Hi,
I was updating my strak 5 from stock Froyo to official gingerbread from http://streakblog.blogspot.in/2011/12/dell-released-official-gingerbread.html , in this a file is mentioned "recovery image of version 350", its link is dead; can anybody here give the updated link for this file. Thanks.
Updated links have been posted several times already, so search for them if you want them. That said, going to one of the DSC ROMs would be better than going to the stock Gingerbread ROM. The 407 ROM has a lot of bugs in it that have been fixed in the aforementioned ROMs.

@vickkr,
I could not agree more with @Strephon Alkhalikoi. You could do more, have more improvement on your DS5 using any Custom ROMs.
But if you still insist on getting Stock ROM 350 ... and perhaps then OTA to 407, by all means you can visit xda Dell Streak 5 wiki page at link here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/index.php?title=Dell_Streak --- Scroll down to a table of Official rom and you find 350 pkg and recovery, click to link download ---
FYI, I did tried to flash to 406 or 407 many times directly using their respective recovery, but failed every time. I got message, "Fail to mount mnt/sdcard (cannot find files) ... well something like that.
BTW, I need 407 installed before flashing certain Custom ROM, example MOKEE OS - stated as required as starting points before flashing MOKEE OS Custom ROM. The only method I had success was to go to 350 first and OTA to 407. I have not figure out why it never work, while others have claimed that they can flash either to 406 and/or 407 directly on their DS5. note: OTA = Over The Air Update of ver.350 to ver.407.
Currently I going to try DSC Custom ROM. I got mixed understanding if 406/407 is required first before flashing the ROM, some say must, some say no need.
BTW, use the search menu, you probably will find what you need on DS5 all here in xda then on other sites. Perhaps you could use this as the starting point: http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=695
Good Luck. :good:

I've unlocked my bootloader on my relatively stock Orange UK Froyo Atrix. Now I've lost most of my RAM which I was aware of but looking through the fixes they ONLY apply to Gingerbread ROMS is this correct? Here's all the threads I've read...

Is there no way to recover the RAM on the standard Orange UK Froyo ROM?
Thanks
Yes just flash the IHOP in that first thread you posted.
In the future don't open multiple threads for one issue. Sometimes it takes a bit of time before someone responds.
Which IHOP from where? I've already falshed the one from the Pudding thread and I have 380MB of RAM. If you read the tentative RAM fix thread it says it ONLY applies to Gingerbread NOT Froyo.

My Kernel version is this if it helps:
2.6.32.9

hmmm there was an sbf that I used that both allowed you to unlock + had the ram fix I assume it does the same thing (which is flash the boot img) so the question out to the world is it save to flash a 2.3.4 boot img on froyo?
I believe the answer is yes, but if i'm wrong I don't know of any 2.2 boot img files you can use to revert, you would have to flash the orange 2.2 sbf again
EDIT
everything i have read suggests this will not be a problem. If it were me I would give it a go. maybe wait a bit to see if anyone sees this and yells NO!
Well I thought the same thing but the orange fr thread put me off is it says its only for 2.3.4...
If I feel brave and try it i'll let you know if it works!

What sbf did you flash btw? I can only assume you flashed the same as me?

I felt brave...
After flash it boots (eventually) into Froyo...
However...
The touch screen doesn't work!
So I'm going to have to flash to Gingerbread I think.
FLASHING TO GINGERBREAD SOLVED MY TOUCHSCREEN PROBLEM
SO TO SUMMARISE. DO NOT FLASH THE BOOT IMAGE FROM GINGERBREAD IF YOU WANT TO STAY ON FROYO
sorry wish i saw this before us went ahead. I would have posted the sbf I used, not sure if it was the same as I don't see it referenced much. and its only on my home computer. Glad your device is up and running though. I assume when you did it you got the one that matches your device.
I'm not really sure what sbf you are talking about? Its the boot .img that gets falshed to fix the ram issue. Theres no sbf that will solve it as far as I can see?
yeah when i get home if I have a chance I will upload or find the post
Thanks. If you find it that post should be stickied.

My Atrix Orange FR run only ~380MB Ram since i unlock bootloader :S
Version Système : 4.4.20.MB860.Orange.en.FR
Version Android : 2.2.2
Version de bande de base : N_01.100.00R
Version Webtop : WT-1.2.0-121
Numéro de build : OLYEM_U4_4.2.0
Why did you unlock your bootloader on Orange FR? There is already an Orange FR 2.3 build? Anyways, it's easily remedied... just upgrade to 2.3 here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1169409
I've unlocked bootloader in order to upgrade to ORFR 2.3.4 ( the link you give me ) because the official Gingerbread ROM isn't already available but had some troubles with wifi ( i can't connect to my home network ), so I go back to stock ROM ( backed up with CWM ).
But now I've a RAM problem
problem solved. i've flashed back to the stock ROM using SBF available here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1125944&highlight=firmware
Hello,
I have accidentally flashed a kernel for the Galaxy.
Of course it did not work.
Then I flashed Steve kernel.
I noticed that the Y-axis was inverted and the Menu and Back buttons not working.
Can someone help me?
I don't have any problems with STeVEs custom with my french Galaxy s wifi 4.0.

Maybe you should try to reflash the rom? I don't know how to flash the official rom. ^^
Do you have the US version or another version? Because the US one has a capacitive home button, making it not compatible with international versions and vice-versa. If you have the yp-g1 international (physical home button), try the firmwares at samfirmware.com, all their yp-g1 firmwares are for non US versions.
If you have the US version, here is the link for the stock ROM (credits to alltellmobile): http://www.4shared.com/file/zhZjh0EY/package_us235tar.html
Hope I helped!
EDIT: Oops sorry I just saw that you have a German version. Well go to http://www.samfirmware.com/mp3.htm and pick the right firmware version yp-g1. You have to create an account first but it's easy. There is a flashguide in the ROM package and follow that to reflash your device to stock.
It does not help!
I have reflashed STeVEs ROM and the ROM from samfirmware.com.
Did you try wiping all data before flashing?
Yes, with Volume Up+Home-Button+On
And you can't reflash an official rom?
No, I do not find the XXKPQ-ROM.
Edit:Maybe I should still complement that I mistakenly flashed a Kernel from Samsung Galaxy S
Then it cannot be begun any more.
Then I have flashed STeVEs ROM and Kernel and everything was reflecting-wrong.
Can nobody help me?
I see a YP-G1 ROM here. This seems to be the stock rom for YP-G1 in Hong Kong. Let me know if you have difficulty in downloading it (the download page is all Chinese )
1 Day to download.
Tomorrow there are results.
Edit: Download always failed
thanks for thread, helped a lot
It may sound strange but I got used to it now.
Nevertheless, I would like to have a fully functioning player.
Does anyone know how?
Same Problem here
Hi there,
I have the same Problem.
I tried to flash a gt-i9000 rom on my yp-g1 and it failed.
After this i flashed it with odin (etherealromV2.4 and R3_INTL Kernel). Succesful.
My Problem: my y-axis is inverted and the menu and back keys dont work (but they are lighted).
I already tried different combination of roms (etherealromV2.4, IcyFusion_v2.3_G1UEKI8, Klassic_R5_INTL) and kernels (R3_INTL, STeVEs-3.0-EU, TerraSilent_intl-1.3.5). But nothing fixed the problem.
Do you have any idea how i can fix it?
You two that accidentally flashed the wrong rom most likely need to find the stock rom for your respective players and flash back. Don't flash any custom roms or kernels because that isn't going to help you. Go to this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1720457 credits go to zalcimon, and get it from there.

Afterwards i tried G1ZKC5. Now everything is fine :good:
Even if I flash TerraSilent_intl-1.3.5 and EtherealRomV2.4 all keys are working correctly and the y-axis is normal.
Hi Guys,
Am currently on stock 407, but in settings>>About Phone, it shows that my Kernel version was some version of "perf" (couldn't recall exact string).
I was using several flavors of custom ROM before flashing stock 407. I then flashed Gkernel1.5.
I was wondering if there was any way to flash stock kernel? I tried flashing stock 407 again, but the kernel remains as Gkernel1.5. :\
On a sidenote, which would be the best Kernel for GB?
Help?

Thanks for responding. It'll be helpful if you can direct me to any helpful threads.
Before posting this, I've gone through most of the threads in the 5 subsections for Dell Streak 5.
Have also searched for kernels but the only ones that come up are the custom kernels:
Gkernel (both 1.5 and the X versions), DJ Steve's as well as the Phoenix being used by DSC0.66b. Nothing about the stock kernel.
The reason I asked is I did flash stock ROM but the kernel + amss + dsp1 did not change. It remained as whatever it was before I flashed. Had to manually flash the 407 amss and dsp1 files. Only thing missing to have a completely stock GB Streak is the kernel, and I can't seem to get it by flashing the stock ROM again (i tried).
Or maybe I'm not providing enough information for you to help me? Any help is much appreciated. Just need to point me in the right direction.
Thanks!

Hi, I successfully flashed my T-mobile Vibrant about twelve months ago to a custom 2.2 Froyo rom (Trigger 3.2 Final). It's a great rom and EVERYTHING works. However lately I've read rave things said about newer roms such as ICS passion. It's been a while and I'm still a noobie at this so my question is:
What is the easiest way to get to ICS passion from my current custom Froyo rom ? Thanks ~ Chris
hi,
Its very easy to get ICS running on your vibe. There may be various ways to proceed. I ll give you what I did (AFTER failing for 5-6 times )
Odin back to stock (It may be not necessary. But I started from the beginning which is better AFAIK )
Then stored ICS ROM (ICZen which in my case) and update.zip (CWM) on internal SD
then flashed GB Bootloaders (It also may/ may not necessary. But I did it b/c I already had many failed attempts)
Then flashed CM7 first
After that flashed ICS on top of it
Worked at last for me
NOTE: Please read relevant instructions provided by ROMs b/c flashing one may differ from flashing another.
You can find more information if you run into problems in my thread [SOLVED]Cannot install ICS ROM--please HELP

You may just want to read this before flashing ICS. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1580902

^^^ Truth
And I would suggest staying away from Passion. It is based on 4.0.3 and there was a pretty significant code upgread when ICS went to 4.0.4.
IIRC, Passion is the last ROM that still uses 4.0.3 and is probably why it is dead now (but for some reason lives in infamy on YouTube and Google Search).
Haarsh's way works just fine but here is another method as another option too.
Thanks
Thanks for the replies. This is why I subscribed to the forum.
mmm... I see a few pitfalls ahead.
Background info from me is that I can't use Odin on my Linux computer. Never really got into Heimdall. I flashed my first rom by downloading the rom zip file and put it on my phone's internal sd card then let clockwork do the rest, ie nandroid backup and flash the rom from the update zip. I'd like to do the same again.
Ok, it's my understanding that anything above 2.2 needs the GB bootloader so the first step is to install that over my Trigger rom. I think Trigger would still run with the GB bootloader at that stage. Next download an update zip of a rom of my choice, put it on my phone's sd, then flash it with Clockwork.
Seems to me that should work or am I missing something I wonder ?
You can flash the GB bootloader. Its backward compatible so it will work with any ROM currently available.
Download the .zip of the ROM you want, and any Gapps if applicable. Then just follow the instructions on page 1 of the ROM (OP).
The usual would be Wipe Data/Factory Reset, Clear Cache, Clear Dalvik. Flash ROM, flash Gapps, restart. The instructions will tell you all you need to know.
If something goes wrong, give us a shout. That's what we're here for.

Q&A for [ROM] CM 10.1(Android 4.2) for Atrix
Some developers prefer that questions remain separate from their main development thread to help keep things organized. Placing your question within this thread will increase its chances of being answered by a member of the community or by the developer.
Before posting, please use the forum search and read through the discussion thread for [ROM] CM 10.1(Android 4.2) for Atrix. If you can't find an answer, post it here, being sure to give as much information as possible (firmware version, steps to reproduce, logcat if available) so that you can get help.
Thanks for understanding and for helping to keep XDA neat and tidy!
Kernel question
Hi there,
I am reading from some time threads and threads about the Atrix roms and kernels and since I am finding Android 2.3.4 (yes, still on GB) more and more limited in terms of supported apps I finally decided to make the big move.
I have chosen this ROM and I am currently making up my TODO list: I have the root, I will unlock the bootloader and then I will probably install CWM recovery and then switch the ROM.
I have just one question: I found a lot of threads and articles all around the web talking about how to switch ROM but not how to switch the kernel. Is that because each ROM comes with a bundled kernel and the procedure is the same for both?
It seems to be because I looked at the list of files and folders of one kernel I downloaded and it seems to be just a subset of the files in one of ROMs I downloaded...
P.S. Also, where can I find the Gapps? I found them in the website of CWM, is that ok?
I hope I am not wrong and I hope I will find some support if needed in the next days!
Many thanks

If you chose to switch ROMs to a non Moto ROM, then you will have to install CWM, there is no probably about it. As far as CWM goes, if you are going to go with AtrICS, CM9, CM10, CM10.1, or CM10.2, your best bet would be to go with the recovery from the link found in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1302423 seeing as it does cover all partitions and the previously listed ROMs do utilize the webtop partition. If you are going to go with CM11, best bet would be to follow Z's instructions in his thread
AtrICS, CM9, CM10, and CM10.1 have 2 main kernels that they have used, the 2.x kernel and the 3.1 kernel. the 2.x kernel is outdated, and only a handful of ppl still use those versions of the ROM. The 3.1 kernel is ROMs, its more like a kernel update rather than a switching. The link to the kernel updates is here https://www.dropbox.com/sh/npbgtozd4w0ahiv/VIA6JjSf4l and you simply just flash the kernel that corresponds with your ROM via CWM. CM11 kernel updates have come in each of the releases, along with the ones here for v3 https://www.dropbox.com/sh/1w47t4vofyiwveb/AAAyK69Lv3z3oSgGI4Qoh9nha?dl=0
I'm a little confused on where you are getting these Gapps from CWM's website. I've been on there many times including now and I see no mention of any Gapps. As far as Gapps go, you need to use the one that matches up with your ROM version.
