international it is but is says THE PHONE WILL NOT HAVE SERVICE IN THE UK it will have in greece?

There's a good chance it will work, but nothing is guaranteed if it is network blacklisted in another country.
I had an i9100 that was blacklisted in Spain but worked fine in UK.
Unfortunately you can't tell until you try it!

Who knows no service in UK reads as probably blocked phone that may be stolen .
jje

I'd be betting on the 'stolen in UK' scenario - and it's probably the thief selling it, which is why he knows it will not work there. It's possible it's another victim trying to offload their cost by selling it to another innocent, but I'd bet on the thief being the seller.
Stay away... if it looks too good to be true it probably is. And with the EU being so tightly joined, do you want to risk the cops arriving on your doorstep accusing YOU of stealing the phone? It may seem unlikely just for a phone, but what if it was stolen as part of a larger crime?

Hi,
The phone has been unlocked so you can use it with a Greece SIM card. You shouldn't have any problems, but if you do, I'm happy to refund you the money. that he answer me

It's your risk, but if it is blacklisted because it is stolen, how can you trust he will pay you back?

[Q] o2 & nfc

hi i'm considering getting the sgs2 to replace my htc desire, one question
does the sgs2 come with nfc if i buy the phone from o2, they say it has but just making sure before i buy it
If they say so...
I've got mine from o2 Germany and it is the normal international version without NFC.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
Get it confirmed in writing from O2 before purchase .
NFC how to empty your wallet by just waving your phone in the air .
jje
i didn't think the uk version had nfc but they say it has, i don't want to buy the phone to find out it doesn't
Do what JJEgan said. Have them confirm it in a writing. If it turns out it has no NFC, you should be able to give it back. At least in Germany you would be able to get out of the contract.

i'm buying on pay as you go
it doesn't say it has NFC here? http://shop.o2.co.uk/mobile_phone/pay_and_go/specifications/Samsung/Galaxy S II
when using the online chat they insist it definitly does
I got mine on contract with O2 uk and mine doesn't come with nfc. Im yet to see model in the uk with it.

thanks when did you order
Got mine in august.

thanks i still dont think it has
There are SGS2 with NFC just coming in by main dealers. Orange has the main bulk of them and Vodafone say they are getting their NFC soon which can mean any thing. If O2 say their handsets have it they are new batch but once again getting this in print or see the handset yourself in O2 store..
is there any way of telling if it has it if i buy instore

Any thing to look out for using the I-9300 in the US on AT&T?

I'm considering picking up this phone. I know it won't have LTE but that's not really an issue for me. Any thing else to worry about? Does Samsung honor the warranty on this device in the USA?
Thanks for any help.

You should always contact the seller for warranty claims, not Samsung directly. The seller has a legally binding obligation to you to fulfill warranty claims, not the manufacturer. (Manufacturers only have that obligation to their direct clients - the retail shops)
Ok well I'd be buying it second hand. Thanks for the information.
Second hand as in from CL? if you buy it from somewhere like Expansys, they will honor the warranty by sending it to Samsung UK for you.

[Q] Bought a brand new AT&T i717 with a bad imei for $200... what to do now?

Hello
I bough what it looks like a brand new i717 on craigslist at @ $200. It is in pristine condition, boxed with all the accessories including a genuine flip case... everything fresh and still smelling like new. It has a bad IMEI though.
The seller said it was a display unit on an AT&T store and that they block the IMEIs of the phones that are removed from the display counter. The guy even had an AT&T t-shirt... Truth or lie? I don't know, it still seemed a great deal to me and I bought it anyway since I've seen them on ebay selling well above $300 in "used" (all scratched up) condition.
So, I have two questions:
-Is it true that a blocked IMEI will work overseas? (I also took the risk on buying it because I will move overseas in a few months)
-Is there anything I can do to use it now with my T-Mobile account?
Thanks
Not sure about it working overseas. No experience.
But you could also sell it to somebody who wants to use it on T-Mobile USA since a bad AT&T IMEI doesnt matter on T-Mo
Looks like you are screwed unless you can find stuff to manage stolen phones... I'd take our as a lesson of "if it looks too good to be true..."

Really? I thought AT&T and T-mobile shared a blacklisted IMEI database. Can anyone confirm if it will work with T-mobile?
If you unlocked it, it can work overseas and if you root it and flash t mobile blaze ics modem you can use it on T-Mobile like what I'm doing now getting hspa speed

I have two questions, are you trying to call at&t and have them turn the phone on or are you just putting a sim card in and its not working? And if you did put a working at&t sim in without calling what did it say or do on the phone?

No, I haven't called At&t at all... I don't think I'm going to have any luck asking them to fix the imei of a blacklisted phone that I boought on Craiglist... I do have a T-mobile sim but I haven't inserted it yet. Why? because I have read many times that if you insert a sim on a phone with a blocked imei they will block the sim card automatically...

Oh that sucks. I will unlock it and take it with me overseas... I guess I shouldn't have any problems using it there (Lima, Peru).
Ok this sucks even more. A friend grabbed the phone and inserted his own AT&T sim card just to "see what happens"... his line got automatically suspended. It didn't even work when inserted the sim back to his own phone. Of course this has just happened a few minutes ago (Saturday night when customer service is closed).
I will call customer care tomorrow. Do any of you guys know what are the steps to restore the line? Is it just a simple call or does he need to buy a new sim?
Thanks
whoa that sucks. i didnt know they are that quick to take action.
That is a great way to screw with people that try to steal phones...

I agree. He called ATT this morning and his line was suspended as "lost or stolen". The rep never said anything about using the sim on a blacklisted device or anything similar. They restored his service right away,
Anyway... my i717 is now stored and I won't mess with it until I move overseas. Beware of inserting your sim on an blacklisted device!
Not to hijack your thread, but a "friend" of mine just stole a brand new note from best buy and wants me to help him unlock and root it. Not that I really care about best buy (and I really don't care that he stole it) but I'm thinking on refusing on general principle just because his actions raise the prices of phones and service for the rest of us. What would you do?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using Tapatalk 2
I'd tell your friend, that if he was clever enough to steal it, then he should be clever enough to get a job and buy one... the thieving little socialist.
In the principle of helping anyone root their phone, I'd not do it for them. I would help them read and learn how to do it, as that helps general understanding of what they are doing and may eliminate future help calls.

Have you tried using it on Straight Talk? Its att so it probably wouldn't work. Just an idea.
Want to sell it? I'll buy it from you. Mine has a dead pixel and while its annoying it's not bad enough for me to buy a new $220 screen.

I wouldn't have a friend like this. Can't stand a f'n thief. I'm an anti-cop kind of person but I've been ripped off and it sucks. Tell him to kiss your as#. I hope he gets busted when he puts a sim in it.

Cell Spa sales stolen phones
Unfortunately I bought a Galaxy S2 in September from a cell phone store (" Cell Spa" in Sugar Land Texas) that sales stolen Phones. I was able to call AT&T and told them to release my SIM card and they did. They told me the IMEI on the phone was linked to a stolen phone so basically there was nothing I could do. They are not concerned about returning the phone to the original person who claimed the theft so I'm stuck with a blacklisted phone????:crying:
What was that line from Forrest Gump? Oh yeah, "stupid is as stupid does". Anyone that buys or sells stolen phones, gets what they deserve. Remember....it was stolen from someone that actually paid money for it!

[Q] Blacklisted S3, what to do, abroad?

So I got an S3, and I found it that it was Blacklisted, (this is a UK version) so I thought that it won't work in UK, but will it work in USA if it was blacklisted on Vodaphone. The phone is unlocked. I'm asking whether a) The 'blacklisting' applies over the sea (I've heard some phones don't even have IMEI's there) and b) does the phone have CMDA capabilities, or is it just GSM??

Probably in that case the device is property of your carrier (at least until your contract expires) and it should be considered stolen goods in legal terms.
So trying to evade the law will not only attract trouble but helping you do it is against Xda policy.
How about just paying the bills? Contract is contract...
