Ok... So, is there anyway to force rotation-lock to turn off on a Nexus 7 with Android 4.2.2?
Reason: I cracked my screen from the bottom left of the screen to just shy of the top right corner. The lower section, below the crack, is not responsive to touch... and the dots I need (I use the pattern pass) are on this side because I can't flip the tablet.
How This Happened: I turned on rotation lock with the tablet upside down to keep it there... But then my Nexus 7 decided to restart randomly and keep rotation-lock on but coming back in the default orientation, aka the wrong way that I need it to be.
So, can anyone help?
Depends, are you rooted? Do you have adb access currently?

Hi,
I need to change the orientation of the PIN keyboard from landscape to portrait. When i drive i cannot unlock the phone with one hand. My hand is big enough for the streak since since I'm 6.2" with really big hands but the way the keypad is set in the lock screen is impossible for me to do it with one hand. The numbers are way to small and sideways. I need a lock screen like the iphone. This is the only problem i have with this phone.
I have tried lockbot and some other apps but as soon as you press the home button it takes you to the home page so not much security there.
I have heard somewhere that there is a setting in some system file that has the orientation lockscreen=1 or something like that. Maybe if this is set to 0 it will change to portrait but i have no idea how to find this. If someone could look into this it would be cool.
Any ideas? Please help me with this one.
Hit the menu button, Settings, Location and Security, set up lock screen, and then click on pattern. Much easier than a pin numberand you can use one hand. Although note that you will make the pattern in portrait mode, the unlock screen is in landscape so it gets rotated.

I am also looking how to change the orientation when in portrait mode.
I would actually like to flip it. I am using a business card holder as a "dock" for my phone at work, but to plug it in, I have the cable on top. When unlocked it looks fine in landscape, but if I leave it locked, it is upside down. I'll probably just end up trying to cut a hole out of the bottom of the card holder instead, but I don't know if that will look very good, or even be useful, since the cord will make the phone sit almost a half inch higher.
This is really bugging me. I can't believe Dell let this latest 318 version go out the door with a lock screen like this. If they fixed this it would be perfect release.
Has anyone found a way to change the lock screen orientation or replace the entire screen itself to another version, something to make it easier to unlock the device?
Perfect release? Are you kidding? There is nothing even remotely CLOSE about ANY of the dell releases being perfect. Have you not read the numerous threads about all the bugs from various users...
It's barely even decent.

Hi,
I have tried stock roms as well as a few of the awesome roms offered in the dev. section.
On issue i have never been able to resolve (and cant understand why more ppl dont raise this issue) is that ive always had 2 screen ive had to go through when powering on/waking my phone.
When ever i press the power button i get the normal weather lock screen, then after sliding that, i get the security pattern lock screen (which i have chose to enable).
If i remove the weather lock screen the best i can get is the default android lock screen (followed then by my security pattern screen.)
Anyone know a solution or can point me in the right direction? what i want is just the security pattern lock screen.
thanks
Not possible I don't think,
The old sense did that though but not anymore

Probably because more people wanted the new way which is normal for android... As opposed to the way you want

I don't have enough posts to ask in the dev threads but I'm wondering if anyone else who's tried them has seen this. Basically if I'm on the home screen my tablet is stuck in landscape mode. In any apps auto rotate works. It's not a big deal other than I usually hold my tablet with the controls on the upper right side.
And, yes, auto rotate is turned on.
are you running the newest KANG?
If so, go to settings, trebuchet, general, auto rotate

Perfect! Thanks for the help.
Is there any way to get the Screen to light up, when the screen is locked and dark and then I provide some mouse/keyboard/touchpad input. I am a laptop user for 11 years or so, and it's just second nature at this point to touch the touchpad to get the screen to light up so you can enter a password. I end up having to take my hand off the keypad and hit the button on the top edge to wake my prime up. It's a minor annoyance at best, but it just seems like something this should just have. I tried the screen brightness keys on the top row with no luck. Thanks for the help.

Click to collapse
It should be under Asus custom settings in the Settings menu.

Yep once you disable the dock battery saving in the Asus settings, and then you can touch any keys/touched and it will wake the device up.

That did the trick. Thanks applied!
1. My S3 i535 locks up something fierce and it's running stock 4.3. and whats odd is I can press the lockscreen button which shuts off the lcd and then press it again and swipe to unlock and its fine again till I click a few more things. Rinse and repeat this process and pretty much becomes a chore trying to do anything at all. not sure if this is a separate issue on it's own or somehow related to the below issue.
2. Odd behavior with my touch screen. I have 4 apps across and 4 down on my Home-screen... if I press and hold any of the 4 shortcuts on the left hand edge I can move them like normal... same for the 2 on the right edge that are towards the middle of the screen, but the remaining icons if I try to press and hold to move them... they just open the app instead. Have tried a different launcher other than stock and same problem. Same behavior on other screens as well. I'm thinking bad digitizer? If it's digitizer, can anyone tell me if the i535's digitizer is the same as that in the i9300?
Any help appreciated. :good:
