" torrents" this talk about piracy is aganst xda rules but on an educational purpose the mobile networks block all ports execpt the ones they need for services and port 80 what is internet.
dont bother about calling and asking about having to port unblocked as it is a sequrity risk and they will tell you to go on their premium plan where the port would be usable.
Use my phone as wifi tether occasionally in devon "middle of nowhere with bad conection" but i still get a steady 800kb/s.
Who taught you that Xperia phones can only download up to 150KB/s?

There is no way you can use 3g internet for free.
WiFi or nothing. Your choice.
To last poster: DroidVPN will use WiFi or 3G to connect to the private network, it has nothing to do with accessing internet. You need internet to connect to internet..doesn't make sense, eh?

No, it is true. They can bypass their network provider billing system, using vpn, ssh tunnel, certain proxy, certain port. By doing that their service provider dont know that they actually using data connection when on the service provider billing system seems like they're not.
But thats a fraud, and disscussing it is agains xda rules, and i just cant stand these cheapskate who can afford a few hundred dollar phone but cant spend a few bucks more for data service.

HELPPPPPPP???????
Using you mobile as a modem can cost you some money. I make sure that this is ok for you. Do you use a custom Rom or a standard Rom? which one do you use?
And start searching for wifi Hotspot or tethering. Should be under wireless options.

Ok. Do you have root rights? If so there are apps for tethering search them in the market. If not you should try to flash a different Rom. It's tricky complicated for beginners but search a bit in this forum. After miniCM7 you should know if your bootloader can be unlocked. Etc. In this process you may loose all your data or configuration so. Make a backup maybe with my phone explorer. You need the desktop and the market app for it. Good luck

Maybe someone else knows how. My problem is I don't known the basic features any more. Because at the first day I rooted. After one week I unlocked the bootloader. I never went back again because the results are great. And seriously it was the best decision to flash gingerbread. Less security vulnerabilities it was faster. I could install more features block adds. And use a firewall. Only mms features was not working quite good.
But in the end it's your decision.
I googled a little bit of how about some wifi tether

I'm the developer of Fast File Transfer, a free Android app that uses WiFi tethering for sending files between devices at speeds similar to WiFi Direct.
The app allows for speeds of up to 32 Mbit/s, which means e.g. 1 Gigabyte in just over 4 minutes (depending on devices)
Features:
✔ Up to 20x speed of bluetooth
✔ The receiver is device-independent
✔ No need for a common Wi-Fi connection
✔ No data usage for file transfers
✔ The receiver does not have to have the app installed
✔ Send single or multiple files
✔ Easy to setup: Use QR codes to allow the receiver to easily connect to the wifi and open the receiving URL
Play Store Link:
http://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.floriandraschbacher.fastfiletransfer
I hope you find this useful!
Wow! Very thanks! Its is real cool!

According to this: http://talk.sonymobile.com/thread/49020?start=0&tstart=0 the pre-installed WiFi direct does not work at least for the Xperia P.
Please correct me if I'm wrong.
There seem to be two different functions called WiFi direct...
If you've got it working on your U, please help Panzerfaust101 on this thread for his sola: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1948855 :good:

@XperianPro: You could see Fast File Transfer as an alternative to WiFi Shot
Hope my app is of use for those with WiFi-Direct-capable devices, too.
E.g. for sending to any device, not only smartphones with WiFi direct.
Seems like Xperia S and Xperia P still need my app as a replacement for WiFi Direct, as the preinstalled one does not work even with WiFi shot.
My Xperia U support wifi direct.

You can send to any device if it has WiFi. So if your PC has WiFi, you can use it as the receiver.
The sender has to have the app installed, so sending from the PC to the phone is not possible.
Thanks for app,at least I can send files now to devices without wifi direct because Bluetooth 2.1 is damn slow.

That's stupid
When exactly does it close?
Does your phone have a carrier lock?
Can you use WiFi Tethering if you start it from the system settings?
Will it works on Galaxy SL I9003?
Hi Friends, I am using Galaxy SL I9003 with CM10 cROM. Stock ROM (2.3.5) didn't support WiFi Direct, as this feature is started from ICS 4.0 on wards. I rooted my mobile and flashed CM10 but didn't get WiFi Direct option. I installed this app but it stops at "Initializing". Did any of you tried on CM10 rom or stock GB ROM?

I aint doing anything evil brother!
Its jus my brother does an online job and i tend to be online while he does that job! Since our connection is slow and when i use the connection while he's working, he blocks my mac till he finishes his work coz he doesn't want me to feed on the bandwidth! And he forgets to again unblock it so i use some random mac to connect untill he unblocks my mac again! So i m doing nothing evil!

Hello everybody
Am from galaxy mini forum..
I have been using this website (heaven) for over a year..
I have rooted nearly 20-30 devices with the help of xda..
Now i myself want to do something for the members of xda..
°°~~I want to develop android from the source, but i don't have stable Internet connection, i tether my Mobile's net with laptop
Is it possible to offline install the android sources? °°~~
Help me..
Thanks in advance
@Faiyaz5yaz What do you mean offline install? The sources are online so one way or other you're gonna have to get them off the web and onto your computer. The only other option is using a build server, if you have access to one. How unstable is your connection? when you sync the sources, you can stop it and start again from where you left off whenever you want, you don't have to do it in one go.
@HTCDreamOn i mistyped it.. I mean i hav limited Internet connection.. I can't download 30+ gb source file.. Is it possible to port from my friends pc to mine? Syncing is not a prob i can do it

Well as I said you could still sync it in stages, although if you're limited to 500MB a month or something then it'll take years. You can only use a friends source if its the same device... Otherwise you could always copy it over, then create a new directory and use the repo init -reference command to use the existing files, then you'd have to download far less.
Thanks for your reply Man
So , u mean that I can download source files for my galaxy mini on my friends PC and later just copy it ?

Well you just sync all the sources into one directory, so if you're saying your friend doesn't mind downloading 10GB+ of stuff and you don't mind transferring 10GB of stuff over somehow, then yeah that should work fine.
Yeah he will ..and I have a 32gb flash drive ..
That would b enough right?
