OK, I've seen the videos of the Thunderbolt with fast boot, booting up in like 10 seconds. I have fast boot enabled but it still takes over a minute to boot. Any thoughts on what I can do to fix this?
I don't know if this was coincidence but I noticed that on mine after I checked fast boot it was still slow to boot. Tried it a second time and it loaded in about 12 sec. The first time might have been getting it setup in cache or something, don't quote me on that though.
Same. Fast boot seemed like a normal reboot to me.

I've tried everything, removed all apps and rebooted several times - still slow booting. I wiped the device and then rebooted several times and still all slow boot. I've posted this on various forums and so far I've seen a few people that fast boot is not working. As of yet no one has came across a fix that I've seen.
Ate you using a custom launcher?

This might sound dumb but just checking.
Fast boot only works when you power down using power off form the power menu.
If you choose reboot it does not do anything with fastboot.
Are you choosing reboot or shutdown then pressing the power button?

I'm holding in the power button and choosing "Power off/Shut phone down" option.
Just to make sure I'm not just over looking the obvious. All I should have to do is
1. Go into Settings -> Power and check Fast Boot
2. Hold in power button and choose shut down
a. Phone turns off
3. Hold power button in to "fast boot"
Is that correct? Or is their a hidden step? lol I'm starting to get paranoid that I'm just blatantly overlooking a setting.

That sounds write. When you boot back up and go into setting is the fast boot option still checked?
Yes it's still checked. If it were just my phone I would say it's defective, but the fact that my friend got his same time I got mine and it's doing the same thing really makes me want to think I'm just missing something.
Does it show you the very first htc screen?
The one that just says htc NOT the one that says htc quietly brilliant.

It does show the "HTC" screen. Here is a video of it booting up that I took earlier today, in case it helps. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4kDOgM0g1vo
Thanks for the video its helpful.
On my that screen does not show when i use fast boot.
And when i use fast boot i dont need to hold the power button that long.
So for some reason your phone it not doing the fast boot.
Can you check the difference in time it takes to turn off with the option on and off?
I believe it turns off faster when fast boot is on.
But i am really out of ideas. very odd.
Another dumb question. Is the fast boot option also checked under settings>applications?
With option unchecked:
Turn off time: 15.8 seconds
Boot time: 59.4 seconds to lock screen
With option checked:
Turn off time: 24.1 seconds
Boot time: 58.8 seconds to lock screen
I had my friend check his wife's phone and fast boot is doing the same on it. I'm really inclined to say I'm missing something, but I just don't see it. I'm not new to android, I've had an android device since the Moto Droid and have rooted them, restored them, backed them up, put custom roms on them, etc... I'm really starting to feel stupid though

yupp mines doing it too, i have it checked in and it loads as if its not clicked, which is fine since fastboot is only putting the only in hibernation mode and not really restarting it, just another way to make it look as if it has a fast boot, which it doesnt

Off topic, cant you copy bootanimation.zip files to /data/local without root?
I'm not sure if this is an ADW launcher thing or something with the rom, but I just did a full wipe on Sunday because of a reboot issue when using the gps on GSB 3.5 and I decided to install Condemned V10 Stripped and give it a shot.
So far so good, I'm really liking the rom, but my phone doesn't go to sleep unless I hit the End button and cut off the tv screen. Is that the expected behavior with ADW (or this rom), or a glitch? Has anyone else experienced this? Under the Settings menu, it is set to sleep after 1 minute, but the screen just dims some, doesn't go totally dark.
Thanks.
Nope - I'm not experiencing it at all and I've been on this ROM for a week now, after switching from the odexed GSB V3.5. Mine is timing out & going to the blank screen after a minute - don't see ADW being a problem either as I've used it with other Eris ROM.
You did do a full SD card reformat, delete the android folder with USB enabled in recovery mode, and did cache/dalvik wipe, etc. flashing this ROM & also reflashed Gapps (I used the March 2011 GB version.)
Have you look at your CM settings? Auto Brightest On or Off?
Perhaps you want to reflash CM Rom again (just do a cache/dalvik wipe only) to see if it will help.
Auto Brightness is set to On. I didn't do a full wipe of the SD card, just the phone. I can try a dalvik wipe/reflash tonight to see if that helps before wiping the sd card and the android folder.
Thanks.

Try checking in Settings>CM Settings>Lockscreen>Timeout and delay and make sure they aren't set to a long period of time. Maybe also try out of curiosity if that doesn't help... Turn off the screen of animation in CM Settings as well. Maybe that's causing a hiccup or something. I've never had a problem with the phone not going to sleep.
Thanks for the tips, guys. I reblasted with V10 (decided to do full version instead of stripped) after a dalvik wipe, and everything went well. Phone goes to sleep fine now, except for text messages from work during the night (which unfortunately isn't something that will ever totally go away while I work in IT).

- Great, sounds (looking) good then.
Just in case you haven't set it - for late night beeps & flashing LED, go to Settings > CM >Sound - - - set "Enable quiet hours" to mute so that no sounds will be played, disable vibrations & dim LED brightness. That should help during regular periods of DND (do not disturb) as it is for me w. multiple mail accounts merged & pulled by Google mail - then pushed. Pop3 mail not a problem - don't get or use SMS much on mine so it's not an issue & I don't enable my twitter feeds unless I need to.
(LOL, if I can only "teach" my alpha-numeric pager to do the same, I would not jumping out of bed at 4 am or what not but that's a different story in & of itself.)
Off topic: just in case, CS is reading the post again, this latest vanilla/full ROM is really rocking & rolling - I haven't seen a repeat of the phone not charging - out on assignment Tuesday evening & had NAV-Car Mode on for 2 hours and no FC, etc. Low-power USB charging/generic mini-usb cable and/or home charger (generic/Moto, etc.) putting out only 500 or 600 maH while plugged in seemed to be the culprit in failing to even trickle charge the Eris & draining it fast. It's getting kind of quiet & no news or bugs popping up lately over at the main thread in the developer's subforum .... Overall, it's a job well done - thanks !!

I'm running the CM9 beta 0.2.0 by jokersax11 ([Ics] cm9 beta with camera CDMA/GSM/UMTS/HSDPA/WCDMA/roaming 2/22/12) and my capacitive touch buttons at the bottom of the screen*(Menu, Home, Back and Search) are not lighting up at all! I can't figure it out at all and I really need these buttons to light up, due to my recent switch from the LG Optimus S, and before that I had an AT&T HTC Inspire 4g (which have the home and menu buttons reversed). I use my phone alot at night and I desperately need to get this fixed! Is there something in the CM9 settings I'm overlooking? Or is there an app or mod that I could use to get control of them and get them working again? PLEASE HELP! I WOULD REALLY APPRECIATE ANY ADVICE OR ANY INFO ON HOW TO GET THESE BUTTONS TO LIGHT UP AGAIN! This is really frustrating!
Click the link below for the answer ...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1526546
EDIT - Well that was fun. If you haven't figured it out, the link above goes to the other thread you started, with the same title, and the same body, in the same forum .... You should not create duplicate threads. For future reference best practice is create 1 thread and wait a minimum of 24 hours between bumps.
With that out of the way my actual advice is as follows, i dont believe the capacitive buttons are an issue with jokers CM build although i dont personally use it. This would indicate the answer lies in a) something you did b) something you didnt do c) something you installed
1. You can eliminate a and b without losing any info by going into your custom recovery and wiping cache and dalvik cache then doing a dirty flash on the rom (dirty flash = don't wipe data/factory). In this case there would be no reason to reflash gapps.
2. If that doesn't work, do a full wipe (data factory/system/dalvik) and reflash the ROM, then gapps. Be slow to in stall your apps and test the capicitive buttons frequently to ensure you haven't done anything to break them
Set the phone's brightness to Automatic.. Fixed..
People are so over dramatic sometimes lol.

Well, it's fixed. Don't know what the heck was going on but reflashed my CM9 & Google apps and voila my automatic brightness switch in settings started working again. No more problems and capacitive buttons work fine. Strange but at least it's fixed

And sorry to anyone that needed a fix to this. I was involved in the tornado that hit Branson, Missouri and was unable to keep phone charged due to the power outage that lasted over a week, and had bigger things to worry about at the time, like getting shelter and food. But everything is ok now and hope this thread helps anyone that has this problem. Check to see if your automtic brightness switch is working under settings (mine wasn't working) So if it isn't working just reboot into recovery, wipe dalvik cache & /cache, and reflash your rom and gapps, then check in your settings to see if your automatic brightness is now working. If so your problem should be fixed and your capcitive buttons should now light up. It worked for me, hopefully it will work for you.

Hi guys. Weird problem with my S3. Happened just after the last firmware update which added the notification bar brightness control. If I plug my S3 into the AC charger the screen auto off does not work. It will stay on even if the screen is locked. When the battery is fully charged, the screen comes on and does not go off as well. Screen shot of my system is included. It works fine on battery power.

Just a guess and I can't remember if this option exists on the stock firmware as I am running CM but in your settings go to development options and see if there is an option like "stay awake , screen will never sleep when charging" if there is try toggling it a few times and leave it un-ticked

Nope. No such option in Developer Options. I just charge the phone the moment I get home now and unplug it before I go to bed so that I don't end up with some screen burn-in from the AMOLED display.
Okay sorry I don't really know what to suggest then apart from backing up with kies then trying a factory reset always worked for me on stock.

Oh, would rather hate to do that, but if it works, I guess I'll give it a try. Not much really on my phone, just a bunch of pics and vids of the kids which I can easily back up. Well have a go when I get back home this evening.
Sorry I couldn't be of more use hope it works for you.
Factory reset will not fix the problem. I had the same problem when I updated the last time. Download "extended controls "from the play store and use the widget tha keeps screen on while charging to deactivate it.
Found the culprit. It was HD Widgets. It was the most recently updated app on my S3. Removed, restarted and it's okay now. I was using HDW for the BT toggle widget, went back to my trusty Extended Controls and used the EC widget and everything is fine now. Thanks all. Will email the developer and let them know of the problem.

I had the same problem, I also had Extended Controls but not HD Widgets, so I uninstalled Extended Controls, and it solved the problem
"Magic is real! But it can only be mastered by people that don't believe, and can only be seen by people that don't know." Morten Vou Knudsen
I don't have Extended Controls or HD Widgets.....and my screen stays on when fully charged. it wakes my husband up at night. any thoughts?
I think I may have found the problem....but i'm currently testing to see if it is or not.
I thought maybe it was "bedside" an app that silences stuff at night.
For me the problem was Smart stay feature under Settings/Display. Once I turned off that the device can turn off the display while charging. This feature used to work great for me with the 4.0.4 firmware that I was using. Once upgraded to 4.1 (H3G) the issue started.
Thanks

Post your battery stats here
1. Run System Panel App from google play - just have a look on all the processes and see if any App is hogging the memory. - Just check if a process called android media process is running and % utilization.
2. Goto recovery and wipe your cache.
3. Download Motomizer and wipe battery stats.
4. Check if you have given permission to any location based App to access your GPS ( FB, Google Now, Maps etc)
See if it helps.

Back your data ,go into stock recovery and do a factory reset.
Reset will require a minimum battery level of 25%. If you are unable to perform a reset, please charge for 20-30 minutes and try reset again.
1. With the phone powered off, press the VOL UP + VOL DOWN KEY together + POWER KEY .
2. The device will display different BOOT OPTIONS
3. Use the VOL DOWN Key to SCROLL to Recovery and VOL UP Key to SELECT
Tip: If the device reboots, you may have waited to long to make a selection, you will need to begin the process again.
4. The device will display the Motorola logo and then the Android in distress ( logo with Exclamation mark)
5. Press and hold the VOL DOWN key for 5-10 seconds
6. While still holding the VOL DOWN key tap and release the VOL UP key.
Tip: Try this step, holding the phone in landscape. If you are stuck on step 6, do a force reboot by pressing the power Key and Vol Down key, and start the process again.
7. The device will display additional menu options (Text will appear in BLUE)
8. Use the VOL DOWN Key to scroll to Wipe data / factory reset and the POWER Key to SELECT this option.
9. Use the VOL DOWN key again to select YES - delete all user data and press the POWER key to CONFIRM
10. Once the Formatting is complete, press the POWER key to confirm a REBOOT

i did factory reset twice, cleared dalvik cache etc using the method above but did not do the wipe data option coz the usb was not being recognised by the pc. i took my phone to the guy who had programmed it initially , he told me if i do a wipe data i will loose all cdma settings and there will be no way to reprogramme it unless i get the usb fixed. i took the phone to gafar and showed it to a few guys, one shop asked me 3500 bucks and i was like Hell NO !!! shop # 111 asked me 800 bucks and i said yeah go ahead, he took an hour or so and later said that he changed the usb port and all but still pc did not detect it. came back sad. Seems there is hardware issue but surprisingly the usb port charges my mobile but does not recognise it.
now decided to use it till it is dies. am at a dead end now. had i not purchased a xperia tablet Z, i would have not have thought twice to go for samsung S4 cdma @35k. but seems i will have to wait a bit. Purchased a new battery for my backup phone moto glam XT800.
Let see how long does this droid razr lasts.
