
<s>Only thing I wished is that I could figure out how to get the original voice-to-text to work... On stock 4&5 using swiftkey when I use voice-to-text it shows up in the keyboard tray and inputs the words directly than underlines things it didn't quite hear right and I can go back and fix things if needed. Using this Rom it pops up the normal google themed voice search that then makes you select from a list of a couple of options based on what you said.
Tried installing Svoice doesn't seem to be the missing link so I'm kind of at a loss. XD</s>
Never mind I'm complaint free now.
I was being silly and was using the swiftkey app I paid for from Amazon app store rather than the newer "now free" version from the Playstore...
Wipe
If I dont do a full wipe and install this rom what would happen?

I am running the NORMA s6 port ROM on my Sprint note 3, it took a lot of searching and edits but I finally got my network to show up as Boost Mobile AND I have working 4g (working 3g and 1x too).
MMS, GPS, NFC all work as well.
I don’t have 10 posts yet so I can’t contribute on main thread, but when I get home later today I will post my build.prop for you if you’d like. It contains some edits at the bottom of it which were placed there from a “universal boost apn fix” I flashed from the “LG all things root” guide I frequented when I had the LG Volt.
After flashing this, and editing my apns.conf file to have the appropriate info for Boost apn, my lte started working and I haven’t had to mess with my phone ever since.

There are some more things that you will need to edit to enable all of the Boost mobile features for the rom. Specifically in CSC. If you need more info send me a PM and I can help you get your rom even sweeter!
I don't know if this is the right place to be posting this. So forgive me if this question is in the wrong place. I upgraded (with Odin v3.07) from 4.4.4 to NH7 (I believe) and then to OC5. Everything worked fine until I tried to install TWRP. It wouldn't work. It just refused to replace the stock recovery with TWRP. So I finally got Odin to reinstall the software (OC5) again after doing a factory reset and cache reset. After getting OC5 to work I booted to stock recovery. When I rebooted into the OS, I started getting before booting was complete, a message saying, "Unfortunately<An App> has stopped". Pulled the battery, replaced it and same thing. Has anyone seen this before, and if so what did you do to fix this?
Thank you,
Owen M, Jones
I don't know if there is any missing info on your explanation. I did notice problems on the ota. I also noticed differences between ota and full odin tar. The first difference i noticed with the full odin tar is the android wiggled its antennas. The second thing I noticed was the initial setup looked different vs ota.
I was also getting system app stopped responding message. I was also too aggressive with titanium backup freezes. Things I used to get away with, were mucking up operation. Out of final despair, I decided to only freeze apps that showed up in the regular app menu, that I didn't use. So far, no force closes. A week or so has past and no issues so far. There area few apps that are showing up in play updates, that aren't in the normal app menu list, and I'm not updating them. The app isn't responding got so bad for me that i couldn't get fully booted to back up anything, and lost data that I wish I could have backed up. Oc5 is tempermental.
My latest snafu was freezing apps so much that settings didn't work. I unfroze everything and only froze apps that were in the app menu. Before I did that, wifi and wifi calling were forced on and a reboot wouldn't turn things off causing that state. That's why I said oc5 is very touchy when digging under the hood and stopping apps and services that you might think are bloat. I might disable ant, which is an app for monitoring fitness hardware, but I just leave it alone and don't update it.

FIRST odin CF auto-root. THEN odin the latest TWRP that supports your specific device model. SM-N900P. If Odin fails to flash TWRP by doing it in this order then contact the TWRP team and see if they can look into it.

Don't go freezing stuff willy nilly. There's no need for that and it will cause problems. There's too many dependecies and freezing the wrong app will effect other system apps/services. Battery life is great if you turn of services that you don't use.

I'd love to get wifi calling & hotspot running, were you able to get them running?

Ofcourse. Give me a couple of days. Current deodexed Lollipop rom is being tested. Once that is done I can help you with these things.

Would it be better to ask for this in the Verizon section?
Galaxy Note 3 on 5.0 lollipop
Can anyone tell me how to root the Note 3 on Lollipop? I used Odin to flash oc5, but I lost root. I flashed cf autoroot 4.4.4, but that didn't work. Then someone said load twrp.img in Odin but pda slot didn't give that option. I am new to Samsung so bear with my inexperiance. I usually add on my Nexus devices. Thanks in advance Guys

Both methods should have worked for you, but just have in mind that you can't use the same odin from cfauto root to flash other tar files than the cfautoroot one, and also you won't be able to flash an img file using odin it has to be a .tar or .md5.

Stock message app recently stopped sending and receiving SMS

Any ideas? Other apps I installed to try (eg Signal) fail too. Stock ROM.
This is my fist post, have visited many times. Here we go.
As a LG V20 owner, I recommended the V30+ to two people at work. In a matter of 24 hours, both units stopped sending and receiving emails. I have taken the sims out and tested these in other phones, not a sim issue. I then moved my sim (Telstra Aus) into the V30 and only in the Messaging app, it came up with the message No SIM. This I thought might be a sim slot issue, moved it into the other slot closest to the outside. This worked for about an hour. Then the same issue occurred again. It has to be software, an update or a network change that has caused this. I did a network setting reset, have cleared cache for messaging app. SAFE MODE etc. Very strange.

Yes I used Messenger app for SMS and this failed. It sounds network setting related but still testing.
I had the same problem on my V30, suddenly SMS has stopped working. (I'm using Textra app)
I checked the sim card on the other phone and it was ok.
I found on the internet that other V30 are also affected.
The solution was to install the Message app from Google and run it.
Now SMS is working on Textra and also on the stock app.
Whoa, didn't see this before I posted in another thread. Same problem here, but I already had Messages installed! Wonder if it's just this phone for some reason?? My partner is also on VZ (S7) and can send SMS
edit: apparently it's something Google broke. Temp fix is to disable Carrier Services!
I just recently started having text messages not sending. I am on Verizon LG V30 using the vs996 30c debloated rom. Everything has worked fine until last week when I installed the latest Resurrection Remix rom. Since these roms’ tethering and WiFi do not work, I tried installing the us998 modem zip. I don’t know if that is the problem or not, but, I could not get it to work. I have since reinstalled my 99630c debloated rom and have now lost the ability to send text messages, although I can receive texts just fine. I have done clean installs and dirty installs of the rom. I, just yesterday, did a restore of a previous 99630c backup, changed messaging apps, etc. I even reinstalled Verizon’s messaging app.The messaging problem still persists.
i just got off the phone with a very nice Verizon tech, who spent about 40 minutes trying to help me. No success. She said everything appears to be working fine on their end. She ran out of things to try. She thinks my rooting the phone might possibly have something to do with it, which I agree with.
Does anyone have a working link to John Fawkes vs99630c zip? The one one his zip thread does not download for me. I thought I would try starting again with that zip. Maybe I need to try a different modem download?
Any suggestions much appreciated. Thx

See my solution directly above your question. It's not "rooting" that caused it, it's "Google" that caused it. Uninstalling or freezing Carrier Services will fix it. Did for me.
Check the litany of * reviews from today alone:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.ims&showAllReviews=true
Also, both the standard and debloat ROMs for VS99630c from their respective threads and androidilehost are downloading fine for me.
Thx, but did not work for me. I went into TiBu and found carrier services sitting in the non installed portion of the apps. So, I installed it (first with app, then with data) and tried both messaging apps with it installed. That did not work, so I went back into TiBu again and froze it. It still does not work.
I have tried downloading the standard zip from Fawkes zip thread 8 or 10 times or so. It gets to about 8 or 9% , then gives the message unsuccessful.
I will keep trying. Thx for your suggestions.
As an edit. My phone has also started giving me problems with my fingerprint recognition and my phone dialed has suddenly changed looks forcing me to constantly press and swipe an unlock button to keep the dial pad open if I hesitate too long in punching in numbers or trying to change to speakerphone from there.
I don’t know if it is something I have done/installed (wrong modem perhaps?).
And having the new XDA transition at the same time certainly didn’t help .

I don't know what to tell you about the downloads, confirmed they work.
You don't need to freeze CS, you can literally just uninstall it from the Play store. It's just an enhancement for the Google MEssages app they broke. if you don't use Messages, you surely don't need it. I don't know what you meant about CS showing up in the "non installed portion of the apps". It's either installed and frozen or thawed, or it's not. Maybe you had a backup there for reasons? Regardless, you certainly need to reboot after changing CS, not sure if you did that.
You have alot of other issues coming from RR, then flashing a modem, then trying to dirty flash VS996. Since you have TB already, you should definitely backup your apps, then Maybe clean flash VS99630c once you've followed the WTF thread. You should probably wipe your system after the other ROMs and just start over.
That certainly was a quick answer. In TiBu, under “backup/restore”, I have all the apps that are currently on my phone—a very long list. This list can be frozen, etc., and is bolded and colored fonts. Scrolling down that list, it ends and a list starts that is not bolded and has lines thru it. I guess these are apps, etc. that I have, at one time, had on the phone and can be re installed via TiBu.
I was trying to “start over” by downloading the vs99630c rom and try it. Where were you thinking I need to start over at? I wish to work only on “zips” via twrp, as I don't have much luck/knowledge with kdz and computers.
Thx, again.
Again, I'm the furthest thing from the expert here, but he's on travel! Check the WTF thread, because I'm not sure what happens when you wipe with the flashes you've made. But you'd probably start from 6.7. MORE TWRP ACTIONS here:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...ar-instructions.3790500/page-10#post-76584629
I would reboot to TWRP and do a complete system backup in case this goes tits up you can restore that from TWRP. Then I would boot to OS and back up everything in TB, then delete all uninstalled backups through the batch actions. Then reboot to TWRP again, wipe, install the VS99630c ROM, install MAgisk, reboot. Make sure your install works then restore your apps through TB.
Ok, thx. I wish to install the vs99630c rom zip now (not the debloated) and am unable to download it from JohnFawkes LG V30 vs 996-30c thread from here on xda. I have tried via my phone about a dozen times now and it stops now generally after the 10 to 20% zip has downloaded. I even tried it a couple of times downloading onto a laptop. Can you possibly point me to a different link that I can try? I need to be on Verizon’s vs 996 and not on the 998 rom, I think? Sorry for the big bother.
Well, I did finally find a download mirror on here from chazzmatts thread using his mirror. It is downloaded now. I will try this installation before going thru the wtf steps you referred me to. If this doesn’t work, then i will try it.
thx, again for your help.
As an update, I did a clean wipe and installed this zip. So far, it seems to have settled things down for. I was able to text (2) and make a phone call. Both worked. I did agree to everything they asked (I normally refuse things such as location, etc.). I’m happy for now. Later, I may try to reinstall the debloated zip.
Ideveraux, thx for all your help on here. I really appreciate it.
Make sure you backup TWRP and TB. Just saying!
And to the OP, I’m sorry I hijacked your thread. I hope you got yours solved, too.
I had this problem after owning the phone for several days.
I'm not sure why, but when i installed Google's "Messages" app, the problem was fixed.
I didn't have to run the messages app, just install it. The stock app suddenly started working again.
I then uninstalled google messages (without ever running it), and the next day I had the same problem.
Once again; I installed google messages, and the problem solved itself without ever running google messages.
This time; I haven't uninstalled google messages.
I'm guessing that something about SMS settings got messed up (i checked them when the problem first happened and couldn't find a problem), and installing a new message app restored the settings to normal.
TLDR: if SMS stops working, Install Google Messages. Problem solved.

I tried that initially and that's not the accepted fix at all. Read above.
